Start of the game: oh no, your cake was stolen, go for it Kirby End of the game: and now Kirby stands as the only thing between the god of death and destruction and the entire universe being consumed by darkness
I'm really concerned on how the games' plot went from *"A penguin is stealing food"* to *"You have to stop a satanic reflexion of your own person to save the fiber of reality itself"*
Oh? That guy on the ball? Caused the literal sun and moon to have a fistfight, then stole a wish and made himself into a dark god, using the wishmaker as a nearly unstoppable kamikaze, and *then* tried to kill our strongest protector, who he tricked into summoning the wishgranter in the first place. Nearly left our hero in the void of space too. But he's cool.
Oh absolutely. If a Kirby final boss doesn't spit in the face of god and science nowadays, something is wrong. It makes the original Kirby's Dreamland look pedestrian in hindsight.
It would be fun to make a game, and have the first thing you hear be “warning, this game walks the surprisingly small line between child friendly fun and psychological horror. And now I NEED to make it now that I had the idea. WHY do I do this.

1:48 Rough Translation: "Dark Matter is a very lonely person. Seems like that's why they're jealous of countries like Dream Land, where everyone is friends with each other. They're too shy to say 'be my friend'."
I think the reason wht DM took the form of "Swordsman" was because they initially wanted to appear less threatening and try to befriend Kirby, unfortunately it seems that its nature took the better of it
Turns out that is a massive mischaracterization caused by mistranslation. Susie did continue using the machines of her father, but she uses them to destroy things that threaten the innocent.
i love how the kirby series has basically cemented kirby as an all-powerful elder god that's just too lazy and/or nice to actually do anything evil with their abilities it's just really nice. eldritch gods don't always have to be destructive. they can be a little round friend
It's just a fan theory at this point, but I like to think Kirby's power really is as infinite as the lore says and his life bar is just how much he cares about the current predicament before he gets bored and goes home to nap.
So a Kirby games go like this: Beginning: King Deedee is being naughty again. Ending: “And after a bloody battle, Kirby cast Super Satan back to the festering depths of Ultra-Hell, saving all of existence.”
14:56 has to be one of the edgiest things in Kirby's history. It's probably just an animation "smear technique" used, but the way it's shown almost looks like the "Dark Meta Knight" is FLICKING BLOOD off the sword!
Yup. In robobot, I think one of the menus say that "Their enemies call them "Pink Demon"" or something like this. So actually, kirby more likely GIIVES PTSD to his enemies (I mean... The ones who _survive_ that is)
He didn't create Kirby, the creator is a guy who worked on the first Kirby game and then disappeared from existence with rumors of his whereabouts or death popping up all over the place Some years ago some people thought they had found him working on a construction firm in Japan but it turned out to be an unrelated guy with the same name
@@Sigismund697 Sakurai created the character and is the only reason that the Kirby series even exists. Also, that guy only worked on 3 or 4 Kirby games before then disappearing, and it was *not* the first game. 3 of them being the Dark Matter trilogy. Kirby games have a different director now.
Looking forward to a Forgotten Land video, that game gives HUGE lore dumps on the science ancients and gives us an even more horrifying eldritch beast to analyze.
Came back here for exactly this reason. As soon as I saw that butterfly in the demo, I knew something was up. I just didn't expect my jaw to hit the floor.
I think that the butterfly has actually been trying to absorb kirby the whole time, because he has landed on him many times, but for some reason he can't
@@Dr.Meme-Man That's probably the reason actually, as Galacta Knight is probably also of Void origin, and that the butterfly resonated with "the screams of the greatest warrior of the galaxy", probably alluding to the screams of the people he killed in the past when he, you know, DESTROYED PLANETS like Star Dream talked about in Robobot, leading to him being sealed away. So yeah, the butterfly seemingly being a judge and all, it probably found kirby so innocent that it couldn't do anything to it, meanwhile Galacta Knight gets assimilated for his crimes.

In a famous piece of Japanese literature, the author of said piece, upon reaching the ending of his tale, remarks that his entire story could have just been the dream of a butterfly that the audience could have just awoken from. From the very beginning, all Kirby games have been alluding to the very real fact that all lore that takes place in Kirby Games are just that: dreams. Hence the heavy use of butterfly imagery.
This is pretty much confirmed by the newest game, where humanity is said to have preferred going to a dream world (Kirby’s world) rather than staying in their own
that butterfly anecdote is Chinese not Japanese, and from a singular story within the taoist text known simply as Zhuangzi, after its author who was known by the same name.
To be honest, he probably already worshiped Void before that and Void is not really just dark matter but an all powerful neutral entity that can become multiple things. Yeah, something is going on, maybe the ancients are there at a war and maybe some ancient is making Evil plans, Hyness got exiled, but how much time ago? Not too much, as basically Hyness rapidly formed a cult and literally got VT's vessel and summoned It in no time. Im 99% sure something goes on.
Kirby probably understands it _less_ that we do. He's just a little baby whatever he is. He cares about A.friends B.food C.anything else that's just having a good clean time He just fixes it because he can with his immense powers and everything just so everything can go back to normal and he'll just eat and sleep with his friends again. Forgotten Land says something along the lines of it being a being that casts judgment, so I doubt it just absorbed Galacta Knight because it saw all the fighting happening and thought it'd be fun to join in. It also absorbed Forgo to give birth to Chaos Elfilis. But rather then let the 11 years spent on those 3 games go to waste, they took all of the important pieces of them, & all of the important story features we were going to get in those games were saved, & recycled for future use. Kirby: *slowly stops chewing his cake and stands up* Yup, same shit different day, what do we have this time? A being made of the very fabric of darkness? Oh, haven't seen THAT one before.
Meta Knight: "God damnit - okay, what is it? Mirror? Galacta Knight? This happens every other week, Jesus Christ. Let's do this again."
Dark Matter AGAIN? REALLY? Give me something *exciting*, please!

"Maybe"
TFW yes I did say “maybe”
Please remove that "maybe" and we can talk about the fact that this thing is a being of infinite power that can't speak a language.
happyfaces_ 321 ok.
happyfaces_ 321 so, it’s a mute pink puffball of infinite power. It’s a video game. What’s crazy about that.
''meaning a being capable of absorbing the actual strongest warrior in the galaxy has been with us this whole time.''
Kirby: am i a joke to you?
Several beings then. Why does kirby rarely just eat bosses
Because he is already "A being on infinite power"
@@KaosFireMaker do you want him to eat morpho knight and kill the universe itself or will you b ok with him just absorbing regular goons to kill the boss
If Dark Matter "eldritch gods" are influenced by emotions and such, would a tiny butterfly with the power to absorb and (maybe) fuse with The Most Powerful Warrior in The Galaxy having been around Kirby for who knows how long, have influenced Kirby to the point were he developed his Copy Ability?
Ypepe
The butterfly ending up being a villain will always be my favorite plot twist in kirby ever
You forgot a pretty important piece of lore-
In Super Smash Bros Ultimate of all games, Kirby was proven to be a canonical god. (One of the creators of Kirby also made Smash Bros, so yes this is canon.)
fun fact: apparently in the original/japanese text in kirby triple deluxe, sectonia had gone so mad she begged for kirby to end her.
Rated E
Good thing Kirby is an oblivious toddler, no adult could handle all he's seen.

I always enjoyed how King Dedede had this air of "Aw shit, he's here" whenever kirby shows up in the games
He's finally lost it, the madness has set in there's nothing we can do except leave him to his demons
The bio for Marx in star allies says as long as he’s fed he won’t attack the thought that Marx went on a rampage just because he was hungry is pretty hilarious
i wonder if that's the reason he became a boss in smash ultimate marx:*sees everyone else but him is a spirit* "if everyone doesn't have a body.....who is going to make me food!"
He has his priorities in check, I would try to take over the planet if I didn’t get my chicken nuggets.

This lore isn't really that dark. Its just horrifying to think that it consistently deals with elderitch horrors.
I mean to be fair most other Nintendo characters also deal with "gods" so it's not that terrifying.
It's lovecraftian horror
If the embodiment of nothingness resembling every single being in the universe while also being referred to as a child and the loss of a daughter which ended up in the fathers soul getting alt-f4'd out of existence isnt dark idk what is
@@undeadbatman9762 But we have to admit that Kirby's probably the one who foight the most
@@perrykv7312 Maybe.
Perhaps the butterfly is another “good-(ish)” incarnation of Void. That’s why it tends to just hang out and chill with Kirby while also being powerful enough to absorb a being like Galacta Knight. As for WHY it did that… idk, maybe it though having a fight with the Star Allies would be fun?
Forgotten Land says something along the lines of it being a being that casts judgment, so I doubt it just absorbed Galacta Knight because it saw all the fighting happening and thought it'd be fun to join in. It also absorbed Forgo to give birth to Chaos Elfilis.
My personal theory is that the butterfly (or butterflies) seek the universe for beings that can help them release chaos across the universe, but they can't absorb Kirby because although infinitely powerful he's such a good boy he can't produce chaos, so the butterfly doesn't bother absorbing him
@@juanin200 I noticed that the butterfly's powers are essentially kirby's in reverse. Both involve hijacking the power of another being, but instead of absorbing them and assimilating them into itself like Kirby, the butterfly makes the host absorb it and takes control of them. Interesting parallel, idk if it actually means anything
@@hankboog462 Now what if Kirby ate the butterfly
The next video explains it! Galacta Knight just wanted to die. The butterfly killed him out of mercy.

@@leedlelel2373 I mean canon is whatever the devs want it to be, and if they left it unclear enough that you have to decide, then it's whatever _you_ want it to be. So I'm not gonna tell you you can't think it's canon. I just have a tendency to make up my own mind on these things.

Huh, so it turns out everyone's favorite pink puff is a god born from pure positive energy.

@@undeadbatman9762 Actually, considering Paper Jam, Paper Mario is just another Mario from a parallel universe
Mario: A simple plumber who is tasked with saving the Princess of a kingdom from a fire breathing beast who leaves around eight castles and keeps before his very own which is usually surrounded by boiling lava and deep pits.
Link: A swordsman cursed alongside a princess to be reincarnated along with an evil they're forced to put an end to, he's been tossed between time, scattered through Twilight and even slept for 100 years before awakening to a once known world now filled with threats.
Samus: A bounty hunter who lost her parents to a blood thirsty space dragon, she's been in more fights than you could count and always comes out on top, she's escaped SO many planets which were set to explode it's amazing she's even survived this long.
Kirby: A small pink puffball with an appetite fit for a black hole, he's fought a dark matter in the form of a void, he's fought dark matter in the form of an eye with wings and a halo, he's gone into a mirror dimension and fought the ruler of said dimension to their last breath, he's literally fought multiple beings who were granted UNRULY powers, and has always come out on top with nothing but his trusty inhaling maw, he's also committed mass genocide over a single slice of cake.
After reading this, it's clear that even though every character listed fights beasts...kirby has fought literal gods and demons before and goes back to eating cake and apples by the end of the day which is why I'll always see him as the strongest Nintendo character
Mario actually fought and defeated several demonic entities. His gods are stronger than Kirby's.
