Awesome video! How do you manage set aside time for your husband? I'm in a relationship of almost 3 years and I don't want to have my girlfriend feel as if she's been neglected due to on call, studying, and clinicals etc, but I guess living together makes things easier. Also, are you able to take out loans for cost of living or does your school offer you a stipend of any sort? Thanks!
Thank you Phillip! I know what you mean. Living together definitely makes it easier. One simple thing we do almost every night during the week is go to the gym and eat dinner together. The only time we don't get to do this is when I am on call. On the weekends I usually wake up early and try to get all of my studying done by lunchtime so we can hang out the rest of the day. We do rotate weekends as well and I still work per diem in the ICU as an RN so sometimes we only get an hour or two at the end of the day. I think the most important thing is communication. If I know I am going to have a rough week (exams, clinical, etc) I tell him so he isn't surprised when I am extra busy. You are able to take out loans for cost of living in addition to tuition. My school doesn't offer a stipend but they do have student housing which is very cheap. I know some hospitals will offer a stipend if you sign a contract to work for them after graduation.

Most students do take electronic notes but not everybody so don't worry! Many of my classmates take written notes either in a notebook or on the printed powerpoint.

Hey, just started watching your videos I’m starting CRNA school next week. Any recommendations on a good laptop for taking notes and researching? This will be dedicated for school
That's awesome, congrats on getting in! I love the mac book air because it's small and fast. I use a macbook pro just because of video editing but an air would be great for school.
Rhianna Ferial thank you for the reply. I have heard great things about the MacBook series. Did you have any issues with converting programs like Microsoft word? I’ve always been used to a windows based system so I’m a bit hesitant to switch to the apple products.
I'm a soon to be new nurse that will be starting in a larger CVICU that has a history of sending several people to our CRNA school in Nashville (5 people left for CRNA school in January and I am actually filling one of their spots) and I plan to apply to CRNA school in a year or so. The biggest things I hate the most about nursing school is that many nursing style questions come down to semantics so knowing content will help but you may not get it right based on knowing the content and understanding it alone. Since CRNA school is more medical model focused (which tends to be a lot more straight forward and either you know it or you don't), would you say you see less of these style of questions and more content/ critical thinking style and less "let me trick you for the sake of tricking you even though you know all the content and understand it? I work in an ICU PRN as a tech and I hate that we don't learn things from a more medical context because if I had not have worked this job, I would have a hard transition to the nurse role. Probably too much of a dig at nursing education, maybe im a little burnt out of school at this point, but you get the question! Love your videos! You are such an awesome resource!
Hi Caleb! I know exactly what you mean! Crna school is much more scientific application and critical thinking. I don't find the question style similar to nursing school at all.
Apex explains it more and is better for learning while prodigy has huge testing banks for applying your knowledge and practicing. I think they're both very valuable!
As a CRNA, what are your tips on how to keep information? There is a lot of information to remember and sometimes it’s hard to remember it all especially when making the right calls on patients on which anesthetics to use! Thank you! Btw, love your videos, it really helps us understand what it takes to be a CRNA! Very informative! ❤️
Hi Nicole! Preplanning for cases really helps when you are starting out. We preplan the night before clinical so we can develop our anesthetic plan for the next day. I also have an app called Vargo Anesthesia that has all of our drug info, doses, case tips, etc and it is super helpful! If I have an add on case that I haven't done before I usually look it up in Vargo or on open anesthesia (a website) really fast while I am setting up the room. The thing I find most important is always asking questions when you're unsure of something. Thank you for the feedback :) I am glad it's helpful!
I love your youtube channel, you are super detailed and very transparent. Thank you for making this channel. Im on my journey of completing my bsn, similar to you i graduated from an adn program. Thank you for the inspiration.
Hi Rihanna, i hv got everything but what i need ryt now is a general science course. Do you know any university where i can do my courses. 4year university.
Appreciate the video, I am currently working in a level 1 sicu as a nurse extern. I will graduate next year and plan on working there. I have one question, I never use flashcards because I get so frustrated trying to memorize word for word answers. Are there other students in your cohort who does not utilize flash cards and just do other methods of studying? Thanks!
It's awesome that you already have your foot in the door in the SICU! Yes there are. Everyone studies differently, I learn by recall and applying concepts so flashcards and practice questions work great for me. I know some people study by writing everything out on a white board or in a notebook with colors/pictures. There are so many different ways to study and it took me almost all of nursing school to figure out the best way for me 😔
Another great study tool is UA-cam! If I ever feel confused about a topic I watch videos about it until I understand. There are also some neat videos with ideas on how to remember certain things.
Are you able to work in CRNA school? I want to get my DNP in Nursing Anesthesia but I’ll have a 3 year old when I start so I’ll need to work. How is the quality of your instructors?
It depends on if your program lets you or not but if you can it is only VERY part time like 1-3 shifts per month. I work an ICU shift 2 days a month right now. I wouldn't rely on being able to work because you may find it very difficult.
I’m in my second semester as an SRNA and doing fine so far on test. However, I don’t feel like I am retaining content. I have a study group, use quizlet, go back through lectures, and try to pay attention in class...but it just doesn’t seem to be sticking the way it used to. Do you feel like you retained most of the information from your courses? Or have you had to review a lot as the semesters progressed?
I feel similar and I know a lot of my classmates do as well. We take the SEE exams every year and studying for that made me realize how fast I was able to remember things. Also being in clinic and seeing everything come together helps a lot. It's a lot of information but if you study well you will be able to recall it.
So the princples you talk about when it comes to teaching are actually scientifically proven. It's in a book called make it stick. Now, I understand the main idea of the most effective way to learn but here is the big question that I'm having a hard time figuring out. When you pull up a notecard and can't seem to recall the info, what do you do next? Do you read the answer again and come back at a later date?
I do not typically study in groups but if I am done with my study routine and still have a day before the test I will do a group study session. The reason I don't study in a group until I'm done is because I feel that they get off track sometimes and it can be distracting for me. I think group studying is a great supplement to a study routine.
Hi Rhianna! Thank you for your channel. I noticed you workout, eat well, have a baby, a husband, you're a CRNA Doctorate student, and you keep up with your UA-cam channel very well. What do you attribute your energy levels to the most? I'm assuming eating well, working out, and sleeping 7+ hours a night? Do you ever feel really sore and exhausted after a workout and find it difficult to not sleep and eat more for faster recovery? For your body type, what do you mostly attribute your energy levels to? I think this is a great idea for another video! :)
Hi! I attribute it to exactly what you said! I'm vegan and I try to eat healthy most of the time but I do love some junk food 😂. I can definitely tell a drop in energy when I don't exercise and I try to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night but that's not always possible. And yes, I get very sore sometimes usually when I'm not eating and sleeping well.
Hı rhianna:) What are the duties of crna and anestesiologist in intensive care? is an anesthesiologist (M.D.) working in intensive care in your country? or a special area of specialization? (Which exists in two turkey)
When I do research, I can see that crna job announcements are much more, and I can say that I have never seen an anestesiologist . Very interesting :) on the other hand, I am really glad that anesthetic nurses are so strong and robust :) I have another thing to worry about. CRNA also prefer cardiac anesthesia or large organ transplant surgery? Thank you from now. Sorry, Internete does not have enough information on this topic.
We have critical care physicians (intensivist) that work in the ICUs here. I have heard of anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists covering ICUs in smaller hospitals. We are trained to take care of critically ill patients pre-op, intra-op and post-op. Yes we can do every kind of surgery you can think of!
It depends but on average 2-3. Sometimes I study less during the week and then I will do long study sessions on the weekend. If we have exams coming up I might study more versus a week with no exams.
I am a huge fan of you are your husband! Currently a freshman in the pre-nursing phase, but my ultimate goal is to become a CRNA. Refining my studying skills is proving to be necessary now that I'm in college. If you do not mind me asking, what CRNA school are you currently attending? Love your videos!

Do you think 1 year in a picu is enough experience for CRNA school to apply , I’m currently a new RN in the OR but plan on transferring to an icu once I make my year ? Do you have any advice for me ?
Yes I do. If you apply at 1 year you will probably won't actually start until you are closer to having 2 years. I applied with less than 2 years of experience.
Thank you so much , I was thinking the same because by the time I start I will have had 2 years . Thanks so much for replying to my comments hopefully some day I’ll be giving people advice just like you . Have you had any classmates who have struggled with any health issues while in the program is it doable ?
@@SamSing-ew5ge You're welcome and if you ever have more questions feel free to ask. This isn't a health issue but a girl in my class just had a baby and is still finishing the program! So anything is possible! I know someone a few classes ahead of me had health problems and still finished on time. You have to be able to stand and work in the OR setting so I think it would depend on the situation.
Sounds good I already , stand about 10 hours a day I work as a circulating and scrub RN in orthopedic surgery , working with the CRNA’s there is what motivated me to even pursue Nurse anesthesia . Thanks for all your help and quick responses . If I have any questions , I will be sure to ask . Have a great Labor Day
You’ll need to make sure you apply to a program that accepts PICU experience. There are some programs that won’t accept that as viable icu experience, just as some programs don’t accept ER experience.
@@pm1079 I really like the way mine is set up. Even though my program is integrated, we finish almost all of our anesthesia classes in the first 4 semesters.
What camera do you use?
Cannon M5 and my Samsung Galaxy 😊
You can have a great video about this topic :)
@@TheSchoellerFamily thank youuuu :),😍😍😍
Is there many CRNA male students??? Just wondering I know I’m late here hehe and I’m a male that’s interested
How many hours are you studying a day?
It depends but on average 2-3. Sometimes I study less during the week and then I will do long study sessions on the weekend. If we have exams coming up I might study more versus a week with no exams.
How many hours do you study a day?
It depends! First year way more than now because we had more classes.
Thank you so much! Marshall University 😊
Can you post a link to your quizlet
Yes here you go! Sorry if it's confusing at points, I wrote it so I understand it and use abbreviations, etc. If you have any questions about anything let me know.

dont vlog and drive lol! its dangerous! but love your vlogs lol
Good point lol I ordered a mount because safety first! So glad you like them 😊
Did you end with a 4.0 👀
Do you think 1 year in a picu is enough experience for CRNA school to apply , I’m currently a new RN in the OR but plan on transferring to an icu once I make my year ?
There are some programs that won’t accept that as viable icu experience, just as some programs don’t accept ER experience.
i already pass CCRN after a year of Cardiothoracic ICU.
Nice!
Quizlet is a AMAZING tip! THANKS
You're welcome! I love it.
subbed for the Amy's plug...
Haha the best meals on the go!
My mom thinks you look like the lady in INVISIBLE MAN ...
I'll look it up lol
Hey! Is your program front loaded or are you classes integrated into clinical?
Hi! It's integrated 😊
Rhianna Ferial Cool. Do you think you would have liked front loaded better or do you like having clinical at the same time as classes?
@@pm1079 I really like the way mine is set up. Even though my program is integrated, we finish almost all of our anesthesia classes in the first 4 semesters. The first year is very busy with clinical and class but being able to apply what we are learning right away in the clinical is a huge benefit.
You have your computer camera blocked you worried the government is watching you? Lol
Hahaha hackers, the government, murderers...
Lol I have mine covered w electrical tape as well 😂
Can i study crna after associate degree
Yes but you have to get your bachelors first. So associates then bachelors then CRNA school.
Is bsn nursing hard or adjustable
It's challenging but do able! I wrote a lot of papers in my BSN program (my least favorite thing lol)
3.0 cgpa is sufficient to get for crna program
What was urs cgpa in bsn program
Amazing! Ill be a freshmen in college soon, im already a CNA so i know i want to be a nurse. Right now i want to be a nurse anesthetist but it might change ofc so i try watching as many videos as i can to see if its what i really want and i love it! I love school too lol
Hi Cassandra so sorry I missed your comment! It is awesome that you are already in nursing as a CNA, that will give you such an advantage. I bet you could shadow a crna at a hospital near you to see more of what it's like!
