Small stuff really counts on a transmission. Thank you so much for posting this. I was afraid I had turned that big connector backward, but I see on your Video that it was correct, and I probably did not short it out. Still, need to drop mine out of the truck to repair. (all forward gears now, no reverse) I try to do a Cheap in truck valve repair, but Gravity was against me. Thanks Again!
Im doing same thing just in the truck still it looks so easy out of the car btw the retaining clips for solenoids came out easy but are kicking my butt trying to get them back in
I hope you're right about the EPC solenoid harness connector being the correct orientation. Literally your video is the only thing I've found about it on the internet thus far. The old style spade connector from the my old harness can only go on one way. This one is able to plug in both ways. The Rostra harness I got has a very blurry photo for reference during install and I cannot tell which orientation it is supposed to be. Fingers crossed
Appears you installed the epc connector backwards onto the epc. I don't know if it matters to be honest. Either way, I followed the wires from the old wiring harness at the connector to the epc with the old connector on it in its one way fit orientation and did the same for the new EPC harness connector to determine proper orientation. Mine has the raised ridges on the connector facing away from the epc. Hope this method of tracing wires helps anyone else who is confused about orientation of the EPC connector
the first step, which you skipped, is kicking my butt. finally got it to snap in and its not the "one way" but twisted 45 degrees counterclockwise from yours. Also not getting the connection above to cooperate.
this a long shot but i have a 2011 silverado with a 4l60e and at first it was just kicking from 1-2 so i changed solenoid but still reads p0973 then 3-4 left so i rebuilt the transmission but kept reading that code i’ve changed the tcm since i got told it might be that but still nothing now it takes forever to hit 2nd and 3rd it revs up and kicks into gears
im pretty sure the mechanic had to have cleaned it out. i just don’t want to keep wasting if it’s not going to fix it i’ve put so much into it but still no luck
@@wxlterr13 Unfortunately it's hard to say that this one thing or another could be causing this code. This code is more of a diagnostic starting point. I completely understand about not wanting to keep opening the transmission. Just the fluid alone is around 40 bucks everytime you do that. From experience, every time free time I get a code like this one like this 1 and I know I am going to be opening the Pan. I get all new AC Delco solenoids and and a wiring harness to go along with them.Just so I don't have to be opening the Transmission for these trial-and-error replacements.
Can do without the bippty boppity music. Already have a headache because jackass that rebuilt my trans reussed the 18 year old wiring harness. Can this be done without removing the transmission?
@@ScottiesHobbies okay thanks, i was a little worried I dident torque it right, when I initially removed the solenoid that bolt was a lot tighter then 8lbs, must of been stuck on thanks!
Hey I have p1860 code it's a 4l60e on 96 k2500 I had transmission rebuilt with all new stuff I also replaced the ignition switch I guess it's the wire harness other on trans side or truck side what do you think?
I've been told 93-94 4L60e transmission's are interchangeable, 95 is only 95 compatible and 96 on are interchangeable. Is this only because of the wiring harness and if so can you just switch harness to use a different year trans? I have a 93 Chevy G20 conversion van that lost drive gear. Shifts 1st to 2nd then when it's supposed to shift into 3rd it like goes into neutral.
That is a pressure control solenoid. It's super simple to remove. I'll have a quick video up by this weekend on how to remove it and possibly testing. Stay tuned.
I have 2013 Infiniti JX35 with a brand new transmission. After two days it went into safe mode and will not go over 25 mph. The dealer is telling me it now needs a $4000 wiring harness. Is this possibly true?
How can one test the old wiring harness, while installed, to see if it's bad, particularly at it's shift solenoid pin connectors? Can this be done with a test light or a continuity tester, perhaps? Thanks!
Im looking to get an entire master solenoid kit due to the fact the tcc solenoid is wired directly into the wiring harness, do you necessarily NEED to drop the transmission or valvebody, or can i do all this with everything in the truck?
Hello. I have a 2000 5.3 4l60e green connector. My replacement 2008 4l60e is black with two more pins. Will my ecu ignore this or should I switch harnesses in trans?
I will be changing out the case connector that this harness plugs into and was wondering if it is possible to do so without dropping the pan. Does the harness connection point lock into the hole? I’m afraid that if I remove the external connector the harness connector will just be pushed back into the case when I push new external connector in. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You can do this job while the transmission is in the vehicle. You do not need to remove it to get this done. I think I'm might have a newer harness video if you check out my video library. Is pretty much the same info but a very much more pleasure to watch video. If you're going to replace the harness you might as well replace all the solenoids while you're there. Or do a harness Master kit I think they are. If you look in the description of might have links for him. Also there is a 12-point socket that you're going to want to pick up too easily push out your harness connector of your transmission housing. If it's something the description I'll find the links and info for you later. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions
the cable that connects to the main transmission line to the truck. The one in begining of the vd. How do I release the cable in order to place a new master harness?? Thank you
In 2003 the harness was changed by GM. In this video I am installing this harness on a 2001 model. The two years are very similar but not the exact same. On my 2001 model you will see an extra connector right inside the transmission case from the main connector. I believe the 03 is missing that. But other than that it should be very similar.
Hey @scotties hobbies I have a 4l60e trans that’s acting up after swapping it into my Silverado. At first I only had first and second gear so I started messing around with all the VSS sensors making sure they are all plugged in since it’s 4wd and now I only have 1st gear. I noticed a small amount of trans fluid inside the round connector on top of the trans before I installed it. Is it possible fluid is leaking into the connector and shorting something out causing all kinds of problems? Thanks
Where did you get the transmission? Was it a fresh rebuild? I highly doubt transmission fluid in that connector would cause all of your problems but it is a possibility. Did you make sure that your wiring harness had continuity to your solenoids when you have the pan off?
Scotties Hobbies I had the trans in my 02 Silverado, shifted flawlessly. It sat for a couple years in the truck then I Swapped it into my 03 Silverado and it’s giving me all kinds of problems. I didn’t take the pan off.
I know the 2002 and 2003 have different ECM’s but doubt that would cause the problems. This is a 2wd computer and a 4wd trans. Wonder if the VSS are different and it’s not working correctly? The speedo seems fine
Scotties Hobbies both the 2002 and 2003 trucks are 4wd. Except the 2003 truck that the trans is in now, I did a engine and trans swap at once and also put the new ECM in the truck at the same time. The ECM is from the 2wd.
Just one thing that pops quick to mind would be the wiring. I think the harness changes somewhere around 99. Might be able to get a conversion to make it work... never looked into it tho.
Yes, its possible for it to leak eventually. Also, your system is not sealed so you can potentially get debris like brake dust or water in the tranny. If it was mine, i would fix it sooner than later.
Scotties Hobbies My connector that goes thru that hole is covered with transmission fluid i can see it leaking fron the inside, my truck is throwing a p0708 not sure if that is the issue
