I want to formally thank AudioControl for not wasting my money on packaging. The packaging is the bare minimum to get the device to me. It should be that way....
Wow this company must be no more than 10 years old. This wasn’t around when I was in my audio madness stage of life 😂. Grabbed the LC2ipro it’s an impressive piece. All there items are impressive
I’ve installed stuff in many new cars that the factory Head unit/amplifier tries it’s hardest to keep you from adding anything aftermarket. Audiocontrol addressed every issue I know of with this unit. Awesome line out converter. Best I’ve ever seen.
I'm about to put an amp and sub in my new car. It's been a pretty long time since I've done this and a lot has changed. I'm glad I found this little gadget. It seems like it makes working with factory sound systems easy when it would normally be a pain in the ass
Beautiful video! I was intimidated by all of the setting when trying to swap from the regular LC2i to the pro without the manual or any understanding but you explained everything so well ! Thank you
I installed one of these in my friend's sprinter and recently bought another for my dad's sprinter specifically because of this video and I'm probably going to buy another for ny wrx, unless i change the headunit, definitely worth the cost of you don't plan on changing out your headunit!
I bought a 2013 Nissan xterra a couple of years ago with the upgraded Rockford Fosgate audio system. I had a amp and sub from another car that I wanted to integrate with this system but didn't know how. After putting it off for 2 years I finally found a shop that knew what they were doing and used the LC2i processor in the hookup. My sub has never sounded so good.
May have to get one of these. Have used the $20 Kicker, Rockford Prostate and Metra 2 channel LOC's both passive and powered and they really mute the signal to a sub. Deleting them all and plugging directly into the speaker level inputs of the amps always produces a much better and louder signal for subwoofers.
I just wanna put this out there. Many monoblock amps can recieve full range singal, split it so the mono takes a low cut singal out and send out another, separate full range to another amp. If your radio has RCA outputs, converters are not really necessary. This means that, unless your build is preformance, you can daisy chain multiple amps from one fullrange signal. Just makes it easier for new people to get better quality sound. You'll just have to send more time tuning the system
Love your vids, great simplified content. I enjoy all modern stereos in my vehicles. My needs are for classic 1983 and 1977 cars, keeping the stock radio and "cleaning up" the sound quality to modern power / speakers. Thanks.
I did this recently. Not 1,000% sure if it's the proper way of doing it. I ran 1/0 gauge big 3. And a 4 gauge ground run connecting the front grounds to the rear ground for the amps and battery that was relocated.
Fyi: Always fuse the power wire on both sides of all batteries. 2 batteries equals 3 fuse blocks minimum. And in your case, just 1 batt in rear, instead of using a distribution block under hood, should use a fuse block imo. I even fuse block my alternator power wires mainly because my alt is 390 amps. Tips I learned from JeepAndBass videos.
Nice video highly detailed .. however I have a question I notice people are using epicenters with the LC2i pro why would I need a epicenter?? And if I do or should use one will the new epicenter micro replace the lc2i giving me the best of both worlds in one unit ? ? I’m running 2 JL shallow 12’s JL RD1500
Seems like a great addition to their lineup. Wish I had waited a few months for the pro to be released but it's all good. Still love my setup regardless
Awesome explanation, but I do have a question...what if your factory system has a factory 4-wire subwoofer connection (i.e.; 2012 Jeep GC SRT)? What is the best way to connect for adding an aftermarket amplifier & subwoofer to the current system (not disconnecting the existing)?
Ok so I seen you talk about a factory system with optional subwoofer out, what about if the vehicle does not have a factory subwoofer or options. Would you still run it the normal way using both rear speakers to create the signal, same as the older style converters.
Yes, you can snag your input signal for your LC2i PRO from an OEM subwoofer, rear speakers, front speakers, etc. Won't make much difference, as long as the signal you tap into has the needed frequencies present. (i.e. the rear speaker you tap into has bass in it's signal, if you're adding an amplifier/subwoofer package)
bc some song bass notes will be at different speakers like surround sound if you only use left then you will only get what comes out of the left speaker
I just installed one taking my subwoofer outputs from my stock amp as inputs for my LCI 2 PRO. I have an amp for bass and another for mids. My mids keep trying to play as bass.
@CarAudioFabrication Is it possible to hook up 2 amps to the LC2i Pro at the same time via RCA cables (1 amp for bass and a 1 amp for mids and highs), if so any impediments or drawbacks?
Very knowledgeable I like your channel with the way you explain things make it super easy, but I would love to see you have two amplifier cooktop with that LC2i pro . I have done it but I’m having problem with RCA. Jack plugs seems like I’m only getting signal from one side. Love to hear from you Mark.
Just wire your inputs as normal (i tap into rear speakers) and set the switches accordingly (the included installation guide is pretty straightforward) but you might need trial and error
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I have learned a lot and come up with some new ideas for custom installs from you. I am working on improving the sound on my Honda Goldwing F6B right now. I want to mount the audio components underneath the top trunk from a Harley Ultra that I fabricated a mount for. This way, I'm not taking up any precious cargo room from the bike with audio equipment. The amp is easy - I'm gonna be using a marine-grade amplifier - but is there a line level controller that is waterproof or at least able to withstand being exposed to external conditions? The other idea I had was to mount the LC2i-Pro inside of a Tupperware container, and then mount that to the underside of the trunk - but I was worried about heat dissipation issues. Any ideas or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Great info. I have a 2021 F-150 Supercrew with base system, door speakers and tweeters up front. How would I know if I have a subwoofer output to tie into verses just tying into the rear speakers to add a subwoofer set up?
Thank you for the video. Question ; Do you recommend using an LC7 to convert factory Bose signal, or use the high level input ? Amp will be an Infinity 5 channel. Seeing some say the high level input and amp crossovers are better, converting down to RCA gives a weaker signal. This wasn't the case years ago, and wondering about the amps made today. Thank you
I have a 16" lexus is300....sound system is great...but I needed more bass....I bought a rockford fosgate 12 " sub and the Amp for it....had it put in professionally...3 hours later the sub busted... my cars radio goes up to 65...I had it on 50...sounded sooo good....wondering if I get this, will it help?
Great video! About the bass knob, do I connect it to the lC2i pro, or do I connect it to the amp. Should I tune the Lci2 pro first and then the amp? Same frequency for both? I came across this issue while watching your vid. Thank you and I'll keep watching
Great video! Where did you get the power from for LC2i PRO? Did you grab it off the factory installed amp wiring harness or did you run directly to the car battery? Where can I find my cars wiring info? Having no luck at all. Need to tap into my rear speakers in order to hook up my Focal Bomba BP20 powered sub. I have a 2022 VW Tiguan R-Line NO Fender audio system. Appreciate any help or info on getting me started. Thank you!
Best video i just ordered mine. One question if i make use of GTO setting will still line out work? Because i want my both LC2i and Amplifier to work when there is power in my speakers thanks
In some cars adding an after market deck will make things even harder plus you will lose some car functions depending on your vehicle. A new deck might actually be harder.
Nope, it certainly doesn't have to, the LC2i PRO can be used with both "basic" or "non-amplified" factory sound systems as well as "premium" or "amplified" systems.
Yes u can do that’ Also check this video hopefully it will help u out bud’ 2 amps is pretty easy once u have done it a few times’ sometimes even grabbing blank paper and a quick sketch helps u map it out ua-cam.com/video/zh0x8CiW4f0/v-deo.html
Hello, i'm looking into installing a subwoofe into my bmw M2. my car is fitted with the harman kardon system (360w total -> dont know how much power is on the underseat "sub"woofers) should i install a high level conerter which is designed to handle more power if i'm only getting the signal from it? i'm not disconnecting the stock speakers. thanks a lot, i like your vids a lot!
After watching video, do I set amp gain all the way down then set level on LC2i , after that set the amp gain with DIM and then last accu bass. A little confused on the order after setting maximized light.
Disconnect the Rcas to the amp, (meaning the gain level on the amp doesn’t matter at this point)play a 50hz test Tone at 3/4 volume (you shouldn’t hear anything because the RCAs are disconnected) increase level until Maximize light turns on then back off until it goes away. Then plug rcas back on and play familiar song and increase AMP gain until you hear distortion/clipping and back off a little
@@RuuDBoY868 you set the gain first for the lc2i then if your getting a good clean signal you shouldn’t have to turn the gain up on the amp well for me i don’t have to cause the lc2i is putting out the power and then you tune the accubass last after all that
If I have an audio control 1.800 mono sub amp. Do I need the LC2i? Doesn’t this amp already have a line out converter built into the amp? I’d just take the sub speaker wires into the speaker wire input on the amp?
So l set the Lc2i pro’s output first just under clipping, then set my amp the same way as the LC did not cause it to clip yet. Then I set the Accubass. Do I go back and check amp or does the amp go last after both LC settings are dialed in?
My factory amp in my 2021 kia forte has two pairs of sub wires but one sub so I assume it's a dual voice coil sub. Can I just tap into one pair of the sub wire to the Left input on the LC2 like you did in the video or would I have to tap into both?
Hopefully I understand this correctly. Amp has a max 5v input but the LC2i is up to 9 something. How do you make sure you are not outputting to many volts to the amp. Can this be done with just the max light or should put a volt meter on one the RCA leads feeding to the subwoofer amp?
What if my amplifier already has HL input. Is it convenient to get this product to install it on my factory stereo? Is this product going to upgrade the quality output from my factory stereo?
Hello Mark, I recently purchased a Toyota suv with a JBL system in it. What issues will I be facing when installing my Lc2i that will be different than a typical install on a vehicle with a non JBL system? And what would you recommend? I’m prepared to install front door speakers with their own isolated amp, and subs with their own amps as well. All input is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!
I have mk6 golf 2013 with dynaudio system and I would like to add a subwoofer to it .., just got the LC2i pro Can you please help me what’s the best way to do this … thnx
On the original lc2i what are the jumpers for outside of the remote turn on there's four jumpers on the speaker out wires when I jump them the volume increased and I don't know if I should leave it or if I should put it back
So I have a 2019 Malibu lt that has only door speakers (front and back) And tweeters on the dash area, so my question is where do I get a “subwoofer” signal from with no factory subwoofer? Or do I use the back door speaker connections? Thanks in advance and love the videos. Very informative
i got my signal from behind the head unit, i located my frond door speaker wires that connects to the radio which is 4 wires positive and negative for both sides and spliced it and connect new wire and ran it all the way to the back to the lc2i. it was really simple
I’m wiring a mono amp and I’ll be using the leads from the factory 6x9s will this be ok? Will it be considered a bass signal from the factory amplifier? How would I know?
Heya! I know this video is a bit older, and I may not get a response. I just recently installed an amp (jl audio vx1000/1i) and 2 jl audio subwoofers (10tw3-8) in a stealthbox in my 2019 ram limited with the Harmon/kardon system. I used the lc2i pro to get the signal for my amp. After setting up the threshold I noticed that when my volume was low and/or a song wasn’t terribly “bassy” my subwoofers wouldn’t play at all. In some cases they would play a bit during heavy bass, then skip notes or stop playing within the same song when the level of bass was more variable. I turned the threshold all the way up to maximum and that fixed my problem, now the subwoofers play at all volume levels and during every portion of the song regardless of the prominence of the bass. I suppose my question is, would there be any negative side effects to turning the threshold to the max? I’ve had the system set up for approximately 2 weeks and I just turned up the threshold tonight, it sounds great, but I’m not sure what the long term effects could be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
keeping the threshold all the way to the right will just have accubass on at all times and the level is to adjust how much bass comes from that. you don’t want to have the level all the way to the right cause you would be clipping cause how much bass your giving your subs. so for me i have my bass output level set and then i go to the accubass threshold and have it all the way to the right and then with the level all the way to the left i turn it up till the maximize light turns on and then i back off a little
If my stock system amp is connected to a dual voice coil sub (the amp has 2 sets of speaker wires running to the single factory sub) would I tap all 4 for the LC2i's input?
Man that's the same question i have. Please let me know if you figured out. I need to know if i can tap to the wires going to my stock woofer. 2016 f150 king ranch
@@oscararreguin4246 Yes that is what I did. I tapped into the speaker wire running from my stock amp to the subwoofer, a positive & negative for left, then positive & negative for right. I also used a Y type of connection for this and kept the factory sub connected still. Have had it hooked up for months now and it works great. Hope this helps and if you need anything else let me know. Because I know what its like figuring this all out and doing it yourself.
Hi, Superb, clear info on your channel! Here's my question: Since I have the Uconnect system in my Challenger with the 276 watt Alpine branded system ( 6 speakers), I will use the Lc2i pro to get signal from the rear speakers in the deck, But will tapping for signal on just one speaker lower the voltage going to the speaker? Q2- I will be putting in the Rockford Fosgate P300-12 for the trunk, how will this Lc2i Pro work with that built in amp? Obviously, the factory amp is less than great. Note: I have already upgraded the dash and rear deck speakers, the doors are next. ) I thank you in advance!
When setting the levels do you turn the factory radio to 100%,? Like setting the level gain on an amp? If so, when the system cuts power to save the factory sub doesn't this mess up this test?
Hello, I am going to be installing a jbl bass pro hub in my 2017 mazda 6 with bose system. Would I need one of these to integrate it into my system? I have noticed the pac aoem maz2 type harness that allows plug n play to the taus by the glovebox. If I had one of these types of harnesses would I need the LC2i or LC1i as well? If so how would that be hooked up if both are needed? Or is it either one or the other? The jbl basspro hub is the spare tire sub that is powered. I had read that there can be bass roll off and issues with a weaker signal, I want to make sure it sounds the best it can. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy your very informative videos!
Could you do a video of installing speakers in the bed of a truck and in the cab. But being able to turn off the ones in the bed and leave the ones in the cab on. And maybe will your doing that make it so the ones in the bed run off a second battery so they can play when the trucks off
If I tap into the factory sub? Can I leave it hooked and still run an aftermarket amp to. Also is it ok to only run one source in to converter if factory bass amp only has one line or should I tap into the full range speakers on the deck lid? Thx fo any info
Yeah it's pretty sweet imo. I just bought one to help me put a sub in my car. Yeah I spent an extra $130 on a device that does something that some amps already do on their own, but I actually saved about as much money as I would have spent on the other amp with high level inputs
I have a 2000 Monte Carlo that I'm putting a aftermarket head unit into with its factory amp and it will need a line converter. I found one from Audiocontrol called The Matrix Plus with six outputs..is that too much for my car and will I be fine getting a LC2i Pro??
I have a grand caravan with a factory sub. It’s a dual voice coil sub so there are 4 wires. How do you wire those 4 wires to the lc2i pro ? I was told to use all 4 wires at all connections on the lc2i, but it sounds like poo. What is the correct way to wire it to lc2i. Thanks
So now I’m getting confused…. I have a 2018 Durango but do I need a LOC like the one in the bud or an Advanced Amp Pro like the PAC? Or do I need something even different?!? For now I will keep stock unit, infinity REF components for front and back and tweeters. Will add a sub and amp for all later. Should I do 4, 5, or 6 channel amp with what hook up to the dash unit??? Help!!!!!!
You would follow the same gain setting procedure as always. It will be a different value for every amp. Here is a video about setting an amp properly: ua-cam.com/video/tiOUd3NkOyQ/v-deo.html
Eric Goodman I watched both videos, correct me of I’m wrong. I’m assuming you set your gains on your amp first with either the DD1 or a DVM. Then tune the LC2i from there
You guys are overthinking this. You set gain just like you always would on the amp. You always set levels at the most "upstream" device and work downstream. So LOC always before amp.
I installed the LC2i pro on my 2018 f150 xl with 8” screen, however the Lc2i will not shut off. Have tried all the settings and won’t shut off. I also only used signal from right rear door to left input, should I connect to both inputs from two sources or one speaker is fine?or what am I missing why won’t it shut off. My truck does not have aftermarket amp.
I want to formally thank AudioControl for not wasting my money on packaging. The packaging is the bare minimum to get the device to me. It should be that way....

Yes u can do that’
Also check this video hopefully it will help u out bud’ 2 amps is pretty easy once u have done it a few times’ sometimes even grabbing blank paper and a quick sketch helps u map it out

Would also love further clarification on this, i set by ear but always prefer a real method
When the amp is connected by remote to the lci, do you need to have the power and ground still connected to the engine?
Hopefully I understand this correctly. Amp has a max 5v input but the LC2i is up to 9 something. How do you make sure you are not outputting to many volts to the amp. Can this be done with just the max light or should put a volt meter on one the RCA leads feeding to the subwoofer amp?
At what level should the bass knob be at though when tuning the LC2i pro? You never explained that
so would you still need your 12v and ground if you do the GTO setting?
What if my amplifier already has HL input. Is it convenient to get this product to install it on my factory stereo? Is this product going to upgrade the quality output from my factory stereo?
Hello Mark, I recently purchased a Toyota suv with a JBL system in it. What issues will I be facing when installing my Lc2i that will be different than a typical install on a vehicle with a non JBL system? And what would you recommend? I’m prepared to install front door speakers with their own isolated amp, and subs with their own amps as well. All input is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!
I have mk6 golf 2013 with dynaudio system and I would like to add a subwoofer to it .., just got the LC2i pro
Can you please help me what’s the best way to do this … thnx
Is there any way to fade to the rear while using a Lc2i? Or would i need to switch to a Lc7i and also pull signal from the rear?
Yes you would need more channels to retain fade if using the LC product to add signal for more than just the two channels.
Do you have to use both right and left speakers or can you just tap into one?
Thanks!
keeping the threshold all the way to the right will just have accubass on at all times and the level is to adjust how much bass comes from that. you don’t want to have the level all the way to the right cause you would be clipping cause how much bass your giving your subs. so for me i have my bass output level set and then i go to the accubass threshold and have it all the way to the right and then with the level all the way to the left i turn it up till the maximize light turns on and then i back off a little
So if installing an amp and a Lc2ipro which do I tune 1st?
Note: I have already upgraded the dash and rear deck speakers, the doors are next. )
I thank you in advance!
Enjoy your very informative videos!
can i install it to run just the new speakers i installed without adding an amp
So if I got these cheap $5 converters am I losing power & if I get one like the Lc7 will it give me more power to my subwoofers
Do you still need a lc2i if you have an aftermarket stereo?
Could you do a video of installing speakers in the bed of a truck and in the cab. But being able to turn off the ones in the bed and leave the ones in the cab on.
And maybe will your doing that make it so the ones in the bed run off a second battery so they can play when the trucks off
If I tap into the factory sub? Can I leave it hooked and still run an aftermarket amp to. Also is it ok to only run one source in to converter if factory bass amp only has one line or should I tap into the full range speakers on the deck lid? Thx fo any info
Wow, talk about controlling audio - There are a lot of features in that little affordable rectangle!
Yeah it's pretty sweet imo. I just bought one to help me put a sub in my car. Yeah I spent an extra $130 on a device that does something that some amps already do on their own, but I actually saved about as much money as I would have spent on the other amp with high level inputs
What do you think about the jbl basspro sl2? Is it a good subwoofer?
Can you conect a mids and highs amp and also a bass amp to this lc2i pro?...
I have a 2000 Monte Carlo that I'm putting a aftermarket head unit into with its factory amp and it will need a line converter. I found one from Audiocontrol called The Matrix Plus with six outputs..is that too much for my car and will I be fine getting a LC2i Pro??
Why do use a -10 db 40hz? Thanks in advance!
Thanks
If the factory system does not has a subwoofer terminal and I still wanna install a subwoofer using amp and loc, what will then be my speaker input?
So now I’m getting confused…. I have a 2018 Durango but do I need a LOC like the one in the bud or an Advanced Amp Pro like the PAC? Or do I need something even different?!?
For now I will keep stock unit, infinity REF components for front and back and tweeters. Will add a sub and amp for all later.
Should I do 4, 5, or 6 channel amp with what hook up to the dash unit???
Help!!!!!!
Question. Aside from the great explanation of how to set the LC2i. Where would the gains for the amplifier be set at?
You would follow the same gain setting procedure as always. It will be a different value for every amp. Here is a video about setting an amp properly: ua-cam.com/video/tiOUd3NkOyQ/v-deo.html
Would you set the amp gain before the LC2i or after the LC2i ?
Eric Goodman I watched both videos, correct me of I’m wrong. I’m assuming you set your gains on your amp first with either the DD1 or a DVM. Then tune the LC2i from there
DrewPlus if the LC2i is the source of input for the amplifier, how do you set the amplifier without it?
You guys are overthinking this. You set gain just like you always would on the amp. You always set levels at the most "upstream" device and work downstream. So LOC always before amp.
How to set amp gains along with lc2i??
My lc2i pro has scratchy noise when using bass level knob. Also the led on the bass knob is yellow. Should it be green?
I installed the LC2i pro on my 2018 f150 xl with 8” screen, however the Lc2i will not shut off. Have tried all the settings and won’t shut off. I also only used signal from right rear door to left input, should I connect to both inputs from two sources or one speaker is fine?or what am I missing why won’t it shut off. My truck does not have aftermarket amp.
So how did you find the clipping point on the factory radio?
Listening carefully, I guess.
