    9 Week Update - Hi all, with a possible garage repair cost of between one and two thousand £ / $ I am overjoyed to say the leak is still fixed!, to be honest I never thought it would work but I only had a small amount of money to lose if it never worked, pretty much a no brainer really, if anyone out there has a issue with a oil cooler leak or maybe another type of seal / gasket leak I cannot rate this stuff high enough!, I will create another update video over the next couple of months so stay tuned, all the best of luck all with your leaks and lets hope the BlueDevil works for you! mrix

    I wont lie as a mechanic since i was 16 now that kinda gave me the fear ha ha maybe adding it after a clean and flushed oil change may have helped. have seen some snake oil stuff in my 30 plus years in the motor trade. but who knows?.

    • @mrix
      @mrix  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Johnny, yes its scary to add such a substance to the oil, I had done loads of research beforehand and it is meant to be safe, hopefully I dont get leaks springing up all over the place after a few more days ha ha, so far so good the leak does appear to be gradually diminishing, as you say having a fresh oil change before use would of likely helped , I`ll give it a fair bit lot longer before I give some updates in the comments area to give it a fair chance, anyway thanks for the comment, mrix

    6 Week Update - Hello all, its been about 6 weeks since I added the BlueDevil Oil stop leak and as of todays date the oil leak has actually stopped! it was such a really slow process as it took much longer than expected and far more miles before it did stop, maybe the oil cooler seal is much thicker than many seals so needed more time for the solution to react on it ? have no idea but it has actually stopped! this repair would of cost me anywhere from £1000 and £2000 so I am obviously extremely happy with the outcome, I will keep updating over the next months as it could start leaking again but all in all so far its happy days!, mrix

    I tried this on my 2012 bluetec with the current rev. purple oil cooler seals. Didn't work at all. When I pulled them out the seals were split and ruptured. No sealant would work.

      Hello, its always worth a try I guess... however the first thing I would check is the turbo seal where the maff sensor joins to the turbo, its a very common leak where the oil leaks out and drain down the engine.. it can make it look like a oil cooler leak when its not etc.... all the best of luck...mrix

    Hello. Thanks for your video. I have a question regarding my ml 350 bluetec 2013 which has a engine cooler oil leak. I was wondering if I can use this product for that purpose. If so do I pour Blue devil into the engine oil? Thank you in advance

    • @mrix
      @mrix  3 роки тому +2

      Hello the question you have asked is the same reason why I used this product, I was told by the garage I had a engine oil cooler leak, the price to fix this on a V6 engine is very pricy, the cheapest I could find was £1200, likely f ar more expensive at the Mercedes dealer. I then obviously looked around for a cheaper fix hence trying this BlueDevil product, I had lost hope after a few days as it did not appear to work but its been a few months now and I no longer have a oil cooler leak, I never held out much hope for these products as I have tried them over the years and never had any success, so far so good, fingers crossed for a long term fix! but yes this product which looks like water you add it straight to the oil through the normal way you add oil by locating the oil filler on the top of your engine. You will need to use you vehicle for a few weeks to get a good idea if its been successful, best of luck mrix

    • @mrix
      @mrix  Рік тому +1

      Hello, yes I still own the car, the car still runs fine but what I will tell you is to watch some of my other videos that relate to the turbo seal, I cannot be sure but many garages jump to the conclusion the leak is from the oil cooler which is a hugely expensive job to replace the seals, however I noticed that a lot of oil leaks from the turbo seal and leaks down the engine, this seal is a reletively easy fix so should be your first port of call first before going down the oil cooler leak. My garage told me I had a oil cooler leak but I believe it was the turbo oil seal where it connects to the mass air flow sensor.... all the very best of luck your end for a positive outcome... mrix

      To be completely honest I am not sure, it did work initially but after so many months I got a small leak back, after checking everything I noticed I had the usual turbo seal leak so this solution may of simply expanded the turbo seal ? I am sure now my leak was more the orange turbo seal.... check out a couple of my other videos as I dont believe now its actually the oil cooler seals, well in some cases its not... I highly recommend if anyone has a small leak to check that turbo seal which is a relatively easy to check and replace...... mrix

      I was told by the Garage it was the oil cooler which was leaking but if you check the turbo oil seal it was coming from there... its a very common oil leak on these cars but a easy fix, sometimes I dont think some of the garages are aware that its actually coming from the turbo oil seal and not the oil cooler.

    • @mrix
      @mrix  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, in my case the garage told me it was a oil cooler leak which is apparently fairly common on these engines, I think this is the case as the oil cannot really leak from anywhere else, well so they think.... however even though my oil leak is cured I and not 100% sure if its from the oil cooler or the turbo inlet.... let me explained..... basically the PCV valve removes gasses from the engine which sent back into the turbo but there seems to be a design fault whereby it also pulls too much oil, I recently removed my Mas airflow unit which connects to each of the air filters and found a lot of oil leakage where it enters the turbo, this oil was also leaking down onto the engine and there was a fair bit of it, this is so common many owners tend to install a catch can which removes this excess oil. I cannot stress highly enough to check this first, its a easy job, just a few clips and a jubilee clip to loosen etc.
      If you do go through this process I would be very grateful to know if you also have this excess oil caused by the PCV Valve, just to note I purchased a brand new PCV valve which made no difference so for me a catch can is the only way to go with that side of things.
      When I say I was not sure if it was the oil cooler or the PCV Valve this is because I have removed the excess oil from the turbo area a fair few times now which could of also solved my problem but as I say I am unsure, anyway check that turbo inlet your end and see if you have oil leakage at that point.... all the best of luck.... mrix

      @@mrix Thanks for the detailed reply. I actually had my rocker gasket replaced not long ago as they were wearing thin and leaking. As part of the job, my mechanic checked the oil seperator and it doesn't seem to be leaking. So I guess, like you said, it has to be the oil cooler. Its probably easier to replace that on my 651 compared to your v6 but I still wanna give that oil leak additive a try :)
