I could see this being ok for 3-4 months and than going thru ALL the data from doing those deliveries, i think it is very likely that you can find patterns on times and days of the week where you can drop from 10 hours a day to 6-8 hours a day 5 days a week and still maintain 60-75% of that income.

There is nothing wrong with working that hard and that much for a life season. I agree that it isn’t realistic forever but anyone can do it for a season to get out of debt, save for a house down payment, or to pay for a kids college etc. I wish more people could realize this. It’s just a season with a great opportunity! Use it. Don’t be afraid to work your butt off. And once that crazy season is over then you are in a MUCH better financial place and can live more relaxed and more securely.

I also do spring and fall cleanups so I'm only off in January and Feb. I make about the same as she does, and probably gonna retire at 60 I save most of my income and just have 2 kids to feed. My wife works works with me and does the gardens, and mulch jobs with her own truck.

I have broke 100k TWO years straight. Unlike Brenda. I multi app. So, for her to break the 100K just on Sparks is impressive. I know people who have done it with doordash and Shipt too. But for me, I have to multi app. This year has been slow especially this summer. Still going to do about low 90K. I do about 10 hours 7days a week. But honestly I'm not "working" every minute on the hour. A lot of time I'm back home chilling waiting for an order.
My plan was to do this for three years. But the money is so good. I'm going to keep doing till it runs dry.
I did about 40,000 miles to make the 100K. I drive a used 2017 Subaru Forester. Get a dependable car to do this. You will be driving a lot. Learn to change your own oil. I do my own at every 3,000.
One thing that's very important is to learn your MARKET and look for patterns.
BTW I'm in NJ and I know gig worker in NYC who have broke 200K. Insane.

Some locations pay more, but your tips are still being stolen and the base pays are less than before regardless. Youre bragging about how you can make $100 in 8 hours and not factoring in gas or wear & tear on your car, so you're basically making $8-10 an hour after all is said & done, which is literally a third of what we could have made from it 3 years ago. I understand Brenda gets a nice tax deduction for mileage expense but what I'd really like to know is how much is she paying in gas per week and also on quarterly taxes. I find that I make good money up front but when I factor in weekly gas expenses and quarterly tax payments I average between $10 and $15 per hour. So my question is how much of that $113,000 is Brenda spending on gas money and taxes paid in?

You have to factor in the cost of gas as well as wear and tear on your vehicle. Especially these days with high gas prices. I didn't see that in the money breakdown. From other videos on Spark I learned that the mileage given in the app is strictly from the store to the destination of the customer. It does not factor in the distance for you to get to the specific store where you need to pick up the orders. That will take extra time and gas to factor in.

Spark has a lot of bonuses and they are stackable. Like they will say do 10 deliveries and earn 50 dollars. Then they may send another text that says do 5 deliveries from 895 and earn 25. dollars. So you are technically getting 10 from every store 895 deliveries and 5 dollars from all other deliveries. Thats not including the base pay or tips. And I'd you do shopping orders you get even more money. I have 13 stores in my market. I only work 7 of them.

I decided to apply since turo bookings dropped drastically since May. My first day I rejected orders because they were $7 no tip. Then finally got a $14 so accepted it only to have them be a “tip baiter” take it away at no fault of my own. So then I decided to accept my next and last order which again was $7 no tip. So in total drove 29 miles spent 1:45 min of my time for just $14. Gas being so expensive and wear snd tear on my car, it was working for free. I came to the conclusion that people in this area just don’t tip. I already knew this but thought I’d find people being grateful for having someone bring them their groceries but NO in this little country town in NC they have a poverty mindset and just don’t tip. My experience wasn’t good with spark delivery. On the bright side while doing that hustle my online store sold $100 in the 2 hours. Her average is actually over 2000 per week to reach 113k. Most stores have (or at least had back then) pickup hours from 8 to 8 (delivery drivers might show up a bit before 8 am), so she was basically working every single minute walmart pickups were available.
The thing with walmart deliveries is that they are actually consistent throughout the day, there are no sharp peak hours. The main issue she could have faced is orders not being ready on time, but it seems like the stores she went to didn't have that issue. Also by taking orders from 3 different store, she got more consistency.
That's what's nice about those gigs, you can chose how long you want to work. The amount of hours she put is not sustainable, but she might had reasons.

I disagree that it’s consistent throughout the day. There are peak hours and this is proven in the metrics relative to your area. Obviously the busiest times are in the morning and the evening with a bit of a lull in the early to mid afternoon time period. Granted I live in Chattanooga, TN and it not as big of a market as say, Nashville or Atlanta (each respectively about two hours from where I live so things I’d have to think would be more consistent in the larger markets in regard to major cities.

    • @tonymouannes
      @tonymouannes 2 роки тому +1

@@BeefCake1012 it depends how busy it is. Walmart have a cap on orders for each hour. So when it's busy, people are forced to place orders at the least busy hours, evening the workflow. If it's less busy, 5 to 6 pm is the busiest. Non grocery orders are schedules twice a day, so those can put pressure on the peak times.
But compared to restaurants, grocery orders are more spread out throughout the day.

I would really like to make this money once. All I need is just doing it once. I agree this isn’t sustainable but to make great money in it, I think there’s a happy medium somewhere in there, where there will not be any burn out.

Don’t forget new vehicles have a warranty that has a mileage limit on them. I had a 5 yr or 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Meaning your warranty will end 3 years early due to miles put on the car

Don't forget about the bonus days spark offers. Todays bonus is complete 9 trips for extra 55 dollars. On Wednesday and yesterday it was 9 trips for 45 dollars. At end of the day it's worth it. It makes up for the customers who don't tip. And it all depends on your market my market is busy all the time. I live next to three Walmarts and two Sam's Club and hopefully starting in January spark will add Home Depot.

I just started driving for a Spark a couple weeks ago and that’s far I really like it in my marketplace. I do mainly all shop and deliver they pay more and they are really well worth it. I have only done one curbside so far but certainly I’m open to doing more. My question is why would spark be adding Home Depot did Walmart buy out Home Depot or something? Anyway just curious because I have a ton of Home Depot‘s around so that would be pretty cool :-)

I am a spark driver and have been for a couple of years, a couple of things not mentioned here that should be is when Brenda started this in 2019 this was very early on soon after spark driver app was developed, single orders were paying minimum of $12 and batch orders (2 orders going to two separate people) were paying minimum $15, during these years the spark platform wasn't flooded with drivers so it was very possible she was getting more trips in one day than 12 in a 12 hour day, around oct/nov 2020 the pay cut drastically from minimum of $12 single/$15 batch to $7 single and $9 batch and that is what it is currently sitting at in most areas except for areas with a higher cost of living and as of march 9th 2022 with Gas more than tripling in the last 18 months it's still the same $7 and $9 and will be interesting to see if that changes soon with gas in my area pushing on $4 a gallon.

Not happening in my market... they only let you take 1 order an hour...2 if they are batched and THEN you have to make it back to the store by a certain time to be in line to get another order. ie..the closer you are to the store the best chance you have of getting an order. Not happening. Lucky to get 2 in a row PLUS they split deliveries between Point pick up. SMH.. it used to be the balm! Oh well.. rolling with the times.

Great video. Quick question concerning the tax deduction. This is hypothetical but in her case I think you said about 26k is tax deductible from the mileage. Thats clearly an amazing benefit of this gig. Im curious approximatly after taxes what is Brendas take home income? I would imagine after the mileage write off its close to 100k? Can anyone else chime in? But def sounds worth it and worth the depreciation of vehicle!

People don't realize that driving is a potential hazardous job.
people quote good earnings, but if you really need to know how to calculate expense, its barely a job with minimum wage with no benefits. The only perk is flexibility and a better understanding of the town you drive in.

Kuddos to Brenda. She had a goal, and she set out to accomplish it. You left out the reason why she was on beast mode for a year. For those not aware, she was in graduate school and paying for it out of pocket. I think that was the drive behind her consistency.
If you don't have a set goal and the drive towards something doing gig work, it won't matter how much money is on the table, sticking to her type of consistency will never be sustainable for you. Personally, I don't have that kind of drive, or consistency. I go on "beast mode" periodically to accomplish a monetary goal. Past that, I wake-up when my body wants to, and I start working when my brain says "lets go, we're ready"😅.

Not really. I drove straight through to California from Kentucky and back. 32 hours straight the first leg, grabbed 6 hours of sleep, then 35 hours straight back. So basically in 3 days of time I got 6 hours of sleep and spent the rest driving. Driving 10-12 a day is nothing, it all boils down to willpower. That being said, I wouldn't do 10-12 7 days a week, but that doesn't mean she didn't.
On a side note, it's really bizarre to see the sunrise, the sunset, and then the sunrise again from your car lol.

@@MP3Night you have no idea what problems she may have or not have during that time. And when the vehicle is getting repaired, you’re not making money.
Let’s add that she probably paid for the vehicle before this inflation hit. She very well may have sold it for more than she paid for it, after putting all these miles on it.
Then being said she is self employed and the vehicle is a business expense, that vehicle cost deducts from her income… saving her taxes.
Bad expense? Or smart business move? You obviously don’t have a good CPA if you don’t understand how buying a vehicle will get you out of giving your hard earned money to the government (who don’t deserve a god damn penny in the first place)

It might've been ok, but your comfort is definitely something to consider if you're going to be working full time out of your car not to mention the fact that a nissan versa is not a great car any way you look at it besides maybe gas mileage, but reliability and comfort are definitely not what they are known for lol. If I was making good money like that I'd upgrade cars too although not a new one unless it was something cheap and electric that would pay for itself like the Bolt EV/EUV (used examples almost cost more than a brand new one atm)

In that time you'll have plenty of money for another car and have a back up in the turn of the versa need any major repairs. THINK about it bro. I've already typed too much lol
No, I have no idea what is going on behind the curtains for this woman in her daily life. But I can tell you from many years of building cars, side businesses, and just being an entrepreneur...it was a bad move.

About to flip my other 2004 Silverado and more than double up. I just paid for a cherry 2014 crew cab Cummins in cash. I have a near prestige 1970 Firebird and a 1100hp 2000 Trans Am (that I built the motor in, I built the transmission in, that I built the turbo kit, that I wired and that I tuned). Wow. Says she’s a grad student too. Geez.
I’m partially disabled from bone marrow failure and before I was able to go on SSDI, I delivered for Panera. I got an hourly in-store rate for when there was a lull in orders. I liked that. Unfortunately, the other couple of drivers, they would go out of turn and “steal” the orders with good tips.
It was just too exhausting doing it anymore than 4 hours per day, 5 days per week. Factor in in-climate weather and traffic and it’s not worth it - no clue how Brenda manages!
