But does it matter if it's before or after the factory amp and if the factory amp only powers the factory sub can I pull the signal from the inputs of the factory amp so I could remove it from the vehicle or should I get it from the rear speakers?
If you're only using the LC2I for an aftermarket sub, then the best place to tap into the speaker would be at the high level sub input. On my f30 bmw I was never able to get the lc2i to read the preamp signal coming from the head unit. On certain factory stereos, the head unit needs to see a load. The lc2i pro has an adjustable load feature, but the unit shown here does not.
Generally speaking, in most all vehicles, you'll want to obtain your signal for the LC2i or LC2i PRO from the output side of the factory amplifier. A line output converter like these is taking a high level signal and converting it to a low level signal. So chances are, you won't want to use the low level signal going into your OEM amp for signal. You'd end up with little to no volume.
Great video and great in depth explanation Mark!!!! 👍👍👍 Can you do a video on the LC8i if you haven't already done so!!! It's so hard to find a damn video. Where someone explains. What speaker wires you really need to hook up? If you're just doing a subwoofer, I've read that you only need to hook up one pair because it's mono, but I always see four wires going into that the speaker input. No one explains that at all, ever, never.
Bass is not always mono, even if it doesn't make sense. Some tracks will sometimes favor right channel, other songs will favor left channel, and i noticed this when i set stereo subs to my home audio system. When you connect both channels to lc2i, i suspect, you get a proper mono, so your bass will work the same no matter how the song is mastered.
Mark, Do both speaker inputs need to be connected for the lc2i to turn on with the gto feature?? I only have access to one speaker at the moment to tap into.
Say if i wanted to get all new speakers, would I have to tap into all the factory speaker wires in order to get them to sound good with the aftermarket amp? I know most people just use 1 for the subwoofer install. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hey there my friend, I'm in the process of hooking up a loc2i in my 09 bmw528xi powering 2 kicker s10 l5 and it keeps cutting of!! All of my connections are solid, any suggestions?? Thanks in advance! Chris
Shouldn't be an issue, from what we understand of Kicker's Key technology. The LC2i's BASS outputs are set at 30hz-1khz, and the MAIN output is full-range, from 30hz-20khz. Of course, all of this will depend on the signal being fed to the inputs of the LC2i.
@@AudioControlCar That seems inconsistent with the instruction in the video. At 6:45, the video says you get the full frequency range from both Main and Bass outputs. Is this incorrect?
Ok I'm looking yo buy the lc2i, I have nissian maxima 2011 with Bose total of 4 woofers factory using the lc2i what signal would I use? From the Bose woofers or the high or mid speakers....I know the bass rolls off on the bose woofers .....any help would be appreciated
I also have a Bose system in a 2011 Impala. I connected the LC2i to my left rear speaker. Works perfectly! Amp and LC2i are next to each other and my 15" sub is hitting hard AF. The LC2i processes the audio and thus fixes any roll off.

You could use either one, but many times the front door speakers have a more useable frequency range and your aftermarket system will often sound better using that front door signal rather than the ohm sub signal. You could certainly try it with either and compare though, it won't hurt anything.
When adjusting the gain knob on the LC2i for my aftermarket sub, is it the bass knob or the main knob?. Also should I have the gain on my amp all the way down when adjusting the gain knob on the LC2i?
Yes, start with the gain knob on your amplifier in it's lowest position. There are output controls on the top of the LC2i- MAIN and BASS. The MAIN knob controls the output level of the MAIN output RCAs and the BASS knob controls the output level of the BASS output RCAs. So the two knobs correspond to the two pairs of RCA outputs. Hopefully that makes sense- if not, give us a call sometime and we can help you through it.
@@AudioControlCar thanks that is exactly what I did. It is nice that my amp is getting a clean pre amp output signal. The gain on my amp is a 1/4" Turn away from being in the middle. It's good to know that I can always adjust the gain on the LC2i and amp some more if I want more bass
My sub amp keeps turning on and right back off while the truck and radio is off. It's an f150 running the lc2i in sensing mode controlling my sub amp remote wire. Any ideas?
Why does the lc2i put out signal at power on with the volume all the way down? You can see it in the RTA in the video @ 2:52.I can hear it, through my woofers. it’s a low hum!
Generally, this is due to most source units still putting out some signal, even with the volume all the way down. If you want to eliminate this, you can use a true turn on lead rather than using the signal sensing GTO turn on. Many times the hum heard in demo/training videos is produced by the 110v to 12vdc power supply, which wouldn't be an issue in an actual vehicle, of course.
hello and good day, I recently installed the LCi2 into my car but when I close my door I get a progressive loud noise that comes out the subwoofer! Any ideas what I might be having an issue with?
My JL-HD1200 specifically says in the Owner's Manual that I need a Y-adapter for the one RCA jack leaving my LC2i because my mono-amp requires a signal going to both female RCA jack inputs.
You can grab signal from any speaker(s) in the vehicle that have enough bass in the signal presently going to them. Play a song with some bass in it, listen closely to each speaker (Put your ear up to it even?) and try to see if you can hear the speaker playing some bass. If you can, that speaker should be ok to grab your signal from. Remember, you don't have to disconnect the speaker either, you can just tap into the wires leading to it. But I got it all connected a rememberd the kicker amp takes a high input from the left front speaker. And the output from the soundstream is a low line level output. Can the lc2 bring up the volume output enough for the kicker amp to work? The kicker amp has dip switches on the bottom do you know anything about the settings by chance?
Does anyone know how long the LC2i will stay on after the vehicle is turned off if I am using GTO? I have another brand LOC and it keeps my amplifier on for 10 minutes after the factory stereo is turned off. I looked in the manual for the LC2i, but I find no information on time out when using GTO. thanks
I’m very confused I had this installed by a friend who is knowledgeable but here is my question. It says it only puts out 400W per channel. I am only using the subwoofer channel right now. I have it connected to an amp that can put out up to 1400W. But since the audiocontroller can only put out 400W isn’t that limiting my amp to 400W?
The AudioControl LC2i (and most other AC products) can handle 400 watts of INPUT to their speaker level inputs and convert it into up to 9.5 volts of RCA low level output. Basically, taking an unusable factory signal and converting it into a usable signal your aftermarket amplifier can handle. The LC2i will have no effect on the actual wattage produced by your amplifier. It will work with a 100w amplifier or a 10,000 watt amplifier, but it will handle the signals the same way. So thankfully, your 1400w amp is not being limited in any way. You're on the right track, just getting a little mixed up in the specs/terminology. Hope that helps!
I've had this for a few years and since day one the gain knob does absolutely nothing. No volume change at all. The optimize light never comes in no matter where the gain knob is set. I think this is a lemon , sounds no different then my 20 dollar pac loc

If i want to run a mono amp for new sub only. Do I have to go through the factory deck, or does the hookup to the loc happen after the factory amp? I want to keep the factory amp running the stock speakers. I don't want to pull out my factory deck. Hoping it gets hooked up from the amp? Anyone know?
All of our products can accept signal from the outputs of an OEM amplifier. So if your vehicle has a factory amplifier, you can grab signal from it's outputs, feed that into our product's inputs, and end up with a nice clean RCA signal to send to your aftermarket subwoofer amplifier.
Question- If I use the bass knob on the LC2i do I still need to run a bass know for the subwoofer amp or can I just run a bass knob for the amp itself?
In theory the LC2i is a cleaner source so boosting it before the amp might be more ideal, though I'm not 100% certain. But boosting a signal can add noise and with that could cause clipping and the like. So if the LC2i is indeed cleaning up and processing the audio, boosting it there might be where you'd want to do it while keeping the amp neutral.
MidnightMarrow the Bass knob for both are just attenuators. They don’t actually boost anything at all. Maxed out they just match whatever signal the output knob is set to. So the addition of one would just give you the option to lower output at the twist of a knob.
Great channel as you know, but you use really expensive equipment that many people can't reach, once in awhile it would be nice to install/review more affordable equipment.
I’m having an issue with power. I have a constant 12 power hooked up but it turns on the lc2i and stays on with car off. Is there a certain way to hook up?
Sounds like your speaker wires are not hooked up properly. Fact: once there is any audio input into the LC2I, 12 volts is sent out of the 12 volts out.
Just picked one of these up, about to install it on the weekend. I saw that it came with a bass knob and also my amp came with one aswell...Which one should we utilize?

Yes. The LC2i (or the LC2iPRO) will give you a cleaner, higher voltage signal to your amplifier(s), allowing you to get more from your amp/speakers with less distortion.
Sounds like you're using GTO to turn the unit on. Try bypassing GTO (using the jumper on the side of the unit) and then use a remote turn on lead to turn the unit on. This remote turn on can come from any +12v power source that turns on and off with the vehicle's ignition.

Hello, can you hook an epicenter after the LC2I ? If so it would go to the main or subwoofer ? Regards
Great video and great in depth explanation Mark!!!! 👍👍👍 Can you do a video on the LC8i if you haven't already done so!!! I have seen your videos on the LC6i, LC7i, and now of course the LC2i, but I don't recall you doing one on the LC8i!!! I'm pretty sure it's the same concept as the other LCi products but just to be able to distinguish the difference between each one if theirs any it would be greatly appreciated!!! Also in case some of us car audio enthusist have to use one or another to complete our car audio installs!!! Keep those great videos coming they are very very helpful!!! 👌👌👌
It's so hard to find a damn video. Where someone explains. What speaker wires you really need to hook up? If you're just doing a subwoofer, I've read that you only need to hook up one pair because it's mono, but I always see four wires going into that the speaker input. No one explains that at all, ever, never.
Did you ever happen to figure that out?
Thanks.
Do all speaker wires have full ramge signal or it depends im talking bout stoch headu it
Where does the 1amp fuse need installed? Will I need an inline fuse tap?
Can you run 2 amps with this such as a small 4 channel for 6.5’s in doors and then one for a mono sub amp all with this LC2i?
Hey there my friend, I'm in the process of hooking up a loc2i in my 09 bmw528xi powering 2 kicker s10 l5 and it keeps cutting of!! All of my connections are solid, any suggestions?? Thanks in advance! Chris
Nice video. Can I run a Kicker 600.1 out of the bass rca’s and a Kicker Key 200.4 out of the other set? No issues with tuning the “Key”?
@@MidnightMarrow I ended up tapping both of the rear woofers to the lc2i and yes it hits hard.....I have a jl 500/1 on 2 jl w3 12s I was doing my w6s but need a re-cone on both. My box is tuned to 30hz I have to say I'm very satisfied with the results.....
Glad to hear it- Enjoy that bass!
@@AudioControlCar I am and I just recieved my new foam surround for my w612s so cant wait lol....
can i use stock signal from my stock sub on my 13 ram 2500 to lc2i?? or it have to be from door speakers?
@@AudioControlCar Does that mean we can leave the gain all the way down on the amp and use just the lc2i to adjust gain?
Can I use this lc2i for 4 mid coaxial and use the digital epicenter for subs?
Can I power a front stage and sub just from the input of my front speaker?
Can the 12v constant lead be from a 12v charging port?
I only used the left rear speaker in my silverado, do I need to put left and right in? It's just to pull the signal right?
My JL-HD1200 specifically says in the Owner's Manual that I need a Y-adapter for the one RCA jack leaving my LC2i because my mono-amp requires a signal going to both female RCA jack inputs.
Do you recommend hooking up both rear speakers or can I us one?
Need to hook up both for stereo left and right 👍
If I'm only hooking up my subwoofer (with amp) to the lc2i where do I get the speaker wire from?
You can grab signal from any speaker(s) in the vehicle that have enough bass in the signal presently going to them. Play a song with some bass in it, listen closely to each speaker (Put your ear up to it even?) and try to see if you can hear the speaker playing some bass. If you can, that speaker should be ok to grab your signal from. Remember, you don't have to disconnect the speaker either, you can just tap into the wires leading to it. If not, give our tech team a call at (425)775-8461, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm PST.
Can I run an aftermarket Bass Knob that has RCA jacks to this? And if so, how???
So if I hook up a high amp for the door speakers I would have to look for the doors speakers wire to cut to install to the high amp?
Yes just splice into the door speaker wires.
I just installed the LC2i(with the GTO enabled), tapped into the rear left and right speakers for signal, connected the 12v+ and ground to the power and ground cables on the aftermarket AMP but I don’t seem to get the power light on all the time when I’m playing music even if the main dial is set to max… the power light keeps flashing instead of staying on all the time. What do you think that would be the reason? Thank you in advance!
Would an LC7i work better for a premium bose system or would the LC2i I have be sufficient enough?
I have the premium Bose in my car currently with a passive kicker loc and today I will be installing the lc2i. It will work perfectly for it. I’ll get back with u and let u know more this afternoon after the install
Mark needed helped how to install LC2I for 2019 Dodge charger non amplifier...it's getting sounds cancellation...
I have a gm kicker subwoofer installed from dealer. I want to add a soundstream bx-20z digital bass reconstruction processor. To controll the bass better for songs that dont hit as good.
I got bass on my door speakers help
Does anyone know how long the LC2i will stay on after the vehicle is turned off if I am using GTO? I have another brand LOC and it keeps my amplifier on for 10 minutes after the factory stereo is turned off. I looked in the manual for the LC2i, but I find no information on time out when using GTO. thanks
I have my lc2i connected with a 2000 watt skar. My amp won't shut off. Is my remote wire wired wrong? Please help
Can I disconnect the stock sub, use those wires to the lc2i, set up the lc2i with the amp and run an after market sub JUST for bass ?
Yes
Hey i cant hear certain bass sounds and certain instruments on my system. Why is that happening??
So I setup my lc2i changed nothing about the setup except vehicles, and now with my stereo volume at 0, my subs still hit. Why?
I've had this for a few years and since day one the gain knob does absolutely nothing. No volume change at all. The optimize light never comes in no matter where the gain knob is set. I think this is a lemon , sounds no different then my 20 dollar pac loc
sounds like it's not hooked up correctly
@@RedBeardRebass nope hooked up correctly. I didn't realize that the bass adjustment was not actually a bass adjustment but s gain knob for the bass rca output. The gain adjustment is actually the gain for the main rca output. Kind of a confusing way of labeling the adjustments but I get it now. Once I went back and messed with it it I figured it out and optimized light started to come on. So far so good.
How do I hook up to the speakers on a 2015 f150? On the doors ?
How do you lower the voltage output for your amp I need to lower it to at least 2 volts
Stupid question but Does this work with two amps? I see it works with the amp for subwoofers. Can I add my other amp for my front and rear door speakers? 2019 Honda Accord sport.
Yes. You can use a "Y" RCA cable to run 2 amp inputs.
I have a question. I know this has a control knob but my amp has one too. Do I have to install both or how does that work? Thanks
No. Just use your original bass control knob.
Can you use the Lc2i pro for 4 door speakers and an amp?
so when you install this to the factory speakers, where do you hookup the RCA if there is the factory amp?
Not sure I am clear on your question, can you clarify what you are wanting to do? Or if you'd rather, you always contact us directly at www.audiocontrol.com/contact/
Would this work if you have an aftermarket head unit with pre outs that are top low?
Lc2i has a built in high pass filter at 33hz. The pro does 20hz.
What do you mean by this? The lc2i won’t play under 33hz?
@@xxah54nxx it means it falls off rapidly under 33hz. I changed it out for the pro and the lows are much better.
Can the lc2 work if i get signal from one single speaker??
Yes. Just parallel the plus and minus at the LC2I inputs.
Question...is the maximized light supposed to blink when bass is hitting?
no
Only if you have the gain set too high.
A light blinking of the maximized light is ok at high volumes. Preferably, the light would not be illuminated at all, but if it needs to flash on certain songs in order for you to get the desired output, that's ok.
Great video. I've been running a cheap passive line out converter in my Tundra with the factory jbl setup for a few years and I think I'm getting dirty signal from it. I think I'll pick one of these up and see if it helps me out
How is it after upgrading?
@@OMGits_Hercules funny you ask at the time you did.
I bought a kicker passive loc and it sounds much better but my factory jbl signal is way too much for it so it sounds funny still.
I have a lc2i pro in the mail arriving tomorrow, i will update you when I get it in and going.

If i want to run a mono amp for new sub only. Do I have to go through the factory deck, or does the hookup to the loc happen after the factory amp?
I want to keep the factory amp running the stock speakers. I don't want to pull out my factory deck. Hoping it gets hooked up from the amp?
Anyone know?
lakermd before the factory amp, it’s going to amplify your amp with cleaner power
You can run on knob from either one that you want. You don’t need one on both. Either or do the same exact thing.
What settings is door Speakers
Great channel as you know, but you use really expensive equipment that many people can't reach, once in awhile it would be nice to install/review more affordable equipment.
I’m having an issue with power. I have a constant 12 power hooked up but it turns on the lc2i and stays on with car off. Is there a certain way to hook up?
Sounds like your speaker wires are not hooked up properly. Fact: once there is any audio input into the LC2I, 12 volts is sent out of the 12 volts out.
can i run a 12v wire from the amp to power this?
Yep thats how its done
@@MPC964 word that’s so much easier the running a fuse tap throught my entire car
Can I just jump power off of the amplifier and jump ground to the ground on the amp??
Many do this with fine results, but we generally do not recommend it.
So just subwoofer adjusted!! All the wire work and can’t even adjust door speakers !!
Just picked one of these up, about to install it on the weekend. I saw that it came with a bass knob and also my amp came with one aswell...Which one should we utilize?
i would use the subs. you really needed the one without the "accubass"
I use the amp cos the LOC is an accessory for the amp. You know?

You sure can. In case you're wondering, the order will be: source unit>LC2i>Epicenter>amplifier(s)

Why does my light say maximized and its not working
My radio starts clipping at a little passed half way. Will intalling a LC2Ipro be better than using my amps high level inputs to get my amp to play at higher volume without blowing my sub?
Yes. The LC2i (or the LC2iPRO) will give you a cleaner, higher voltage signal to your amplifier(s), allowing you to get more from your amp/speakers with less distortion.
@@AudioControlCar increasing the Bass level on LC2i is better than increasing the gains on the amp? Also, how do I tune LPF?
@@kuanliu3383 That is my question as well!
I have a question regarding the lci2 not turning off once the motors off? Can you please help?
It power up right away after you plug your speaker wires to your main back speakers even though the motors off
Sounds like you're using GTO to turn the unit on. Try bypassing GTO (using the jumper on the side of the unit) and then use a remote turn on lead to turn the unit on. This remote turn on can come from any +12v power source that turns on and off with the vehicle's ignition.
Yes im trying to use the gto but i thought itll turn off once you turn the car off? How would u bypass i see the two little prongs on the side but how would you hook it up beiing so little? Thank you for answering
Can you link the 12v and ground from your amp?
Yes
You can, although we recommend providing any AudioControl product with it's own power and ground. Occasionally, borrowing power and ground from the amplifier can result in noise or other issues.
@@AudioControlCar what problems does it cause ?
Can the LC2i run both main and bass output at the same time?
It sure can! It is designed so that both sets of outputs are always functional. No need to switch them on/off or anything like that. Just plug in your RCA's front the LC2i to your amplifier(s) and go.
What do I do if my LC2i isn’t shutting off?
That means you have noise on your speaker lead inputs if I am understanding you correctly (not good). Most likely it is installed incorrectly.
Can I connect 2 amps voice and bass to this converter??
Yes
Yes, you sure can! The LC2i has both a BASS and a MAIN output, perfect for doing exactly what you asked about.
I was under the impression that the bass channels were not full through but rather had a 1000hz low pass filter on them.
Correct. This is so that the LC2i can be used effectively with an Epicenter. It's such a popular combo, we wanted to make sure they played nice together.
