Awesome man!! I had a bad blown gasket in my Toyota Matrix last year and decided to retire the car. Would’ve been crazy expensive to fix. It’s been sitting for a year now and decided to try Blue devil yesterday- (why not). Car now is back up and running like a champ... ridiculously impressed. Can’t believe it worked
Hey guys i recently used it and it works. My question is how long should i use it? My mechanic said after a month working i can change to regular coolant. What can you say about it, please?
I used it for a heater core leak 3yrs ago. 55,000 miles later 👌👍. Did a flush first, ran the blue devil with water and drove it for a couple days with no thermostat, drained it and refilled with antifreeze.
A 5k job? Is that for the kit with parts plus the labor or just the parts alone? I Got a similar issue going on with my 01 LB7 it's gonna be 5k hell with it lol
Your original video, I took your advice. It’s been 11 months since I did the Blue Devil and my 2005 Four Runner is still doing good for me. I appreciate you. I found a guy selling his four runner with puffing white smoke that he just broke. Sent your videos to him. I hope all goes well as it did for us. 🙏 you’re the man!
I posted here a few months ago that I have a blue devil repair that lasted over 100k and thought it finally failed. I was wrong, still good 120k and counting it was my water pump. Original motor 04 4runner 4.0 V6 with 318k did the 5 hour intensive blue devil fix for the head gasket. Worked for me.
Watching from the UK. Excellent video and I’ll be doing the blue devil sealant tomorrow in me Mercedes Van. And full respect to the garage owner. Very rare to find people like this. Humble and straight up
This video is giving me the confidence to dump some of this Blue Devil in. I have a 2004 4runner 6 cyl, 4.0L, the ones that are notorious for this gasket issue( my misfire was in cylinder 6.) Luckily I have never had any overheating issues so far but I am mostly a city driver. It had been acting up for quite sometime before I finally let it run rough on idle (on a cold start) to run the code. What I would usually do is give it some gas and it would push enough water out of the cylinder head after heating up and run fine. I took it to two mechanics where after many attempts at the easier stuff (Changed spark plug, plug itself, fuel injector seal, etc) I finally decided to ask him to do a pressure test on the coolant system from reading much of this issue. After that he said it took two days for there to be enough fluid to see physically. The second mechanic ran a camera down the cylinder and could see a slight amount of water to verify the other mechanics diagnosis. With that being said, it must have a very small crack in the head, hopefully enough for me to get my full 5 years out of it I originally wanted. So far I have had it for three and only put 30,000 miles (extra miles) on it. Right now it is around 177,000. So if Blue Devil can get me another 30,000 to 50,000 ill be a happy cat! Cheers to all the other 4runner owners with these shitty gasket models and issue. Within the week, Sunshine will get her Blue Devil. Now I need to decided if I want to trade it in or just let her see how long she will go.
Sounds like we had a pretty similar issue. Thing is, you could trade it in even after the BlueDevil. For under $100 you could be driving again with no leak. Sounds like a mild leak and BD would probably work great!
UPDATE: Blue Devil did the job. So far I see no more bubble in the radiator when it is topped off. Once it idled for the 50 minuets, and I drove it for a bit, the check engine light went off. I did not need to clear the code, it went off on it own. However, the traction lights are still on and I'm going to pull the battery for a few minuets and see if they will go away.
Mine lasted about 5,600 miles before it failed. Not bad. But it ended up being the freeze plug. Large hole that was a little harder to seal. But great job and great memories from the 5,600 miles driven. Mayne it would've lasted longer if the hole was smaller on the engine block.
Man that mom and pop is rare as hell. Wish there were more shops like this, can't wait to retire out the service and have a mom and pop of my own. GOALS!🙌
I used blue devil and I really thought it didn't work for the first month. The white smoke went away after a couple days but the engine kept running really rough. A month later and a couple thousand miles, it started running really smooth. I cleaned the spark plug that used to get really fouled, it was pretty clean compared to before devil. Now it runs pretty damn near perfect. Glad I didn't get rid of it in the time it took to work.

Glad it worked out for you man. I didn't have that you did and I actually had to pull my heads. I still like to see the updates for products like this. Amazing some people have great results and others not. Also that shop owner was cool. Granted it cost him almost nothing to do the test. Still cool of him.
Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. It is crazy it can work so well for some and not at all for others. Thanks for the comment! I'm really still amazed it actually worked so well for me. Blue Devil is guaranteed, did you get your money back?
As a dealership tech I've never considered using gasket in a can but I have 2 cars right now that don't deserve to have the heads pulled. I'll call that an opportunity to give this stuff a chance.
I ended up recommending Rislone 31136 to both of the guys after reading the Blue Devil instructions. They couldn't get into the mechanical work required to pull the thermostat and drain/fill the cooling system so the single step Rislone seemed more appropriate. Both of the cars aren't overheating and are being used so we're good for now.
Awesome video! I just used it on my caddy with the northstar (garbage motor) and it couldn’t idle for 50 minutes like suggested. I kept having to turn the car off and let it cool off. When I got tired of doing that. I kept spraying the motor with my garden hose. Doing that while also leaving the radiator cap off so it wouldn’t build too much pressure. The blue devil seems to have worked like a charm! But it’s only been a week. So we’ll see!!
I caught a very minor head gasket leak just because I was fixing a leaky coolant hose. I noticed that the radiator had a very small stream of bubbles coming to the top. I’ll try this. I believe it’s just a coolant to external leak because the oil still looks brand new and there’s no white smoke or crap on the oil cap, and the engine still sounds great
Hye bro. Did you try?? Did you get any results.. I have also the same issue only coolent leak and have bubble in radiator. No white smoke and engine Oil also in good condition.. plz help me out what should I have to do
@@bibektimilsina4191 I ended up replacing my head gasket because it got noticeably worse and I wanted to do it right. Took my thanksgiving break off (I was still in highschool at this point) and spent about $500 on gaskets and getting my head resurfaced and then put it all back together and I’m still driving it today
Do you pull the thermostat? It looks like it is on the bottom of the engine and everything will drain out. So can you drain the blue devil out after the 50 minutes?
That's awesome, I just hit a year after using it on my 85 Chevy K5. I'm actually thinking about trying the Blue Devil Transmission Stop leak on my wife's truck. I have heard great reviews on that as well.
My 4th gen is like this too. Fine when driving around town. Under stress towing it spits out fluid and is low thus causes it to overheat. Your test is inconclusive cause it was fine around town to start with. You need to stress it towing for an hour to really find out .
🤣 his face knowing u ghosted him from paying and him knowing his words may encourage free diagnosis and ppl off to fix it on their own . Facial expression says all LoL some zoom in haha
My 2004 Yukon has 143k, not overheating but I see the engine oil cap has that milky color that I have to clean off all the time. It’s not leaking coolant on the ground and the water pump and all is still working strong. But I can tell since it’s a 2004 it’s time and may have a small crack in the gasket somewhere.
My brother just gave me his old Grand Marquis LS and it's having a bad leak. We pulled the intake a while ago but I'm having heart issues so hopefully this shiznit fixes it!!
Just a heads up, my 2nd gen passed the block tester, however I kept having coolant pushed into my overflow. After sticking a camera into my spark plug holes, it's very clear to me I have a small leak. Don't trust the block test 100%.. I'll be using blue magic to see if it works (after dealership quoted 7k on repair or 14k for a rebuilt engine). Trucks not worth that, so it's a perfect candidate. Just make sure to remove your thermostat if you want to stay on the safe side.
I got my 2003 Ford F150 with 160k and a minor head gasket issue. I have to put blue devil in it every year, right when the weather gets hot... but... I'm at 230k miles right now and it's still running strong. BUT, you've gotta stay on top of flushing and using the blue devil. Will not work on major issues, of course.
Do you do it just for routine or do your coolant temps go up? I put blue devil on my ram 2 years ago and it worked but now i see those temps going back up
@@josuemagallanes1923 Yes, because the temp goes back up. The assumption is that it just can't hold that long, but also it happens when it gets hot out. I'm in Vegas, it's been 115°-118° this week. Every year, of course, around the same time. By the way, it finally took a crap on Sunday. Just over 231k miles. Time to buy another truck, yay.
Damn, I wish that I had a mechanic like that-- everyone around here charges a $60 to $90 diagnostic fee. By the way, Blue Devil worked on my 2006 Subaru Tribeca for 2.3 years now.
I put that shit in my car and for some reason it leaked worse than before! People, if your head gasket is leaking just save the money and fix it right or throw that car in the gutter and get another one! 1200$ for a head gasket or 1200$ for a whole used car! DON'T PUT THIS SHIT IN YOUR WHIP!
To my knowledge you have to flush twice, then you apply with part water an you need a new Thermostat then you should be ok you can’t just pour it in. Most people apply it wrong
I yes used the blue devil in my truck it had oil smel came in from some where after two hours no more smell job is done great super great product the best😎
the best way to test with combustion leak test is have the vehicle running at normal operating temp making sure the cooling fan kick in it simulate hot engine which metal parts expand.
@@TrailBendersOverland lots of white smoke. May be too severe but the car is getting stripped if it doesn't work. Payed $200 for it so its more of an experiment

I'm glad to find your video .. Might work for me, mine has never overheated but I have the rough start and missing coolant plus I also did the blue liquid test and it was positive. It only sucks maybe 12~15oz of fluid a week, driving about 400 miles in that week. Here's to hoping.
I haven't personally used it..but I hear of people getting 1-2 years out of this stuff all the time... Will def have to give it a try if something happens.
I just threw some Blue Devil in my 2009 Aveo 1.6L with a minor leak into the cylinder when it was hot. Hard start when cold and most of the time when hot, plus a coolant burn smell at idle. Real minor leak. It seems to be working. Hard start has gone away, as has the coolant smell. Only time will tell.
I have a bad head gasket so I use alcohol mix in the winter. I have to vent off my radiator bottle or it will push coolant into #2 piston. Coolant causes extreme difficulty starting if #2 cylinder get coolant into it. Alcohol burns off where Ethylene Glycol doesn't. I need to seal the gasket long enough to go buy another vehicle. Thanks for the !
Just tried this stuff, Silverado sat for 3 years, bad gaskets, lots of coolant in the oil. Seems to have stopped it, will know more next weekend. If it doesn't work, new long block w 4 year warranty is less than 2k.
I purchased this BlueDevil 00209 Pour-N-Go Head Gasket Sealer, 473-mL and it did not work for me on my Dodge Grand Caravan 2007 with 207K Km on it - after about one week, the issue persists. Then I purchased the Rislone Head Seal Blown Head Gasket Repair, 1-L, and used only 600 grams, which worked for me - after 3 days it stopped leaking.
Used the blue devil head gasket sealer on my 07 tundra with pickup camper , had a small head leak after testing so decided to use , the seal lasted me about 1000 miles on my trip , permanent- No
About to try blue devil on my 4th gen 4Runner smell leak that causes a misfire only on cold start some times just for a few seconds then goes away I’m hoping it works for me great vid thanks for posting
I had my car overheat and water keep boiling and overflowed over the radiator reservoir. I brought my car to AAACO Car Care. The technician tested and checked it, he concluded the car was blow heat gasket. It costed me $95 for his test. I followed your information by using BlueDevil step by step.. Now I can run hours. But at stop signs or at red lights the car is a little higher than normal (the needle show at 55-60% than normal.) Plus the rad reservoir sometimes still boils and a little overflows. But when I drive without stops, then the temperature is lower than normal.. Do you think I still have blow head gasket? I don't see water in the oil stick and oil cap has no milk chocolate color. No smoke comes out from exhaust pipes.
Sounds like there might still be a small leak honestly. If there’s bubbles in the reservoir then that’s most likely exhaust gas. Did you leave the blue Devil in for a few days of drain it all immediately after.
I had a cracked head on my bmw from overheating it due to the expansion tank failing. I put blue devil in it and it would hold for about 8-12 months and then start over heating again and putting air in the coolant system. Mind you I beat the crap out of that car and the head itself was cracked and warped. I’d put blue devil in it again and it would hold for another 8-12 months. I am a firm believer in this stuff tho and always tell people you have to follow the directions on the dot or else it won’t work.
Super good video brother! Question for you, as to what product and how much you think I should use. I have a 1995 Subaru 1.8L 4-CYL boxer Impreza, 177,000 miles. I have 76 and 78 PSI dry compression in #2 and 4 of one head (driver side). This started a few days ago, we noticed while on a highway trip the power was weak and I can hear it missing as the RPMs drop from driving to idle. I don't have overheating, excessive oil consumption (drippy seals, I add a quart about every 900 miles), smoking, or fluids cross contamination. I'm waiting to have a leak down and another dry/wet compression test at a different shop. The first shop only did dry compression and wasn't too bright or helpful. If I end up having a head gasket leak between those two cylinders, what products would I possibly try to mend it? It must not be too bad of a leak, whatever it is, for the compression to build to 78psi dry. The other two good cylinders are 130ish psi. If it ends up being a valve leak, what products and strength could I try to get them clean? After cleaning, I will have valve clearances checked, as it's probably never been done. I want to see a complete test of all products on all sorts of leak sizes and places. But probably unlikely to ever be done.
Hi man...hope you have been well. I am still curious if your four runner is still working? and if not are you going to change the gasket? Watching from Nairobi, Kenya...cheers!
I have a similar case as you I have a small combustion leak in the coolant and only gets warm when I push the car, my question is did you pull any plugs to run blue devil?
I just did a head gasket job… and It’s still bubbling at higher rpms. Or every 10-15 seconds. :( My symptoms were on summer time with prolonged driving at high rpm. Exhaust gas would get into the coolant. And overheat. Got my head completely rebuilt, the head was super straight, the block, I made it straight. I didn’t find any cracks in the block that I could see. So I’m either a hypochondriac I have a porous block. Or the crack is in the bottom of the cylinder and obstructed by the piston.
I believe BD is mostly sodium silicate which is rigid when cured, glass like. It works well on alu head and block as they expand and contract at similar rates but if you had an iron block with alu head it won't work as well. Due to micomovements of the block/head eventually they will fail as sodium silicate has no give.
$6k for a HG on these newer cars. I’m sorry, but I’d have to park her, buy a manual, and do the work myself! I know some can knock this out in hours but if it takes me a week, it’s still worth it!
Will this work for my 98 grand marquis ls.I’ve had a tune up, intake changed , and thermostat and radiator flush .On regular roads the temp hands rises and drives a rough but on the highway it runs great. I’m hoping this will work
I thought my engine was trash I mean I had coolant in the oil I had rough idle and white cloud smoke honey smell Was even difficult to get it started and keep it running while I did the whole process , I'm going on 2 weeks Its still running now , Sims 2 completely sealed After a second application because of 1st application Didn't give it time to heal and was towing a trailer

Thanks for posting this video. I just don't have the money to pay for a head gasket repair right now so this video is exactly what I'm looking for.
Did you try it?
WhT is the results?
Glad I found this video, I've been hesitant driving around with a $70 bottle of Blue Devil in my 4Runner...
Got an update for us?
?? Update ?
Have an 05 deville with a pos northstar. I’m about to use blue devil, would love to know how yours held up.
Yeah. It didn’t. Haha
That is one cool workshop man, I wish I had them in my area!
Dude, that’s how I felt until I found this place. I’ve never had such a great and friendly experience.
No white smoke and engine Oil also in good condition.. plz help me out what should I have to do
Update??
@@bibektimilsina4191 I ended up replacing my head gasket because it got noticeably worse and I wanted to do it right. Took my thanksgiving break off (I was still in highschool at this point) and spent about $500 on gaskets and getting my head resurfaced and then put it all back together and I’m still driving it today
Im in Del Mar. I will try Scott's. I used blue devil in my 2000 Dodge 4.7L a week ago and is working so far.
Does your dodge also use the Mopar purple coolant?
Do you pull the thermostat? It looks like it is on the bottom of the engine and everything will drain out. So can you drain the blue devil out after the 50 minutes?
That's awesome, I just hit a year after using it on my 85 Chevy K5. I'm actually thinking about trying the Blue Devil Transmission Stop leak on my wife's truck. I have heard great reviews on that as well.
Is it still working??
My 4th gen is like this too. Fine when driving around town. Under stress towing it spits out fluid and is low thus causes it to overheat. Your test is inconclusive cause it was fine around town to start with. You need to stress it towing for an hour to really find out .
🤣 his face knowing u ghosted him from paying and him knowing his words may encourage free diagnosis and ppl off to fix it on their own . Facial expression says all LoL some zoom in haha
Correct me if Im wrong but in the first part you were getting head gasket quotes for hella cheap.
The quotes were for the block test, not for the head gasket replacement.
Did you try it?
My brother just gave me his old Grand Marquis LS and it's having a bad leak. We pulled the intake a while ago but I'm having heart issues so hopefully this shiznit fixes it!!
Shop seems super awesome. I sure hope they’re doing very wel!
depends how hard you drive the car as well. Best way to tell if you have a blown head gasket is to keep an eye on your coolant level & oil
@@Rico702Vegas How many times have you added the blue devil??
Damn, I wish that I had a mechanic like that-- everyone around here charges a $60 to $90 diagnostic fee. By the way, Blue Devil worked on my 2006 Subaru Tribeca for 2.3 years now.
Hope I don't end up regretting using this stuff...
I put that shit in my car and for some reason it leaked worse than before! People, if your head gasket is leaking just save the money and fix it right or throw that car in the gutter and get another one! 1200$ for a head gasket or 1200$ for a whole used car! DON'T PUT THIS SHIT IN YOUR WHIP!
only put it in a car thats not worth fixing. like a $500 bucket that needs to get you around for a bit til u can get something better
To my knowledge you have to flush twice, then you apply with part water an you need a new Thermostat then you should be ok you can’t just pour it in. Most people apply it wrong
I did what it said and it's junk! I just put the head gasket on anyways
You probably did it wrong cus I just did it and fix my leaking head gasket
I yes used the blue devil in my truck it had oil smel came in from some where after two hours no more smell job is done great super great product the best😎
the best way to test with combustion leak test is have the vehicle running at normal operating temp making sure the cooling fan kick in it simulate hot engine which metal parts expand.
Good to hear that worked for you. Im going to try it.
Let me know how it goes! What are your symptoms?
@@TrailBendersOverland lots of white smoke. May be too severe but the car is getting stripped if it doesn't work. Payed $200 for it so its more of an experiment
@@kendrickwilliams3696 Sounds worse than mine for sure. But you never know! does the car drive somewhat okay? To me it's worth the chance of it working.
@@TrailBendersOverland got it to look normal at the exhaust end. Only halfway through experiment tho. Haven t driven it. Idles fine and revs normally tho. Will take it on the highway later for a run.
Awesome!! Hoping for the best! Also, don’t be afraid to leave the blue Devil in for a few days.
Thanks alot for this video, and thank you for showing that shop as well , you are doing a great service to the community as well , keep up the good work young man many , many of us greatly appreciate your efforts. 😎
I'm glad to find your video .. I've got an old truck I just changed head gaskets on .. the old ones were not blown I couldn't find a crack in the block or the heads .. but after putting it back together I've still got exhaust coming up thru the radiator.. I bought some Blue dmDevil and wondered if it would work or not.... I guess in I few minutes I'll find out .. this video has gave me hope
Did it work?
Might work for me, mine has never overheated but I have the rough start and missing coolant plus I also did the blue liquid test and it was positive. It only sucks maybe 12~15oz of fluid a week, driving about 400 miles in that week. Here's to hoping.
Did it work for you?
I haven't personally used it..but I hear of people getting 1-2 years out of this stuff all the time... Will def have to give it a try if something happens.
I just threw some Blue Devil in my 2009 Aveo 1.6L with a minor leak into the cylinder when it was hot. Hard start when cold and most of the time when hot, plus a coolant burn smell at idle. Real minor leak. It seems to be working. Hard start has gone away, as has the coolant smell. Only time will tell.
Aaron
I have the exact same problem cheve aveo
Please let me know what's the update is it still working fine?
I used this in 2013 to fix my 2004 Kia Sorento and never had a problem till I sold the car.
Did you change to regular coolant after sometime or you kept that product all the time?
I have a bad head gasket so I use alcohol mix in the winter. I have to vent off my radiator bottle or it will push coolant into #2 piston. Coolant causes extreme difficulty starting if #2 cylinder get coolant into it. Alcohol burns off where Ethylene Glycol doesn't. I need to seal the gasket long enough to go buy another vehicle. Thanks for the !
Honest mechanic, I like that.
I just put some bars head sealer in my 05 civic shitbox. Seems to be doing okay.
good video and what a great guy at Scotts automotive
Wow I live in oceanside and work on leucadia. My sisters mdx is having issues, I just might go there instead of my original shop I wanted to go.
Blown gasket on my 98 4runner. Been driving like that for months. Everyone is telling me to engine swap. I wanna try this soon
So far so good with my Honda Accord, working good
How’s it going ? I want to do it to my sons Honda accord
@@bikelife4118 it's been almost a year since I did my 02 Honda Accord so far so good still working fine
What year accord???
@@obxguy1 02 Honda Accord
Thermalweld will seal it even more effective than blue devil. I’d try it out
Used the blue devil head gasket sealer on my 07 tundra with pickup camper , had a small head leak after testing so decided to use , the seal lasted me about 1000 miles on my trip , permanent- No
Can’t find the original video. Where you first put in the blue devil. Thanks for the update tho. Really helpful
Hi there. It seems another year has passed since this video. May I ask, is your engine still running ok? Thanks bro!
I would also like know how is that engine running
@@enriquesilva8952 I needed up adding this to my radiator 3 months ago and it worked for me, so far...
Did you flush the system in between each addition ??
Hey man ,I been looking for this vedio what was the steps beginning to end? Blue devil (how much qt need it)
Appreciate
Worked GREAT on my truck.
Shout out to the shop? I’ll try to see them I’m close by
Hi man...hope you have been well. I am still curious if your four runner is still working? and if not are you going to change the gasket? Watching from Nairobi, Kenya...cheers!
That's a cool shop that helped you.
Heck yeah it is!
I have a similar case as you I have a small combustion leak in the coolant and only gets warm when I push the car, my question is did you pull any plugs to run blue devil?
We didn't pull any plugs.
I just did a head gasket job… and It’s still bubbling at higher rpms. Or every 10-15 seconds. :(
My symptoms were on summer time with prolonged driving at high rpm.
Many cracks can not be seen with the naked eye.
It was fine. The car and head gasket seals fine.
Cool vid...real humble guy👍🏽 ty for sharing
Is the Blue Devils still working?
How would be the procedure if you have timing chain cover leak, would you pour it in the radiator?
So I have a V6 with a manifold leak I was going to use the Blue devil on but someone was saying it might clog my heater core, is that true?
Man if I lived near that mechanic that would be the guy I went to
I believe BD is mostly sodium silicate which is rigid when cured, glass like. It works well on alu head and block as they expand and contract at similar rates but if you had an iron block with alu head it won't work as well. Due to micomovements of the block/head eventually they will fail as sodium silicate has no give.
Any updates?
Hi, quick question did you drive your car normally those two weeks you had the sealer inside the cooling system?
3 years. How’s it going?
$6k for a HG on these newer cars. I’m sorry, but I’d have to park her, buy a manual, and do the work myself! I know some can knock this out in hours but if it takes me a week, it’s still worth it!
Great shop great modo! Kudos to them
It's been over 2yrs now did it still work
Honest Shop 👍
Where are they Located?
Do you think it will fix a leaking freeze plug?
Ima like this video for the shop
Stoked that so many can appreciate them through this video. Such rad people there.
Hi I have a 4Runner with the same issue can u link or tell me exactly what blue devil u used please
hello Dillo ! how is the 4runner doing ? after 2 yrs
i wish scotts and mike was around here damn it
Wow. How's it holding up so far? Have you driven long distance with it?
Almost a year now... any issues or is it still good
Awesome vid man!
Does it turn off check engine light once it's applied correctly
Hows it holding up now as the video was 11months ago
No it was 3 years ago haha
Has the leak come back or is it still sealed?
