For anybody with a newer car, you should look into whether your stock radio requires a certain resistance level from the speakers to work correctly. After I installed the LC7i in my 2022 Outback Wilderness, I wasn't getting any sound from the rear speakers and the radio volume control was sluggish and not actually controlling the volume anymore. It turns out, the LC7i does not place an electrical load on the stereo, so the car thought that the rear speakers had been disconnected and stopped working properly as a result. To address this, you can look into the AC LGD made by Audio Control that attaches very easily to the LC7i, or if that won't work (some cars require a very specific resistance), you can just order and install a couple of resistors to the signal leads right before they go into the LC7i to get the stereo to behave correctly again.
A lot of great information, that is truly appreciated. It's thanks to people like you, who take their time on the Tube, that help so many of us out here. Kudos! 👍
This product definitely made it possible to upgrade my entire basic sound on my 2016 Camaro by adding a 4 channel Amp and a Mono channel for my subwoofers 🔊
Thank you for making this content. It's helping me a ton with understanding how and why I would want to put this into 1 of my Subaru's. Although I so feel somewhat overwhelmed still with the process and how to do it correctly to get the peak efficiency of everything, I appreciate this video nonetheless. Thanks and I really hope you love your new STI as much as I love my 13 WRX and 07 STI.
Finally someone explained the subwoofer channel Thanks!!!!! What do you think LC7i is enough or should I spend more money to buy the DM-608 with more options and software to configure it?
I've seen more videos on the LC7 than I'd like to admit & this is by far the best & only one that truly explains the inner workings well. Thank you for that!! I purchased this recently & an still struggling on how to / where to splice into my factory amp. I'm trying to avoid running new wire back to my 4 door speakers & utilize the wiring that's already there.
@@akqjtn trying to figure out where I splice into the wiring at for my signal going into the LC8...the speaker wires going into the factory amplifier or coming out? I have a '14 Edge Sport w/ the Sony 12 speaker system and I plan to utilize the factory amp for most of the stock speakers and the front doors, front tweeters, & rear door speakers I plan to bypass the factory amp and run through my aftermarket amp. I'd like to avoid having to run new wiring and utilize the wiring that is already in place, but I'm a little confused on where to splice in and it's not the easiest to identify which wires are going in and which are coming out, with sooooo many wires! My end game goal is to utilize the LC7 to run an aftermarket amp to power 6 speakers that I've already upgraded (front doors, front tweeters, and rear doors - all aftermarket Infinity speakers) & also connect to the LC7, my Orion 2500 mono amp that is currently powering (2) SA-12 v2's, which at the moment I'm using a basic Kicker LOC.
OK, the beauty about the LC7i is that the channels can handle up to 400watts in so you could easily plug in post Amp if that's easiest. That said, best practice would be to use the signal before the Amp because that signal is cleaner since it's not already amplified.
@@akqjtn so, I spliced into my front door speakers for my main input, rear doors for my channel 2, & spliced into my factory subwoofer wiring for my 3rd channel. Can you confirm that this is correct please?
CAF is a life saver for audio installation advice. I've learned so much from that channel. Just bought the LC7i for use in my 2016 F-150 with the 8" Sync 3 7-speaker system (not Sony). Just got it hooked up and am ready to blast some tunes with a clean signal using my OEM head unit. It's a spendy piece of equipment and I wish it had an EQ controller for the same price but maybe I'm asking too much? I don't really want to add in so many signal chain units because space isn't unlimited but maybe I'll end up doing that down the line because I'm sure I'll eventually get annoyed with my limited control with a simplistic 3-band EQ.
Been looking for a few answers you gave me about this thing for hours, thank you so much for the detailed explanation. First time installing anything audio related into my car, nervous.
I'm wondering where you accessed all the headunit outputs, and also if you made sure the aftermarket tweeter impedence matched what the telematics unit was expecting to see.
I had the LOC installed with the factory head unit, for the mere fact I thought I could not change the head unit. When I found the kit for my car I got installed an after market head unit, I left the LOC still installed with the after market HU. I am wondering if I can still use the LOC with after market head unit. By the way great presentation!!! Please I'd like to hear some feedback.. Thank you.
Thank you for this video!! You answered all the questions I have for this unit's operation!! This confirmed that I made the right decision in buying this!!
Great vid as always! I have a question about your previous video (long long ago but somewhat related to this vid) about the Alpine KTP-445U. I know you ran that to your Rockford Fosgate amp in your WRX - but would I be able to run the KTP445U as the only amp I have? If so, I believe I'd have to tap it to the battery directly to power it, am I correct?
Regarding your front speakers and tweeters that you mentioned at 1:19, how do you combine the signal for each on this unit when only using the first two sets of inputs (assuming the third set will be left empty in order to duplicate the rear speaker channel for the sub)? Edit: nevermind, I watched it again and you mentioned they are already wired in parallel. I wonder if the same is true in my car for the front door speakers and tweeters (factory)... most likely as they are technically only one channel.
Love the video and how you explain how the LC7I work my question is I’m putting 2amps in my 2021 jeep wrangler will this work for me because I want to hook everything up to my factory radio
Only question I have is will this bypass the issue of a factory amp? Just spent 10+ hours in a sound shop and my Jeep gladiator is causing havoc with trying to have 2 amps. I’m looking for a solution and I am tempted to pull the trigger on this to see if it works
Hey boss, good work. Where did you get/buy the diagram for your factory stereo, to find out which channels are being attenuated and which are full range without processing by the head unit? I'm in the process of upgrading my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee stereo and that is the one thing I need to know before biting the bullet, spending over $1000 just to then get a crappy signal to my system is annoying.
Great video I have the same senerio Asked a audio shop and they said replace the head unit . Smh I have been searching for clear answers for combining this with the Alpine amp shown and you answered them all 👍
Best video on the LC7I on basically how to install. What is the Alpine unit you have in the video? I was considering the Rockford fosgate 6 channel AMP in correspondence to the LC7I. Do you think that would be okay or would you use a separate in line amp for the speakers
Boost & Shutter that’s what I figured, since it is grabbing the signal from that second channel for the sub. Do you think it would still be alright to run dual subs, or just one
Bradley Sproul to answer your last question. You can run duo duals depending on how much watts the subs are and how much watts are on your amp. For example I have 2 12 inch subs that are 1800 watts total so I got a 2500 watt amp. Also your door speakers for example if they are power range: 5-55 watts RMS (110 watts peak power) than you wold need the 2500 watt amp to hang with that amount of power. Sometimes it depends on the brand of amp you got too.
Thanks for the video, great stuff.I have a question about my current build. I have AudioControl LC7i Black 6-Channel Line Output Converter, 2 after market amps(4ch amp and 2 ch amp(for subs) connecting to a factory Ford radio(i have no choice of using an after-market radio). I'm running 125watt rms to the doors(4ch) so I will use after market speaker cable, not factory internal speaker wire. So with this, im thinking these speaker wires will connect from 4ch amp to the door speakers, which makes sense but my question is where does the 2 sub speaker wire connect from the LC7i to the harness(im using PAC LPHFD31 harness) as the harness will only have the 4 pairs, not 6 which I would need?
very helpful, thank you. For a 2017 Toyota 4 Runner with a non JBL stereo, would you recommend using the stock speaker wire? I've upgraded the dash and front door speakers. Thanks in advance!
Great Video - If I have a Factory Amp (Honda Civic Si 2013) It is my understanding the LC7i would accept the wires for all 5 channels (F, R, SW) from the Factory Amp, then the LC7i would convert the signal form High to Low, the I can run the signal to Amp 1 (Front and Rear) and Amp 2 for Subwoofer. Am I understanding that correctly? Thank you for the hard work on the videos.
Basically same setup I have. Not having much luck with setup tho. On my amp, Ch 2, Ch 4 have 38 volts on the speaker outputs with the gain at 0. But Ch 1, and Ch 3 have 17 volts which I have adjusted for gain setting. Amp keeps overheating. Very frustrating
I have a 2020 WRX and have done a lot of work using your videos as guides, so thank you! I currently have a 5 channel amp powering my speakers and sub. The amp came with high level inputs so I didn't NEED a line output converter, but I've been very disappointed with the sound. I feel like I'm not getting the best out of the amp and speakers, so I think I'm going to get get a LC7i. This should really improve the sound, right?
Once this is setup how up properly.... how often do you have to tweak it? Is it wise to mount it inside the dash or is it something that should be mounted out in the open, which would allow easy access to continued fine tuning??????
Great video and very informative, but with all the features and capabilities of that LC7i the install can easily get some one confused if your not very familiar with it!!! I'm new to your channel now as a subscriber so I will continue to watch your videos and hopefully learn a lot more of all the new car audio equipment that's out in the market like the LC7i and other products from AUDIO CONTROL and from other brands that you may present in your videos!!! 👍👍👍
Hello what I would like know is if you connected this Pack Unit before or after the original equipment amplifier, on the input side coming out of the stereo or on the output side coming out of the factory amplifier?
Very informative but I’m still confused on if the stock car came with 5 speakers (4 doors a center speaker and 2 Pilar tweets) will the lc7i work? Will I still have access to fade and balance from the stock control of the deck?
I hope you are still active on here, you have the best explaination video on this ever. Question. How would i tap into my factory amp (in my case mark levinson amp from 08 lexus gs 350) so that it can connect to the audio control unit?
I dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Ayaan Grant thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Most likely he has component speakers with crossover in the front. The amp sends the signal to the crossover and the crossover sends the signal to the tweeter and the mid bass speaker
Just finished watching your second video and again Great job!! It's going to make setting the gains much easier rather than just trying to listen for the distortion. 👍👍👍
Hey my man I need some help!! I watched your videos many times and still a little uncertain of what I need to do. I have a 2020 Wrx that I installed Alpines S series on the doors with kicker tweeters. Still have factory head unit that I am trying to work with. To make sound quality better your saying I need a LC and amplifier? Do I have to cut into factory wires to ensure STARLINK still works? How did you do that with the telematics? Sorry for being so long, I want to learn how to do this, electricity has always been my weakness smh.
Thank you for Your In Depth Explanations. Can you go In Depth In What you Would Need and What to do to Upgrade a current Hardon Kardon System for a 2017 STI while retaining the Factory Head Unit. Would Appreciate the Guidance!
Is the signal coming from the front speakers out of the head unit stronger than the rear like you said in the video? But wouldnt that be sending more high and mids to the subwoofer when it should be getting lows? Asking because I installed it that way and feel like the bass isnt hitting the lows but rather the highs and mids.. Should i just switch the rears to the channel 2 and the fronts to the main that way the sub gets more lows?
What if I have 3 way speakers? Can I still bridge them together and still use it as 4 channel? And use the sub line ? I have 6(tweeter, mid, woofer) in the front and 4 (tweeter, woofer) back doors
If you have a setup like that in the car, mostly you have a premium audio system by factory's default. Honestly even if you upgrade to a active line output plus a DSP and amplifier, you won't "hear" a big difference (not for the money you invested, at least). But at the end of the day, if you still want to do it, keep in mind that 3 way speaker setup from the door, is most likely a single Ch with a build in crossover.
Man this helped out alot thanks I have a question I have 2016 chrysler 300 can I have seen to wire after factory amp so I need to run all my wire from speakers to lc7i for best use
I bought it also because of this video but I have a 2016 chrysler 300c and crutcfield is telling me I need the pac amp pro for my car so then there wouldn't be a need for this im assuming but I already spent the money on this im confused if this lc7i will work
I guess im confused about the factory amp part im also upgrading or already have just havnt installed yet a mono amp and a 4 channel amp lost on how to do it thinking about just cutting the speaker wires after the factory qmp to get signle ?thanks for the response
He really made me feel like the people I paid to do my install did not do it right because using the LC7i for what he indicated and how it should properly be done I do not feel that the audio company I went to went in depth to making sure I got the quality sound I deserve for the money I spent on all of my equipment
I'm having to get one of these because I'm buying a 17 Audi s8. Can I still install my big system and highs amp and sub amp off of this. This is all new technology to me haha. Great video
Can i use lc7i just for a sub install? And where would i get signal from? 2018 Raptor with B&O system. Already have one from previous car but not replacing door speakers yet in new truck.
My question is why would you connect your sub to front channels if the LC corrects the signal output in a stock radio and accubass corrects the rolloff? My main reason is that by doing this fading capability would be lost, let's say front are a little too loud you would fade back and lower the front volume but this would also lower the sub.
In this HU, the rear channel is highly attenuated. That means that using that channel will result in needing to turn up the gain considerably for the sub, which is less than ideal and results in disconnected, hollow-sounding bass without an epicenter. Yes you lose fading, but since the front and back have their own adjustments on the in-line Amp, you can simply fade the system that way before the sub is even installed.
My car does have a tweeter emit Tweeter and then of course the little mid-range sub for the doors and rear doors you think I need this lc7i for my setup
I have a 2017 WRX with the Harmon Kardon system. If I got one of these would I be able to use it to add a pair of subwoofers and an amp to the stock system without changing anything else? Thanks.
I was thinking the same thing. Most of the newer amps if you have noticed have the high level inputs in them as well. Not sure how much of a difference this will do over what is built into the amp. Can anyone chime in that has experience with this?
Also I have been to a few different audio install places and and some have even said that "its a must" to have an LOC" even after I have told them that the amp has the built in high level inputs, I don't know if this is just another thing for them to sell or what. '
Thanks for the info! Your video answered my LC7i questions. With regards to your front tweeters and mids did you take each of +/- wires from each driver (left & right, respectively) and combined them, then run a single wire (+/-) to the LC7i? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Thanks for the video. i lost mine 3 pin jumper switch on left for internal summing. where can i find the replacement or what this switch or jumper called? i tried to search it online but no luck
I need help if you can. I have an LC7i, but I also have an epicenter. My factory system does have a subwoofer and my rear speakers are full range. What inputs would I need to connect in the LC7i so that my epicenter can get a full range signal to do its job ? Currently had subwoofer input from factory in channel 3 input, and channel 3 output to epicenter. To my understanding this is incorrect.
How did you find out that your system has a built in crossover? Since your fronts are components with an external crossover, it's probable you don't have an internal crossover and could have just done with an amp with speaker level inputs and retain fade control from the head unit, or do I have that wrong?
I’m trying to figure out if I need this or not I just got my subwoofer installed by Best Buy yesterday and the guy told me it’s not getting enough power from the head unit I guess so the subwoofer isn’t hitting as it should at a high volume and actually it’s not sounding good at all. What would fix that? I know I need a equalizer but I’m having a hard time choosing which one I actually need
I have a lc8i connected to my factory head unit with an external equalizer. I have 5 amps with gain control. So technically I have 3 ways to adjust volume (output level for lc8i, external equalizer volume, and head unit volume). What would be the best way to tune my system?
Hello I have an old pioneer head which has separate rca outs only for the subs Do you think it would be better to drive the subs separately on channel three? Thanks
Awesome video. Details are specific and on point. I got me a new truck and don’t want to put in an AM stereo since no one seems to hv the wires for al the new features so this video helped a lot. Wish there was a section on adding an EQ on to this as well.
If my car's wiring harness has separate wires for highs, mids, & lows, do I sum the signal on the LC7i if my front speakers are a component sets that have crossover networks??
Can I use this for just a sub amp I have all the upgrade spekers and 4 channel amp im just trying to do one thing at a time only thing is ill be using only rear speakers to tap in how do I sum or can I even do that thanks this vid is why I bough this good video thanks

Awesome 👌. Can i hook up two monoblock amplifiers and three 4 channel amplifiers with a 8 channel dsp to this lc7 ?
Hello what I would like know is if you connected this Pack Unit before or after the original equipment amplifier,
on the input side coming out of the stereo or on the output side coming out of the factory amplifier?
Very informative but I’m still confused on if the stock car came with 5 speakers (4 doors a center speaker and 2 Pilar tweets) will the lc7i work? Will I still have access to fade and balance from the stock control of the deck?
Any preference between this LC7i or a DSP like the DQ-61?
I hope you are still active on here, you have the best explaination video on this ever. Question. How would i tap into my factory amp (in my case mark levinson amp from 08 lexus gs 350) so that it can connect to the audio control unit?
Incredible video my friend! Very informative and well done. 💪 Thank you! 🙏
Right now I currently have a cheap regular high to low converter hooked up to a 4 channel amp and a subwoofer amp with the audio control Epic Center
This was very useful and I look forward to your video about setting the accubass and gains
I dont mean to be offtopic but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Jaime Cody instablaster =)
@Ayaan Grant thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out now.
I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Ayaan Grant it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass !
@Jaime Cody No problem :D
I enjoyed your vid. Thank you. I was looking for the vid on how you set the gains. Did I miss something in your playlists? 👍👍
Thank you so much man. Just the information I needed for my install
Best video I seen, every other video don't show u like u did, thank u so much it helped me out a lot!
So you cut your speakerwires at your oem unit?
The lc2i pro can be used with two amps as well if I’m not mistaken
I have the AudioControl LC7i Black 6-Channel Line Output Converter with Bass Restoration and two amps installed
What's the difference between LC7i and a 3 way crossover? Do they do the same task? Can you install both together?
I've been wondering tha same thing
Your videos are so helpful! I got the same amp and loc to upgrade my Honda CR-V sound system using the stock head unit.
Great content, so easy to follow
Good video bro. I have 1 question, so you front speaker are connected with the tweeters also to the LC7i?????
Most likely he has component speakers with crossover in the front. The amp sends the signal to the crossover and the crossover sends the signal to the tweeter and the mid bass speaker
Speakers don’t connect to the LC7i at all
Great video !!! Very informative.
I'm adding the same one to my challenger. Can't wait to get rid of this crappy alpine system.
Glad it helped and good luck!
Just finished watching your second video and again Great job!!
It's going to make setting the gains much easier rather than just trying to listen for the distortion. 👍👍👍
What are the biggest differences between the LC7i and the LC6i?
The LC7i has accubase and the 6i doesn't. Other than that they're the same
A good attention to detail video about the cars electronic sound system. Stay safe Sir.
An LC7i or similar
Is the signal coming from the front speakers out of the head unit stronger than the rear like you said in the video? But wouldnt that be sending more high and mids to the subwoofer when it should be getting lows? Asking because I installed it that way and feel like the bass isnt hitting the lows but rather the highs and mids.. Should i just switch the rears to the channel 2 and the fronts to the main that way the sub gets more lows?
Is there any lag between the changes to the volume knob and the signal output?
The best video I have watched on this subject
Thank you
Agreed... I always hear about the LC7 but that’s the first real break down of it that I’ve heard
Does this prevent the need for an electronic crossover if using multiple amps?
I wanna know too
Thank you!!! Where is the video on tuning the LC7i?
Okay I'm looking forward to it!!! You explained everything else great!
FINALLY! I understand what hell those things do. Thank you!!!
Man this helped out alot thanks I have a question I have 2016 chrysler 300 can I have seen to wire after factory amp so I need to run all my wire from speakers to lc7i for best use
I am looking to install one of these. How would I go about providing a dedicated remote in wire to turn on the LOC?
Did everything go good im doing the same thing just seeing how it worked for you
I bought it also because of this video but I have a 2016 chrysler 300c and crutcfield is telling me I need the pac amp pro for my car so then there wouldn't be a need for this im assuming but I already spent the money on this im confused if this lc7i will work
I guess im confused about the factory amp part im also upgrading or already have just havnt installed yet a mono amp and a 4 channel amp lost on how to do it thinking about just cutting the speaker wires after the factory qmp to get signle ?thanks for the response
What wire connections did you use from the head unit to the LC7i to your channels 1 & 2?
He really made me feel like the people I paid to do my install did not do it right because using the LC7i for what he indicated and how it should properly be done I do not feel that the audio company I went to went in depth to making sure I got the quality sound I deserve for the money I spent on all of my equipment
I’m putting 2 10s in my 2021 Chevy Silverado do you think I would need one of these
I'm having to get one of these because I'm buying a 17 Audi s8. Can I still install my big system and highs amp and sub amp off of this. This is all new technology to me haha. Great video
Best explanation yet!
This is only necessary if you want to keep your stock deck
I have a 2017 WRX with the Harmon Kardon system. If I got one of these would I be able to use it to add a pair of subwoofers and an amp to the stock system without changing anything else? Thanks.
Yes!
Can the inputs receive line level RCA signals and "Clean" them up with more power and take advantage of the Accubass feature?
I have a question, you can use a 5 channel amp instead of using two amps.
yes
do you lose the fader function?
@@s2000pill No
Whats the advantage of using the audio control LC7i opposed to using the high level input that i see your Rockford Fosgate has built into it?
"Accu Bass" I would presume, unless the amp actually provides something similar.
'
@@call_me_lou34 Accubass is necessary if using a stock HU , also the signal summing, both the Rockford will not do.
Thanks very helpful I just bought the lc7i
Great video with enough information to do it yourself, definitely accurate video!
Can I run 3 amplifiers with the lc7i?
(2) 4 channel amps and (1) monoblock?
Thank You,Answered all my questions
I need help if you can. I have an LC7i, but I also have an epicenter. My factory system does have a subwoofer and my rear speakers are full range. What inputs would I need to connect in the LC7i so that my epicenter can get a full range signal to do its job ? Currently had subwoofer input from factory in channel 3 input, and channel 3 output to epicenter. To my understanding this is incorrect.
I would like this reply too I’m stuck in same situation
All inputs to the LC7i.
Or only the bass input if you don’t have aftermarket amps for the speakers.
So with this can I still run a epicenter?
Will there be any issues if I run the remote out to one amplifier and then a separate remote wire for the sub amplifier ?
How did you find out that your system has a built in crossover? Since your fronts are components with an external crossover, it's probable you don't have an internal crossover and could have just done with an amp with speaker level inputs and retain fade control from the head unit, or do I have that wrong?
Yes you are wrong
Boost & Shutter thanks for the quick reply, but what about the volume for my equalizer because I can adjust that as well as my HU
Is there anything that prevents bass rolloff to the speakers if I am not using a sub?
