I have several issues with walmart/spark. Right before Christmas they had a glitch in their app and drivers were bombarded with offers. Our metrics were completely messed up. Spark has yet to fix this.
Spark has lowered the offers to half or less than half the pay of what they were a month ago.
Spark is changing offers accepted by the driver. In the last 2 days I've went to pick up the batch orders and they were either canceled or assigned to another driver. I could write a book on spark delivery issues smh lol.

On Spark myself I’ve quickly learned in my market (southeastern Orange County, California) that stores 2206 (Laguna Niguel) and 5600 (Rancho Santa Margarita) are much better than 2218 (Foothill Ranch/Lake Forest) when it comes to getting orders out to you on time, and it helps for me as someone who does this with a Toyota Mirai in particular that 2206 is within a mile of the closest True Zero hydrogen station. Still, if it’s super-busy, the wait times can *really* suck everywhere. Spark is Exhibit A of why I personally like Shop & Deliver orders much more than others because at least in that case you have more control over the pickup process.

I've only been doing spark for 3 days. I have already developed a great system. I have gotten the pickers to bring me my orders as soon as it's ready. The app won't let me check in too early so i just call the number they have posted on the pickup signs and tell them I'm there for a delivery batch and give them the names on the order. They bring them out and we load them and then as soon as the app allows me to check in, i go ahead and start my route. The problem is the people that wait until 45 after the hour to pickup because that's the busiest time frame for them.

Yes!! Wtf is that about!?! The only time/situation it’s appropriate is if you have a return (via the app, not a personal order.) I had an undeliverable order and had to drive it back and because it was so late at night I had to just bring it inside the store.

  • @mofosoto

Wait, are you saying to buy the hooks or don't buy the hooks?
I don't understand the workflow either. There will be like 2 people sitting there when I pull up and park, then another behind me and we'll just sit there for like over 5 mins without anyone coming out with the orders. Then one will come out and load the person that came after me, while we wait another 5 mins before someone else comes out. But there's more than 2 people working in there and it says that my order is ready. I don't understand what is going on if my order is just sitting there and all the employees are in there. Why does it take them 5-15 minutes to come back with another order that's just sitting there ready to be taken out?

I completed one pickup (two stacked deliveries) on Spark. I promptly reported to the store at 7:40 AM (which I was instructed to do by the app); I was in parking slot number one. Despite that fact, I waited 25 minutes for the WalMart staff to load my car. Ultimately, I was paid $18 for my trouble. I probably invested at least 75 minutes overall. No thanks. I haven't taken another Spark offer since.
Meanwhile, I consistently average over $25/mile multi-apping with Doordash, Lyft, Uber-X, and Uber Eats. Moreover, I'm able to maintain a minimum payout of $2/mile driven.

I find that in my market, it is rare to get a delivery that leads back to a power strip even when doing restaurant deliveries. If the offer is worth it (north of $3/mile), I'll commute back to the Walmart but if the restaurant deliveries are closer in I'll do them. Sometimes, I'll ping pong between Walmart and restaurant deliveries. I find that Sam's is often faster- only once out of about 50 deliveries did Sam's exceed a 10 minute wait time. Though, Sam's does have lower base pay than Walmart but the tips can be better. Granted, I do find the Spark offers are about 1/3 less than they were a month ago.68
Pay does go up for extra long waits but it's to the tune of $10/hr. If you can do something else and keep productive in your car, that is a consideration... so it can work to my benefit as I work on my business but that's not an option to everyone. However, the pay is $2.68 if the delivery never gets fulfilled so you want to check in early with an employee about 5 minutes into a wait to find out if they will eventually fulfill it.

  • @itsjeslyfe
    @itsjeslyfe Рік тому +3

You are right the wait times are killer! Also, the cancellation stuff. You only get the show up of $2.50 if they don’t have it or customers cancel. So all that waiting for nothing. I also had a lady pull fraud she got over hundreds of items and said she didn’t. I proved it and they said they fixed the pay. They said it would show in 24-48 hours and it still has not shown over a week later. I love the pay is more, and if it could fix these issues it would be the best app. I don’t see it happening anytime soon though unfortunately.

My wait times are generally 2-8 minutes unless it’s an express order those frequently take 30+minutes. They send express orders to the picker and driver at the same time, if I’m waiting in the parking lot I have to wait the entire time the order is being picked. Some stores have longer wait times than others. Something you didn’t cover is this: I show up for an order, it takes 15 minutes to come out, the location is faraway and I don’t make it back for the RR drop. Some markets are slow and the RR is all you get, if you miss it you’re not making money that hour and have to wait for the next RR to drop.

    Besides the problems you mentioned:
    - The app/infrastructure is super buggy. If anything goes wrong (happens a lot) you have to call support and can't continue deliveries until it's resolved, even if you're on the side of the road.
    - There's zero feedback on customer ratings. I currently have a 4.7 star rating with no information as to why or who gave a negative review, so I have no clue what I need to do to improve.
    - Tip baiting is becoming a big problem. Customers have 24 hours to adjust their tips, so some like to dangle $20 to get a fast delivery, then retract it hours later.
    - Spark often low-ball orders with good tips. An order that should have been Large or Xtra Large gets downsized to Small because it has a $10 tip.
