the movie had a lot of callbacks to the many games. for example i noticed King Boo in the wedding scene which showed Bowser and Peach wearing the same clothing seen in Odyssey.

There is something that makes me think about how the movie ended the fierce complication that happened between him and jr. That being said, I'm glad that Donkey Kong has the potential to become a playable character in the future as Mario's friendly rival like Knuckles.
Slight fact correction: DKL’s soundtrack was actually composed by Graham Norgate. He’d later go on to compose the soundtrack for Blast Corps, which actually has a song from DKL in the soundtrack
oh! another small correction. Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is actually not compatible with the DK Bongos! Weird, right? It originally was, and you can see footage of that version at E3 2005, but once it was ported to Wii they dropped support for them.

I wish Rare released more details on that Wario story but they said it was shot down pretty early and the only plot was what I mentioned in the video. Also it's really humbling to see so many people enjoying these videos. Thank you
Actually played Barrel Blast last year for the first time after having an interest in it since the wii days but never had the opportunity to play it back then. It's a really good time, I like the idea of the Kongs and Kremlings using a unique vehicle that could only work in a DK game rather than usual kart fare. Absolutely love the original Kremling rivals created for that game and desperately need them to return beyond the nods they get in every smash bros that came after them. Seriously, if the next DK game has Kremlings in it, you got an easy line up for bosses right there and can show off unique interactions with the Kongs. Music is phenomenal and the game uses this mechanic called a "Wild Move" which is filled by a gauge and is this boost that can be extended by running into barrels, opponents or enemies on the field and is super satisfying to chain together. It sucks that it wasn't well recieved on release, cause I do find it fun and it has a lot of love for DK in it. Seems it was a victim of "early wiimote control growing pains". I would love a switch remaster with extra control options and just more stuff.
King of swing and jungle climber are actually pretty good. They’re not traditional platformers, but thats whats good. They’re games where once you get a feel for launching DK , you feel all cool and stuff. Like a 2D, less thrilling version of swinging as spider man. Once you know how to traverse the courses properly, it feels really good to play.

might be half-remembering this. but i could've sworn i read some anecdote on a nintendo site (maybe nintendolife?) that Rareware rented a barn to put their computers in, and the noise made people who lived nearby concerned and called the police on them, think the police even thought they were farming drugs (because of station's power drain) before they mentioned their work for Nintendo.
I doubt you take suggestions but Birdo would be a pretty interesting character for these Mario character backgrounds. Considering she used to be a Mario boss and antagonist from a sorta non-Mario game to being a sorta protagonist of the spinoff games as a Yoshi partner
I LOVED Donkey Kong Barrel blast. so many good memories playing that. i also had Jungle Beat but i had it on the wii and i didnt need to use bongos it was a pretty basic side scroller if i remember. great memories
Jungle Beat can be played with regular controllers, yeah. It was my first DK game and I never owned the bongos once in my life. It's also just the hypest Donkey Kong game, everything about it makes you feel so powerful from the variety of Beatdowns to the monkeys clapping tonthw rhythm when you do cool stuff and even the music hyping you up with chanting. To me the best DK platforming game idea is just Jungle Beat 2 but with more kong family and kremlings included as enemies.

In 2D art of DK as far back as Mario vs. DK in 2004, DK's design was slightly changed up to look more similar to Miyamoto's DK, most notably in his having an elevated nose and more prominent nostrils that are oriented horizontally rather than the borderline duck bill with diagonal nostrils Rare gave him. With Mario Kart 8's art, though, in in 2014, even 3D DK's nose was changed to the Miyamoto-esque design. Finally, with 2015's Tipping Stars, DK's in-game model also ditched the Rare nose, which has since become permanent in nearly every appearance he's had over the past seven or eight years. It's surely a minor nitpick to most, but it feels like an erasure of Rare's revival of DK and contributions to DK to me. DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze were such phenomenal revivals of Rare's DK, and I'd much rather see that continue than be subtly erased. Rare is largely why we have the DK we have today, after all.

My favorite experience with Donkey Kong is when I was a kid. My best friend and I were at my one of our sisters basketball games (they played on the same team). My buddy and I got bored watching the game so we decided to explore the gym underneath it bleachers. Underneath we found tons of toys and cash, but the best part of it was I found a game cartridge of Mario VS Donkey Kong. I played that game for hours it was so much fun and I made sure to 100% it. That was one of my favorite summer vacations as a kid.
Also, UNLIMITED BUDGET?!! That Mario v DK game honestly sounds like Jingle All the Way, if Arnold's character was the one with the Turbo man factory and DK as Sinbad's character.
About Donkey Kong Barrel Blast or, as it was known here in Europe, Donkey Kong Jet Race, was in fact the second racer with DK. Before there was a first one on GBA, which look a lot like they only kept the planes from Diddy Kong Racing. (Can't remember the name, alas.) Also, Barrel Blast/Jet Race was initially a GameCube game. (Hence the compatibility with the bongos, needed to play that version of the game.) It simply got reedited on Wii, thinking it would work better without the need for an exotic controller.
The 3 times I bought a SNES, NES, and N64 they came with a copy or even 2&3 of the Donkey Kong Country series and my first GBA came with the Advace version of Country

I played Donkey Kong Barrel Blast when I was a kid. I had some very vague memories, and I was so young when I played it that even at 10, I thought it was just some dream I had. In fact, that's pretty much the only thing I remember about it.
I've heard the Odyssey team would be working on it. That's the rumor at least which would be great to hype up an eventual DK movie but we will see. Nintendo has a habit of moving projects around sometimes
It's an interesting concept but not a lot of plot points were resolved unfortunately, it turned out to be mostly a slice of life series. But it's cool to see Nintendo bring back the Crystal Coconuts in DK64, King of Swing, and Barrel Blast

I played DK King of Swing so much, I wore down or broke the shoulder buttons on TWO of my GBAs. L and R are the main controls of the game, but it genuinely feels so good to get into a swinging groove. The time trials and final boss are ridiculous and the whole OST slaps.
I haven't seen the Mario movie yet (can't wait), but I always loved Donkey Kong's lore, so if they make a Donkey Kong film or film series, I would be here for it. Don't know if they are, but if they ever do I'm here for it 😊
Say what you want, but Donkey Kong Legend of the Crystal Coconut had some songs that absolutely slapped the face taste out of anyone who watched the cut together movie on VHS. Favorites were the pirate one and when DK was being told he was part of King K's people. I feel the show they made held pretty true to the game description of them too. My childhood was pretty good, but I watched and took in everything that was available for my viewing eyes.
DK memories, Donkey Kong Country 2 is my fav and it's DKL2 GameBoy adaptation I played as a kid at the time was impressive despite a few levels missing and two areas combined into one in the GB game. I also have memories of DK in Mario Party games especially when he appeared as a ally in Mario Party 8 to help any player who would come across his spot on the game board.

King K Rool's voice is something I love in the show and hopefully if/when they make a DKC movie they give King K Rool that kinda voice
Jungle Beat has to be my favourite 2D platform, it's insanely fun to play with the kongas!
I played DK King of Swing so much, I wore down or broke the shoulder buttons on TWO of my GBAs.
L and R are the main controls of the game, but it genuinely feels so good to get into a swinging groove.
The time trials and final boss are ridiculous and the whole OST slaps.
I need to go back and try it out! I've always been really nostalgic for anything GBA and King of Swing went under my radar back in the day

I haven't seen the Mario movie yet (can't wait), but I always loved Donkey Kong's lore, so if they make a Donkey Kong film or film series, I would be here for it. Don't know if they are, but if they ever do I'm here for it 😊

Say what you want, but Donkey Kong Legend of the Crystal Coconut had some songs that absolutely slapped the face taste out of anyone who watched the cut together movie on VHS. Favorites were the pirate one and when DK was being told he was part of King K's people. I feel the show they made held pretty true to the game description of them too. My childhood was pretty good, but I watched and took in everything that was available for my viewing eyes.

DK memories, Donkey Kong Country 2 is my fav and it's DKL2 GameBoy adaptation I played as a kid at the time was impressive despite a few levels missing and two areas combined into one in the GB game.
I also have memories of DK in Mario Party games especially when he appeared as a ally in Mario Party 8 to help any player who would come across his spot on the game board.
I was SCREAMING when Returns was announced. I was so happy.

Donkey Kong Land’s soundtrack was done by Graeme Norgate, not David Wise. They just used some of Wise’s music from DKC1 that’s why he’s in the credits.
How did you forget one of his greatest iterations being the Mario + rabbids kingdom battle dlc, it was a fun experience playing it and I hope it gets mentioned in a future video

Not surevif it was bootlegged but in 95 i was 5 and lived in san jose. i could almost swear i had a game system like a cable box or game with cable( i highly doubt we had cable)
