I’m a premed student and do this exact thing, and also Ace every exam. I condense every lecture into no more than one page front and back. make about 6-10 pages of material per test and take it all in. Write down everything you absolutely don’t know or aren’t sure of. Memorize everything you write and you basically know everything in those lectures. This works for genetics, orgo, cell bio, anatomy/physio!
MarineBeast_86 i did the same thing! with anatomy and physio thrown in there as well 😂. and for 2 semesters in a row for orgo ii, a&p ii, and physics ii lol
Daniel Feds big yikes! How’d you do? I’m definitely NOT taking more than 2 science classes w/ labs in a semester. Fortunately I’m working on a second Bachelor’s and only need the science prerequisite courses for med school. All the other gen ed crap is done! 🤗 Leaves me room to take way more interesting bio courses too.
MarineBeast_86 I got a B in anatomy LAB first semester and A’s for the rest and a 4.0 second semester!! All i took these two semesters was science and psychology courses for my neuroscience major and i absolutely loved it. studying science does not bother me whatsoever. i’m awful at writing and gen ed stuff tho.
EXACTLY because once you graduate those As don't guarantee you a job & you'll be getting paid the exact same as the C average nurse. Being able to understand and apply content and testing well are COMPLETELY different.
@@PrettyKay00 ..that's what clinicals are for. We can't even get to the boards if we don't get the grades and pass and graduate so both are equally important. You can't apply what you don't know.
@@PrettyKay00 Getting As will get you a GREATER chance of getting into grad school which is the goal of most nursing students. For many, the end goal is a masters in something like nurse practiioner and grad schools are VERY competitive. The whole Cs get dregrees do not apply to all. Everyone should be aiming for As and not just settling. I wouldn't want someone taking care of me who just settled instead doing his or her very best to learn the material. You need to LEARN the material and learn it WELL to apply the material.
I was an A and B student doing my prereqs... I did well by just printing out the slides, listening to the lecture and highlighting and adding in what was important, annotating what made sense, writing in pencil what didn't (keeping track of that to research later, read in the book, ask a study aid, group meetings, etc) and boom. On a consistent basis, my grades would improve. Writing the notes may help you retain it better, but I know with my handwriting it would be overwhelming, so printing out the slides and listening to the lecture ahead of time can be a helpful alternative
At the beginning of the year last year, I watched your video. I decided that I was going to give your method a try going into my 1st semester. I am about to graduate and have made all As because of you. I have always struggled with studying, and you are the reason that I have passed with flying colors. So thank you
I love how you share as a nurse "you want to know this information and not just pass your courses" as nurses we are here to help people in need and if we don't take the time to understand whats going on then we can cause someone in the field harm. When you shared that it allowed me to subscribe to your channel, keep up the great work you will be an amazing nurse!
i got 3.81 this semester.... so my studying tips is Don't study on Saturdays ... so you avoid burn out record the lecture on your phone listen to it within one week... write the notes READ READ READ them, then the week before exam go through the slides and write the extra notes of them on the end of you notes then before the exam do practice questions from QUIZLET (for example i will google : Nclex questions for palliative care..) BOOM many teachers bring their questions from the internet .. THAT'S IT no need for any extra complicated stuff, no need for extra steps i had Anatomy 2 ,Microbiology, pharmacology, and fundamental 2
I love Sara from registered nurse RN. I finished patho with an 86 ! Now that I’m done with the class and on break I’m reviewing ALL the material all over again before I start again in January to retain and better understand the material for the future classes! While I review a certain disease I also watch a video and she explains sooo good! I basically have it memorized after watching it once! I’m determined to be an RN!
i’m about to be 21, i dropped out of college after my 1st year because i had no idea what i wanted to do and i felt unmotivated. Then after dropping out i looked into nursing but i’ve always been scared to go back. later this year i’ll be going back to school. I struggle a lot with studying so this helped me a lot and it’s super motivating. Thank you!
I started college at 22(post military), went for about a year and a half and got all of my GE courses done, then instead of applying to nursing school I entered the dental field as an assistant which definitely didn't turn out like I planned. I'm now furloughed at 32, baby on the way, and finally decided to try and go back to school. Gotta take a few more science courses, to then applying to the nursing program. 😬 I'm nervous, but ready to get my career back on track.
@@FRANNiiEbOO yessss! you got this! i'm 30 and will be trying to get back to nursing next year! i have a different degree and went back to nursing at 25 and then had to take a break for life reasons and now i'm back and ready!!!! WE. GOT. THIS! :)
Second year dental student here, I do something similar although I have to improvise when the schedule gets hectic. I type up the lectures beforehand (instead of writing), and then I create "something" (mindmap, flashcards, etc.). It also helps to talk out the information with a friend.
This is brilliant!!! I am in last semester of nursing school and I wish I had found this sooner! I love how you made your notes based on the lecture slides and not the textbook. I have done this but taking notes off the textbook and it takes sooooo incredibly long, I end up just re-writing the book 😓
You are so right about the study guides. My teacher leaves out a lot of info that ends up on the exam. I will definitely be creating my own study guide for myself and using your tips. Thanks for sharing! Good Luck
Great tips! I would say that the biggest and most general rule set to follow is that we as students have to understand the teaching style of each professor. How do they create their exams? Do they use the textbook language or are they more interested in testing what else we know instead of what was taught in lecture. I graduated from an accelerated BSN program and this was one of the most important things we had to determine every 9 weeks. It will help you determine how you study and allot your time and notes each week, each week will most likely quiz you on 3-6 chapters of text material. The course you're taking also matters a great deal and is the 2nd biggest thing to take into account :)
Just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you out here who share how you study! I was one of those who has all A’s in high school and now in college still don’t have a solid system… hopefully this year will be my year ☺️
At the end of the day I think it depends on what kind of test taker you are. Nursing style questions are tricky! But this is great. I wish I had watched this when I first started nursing. Good luck to you!
every professor for me is completely different! I wish I had more time between my exams... almost done with my program! I love your penmanship & how organized you are. Wishing you all the best n your studies!
Ashley every year my studying habits and techniques changed a little bit. The most important thing to do is to just do what works for YOU!!!! Every single person is different. I would rewrite my notes 50 times and watch youtube videos, but that's what worked for ME. My best friend could look at the material once & have it memorized. We never compared ourselves to one another. We also never studied in groups. Its ok to try different study techniques and you will find what works for YOU.
i got 3.81 this semester.... so my studying tips is Don't study on Saturdays ... so you avoid burn out record the lecture on your phone listen to it within one week... write the notes READ READ READ them, then the week before exam go through the slides and write the extra notes of them on the end of you notes then before the exam do practice questions from QUIZLET (for example i will google : Nclex questions for palliative care..) Finished exams yesterday and this was everything I really wish I had done... thanks for providing a legitimate, detailed, and straightforward study plan! I'll actually use this next term after my short holiday break 👌
I’m in a radiographer program & it’s intense. We have a chapter quiz every week ON THE SAME DAY AS THE LECTURE. We have an exam every 2-3 chapters. It’s detailed bony anatomy, procedures, clinical indications (patho & how it looks on an x-ray), positioning (body rotation angles + central ray angles), and technical factors, adjustments for age & body types, and then x-ray image evaluation. I’m somehow managing an A in my classes, but I still feel like I haven’t worked out a good study system yet & most of the time feel like I’m treading water. I’m currently in winter break, but I have a plan to do 2 weeks of review of fall semester, then 2 weeks studying ahead & prepping for spring semester. I love this video so much for how you clearly & in depth you explained your study system. I especially appreciate how you actually went through your notes & sections to show how you go about your notes. I’m not sure I work fast enough-I have to read my textbook & I’m slow at it🤪 bc our prof includes quiz/exam que on stuff solely in the book & not in any of his power points or lectures 😫); but I’m going to try out your method on break with a couple chapters. I really love how how you do the study guides ahead of time & break them down for studying, also making it easy to carry with you for portable studying.
@@serenaraquel3961 I finished my program & have been a working XR/CT tech for almost 3 years now. I don’t think I was able to successfully use her method in the video bc I wasn’t fast enough with my reading. If I can remember back… I read the textbook & made some additions to my class power point notes. Our teachers always had power points for each lecture. I’d add notes during the class lecture. Read the textbook & highlight. Then add notes from there to the power points. I’d study those & highlight/color code anything significant. I did index cards sometimes of positioning info-central ray angles & centering, body rotation, etc. Also sometimes Quizlet-making my own or using other people’s. In the last year, I went electronic & used Goodnotes & my ipad. I’d download powerpoints & use Goodnotes to ‘write’ on them. I was also able to purchase & download my textbooks. I had to google a conversion from Kindle to another format to use in Goodnotes. I also studied anatomy this way-I took the anatomy images from class powerpoints or downloads & then in Goodnotes-practice labeling anatomy over & over.
Not a nursing student but start the physical therapist assistant program in January and patho is one of the classes we need to take. I took notes like this for my prereqs and made all As. Hoping that continues! New subscriber!
I’m not going to lie you have some pretty handwriting. Also I’m not in nursing school YET but I am in medical assistant school and this video helps a lot for me to get ready for nursing school! Love this video !!
I start nursing school tomorrow and I'm so excited but scared at the same time!!! 17 hours. 21 books. Ty for this video! You have beautiful handwriting as well!!!
I'm currently on my Associate's Degree, about to graduate hopefully in May and doing the Hesi on April so I can get in the ADN program by Spring next year. Watching these kind of videos instead of scaring me, they let me know what to expect and how to deal with it before it even happens! Honestly, in my experience as a born-raised Latina studying the US, getting the basic courses on the AS degree done with A's was not easy.... at least not at first; to summarize I got prepared for my exams exactly as I would do in a nursing school (2 to 1 week in advance) not just because the toughness of the material itself but to translate the material to actually understand it and study in peace. Full story comes here: On my first years due to this language barrier I barely passed with C's in some classes, and hit even harder when Anatomy 1 and 2 became part of them. I was so pissed that even started doubting if nursing was for me because "if I already failed (although I passed, I felt like I failed) on these classes, why is it worth trying to study for nursing at all?" After several visits to a counselor due to not having the family support I needed at the time, I realized it was not the person (me) that was wrong, but the methods used! Then the revelation came to me: If I studied hard, one week in advance but still got a 70 in a test, what am I doing wrong? I figured when asking that question to myself that I was constantly complaining on how I wished I'd still in my country so I can have the books in Spanish once again..... HOLD ON..... and why can't I? That day after I got my C on Anatomy 2 I promised to not force myself to learn the material in English solely, that instead to adapt myself to the stipulated, I would just grab it and take it to my advantage.... and so I did! I started to translate my notes right on the next semester and I noticed a huge difference to the best! My grades went up and after those previous deceptions I became picky and perfectionist with my grades, so much that I feel now I must get an A on every course I do (or just give my all, became if A didn't work and got a B instead, it is still good and did my best which matters) So with my story of overcoming, I want to motivate and inspire all the Latino, Greek, Hindi, Vietnamese and so many other foreign students that don't have English as a first language to not feel scared to use your own. YOUR EDUCATION AND YOUR UNDERSTANDING COMES FIRST, I know some might prefer to have their notes in English so they can "share them" or help a classmate in need or simply in an attempt to excel on the English language itself, but at the end, it doesn't happen because everyone will find their own ways to understand the material without relying on others, and when you don't understand what you're told in English (if you struggle with it) and try to force it anyway, nothing is going to stick and you will be the one on lose position. I hope my experience inspires all to excel on your study methods, since you are the one at play, use resources on your favor and believe me, that's a quality great nurses have and learn in the process ;) Don't ever give up your dreams!
I’m so glad I came across this, I’ve been struggling because at times it’s so hard to comprehend the material no matter how many times I try to study it in English. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
Thank you for this wonderful video. I'm going to try your method for my second semester of my LPN program. I'm an older student and you are an inspiration!
this information was soo helpful! i’ve been in nursing school for only a month now and i still haven’t been able to pick up good study habits :( i will definitely try this because repetition is KEY for me as well, thanks girly good luck to you!! ❤️ subscribed!
This is by far the best “how to study in nursing school” video. Everything is broken down and straight to the point. I absolutely love it. Thank you 🤍...I just subscribed, btw!
This seems so simple. The only thing that would be time consuming is writing the notes, condensing and making into a study guide, and memorizing it. So glad you shared this! Thanks Lady!
great video! i just wanna say to all those who feel the need to get all As...YOU DONT. Sure its a cool thing to say, but what i learned is that GOOD GRADES DO NOT MAKE GOOD NURSES. you can get Cs in every class and be a fantastic nurse. I would rather take a B in a class than risk my mental health for an A. For those who get all As, good job! :) i personally have learned that to me, being a nurse is more than just about the grades. My sister went to school with a girl who got a 4.0 but got fired for almost killing a patient.
I’ve heard that from a lot of Nursing students or Nurses... I’ve even heard stories where SNs create a unnecessary competitive environment with each other (some bullying to people with Cs)... and the cattiness 🙄 (which I expect because of my experience as a CNA). Hopefully I don’t run into this as a male lol. Personally, I want to strive for A’s because I know I’ll want to go to grad school like CRNA school or to Med School eventually... all which require a competitive GPA. I’m just scared that I’ll mess up my mental health... hopefully staying away from what I mentioned helps lol.
I agree with you. Grades are important but so is balance. With that being said, if you’re able to maintain your mental health, and get straight As, that’s great. But I personally think self care is extremely important. I have a 4.0 gpa and my mentality moving forward is to do my best but to also take care of my health.
@@MaRTiiiNxD hmmm yes, it is possible. I have a classmate and her GPA? 98.7 isnt amazing? The teachers were so amazed, they have a problem on what to give us for the test coz she always have perfect scores. She is a very good speaker, she can explain better than the teachers sometimes and mind you... she can almost memorize the patho, physio and anatomy books.
This video has saved my grades in nursing school. I am in my final semester and I was barely passing my lecture tests (scary). After watching this video and using your study methods, I have started to retain the information and pass exams with higher grades. Through your tips, I have the confidence to continue my nursing education with a solid study foundation - the KEY to succeeding! Thank you so much for this video! I could HUG you and CRY all at the same time!!
i am barley passing my exams as well. i have only two exams left in the semester, but at the same time i have ONLY two exams left lol. seeing your comment made me not just give up so thank you!!! i think i am definitely gonna take up her study tips! good luck and congratulations!!!!
This video really relieved me. I’m starting nursing school next semester as a transfer student and I’ve been stressing on how I should study for classes (esp. patho). The way you take your notes is similar to how I’m studying for my prerequisites for Micro, A&P I and II, etc. right now I take what’s called “dummy notes” which are notes I take in class, and then rewrite them into another notebook which is organized better. Then I literally talk to myself, pretending I’m teaching the content to a group of students. (Luckily I haven’t developed schizo from this method loool) Since I’ve graduated high school, I’ve always memorized. But I’m glad I took two years to do GE and prereqs to practice UNDERSTANDING content. Because eventually as a nurse we have to understand AND APPLY. I appreciate the video. Keep it coming!
This video was recommended to me, and I believe it's a sign. I'm in an accelerated BSN program and taking Patho right now. Our sessions are eight weeks long, so it's a lot of material...I currently have a 92% in this class and need to get a 94% in the class to get an A. I'm currently freaking out about our second exam, because the first one significantly lowered my grade, and there are only four more weeks left of the class. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! When I wake up, I'm following your note-taking method. Funny thing, the chapter you're showing is what we just went over in class!
Diana, I love love your videos. Thank you for sharing such great tips and information. Your tips have helped me so much. I was losing my mind. Your handwriting is amazing.
This is so helpful normally I will not watch a whole video but this was very good! I'm in pre-nursing school now only 6 classes left before I apply so this is very nice to have
I’m starting pre-nursing next year and this video helped so much to give me a good way to take note pre lecture, in lecture, and after lecture so thank you😄
I did pre nursing and I didnt do this and I have a GPA of 3.8?? (I can't remember the end number) because its not need. I will start nursing school in JANUARY and this is what ill do😱.
Your notes are beautifully laid out and I love your handwriting! As a nursing student, I will agree when you solely rely on the study guide, you'll be stumped on the exam. I remember studying and then I felt so unprepared at the questions I had on the test. The majority of the stuff I studied for was not on the exam! Also, to prepare for an exam, I like to talk aloud or "teach" my stuffed animal of the condition because when you teach, you actually learn. There's a study on that. =)
my professors say that we can't get through nursing school without reading the book :/ but i like the way you study with using the book as a side ish. i hate reading everything word for word like literally 400-800 pages for the week is insane.
You need to do seminars/presentations, this is good stuff girl. I wish I knew this when I was in undergrad nursing school but I'll definitely be implementing these techniques for my MSN studies!!!
I am just admitted in a university in the USA and as an international student I wanted to know how people study nursing. I am glad I watched this video before starting my Nursing. Now, I just need to practice this way before my nursing school starts and see if it works for me. Thank you.❤
I have at least 30 different colors that I wrote it. It used to work but now that I am in my more advanced classes, it is overwhelming. I love your notes! Can't wait to give this style a try. Thank you for taking the time to make this for us. I appreciate you!
Granddaughter graduated from an intense 11 month 8 day ABSN course first in a class of 84. 140 started. she graduated SUMMA CUM LAUDE with a GPA 4.0. That occurred 12/17/2020. Congratulations! She passed the NCLEX in 75 questions Jan 7 2021.
I always took the power points and the book and combined them into one set of notes in a language I can understand instead of the boring medical book jargon. I tended to over study, but that sure comes in handy now that I'm a nurse.
Thank you so much for this video! I've had a hard time finding a good method to "study smart" and this is so well organized and makes more sense than anything else I've seen!! Good luck with your classes! Thank you again!!
Thank you so much for doing this. Personally writing is best how I learn. It's annoying because it takes so long, but it really helps me retain the information. I just needed a better way to organize how I write down my notes and I think that the sticky note idea is perfect to add on additional notes so that your notes don't become jumbled and it can still be organized and located in the right place versus putting it at the end where you might forget about it.
Thank you so much! I start in January and have been feeling anxious about studying effectively. I am definitely going to try this method! It aligns with my studying style and seems super efficient. Thank you for taking the time to share this!❤❤❤
You’ve def won my subscriptiion. Love this methodology to studying and will incorporate this into studying for my first semester of nursing school. Looking forward to more videos/tips.
That's exactly how my best friend in Nursing school takes notes. She's an A student. The top in the class. It's patience, hard work, and lots of time. Anyone can be like that. It just takes a VERY unique person to be so extensive, specific, and highly patient to master it and excel in that form of studying.... I absolutely cannot do that. All my notes are typed and screenshotted in my Microsoft OneNote heheheh. I love your note-taking concept!
When you become a nurse grades don't matter as much. Yes, you have to know the material. Some students are better test takers than others. Some students remember material but when it comes to taking a test they have brain fog as if they never studied.
@@zincman1995 Some teachers have traight up said "I dont believe in A's" and "Not everyone can get a perfect score". so sometimes you just can't win even if you do the work and follow the rubric
Great video! I’m not sure how all nursing school grading works, but ours does the classic 78% to pass BUT we also have a crazy grading scale!!! In order to get an A, we need to get a 96% which is only getting 2 questions wrong on an exam. The amount of work you have to do to get A’s here is almost impossible and scares me since I want to go to grad school but my GPA isn’t as competitive from this scale.
This is an awesome process and looks like something that would really work for me! I love the organization. Unfortunately, we're learning the new material until the Friday before the exam (our exams are always on Monday's) So I feel like no matter how I organize it, I'm always cramming for at least one section before the exam... We also don't get recorded lectures or study guides. :( This video was very helpful with the note-taking section, thanks for sharing!
Great job. But I wanted to let everyone know that you can turn your powerpoint into a word document in outline form so it will negate the need for you to rewrite it. Then, you can add your (or your professor’s) lecture notes. But I understand the importance of rewriting your notes in your own pen because it helps the information stick.
I love your note taking and study method! It was so clear and concise! I’m most definitely going to be using this method for nursing school! Thank you so much for sharing!💕
Gurl youre a psychopath 😂😂😂 this is exactly what I needed! Learning how to study and organize everything to not be overwhelmed with information. Thank you!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time out to describe your method in detail, I will definitely be re-watching this so that I can try it out and see if it works for me as well. Also, I love that pullover 😍
Gurl you’re a psychopath, lol. Honestly I love you. You’re so organized and I wish we went to school together because you would totallly be my study partner. This is truly helpful. 🧘🏽♀️💕
Wish I found this video earlier...I am about to write my exam next week.....but will definitely use this tips next aca....Thank you very much. Most UA-camrs emphasize on using lots of colors...they mess up my brain up...but yours is simpler and doable 🥰🙈
Pretty much the way I do it! Got only A's during the whole of nursing technician school. I don't like reading the notes before the lecture (they only add brief key points and it's not very helpful), and they don't record lectures, so when I'm in lectures I'm 100%THERE mentally. I ask as many questions as I need to understand, and if someone doesn't like it, not my problem honestly (yes there have been a lot of eye rolls). I start studying for exams 2 weeks prior. I'm able to break the content down multiple times and really understand it. It's very tiring and at the end of each semester I was *over it* hahahha, but I never ever had to worry about my grades. It pays off for sure!
I got through Patho in my LPN program without studying very much, but in the BScN bridge it kicked my a**. I tried reading the textbook and it was just way too much detail. I find that even the lecture slides have so much info that it's hard to condense. That was 2 years ago and I was kicked out, but I'm going back in January to repeat it and finish my RN! Going to try this method.
@Estefany Reyes I hear you! I don't have PowerPoints and not allowed to record! One Prof writes everything out on the board in chalk... It is such a shame
This is genius. I’m going to be a undergrad this coming week and I’m so nervous. Your note taking is genius. Throughout high school I didn’t know how to note-take, always a solid B student now I want to be a solid A student. Thanks for the tips!!
And if you don't its OK! Before nursing school i was an A/B student and that QUICKLY changed. Our program was on a 7 point grading scale so a 91 was a B not an A. Try and focus most on understanding the content not so much what grades you get because once you graduate the straight A and the C average nurse both make the exact same amount of money. I didn't get all As and i was the ONLY new nurse to get into a Level IV NICU and guess what??? Not one single person on my unit cares about my grades lol. Nursing school is completely different and the exams are not designed to be common sense as this field requires critical thinking 24/7. You'll do great just don't beat up on yourself too much over grades.
If that is what you aspire for, don't let ANYONE try to downplay that or make you feel bad for that!! You wanna go for straight As? Girl GO FOR IT!!!!!
I haven't been scoring A's in my pathophysio class and I think I simply haven't been studying enough. This video was really helpful. Unfortunately, I can't make a study guide a week in advance since my exam is Thursday, but I'll do my best using these tips. Thank you :)
I’ve been on the LOOK OUT for videos that can help me organize my time to study and This helped me so much. Thanks❤️ Applying what you learn is a reality about nursing, PTA, and other medicine careers lol this ain’t high school no more 😂
Great video with a lot of details and I have found it very informative and helpful in terms of notes taking skills as well as the studies techniques. Thank you for being generous in sharing this inspiring video. Keep it up!
Thank’s for your informative video. I’m planning to take LVN program soon. I’m a mom of two with little kids. My concern is I might not able to pass the program. I’m not a smart person but I’m not lazy to study. Other reason why I’m worried about was when I did my CNA last year I was struggling because it was fast pace class it was 4 week program. There’s homework and exam everyday and I have kids. Your tips are so helpful to me and I hope I will able to pass the program. I’m your new subscriber here.
very helpful video! i study in a very similar way! I like to use cardstock paper and sharpies tho (but that's just personal preference) i graduate from nursing school with my bsn in may with a 3.7 gpa and i got accepted to pmhnp school! i feel like it's important to note that, yes, As are important and nice to get; however, it's unrealistic (for some) to graduate with a 4.0. some brains just work differently sometimes... i quickly found out that i learn pathophysiology super easily, but truly struggle with pharm. i am also strong in pediatrics and psych, but struggle with community health and OB. some minds just think differently, and that's okay :) you WILL find your passion!
I'm a second semester nursing student and have been trying to figure out a better study method because I don't have time to do my normal way and it wasn't always the most effective. Thank you for this video because I feel like this would work for me so well. I will be trying this immediately.
I am currently taking Microbiology this summer. It’s a 6 weeks class and I am feeling really overwhelmed and thinking of dropping the class and taking it back in the fall. I love your study tips.. I kind of study somewhat the same and wish I had more time to do all of this… 😢
Had a 4.0 gpa my freshman year, once I got into nursing I went down to getting nursing average 3.1... need to get at least a 3.5 to keep my scholarship this semester. Wish me luck y’all T_T Will definitely be trying out your study techniques! I definitely feel like my study methods aren’t the best, I’ll put too much effort and not get much output from it (e.g. reading the whole textbook and not getting anything out of it bc it’s too much info).
I’m a premed student and do this exact thing, and also Ace every exam. I condense every lecture into no more than one page front and back. make about 6-10 pages of material per test and take it all in. Write down everything you absolutely don’t know or aren’t sure of. Just remember while it’s important to pass your classes, the most important thing to take away as a nurse is to be able to apply the content.
Erin W agreed !! Thanks for that message! I’m just starting my perspective as a nursing student :)
Very very important ......well said
EXACTLY because once you graduate those As don't guarantee you a job & you'll be getting paid the exact same as the C average nurse.
I do this, too. Handwriting or IPAD writing takes time so long for me. The more important thing is actually repeating to study for memorizing.
At the beginning of the year last year, I watched your video. I decided that I was going to give your method a try going into my 1st semester. I am about to graduate and have made all As because of you. I have always struggled with studying, and you are the reason that I have passed with flying colors. So thank you
How did it go? What do you do now?
I love how you share as a nurse "you want to know this information and not just pass your courses" as nurses we are here to help people in need and if we don't take the time to understand whats going on then we can cause someone in the field harm. When you shared that it allowed me to subscribe to your channel, keep up the great work you will be an amazing nurse!
i got 3.81 this semester.... so my studying tips is
Don't study on Saturdays ... so you avoid burn out
record the lecture on your phone listen to it within one week... write the notes READ READ READ them, then the week before exam go through the slides and write the extra notes of them on the end of you notes
then before the exam do practice questions from QUIZLET (for example i will google : Nclex questions for palliative care..) BOOM many teachers bring their questions from the internet ..
THAT'S IT no need for any extra complicated stuff, no need for extra steps
i had Anatomy 2 ,Microbiology,pharmacology, and fundamental 2
i record it but listen to it a day or two after class. if I wait a week i'll have lecture recordings that pill up ...
How do you have time to take notes? I have 200-300 slides to go over each week...
I have exam next week 😣 and I don't know what
That’s still so intense - did you work ?
I love Sara from registered nurse RN. I finished patho with an 86 ! Now that I’m done with the class and on break I’m reviewing ALL the material all over again before I start again in January to retain and better understand the material for the future classes! While I review a certain disease I also watch a video and she explains sooo good! I basically have it memorized after watching it once! I’m determined to be an RN!
Love RegisteredNurseRN!!
I use her too! Also I like Nurse Mike and Straight A nursing
i’m about to be 21, i dropped out of college after my 1st year because i had no idea what i wanted to do and i felt unmotivated. Then after dropping out i looked into nursing but i’ve always been scared to go back. later this year i’ll be going back to school. I struggle a lot with studying so this helped me a lot and it’s super motivating. Thank you!
Celia Ortiz me too! I’m 20 and I took the semester off and became a CNA and started working. I’ll be going back in January to retake classes.
Im 24 and just starting, lets kick some ass while theres ass to be kicked!
ua-cam.com/video/45cm3kmUq1Y/v-deo.html my nclex journey. WISHING YOU BEST OF LUCK!
Good Luck
I'm at a 3.9 half way through nursing school. Wish me luck!
Good luck!! That’s amazing!
I’m sure you’re a nurse by now! 🤍
Success!!!
I hope you are a nurse now!!❤❤
I’m so grateful for this video . I was engaged the entire 25 minutes . This video is AMAZING !
I just want to say how helpful your content has been. I have been scoring A's on all my quizzes and exams. TYSM girl!!!
Ahhhh so glad to hear that!!
I start nursing school in January and I have been trying to figure out the best study tips! love this video so helpful! thank you wish me luck!
Good luck ☺️
Ashley every year my studying habits and techniques changed a little bit. The most important thing to do is to just do what works for YOU!!!! Every single person is different. I would rewrite my notes 50 times and watch youtube videos, but that's what worked for ME. My best friend could look at the material once & have it memorized. We never compared ourselves to one another. We also never studied in groups. Its ok to try different study techniques and you will find what works for YOU.
Ashley Shelon wow me too! I’m so nervous but I’m ready!
Ashley Shelon me too I have been watching a lot of videos I’m nervous and excited all at the same time 😩😩

This is what ive been doing and i got As. I started digital notes because it's more convenient
Finished exams yesterday and this was everything I really wish I had done... thanks for providing a legitimate, detailed, and straightforward study plan!
Hi, any update on your program? What note style worked best for you?
Full story comes here:
On my first years due to this language barrier I barely passed with C's in some classes, and hit even harder when Anatomy 1 and 2 became part of them.
I was so pissed that even started doubting if nursing was for me because "if I already failed (although I passed, I felt like I failed) on these classes, why is it worth trying to study for nursing at all?"
After several visits to a counselor due to not having the family support I needed at the time, I realized it was not the person (me) that was wrong, but the methods used!
My grades went up and after those previous deceptions I became picky and perfectionist with my grades, so much that I feel now I must get an A on every course I do (or just give my all, became if A didn't work and got a B instead, it is still good and did my best which matters)
So with my story of overcoming, I want to motivate and inspire all the Latino, Greek, Hindi, Vietnamese and so many other foreign students that don't have English as a first language to not feel scared to use your own.
I hope my experience inspires all to excel on your study methods, since you are the one at play, use resources on your favor and believe me, that's a quality great nurses have and learn in the process ;)
Don't ever give up your dreams!
I’m so glad I came across this, I’ve been struggling because at times it’s so hard to comprehend the material no matter how many times I try to study it in English. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
I am struggling with my classes. I’m glad I came across this comment! You are right! Thank you!
Doesnt take as long as you think :)
great video! i just wanna say to all those who feel the need to get all As...YOU DONT.
My teacher told me this a while back and I agree
We have to average a B on all of our exams :( Our clinicals and projects don't even count towards our grade if we don't get the B average.
I just got accepted to my dream program and am starting nursing school this Fall! Already prepping myself an figuring out study methods 🤣
Same girl! Good luck!
How’s it going?:) I’m happy for you!
@@jennamangano3832 that is awesome! You can do this - you’ve come so far!! I hope you finish the semester strong =) Good luck to you as well!
Best video I’ve come across! I’ve been looking for better ways to utilize my time while studying! Thank you so much !♥️
This video really relieved me. I’m starting nursing school next semester as a transfer student and I’ve been stressing on how I should study for classes (esp. patho). The way you take your notes is similar to how I’m studying for my prerequisites for Micro, A&P I and II, etc. right now
I take what’s called “dummy notes” which are notes I take in class, and then rewrite them into another notebook which is organized better. Then I literally talk to myself, pretending I’m teaching the content to a group of students. (Luckily I haven’t developed schizo from this method loool)
Since I’ve graduated high school, I’ve always memorized.
Practice questions
Your breakdown of explaining how you take notes is such a great help! Thank you!
Just here to comment that I tried this method and I aced my quiz today. Thank you!! ❤️
Your handwriting needs to be a Word font 🤩
Omg stop thats the nicest thing ever thank you
Man seriously, it’s perfect lol
It is. Haha I have two just like it. Totally beautiful
I agree ! ❤️
I don’t like that some random letters are capitalized, but I love the neatness. I’m working on my handwriting and I’d love to get to this level 👏
This is the best video I’ve found on this subject! Thank you so much for making this, your efforts are appreciated
Thank you!! Soo glad you enjoyed
Congratulations to her! Can she be my mentor please 🙏🏾😭
Love this video! I’m a senior in my nursing program and I love to see how other people study compared to me! Subscribed 🥰
I understand how you feel girl! studying is all i do!!!
It has taken over my life
Thank you so much for doing this.
I’m the opposite: I rarely listen to lectures provided and prefer to use the slides and textbook. I also use videos when going through my study guide.
Something tells me I will have to sacrifice gaming knowledge for nursing knowledge. A soul for a soul.
Soul stone lol
Bro I sacrificed gaming lol. Soul for a Soul
Yep...I sacrificed my favorite tv shows for nursing knowledge. Can’t have it all, I guess 🤷🏾♀️
I’m a practical nursing student and we have very similar studying strategies 😊 you have amazing handwriting girl!
I studied so hard but I couldn’t get an A to save my life lol
When you become a nurse grades don't matter as much. Yes, you have to know the material. Some students are better test takers than others. Some students remember material but when it comes to taking a test they have brain fog as if they never studied.
@@thegreatlakestrucker same!!!
Dude, study smart, not hard. Lot of good resources here and other places on YT.
@@zincman1995 Some teachers have traight up said "I dont believe in A's" and "Not everyone can get a perfect score". so sometimes you just can't win even if you do the work and follow the rubric
I got B’s & C’s and passed my NCLEX in 75 questions. Grades don’t matter and having A’s doesn’t automatically make you a good nurse
Thank you so much!! This helped me SO MUCH! Soon starting my nursing school and i really needed this to keep my mind not overwelmed. Amazing!
I love your study methods and notetaking style! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hello from 2022. I hope you are well and happy @Diana Aimee! Thanks for all you shared along your nursing school journey 💗
First off there is no way your handwriting is that neat 😳😍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great job. But I wanted to let everyone know that you can turn your powerpoint into a word document in outline form so it will negate the need for you to rewrite it. Then, you can add your (or your professor’s) lecture notes.
But I understand the importance of rewriting your notes in your own pen because it helps the information stick.
Tee Abdullah thanks for this tip! I would’ve never thought of this.
Please tell me how do you do this !
Girl, you are smart, and hard-working- bravo 🖤🖤 Very inspiring. I think a lot like you do. Thank you for sharing - I start nursing school in May 🤓
Gurl you’re a psychopath, lol. Honestly I love you. You’re so organized and I wish we went to school together because you would totallly be my study partner. This is truly helpful. 🧘🏽♀️💕
#baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I wish we got recorded lectures, we don’t even get power points
Jesus, that's crazy. I can't imagine not having ppts.

Thank you for this video! In nursing school right now and the struggle is real. Thanks for sharing :)

PrettyKay00 feels refreshing to hear you say that.
@@PrettyKay00 so trueeeee🥴🥴🥴
If that is what you aspire for, don't let ANYONE try to downplay that or make you feel bad for that!! You wanna go for straight As? Girl GO FOR IT!!!!!
@@PrettyKay00 exactly C’s get degrees. I am in nursing school and at this point I am happy to just to pass lol because it’s not easy!!
I am going to do this. You rock. Your notes are beautiful and the effort really shows. Thank you so much.
Your notes are a work of art. I wish my hand writing was that good
I haven't been scoring A's in my pathophysio class and I think I simply haven't been studying enough. This video was really helpful. Unfortunately, I can't make a study guide a week in advance since my exam is Thursday, but I'll do my best using these tips. Thank you :)
your handwriting is really pretty! I wish mine was a beautiful. I'm a premed student and I love making handwritten study guides before exams.
Your notes are phenomenal!
Well damn! You’re going to be successful as heck!
Amazing 🥲 time management and I will implement in my study 📚 routine
Great tips Diana - like your calendar overview - trying your one color notes - Thank you
I'm a second semester nursing student and have been trying to figure out a better study method because I don't have time to do my normal way and it wasn't always the most effective. Thank you for this video because I feel like this would work for me so well. I will be trying this immediately.
I am currently taking Microbiology this summer. It’s a 6 weeks class and I am feeling really overwhelmed and thinking of dropping the class and taking it back in the fall. I love your study tips.. I kind of study somewhat the same and wish I had more time to do all of this… 😢
Agreed, it is important to pass your classes, just a bit of friendly advice from a nurse 😊
Ah yes, my patron saint here to save me again. Thanks for helping keep me motivated when everything is falling apart.
