The ability to take the D series amplifier and wire everything into one box, no rca's (if using stock deck), no distribution blocks, no mazes, no need for a big & complicated amp rack, just one neat and tidy install with all of the adjustability (other than Epicentre of course) is just really, really appealing for that clean look. Not to mention, easy to troubleshoot if it's only one piece of equipment.

It's great that you make these videos and the build you did for your dad's car was nice and simple. Could you one day make a budget build that provides amazing sound using some easy cost-effective equipment? As some of the components that you tend to showcase are not very affordable to everyone like me. I know you pretty much get what you pay for but there has to be a middle ground / budget-friendly for those of us on a tight budget but still want some amazing sound in our vehicles. is this even possible to achieve? or am I just reaching for the stars...
There was very little content on their products in terms of reviews. I've been waiting on reviews a while now. Their site was the only means of getting info. Great job !
I just purchased a ‘22 $60k vehicle that sounds worse than my ‘90 stock Mustang! I haven’t needed to upgrade beyond factory for a cool minute! However, now i’m going to need a full blown re-education in car audio and THIS channel will be my professor!
Great video! I really enjoyed the way you explained these things. I always struggle with explaining signal processing/Time alignment, etc. to anyone. From now on I will just show them this video. Shouldn’t be too many questions after that. I learned a few things about Audiocontrol’s “D” series processors and amplifiers, too. I’ve always been a user/believer in the epicenter, and Audiocontrol products in general and don’t see that changing anytime in the near future!
I just accidentally swapped to android headunit as i can't use any universal one. Now i wat to improve source sound quality. What is your take on this?
You know what I've always thought I was pretty good with systems...... Then I met your channel ☠ your channel is boss love how you have the ability to break down all the more expensive things I couldn't ever get around to figuring out thanks for the info
I have the DDX9905s and the Alpine PDX F6 plus M12 mono. Now the Kenwood can get to full volume with no distortion but has 5v pre-outs where the 4 channel F6 amp accepts a maximum input of 4v. Now would there be any issues here or should I raise the volume on the head unit using the test tones until I see a max of 4v from the RCA's? Thanks in advance!
Don't overthink it. Plug it in and set your gains so it's loud enough for your normal listening levels without clipping if you decide to crank it up here and there. Setting gains by voltage alone are likely to yield poor results. Just because your amp accepts "4v max" inputs, doesn't mean it can't go higher or that you're actually sending more than 4v into it at all times. Just turn down the gain on your amp if it's too much. I know they say the amp gain is not a volume knob, but it actually is, in the same manner as the volume knob on your head unit controls the gain of its internal amplifier.
@@vitaminb4869 Never had an issue before but being told different things. Great video as always. But cheap speakers and cheap amplifier. And no line outs. I would like to see a video how to use a standard main unit and change main speakers and maybe add a subwoofer. Thanks Mark that clears things up somewhat for me. Btw great show me and my son have learned a lot. Your work quality along with what 5 star is doing is second too none.
It's really cool that Audiocontrol is stil alive! I still have a pair of good old EQT's and one 24XS at home. Yeah, I didn't realize they were that old. I remember every other old school brand from the 80s and 90s, but don't remember AC! What kinda rock was I livin under? Lol...
Thanks for the clear up. But why dont they sell an EQ that is in dash on the fly? My Playlist has alot of different genre and having to adjust the sound constently.
So essentially I can either use LC2i and epicenter or simply go for epicenter plus and get the same quality of sound? (I am using the factory head unit).
Hey Mark, As always this is an excellent video. I have a LCQ-1, it works well but there is pink noise comming from it and I can't solve it. I tried with the jumpers and checking the ground but nothing changed. Any Idea?
Is there such thing as a crossover device that has a hard cutoff rather than a gradual one? For example, cutting off all frequencies above the set value rather than a gradual decrease. Or would an equalizer be the closest thing to achieving this?
Maybe you can make a recommendation for my planned setup. Pioneer FH-S700BT receiver, Pioneer GM-DX874 4 channel amplifier, and a Kicker 46CXA1200.1T mono amplifier. The 4 channel amplifier will power 4 Pioneer 6.5" 4 way coaxials, and the mono amplifier will power 2 12" subwoofers. A line driver makes sense due to the low output voltage from the receiver, but anything else that's got that ability plus more would be great.
On the Cherokee project, how did you deal with the center dash speaker? Does it have one? I'm putting together a similar system with an 810, 6.1200 & 4.800
have to hand it to AudioControl on all the things.🥇🎊🎉 and thanks for the layout of what each does. One question: My (Android/china) stereo broke but still worked and I think it was pushing too much power through the rear right channel, which caused massive distortion and pops through the Harmon Kardon (bmw) amp, and blew the speaker... So, (not knowing this at the time), got an aftermarket amp that I hooked up and all was fine for a week then the rear channel blew out on the amp. So, question is, will the Line Output Converter resolve a voltage spikes or distortion that possibly was caused by the android stereo? Or, will it take the damage (or be able to handle the damage) or will it allow bad signals to pass through to the amp through the RCA's?
Thank you so much, Mark. Your videos have taught me all I know about car audio. It appears The Epicenter functionality is not built in to the DSP. Is it as simple as connecting the RCA subwoofer outputs from the DSP into The Epicenter and The Epicenter outputs into the sub amp?
What about having an aftermarket head unit and aftermarket amp? Do I still need at line out converter? Or am I good with a DSP, equalized and active crossover?
If I have a factory radio but it has stock amp. I was going to run a DSP I already have and also I will be running (1) Sub amp and (2) 4 channel amps. Should I just use an LC2i to get the signals? Do I need something bigger? I have a pac amp pro TY13 now but not the biggest fan of it. I just want the cleanest sound and best bass.
Awesome video explaining, took me a lot of research and reading to work out that instead of having a panel full of units all i needed was a good dsp to achieve most of whats needed for quality sounding system. Settled on a Helix P Six mk2 dsp-amp and a Helix M One X Mono Amp for the subs, still installing it all but i got high hopes for it all running Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers.
I’m wanting to upgrade my stock system in my 2015 f-150. Thinking of installing the kappa 90csx component speakers up front for now what is the proper way to do it? May be adding a 4ch amplifier later. Can you point in the correct direction!
If I get the dq61 and connect front full range to all the lines can I get one channel out for mid one for high and one for sub so I can get front center sound stage or will i need the better gear
If I have bose factory amplifier and dont want bypass just add a amp and subwoofer. Would tapping into the 6×9s with the lci2? If so would I tap the line before or after the factory amplifier?
How would I go about my setup? I have the LC2i Pro but my 6x8 in the door are aftermarket kickers. I'm clipping (making the maximized yellow light register) way before I even get my volume to 3/4 maxed. I'm assuming that means I have more than 400 watts on the input side. Suggestions or additional questions I can answer to help diagnose?
Question, which is better? put a lc7i to one side of the stereo and from there to a processor in the trunk or take the stereo outputs to the trunk of the car to the processor, this whit a factory radio
Using the LC2i pro can i just pull a signal from my main speakers and then run main output to speaker amp, and also bass output to sub amp? I want to use the LC2i to run both of my amps -sub and 6x9s
So why do you need 8-9v of rca voltage? I’ve never understood that bc most amps max out at 6v. Some do go to 8v but there is not many. So why do you need that?
I use 8v head units to 8v dsp to Brad amps all digital or dig to analog what matters is speaker quality head unit media amps chipsets on dsps I used audio control years ago there 👌
JP Merrick yea but what about for the amps. The higher voltage is to lower the noise floor as low as possible. He was even saying some go to 10v. The sounds a bit excessive
I mean we are talking about audio controls here I've owned 200 amps own 100 now plus speakers best made for cars at the end of the day quality matters more than power the sound from a class a amp Celeste hi amps beats a high watts class d etc but in the end the helix jam chips yes a6 6 volts beats a tru class a line driver people get hung up on specs its about sound quality the borax mx4 is so quit that people say give me the try billet I have both each gets to sq a Difft way at my high end its all about tonality in the clarity and quietness then sound against windows etc most just don't know they think focal is a good speaker omg
@@Hittin2thabass yeah at the lowest gain setting you'd already overdrive the amp but not sure if the amps input circuit on that would accept it or not.
Question Have after market system wanted to know if I have wired correct it’s Kenwood HU,into massive 9 band EQ,then to a 3way crossover then to epicenter then to bass amp
Do you have a video explaining what technical specs to look for when picking an amps or speakers? Signal to noise ratio, Sensitivity, THD and what not. Thanks.
Would you still need to use a Line output converter when using the amplifier with the built in DSP? Or can you go from the factory speaker wire straight to the amp?
Hi MARK, thank you for your great videos and explications. Really very helpful. Please I d like to ask you if there is any chance to upgrade door speakers civic 98 or I have juste to replace them for better ones. Thanks.
QUESTION. If my head unit already come with RCA plugs. Do i really need a LC7i ? I know i am using the Epicenter to my 2ch Sub Amps. What can i use to control my Highs and Mids. 2000 Chevy 1500. 6.5 and 4x6 Skar. Skar 12VD subwoofers
I just got a system installed in my car and I am not happy with the sound. It's a 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback. I got a LC7i because I am unfortunately stuck with a stock head unit for the moment. I also got a JL Audio HD900/5 amp and a HO110-w6w3 sub and Focal components in front and coaxes in the back. 2 problems: 1. There is an audible hiss that is really annoying at lower volumes. If I crank up the volume enough I can drown out the hiss but it's super annoying. I think it's the LC7i but I can't be sure. 2. It feels like there is a black hole in the sound in the mids. When listening to a bassline I can hear as the notes are going up and down and the lower notes are thumping from the sub but as they go up in frequency they get way more quiet and have less impact. I think the installer messed up the crossovers or something, or maybe something is out of phase. I don't know. All I know is that my mids are weak AF and it sucks. Anyone have any ideas or input?
Just to clarify the order these components go, so from factory head unit would be line out converter to equalizer to crossover to amplifier? What if I wanted to add the epicenter into the components listed above? What would the order be? The epicenter right after the crossover and before the subwoofer amp?
I have a question for you. I have a audiocontrol epicenter and a audiocontrol 4 and one audiocontrol Equalizer. The right way to hook up the epicenter to the aftermarket radio is to run a set of rcas from the radio to the input of the epicenter. And since I have a audiocontrol equalizer 4.1 the rca output of the epicenter. On which rca plug in on my Equalizer do I run my rcas in to from the output from the epicenter
I admire and appreciate all that you do ! All your videos are so easy to follow and understand. My question is what dies accubase do to aftermarket headunit if anything? One more thing my brother got a new dsr1 and basically just plugged it in and didnt tune it but it sounds good with his system. I bought a brazilian dsp Stetsom and im trying to understand where to start tuning it , it didnt have english intructions. Oops. Do i need to uninstall the 3way crossover to use just the dsp, and reset the gains. How do i check for distortion without the meter device? Thanks again for any help!
So if I have the stock amp for Mids and highs and a aftermarket amp for the subs. And using stock stereo . What do I need to make it sound the best? Metal, rap is what I play
OVERDRIVE (AudioControl) question.. What if an aftermarket head unit only outs out 1 volt or less on the RCA outputs? Should I use the normal speaker output wires and run them through an LC6/7/8i ?
What if I have the 4th gen ram 1500 9 speaker alpine system but I want better door speakers and to add a JL audio 12 w3v3-4 subwoofer and add an amp. Which line output converter would I need? I also have a Sony XAV-V10BT aftermarket receiver already installed. When I turn up the volume somewhere between 18 or 19 I start hearing static.
I'm putting together a similar system with an 810, 6.1200 & 4.800
have to hand it to AudioControl on all the things.🥇🎊🎉
and thanks for the layout of what each does.
I have a single Sub rca coming from my head unit should I connect it to the overdrive with a splitter then to the epicenter
I love the audiocontrol products , in my car I have a overdrive an epicenter and the 2xs crossover, and I have the matrix for my next build
I have a epicenter and want to get the matrix did u put the matrix before the epicenter or after
I think it's safe to say AudioControl spends A LOT of money on R&D (maybe too much!)
I have an lc2i with factory radio going out to 1 amp for bass & then 2 amps to 2 different boxes with mid ranges and tweeters on them .
Would I install the epicenter after the signal processor if I’m keeping the factory head unit?
Hey if I'm running both an epi n a crossover ,should I put the epi at the front or at the back of the crossover plz reply🤔🤔🤔🤔
So if wanted to restore bass, get a stronger audio signal, and control the equalizers, then I would need 3 different devices?
Great explanations, lessons, videos...thanks & keep up the
great work.
Audiocontrol used to make a model called the ESP-3
it's a center channel/spatial enhancement processor that was very cool
Awesome video explaining, took me a lot of research and reading to work out that instead of having a panel full of units all i needed was a good dsp to achieve most of whats needed for quality sounding system. Settled on a Helix P Six mk2 dsp-amp and a Helix M One X Mono Amp for the subs, still installing it all but i got high hopes for it all running Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers.
What do I need to the accubass sound using and aftermarket radio in a upgraded system?
I have a Kenwood 7706 hi-res to get the best quality do I also need a high-risk amp even though I'm using Kenwood speakers that are not high res
Have you ever hooked a bass processor on a home stereo receiver sub out line?
So why do you need 8-9v of rca voltage? I’ve never understood that bc most amps max out at 6v. Some do go to 8v but there is not many. So why do you need that?
I use 8v head units to 8v dsp to Brad amps all digital or dig to analog what matters is speaker quality head unit media amps chipsets on dsps I used audio control years ago there 👌
JP Merrick yea but what about for the amps. The higher voltage is to lower the noise floor as low as possible. He was even saying some go to 10v. The sounds a bit excessive
JP Merrick I mean if you have 10v going to an amp that maxes out at 8v wouldn’t that make the amp clip?
Question
Have after market system wanted to know if I have wired correct it’s
Kenwood HU,into massive 9 band EQ,then to a 3way crossover then to epicenter then to bass amp
Best video to explain this ever!! So awesome. Thanks!!
When you add a eq what do you set the crossovers to on the amp ?
Please do a video showing how to wire Crossovers, Preamps and amplifier because i need help wiring up my system with a preamp and crossover
Would it be good to use a LC2 and a matrix for a stock deck and 2 amps?
Do line drivers have built in integrated noise filters?
Thanks man. For simplicity what do you need as a complete unit? Man this is so much...
2 problems:
Hi. Would you still use an epicentre with a dsp? And where would you mount it?? Between unit and dsp, dsp and sub amp? Thanks
Just to clarify the order these components go, so from factory head unit would be line out converter to equalizer to crossover to amplifier?
What if I wanted to add the epicenter into the components listed above? What would the order be? The epicenter right after the crossover and before the subwoofer amp?
I have a question for you. I have a audiocontrol epicenter and a
audiocontrol 4 and one audiocontrol Equalizer.
I have a epicenter, dsp and a amplifier. From factory head unit what goes first to last?
Can you give me advice on a new sound system build?
Can I connect an Lc2i pro to a DSP? And if so what are the benefits or disadvantages?
Great video. Lots of information here and well explained. Keep up the great content man. Very helpful for many of us.
@mark if I have a eq on my pioneer avh head unit what does this mean? Would a eq or crossover be a waste ? Thanks bud
OVERDRIVE (AudioControl) question.. What if an aftermarket head unit only outs out 1 volt or less on the RCA outputs? Should I use the normal speaker output wires and run them through an LC6/7/8i ?
Really love Audio Control's Epicenter 👍
I'm trying to find a way to tune the epicenter with the lc7i
Is their something else I can use instead of the AudioControl Matrix Plus Black Six Channel Line Driver?
So which one good for helping with speakers
What if I have the 4th gen ram 1500 9 speaker alpine system but I want better door speakers and to add a JL audio 12 w3v3-4 subwoofer and add an amp. Which line output converter would I need? I also have a Sony XAV-V10BT aftermarket receiver already installed. When I turn up the volume somewhere between 18 or 19 I start hearing static.
