Why vegetarian and not vegan? The dairy and egg industries produce tons of filth and cesspools that drain into all the rivers, lakes and eventually oceans. It’s my goal to be 100% zero waste once I live on my own. The whole zero waste movement really inspired me. I recycle and try to reduce my waste and plastic but it’s harder when you are living with your parents house. It really is scary that pretty much everything is made of plastic packaging.
This kind of deifying of her is exactly why people like me feel we need to pointout the flaws in her logic. This is sin-eating, not purity or perfection.
same in canada. We have a few in Montreal and their number is growing, but theyre all in the most expensive spot of the city, so its not really cheaper
This is very timely to hear even 7 years after she spoke. With all the product delivers and protective equipment for the pandemic among other things, we really are generating so much waste. She gave very simple steps and it certainly would do our planet a lot of good to start in our own simple ways. Cheers!
I've read Parts of mari kondo's books and this video reminded me of it. The girl isn't saying we have to reduce trash by a hundred percent , but we shouldn't be wasting so much trash in general. I have become very minimalistic after reading kondo's book and being simplistic like the girl said can really change your life. I don't buy a lot of stuff anymore and I save tons of money. I also see the important things instead of the unimportant things. Changing your life for the better does NOT mean getting rid of a lot, it just means changing some things so things are easier to do and life doesn't get so hectic.
I love how the speaker fought against being at the mercy of manufacturers. In ancient times people got to make whatever they wanted, whether it be a house or a means of transport. Today we are so dependent on shops that we have stopped trying to create anything for ourselves. We have been crippled by the system. It's time to break free!
keep spreading the word Lauren! not all of us can reach your level of discipline and dedication, but you certainly help us to be more aware of our individual packaging waste production.

BroccoliRocks I have followed her blog for a while and have tried the recipes she puts on her blog. I have found them to work very well, I would suggest you try them! =)
BroccoliRocks I've never seen her blog or anything, but I use a lot of my own home made stuff as well. My teeth aren't that good but that's partly due to me not being aware that I was calcium deficient for about 2 years. I have videos of myself in my channel, but I'd advise you not to look at my early stuff. It's kinda gross to some viewers. I can say with certainty, that natural things that you can make yourself work better than you'd expect.
+BroccoliRocks If you mean homemade cosmetics and stuff like that, then I don't really get why wouldn't you believe they work :D I mean, just because you mass produce something or make it in a factory doesn't make it better. Why would it? It's almost like you wouldn't believe a homemade bread be as good as the ones you buy from the store. Or the milk that you squeeze out of a tit of your cow can "work"/be as good as the one the walmart shelves. I don't get your thinking :D IDK if they say that in english, but where I live there's this saying: "self-made, well made". :D
Julie Kang Even if you recycle your plastics, there is a limit to how many times you can recycle them. For instance, plastic water bottles can only be recycled once or twice before going to the landfill. That is why plastic is not zero waste! :)
@@haleystorm9448 ughh :( yea i've heard that. the only thing i'm kinda managing to do is to not use plastic water bottles (which seem to be the most ridiculous use of plastic right now for me) but still they should be recycled! reuse, recycle, reduce!

It is a great idea to stock up on re-useable bamboo utensils, straws, tin containers, etc, to help avoid single-use plastic. But it is important to note that all produce and bulk items from the grocery store are shipped in plastic, so buying from grocery stores and restaurants indirectly supports tons of plastic (and food) waste. The true way to live Zero Waste is to farm your own food, live from the land, and in community.

I am Taiwanese, I feel so guilty everytime I bought something with overpackaged ,it is very important to have a good package and good presentation for goods in Taiwan inorder to make customer buy products, if the package is not good people don't want to buy, because people think the boss doesn't care about customer. it's horrible how much plastic we Taiwanese throw away everyday. but it is so competitive to do business in Taiwan, so the boss doesn't want to reduce product package. now I start bringing my own water bottle to cafe and reduce paper cup waste. I think if we people in Asia don't do something to stop this wasting resources in Asia, someday Earth would be destroyed by Asian.

Why vegetarian and not vegan? The dairy and egg industries produce tons of filth and cesspools that drain into all the rivers, lakes and eventually oceans. If you care at all about the suffering of other species, these industries are the cruelest on the planet. So easy to find, drink or make your own plant-milks, yogurts, ice creams and vegan cheese. Go vegan for the planet, the animals and your own health.
@@harveyplantharvester1502 I know. In transition. It's easy to be vegan in developed countries not in developing countries. And every small effort matters whether someone is just a vegetarian or just switched to a bamboo toothbrush.
Same here :) :)
Harvey PlantHarvester you shouldn’t bash people for not being perfect at this. You should encourage them to do better. Not everyone will go fully vegan in 1 day. Different diets work for different people. Next time please be more positive, thank you.
@@harveyplantharvester1502 you're the type of person who people steer away from. instead of making them feel bad for not being better, congratulate them on what they ARE doing.
The way she carries herself reminds me of Emma Watson
Lol I think the same too :D I was thinking about she looks similar with someone from Harry Potter movie when I watch the video, and now I know it's Hermione Granger :D
Amen to everything she said. Even if it is less than ideal for many (the way she does things), everyone should start somewhere and do what they can do leave less trash before they leave this earth. Thanks for the video. I am inspired.
Wow!! She's wonderful, it's great to see people who are really trying to save this planet. We need to learn from such people. You're truly amazing.
Thank you
She’s glowing like morning sunshine. Honest and pure. ☺️
She's so beautiful
she looks so good... She's such a natural beaty. I can see her wearing minimal makeup.
And she really cool. I guess it's not an easy way to live but it's really environmently friendly.
It’s my goal to be 100% zero waste once I live on my own. The whole zero waste movement really inspired me. I recycle and try to reduce my waste and plastic but it’s harder when you are living with your parents house. It really is scary that pretty much everything is made of plastic packaging.
Sometimes I rewatch this video to be reminded of perfection.
Cassie Vee 😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
This kind of deifying of her is exactly why people like me feel we need to pointout the flaws in her logic. This is sin-eating, not purity or perfection.
This woman is my hero.
We need more bulk shops in the UK and not just london
Hear hear
Ugh so true. Everything in our supermarkets are covered in plastic :(
same in canada. We have a few in Montreal and their number is growing, but theyre all in the most expensive spot of the city, so its not really cheaper
Same in Hong kong
We need bulk shops everywhere!
This is very timely to hear even 7 years after she spoke. With all the product delivers and protective equipment for the pandemic among other things, we really are generating so much waste. She gave very simple steps and it certainly would do our planet a lot of good to start in our own simple ways. Cheers!
THIS GURRRLLL💯💯💯 i want to be like her one day, and i’ll try to reduce plastic in my life. thank you
One day or day one
Ok
I've read Parts of mari kondo's books and this video reminded me of it. The girl isn't saying we have to reduce trash by a hundred percent , but we shouldn't be wasting so much trash in general. I have become very minimalistic after reading kondo's book and being simplistic like the girl said can really change your life. I don't buy a lot of stuff anymore and I save tons of money. I also see the important things instead of the unimportant things. Changing your life for the better does NOT mean getting rid of a lot, it just means changing some things so things are easier to do and life doesn't get so hectic.
Been constantly looking to her amazing hair, wow!
I wonder which brand of hair spray she uses.
That’s the look of natural hair shampoo
@@userthe1610 Hahaha lol
Lol same
she really smart and beautiful person. I know the messages from her speech, and I will try to become zero-waste
I love how the speaker fought against being at the mercy of manufacturers. In ancient times people got to make whatever they wanted, whether it be a house or a means of transport. Today we are so dependent on shops that we have stopped trying to create anything for ourselves. We have been crippled by the system. It's time to break free!
What a positive and genuine beautiful person with amazing energy. My new girl crush
This message should be spread to the world! 🌍
Yeah!
Именно
I consider her a Hero, a Teacher!
keep spreading the word Lauren! not all of us can reach your level of discipline and dedication, but you certainly help us to be more aware of our individual packaging waste production.
Lauren , Mother Earth prouds on you...
So inspiring! Zero waste is not easy to achieve in modern world but reducing a lot is my goal!
That is awesome. The small steps matter.
Its very possible as you can see. Ita hard when we dont wanr to take reaponaibility. We can take reusables eveeywhere so that we dont end up swnding llastic or otyer waste to landfills becausw of a flight or a dinner
I'm with you, Lauren. You're not alone)))
Her hair and skin show that she not only living no waste life but also a healthy one 😍
It shows that she uses tons of hot water thus producing tons of co2.
@@abuzarov or maybe she just washes her face and drink water ??????????
I don't think 💭 so
I still don't believe that homemade personal products can work well, but they must looking at her. She has fantastically shiny hair, great teeth, and an incredible complexion.
BroccoliRocks I have followed her blog for a while and have tried the recipes she puts on her blog. I have found them to work very well, I would suggest you try them! =)
Julia Guerrein Thank you.
Yeah, I'd hit it.
+BroccoliRocks If you mean homemade cosmetics and stuff like that, then I don't really get why wouldn't you believe they work :D
I mean, just because you mass produce something or make it in a factory doesn't make it better. Why would it? It's almost like you wouldn't believe a homemade bread be as good as the ones you buy from the store. Or the milk that you squeeze out of a tit of your cow can "work"/be as good as the one the walmart shelves. I don't get your thinking :D
IDK if they say that in english, but where I live there's this saying: "self-made, well made". :D
I really want to become an environmental scientist ahh this video is so inspiring
Her voice is so empowering.
She is a really good speaker! I love listening to her :)
if only the plastic packaging that was meant to be recycled was ACTUALLY recycled
They need to be replaced with things that are 100% recyclable like aluminum
@@Julie-jl2kk reducing is really the most important thing about plastic, and replacing it with something else whenever possible.
Morgan Bruce or glass! I got glass milk the other day 😊
she is so amazing
I did it for one month and it was surprisingly easy if you have access to a zero-waste shop where you can fill jars with pasta/rice/nuts/cereals etc.
This literally gave me shivers - I could 100% feel your passion through my laptop screen! Amazing - well worth a watch / share xxxo
Creepy comment of the day
Hope it isn't a plastic laptop!
That's the part that it's missing in human behavior create or try to understand products like ideas , she does an inspiration life devoted already , 💓
no
We are not humans, but robots without feelings and emotions. They transformed us into insensitive machines. We need to wake up and regain our humanity.

Whoever disliked this has no heart . I mean this is amazing I’m trying to do the same thing but my parents say I’m crazy but I don’t listen to them I just follow my heart ❤️
She is so genuine and beautiful , with beautiful concept n mind.
Lauren, I can honestly say that you have changed my life. Thank you:)
She looks gorgeous!
Beautiful. Inspiring. YOU GO GIRL!!!
Hey girl!
U r also doin an amazing job!
And you too, Satvic Movement ❤️😘
Mam, u can literally speak anything and you'll be getting everyone's attention just the way you speak... So logically and sweetly... You are The Most amazing orator I've ever seen

God bless you!
Excellent speech !
We should all adopt a lifestyle that respects the environment
Omg that girl is so inspiring 😍😍😍😍
I thought she was going to talk about how not to waste your life but...
Me too. I thought this video is about living life to the fullest.
ederline rosenberg that's kind of what she is doing, right?
EXACTLY !!!!
Me too
Me too 😂 But her idea is pretty interesting
A shining example how we all should be
I would marry this girl first second. Such a beautiful and natural person in and out.

She is so pretty and sweet, she can talk about anything and i will listen to her :) and i am a girl :D good luck boys
sara meachel Guy says: No boys allowed shes very angelic. I call her master I could not feel desire for her but only the greatest love, very ineffable woman.
toter vonzua yes so true ! she bring something very good and human out of me too :)
Haha, ok
you got me
Believing in yourself and doing what you like will make you happier
Way to go, Lauren. Way to go. Keep inspiring; keep up the good fight.
張添湖 ikr.. im taiwanese too :/
korean companies are producing biodegradable plastics
no offense, but i hope u dont generalize all ASIANS.
Big business practices mostly everywhere is the reason, not just u!
agree with the overpackaged products. many of the biscuits are packed in a over sized box then there’ll be a plastic tray that fills the whole box and each biscuit is individually wrap.
gets annoying when im hungry and just want to eat some junk food.
These changes start with you as a customer. If more people ask for less packaging the producer will understand that's what's in demand.
This comment section is really positive! Keep up the good work guys! ❤️🌍🌱
Thank you ted talk for bringing her here
If more people are like her, the world can become a much better place
I know, I just stated the obvious
She must be destroying corporate consumerism.
+Athenic Cuber Exactly. We all did fine without it before WWII.
+Athenic Cuber Good!
Michael Sawyer This is an English-speaking platform. I want people to understand what I'm saying.
Athenic Cuber Nope I read on. Daily mail article on her....she runs a business/website where people can purchase her homemade products. She is a greedy lying snob.
The hypocritical liberal elite ala Al Gore, wan you to reduce your carbon footprint. He's an elite so he does not have to reduce his larger than the average American carbon footprint. You know do as I say not as I do, they wan you plebs to make the sacrifices, so they won't have to.
She reminds me so much of Cher from Clueless and I don’t know why
This is the comment that I'm looking for !!
It's the hair
Yessss!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking the same 😂
And alicia silverstone is also a less waste WHAT IS THEIR SHAMPOOO HELPPP
Do you have snapchat
Thank you, Lauren, for this amazing TEDx Talk on being sustainable. It really brings home the point that a few people can make a difference.
As a minimalist I discovered that less is more. Instead of organizing stuff I'm actually free to really live. Best thing I ever did.
Epitome of true inspiration.❤️God bless people like her!
So proud of you!!! It's the collective effort of individuals that would bring about a bigger change! So hats off to you 💪
She's breathtaking. ♥️
Thank you!!! You are such an inspiration!!! I too have just started making my own body butters, body wash, and am working on making laundry detergent and dish wash soap. it is so easy and a lot of fun! It is saving me a lot of money and with what little time I have - I make it a hobby. Why not have a do it yourself party with some friends!!! It doesn't take too much time. It saves tons of money and you feel good about using natural ingredients!!! No chemicals!!! That right there is a really good feeling!!!
I know she isn’t doing this for attention, but even if she was, she is doing great for the planet.
It almost makes me cry when I saw how many wast she produce in tree year, It would be so amazing if stores were selling think without packaging. That’s a dream to became like here
this is how i spent my youth.. these same values..in the late 70s early 80s...however it was so much easier to do back then...less processed food, less products, less supermarkets, 'fast fashion' didnt exist.also as a child in the '60s...remember very little plastic, food was wrapped in grease proof paper or tinned or 'dried' eg pulses or in a glass jar.
we all cooked from scratch, no convenience food...we knitted our own jumpers,we sewed our own quilt covers, curtains, clothes etc
very different way of life to today's 'convenience ' lifestyle
such inspiration
Qué lindo mensaje. Yo empecé ya hace un tiempo a reducir mi desperdicio, hago muchos de mis productos pero aún me falta mucho por reducir. Es increíble este estilo de vida, admirables los que lo implementan.
This is so inspirational!! I’m in the midst of making some major changes to my life to be more ethical to the environment / radically reducing the plastic waste i create. Thank you for showing me what is possible. I admire you.
I would listen to this girl for hours...
I really appreciate her life style:"Zero waste"😍
And for me this women is so brave 💪cuz she can change her life style as she wants ❤
This is impossible when you live with 5 other ppl, who don't approach this kind of lifestyle. I really like the idea, so maybe Ill try when I'm on my own.
she mentioned that woman whose family, comprising of two young kids...lived a zero waste lifestyle. you could use that for reference :))
You could start zero waste now, tell your roommates about it. And if they're interested, then yay! If not, you can just do it yourself
My family is not zero waste, but I started reducing my own waste, and slowly my family started adopting some of my ideas. I am significantly more into it, but there is less waste overall being produced in my house. So don't be afraid to start on your own, it is still making a difference and you may inspire these other people to change a few things too.

yes the same happens with me! I tell my mom that if we live a waste free life, we will even be healthy. But she doesn't listen
I can’t... she is so pretty! 😍
