Yes it is hip hop don't be scared to say it!! Jinjer is purposefully mixing up their favorite music genres with metal. Some songs are jazzy some are leaning into reggae or bossa nova or even hip hop. This falls into the genre of Nu metal i think. It is basically very progressive music that goes back and forth between different "smooth" genres and metal. I really love this dynamic in style and tempo. Jinjer is my favorite band ever. I am so excited for more of your videos! Greetings from austria
Weeell, interestingly enough, it's a 4/4 all the way, but Vlad takes advantage of the sick strange guitar riff to do bars of 4-4-4-3-4-4-5-4 (which ends up being the same as 8 compasses of 4) All in all, fucking cool and sounds super spontaneous :)
In my humble opinion, this song is a perfect song. A complex time signature, insane musicianship, variance in the song, Tatiana gets to show off the full range of her vocal capabilities, a wink to Pink Floyd's No Education. And I'm sure I missed a few more things that make this song so rich and endlessly replayable. LOVE the reaction to it. I also love that you do both a reaction and an analysis in your videos. The captions say what you are thinking and your face show how you are feeling. Awesome channel!
Judgement and Punishment One Take vocal is incredible. Also, I Speak Astronomy (official music video) is my personal favorite. The whole band is incredible (not Vlad but an earlier drummer) and Tatiana's vocals are killer...
Wdym not Vlad? Vlad is a human metronome, a near-on genius on those drums with the rhythms and especially poly rhythms and the insane technicals he and the rest of the band are pulling. He's helped take the band to new proggy heights.
I was not a fan of growling. I watched Pisces and was shocked. Something about it was intriguing. Watched a few more times. Had to see if it was real. Watched Perennial Live at Wacken. Blown away. Watched Who Is Gonna Be The One Live. That's it. I'm all in now. Tatiana and this band are INCREDIBLE!
Having been a fan of OTEP for 20ish years, but still not a fan of most other growling type vocals, discovering Tatiana has completely changed my view on the style. Can't get enough of her now. She and Randy Blythe from Lamb of God have very similar growl tones and styles. Love em both.
That "warning" ping sound at the end was the bass player pulling on the higher G string like a funk player would slap and pop. With distortion on the bass you get that ringing sound. Loving your Jinger reactions!
I feel like Tati might have watched your Perennial reaction because of the way she answered a question about warmups in her interview with Loudwire "How Jinjer's Tatiana Shmaylyuk Learned to Scream." Tatiana uses rap cadence in her growls a lot, with her clean vocals less so, but it is definitely one of the tools in her toolset she's not afraid to use and uses well. If you want to compare live and studio there is Teacher Teacher live in Melbourne. If you ever want to do double-features to Jinjer songs that have both omv and official live, you won't get any complaints. At least, not from the Jinjer fans. Your statement about the emotional drive feels absolutely true to me. What makes her my favorite singer is the feeling she puts into everything she sings, and that comes through so powerfully on stage. Sit Stay Roll Over live at Melbourne has more of her vocal tricks than any other song that I've seen recorded and is well worth checking out. The entire Melbourne show was released as Alive In Melbourne as a live album and the full set video is on YT. As to belting: I Speak Astronomy has arguably the most intense belting of any Jinjer song live (she growls the belted line from Pisces on stage), though the official video is so beautiful it is hard to pick just one version to recommend. On The Top live in Kiev and Words of Wisdom official live have most of the clean lines being belted.
Judgement and Punishment one take should be your next reaction/analysis...its Tatiana standing up to a microphone ..side view so you can really see how she sings very clearly. Perfect for analysis. Great song too
Great review/reaction. I think this is my favorite jinjer song. It's just so well written. Tatiana's vocal acrobatics and stag presence is mind boggling. Love the double kick drum portion it just gets you worked up. I will never get sick of this song.

This is my favorite song of theirs. My favorite part is when Tatiana stomps her foot down and says "Teacher, teacher, self-proclaimed preacher." Just so incredibly powerful and commanding. The breakdowns immediately after the blast beats is another favorite part. This reaction might also be my favorite reaction.
They're one of those bands that are all excellent musicians but can be overshadowed because the vocalist is INSANELY talented. The absolute noise they put out live is unreal.
I love Jinjer. Tatiana taught me to learn to appreciate metal screams. I did not ever apreaciate that harshness prior. Then I had to stretch my appreciation of the crazy, changing, hard, instrumentation, as well.. Jinjer is just so awesome.
I wondered if you'd do this reaction, so happy to see it. For me it's her growls that grabs you and brings you in, but after listening to a lot of Jinjer tracks/albums, I've come to appreciate the band as a whole. The drummer, bassist and guitarists are all phenomenal, it just took me a little longer to realize it. Always love to her your input!
I can tell you really really loved this song! It’s my favorite as well because of all the various vocals, music arrangement and almost three song tunes in one. Such a great song with a sound message of school. Thanks Julia, a wonderful reaction once again.🙏🏼🌹💕
Around 7 min in you mentioned Tatiana's voice feeling energized even when she is calm. Its certainly understandable as you make the example of the counter point. Your voice is always calm and relaxing even when you are excited. Its a very centered, comfortable vibe you project. After the shock of Pisces there is a lot to love about this whole band and you seem like you'll continue to enjoy them. Hope you keep bringing us more of them.
Having heard them perform this live; it's a total showcase of everything that they can do as a band. For such a tiny woman her stage presence and allure is awesome. Great to see you loving this band again. Cheers Julia.
The dinging in the end is Eugene hitting the bottom string of his bass. Both Eugene and Roman have tech at their disposal through pedals and their backstage tech to deliver all the little extra flavor sounds you hear during their live performances. Especially in terms of the music, what you hear on the album tends to be what they play live. @@DK-wl4ne and the video is powerful. A bit of background might help here - in 2014 war broke out in eastern Ukraine shortly after Russia occupied the Crimean Peninsula. The battle lines would have stopped them touring so they were forced to leave their homes, families, and friends behind and move to western Ukraine. There is a ceasefire now, and Tati says "it isn't being bombed anymore" and they can visit their families once a year. But as the song says, home isn't just a place but is security and freedom and nobody has that in a warzone.

Can we give some props to the videographers who work with Jinjer? In all of their live and official videos, I’m super impressed by the camera work. In the lead-in to the second chorus of this one, I can never refrain from bobbing my head when the camera follows Vlad’s exaggerated snare hit and continuing from there. So good! 😍
Absolute favorite Jinjer song for me. I can't help but think about the performance of the bass player about loading a pump gun while the drummer is unpacking the minigun. 😁
Nice one Julia - great analysis of what's probably my favorite Jinjer track. Not your subject, but another thing to note in this video is the editing: the use of slow-mo and (I think) post-production sweeps (like when Tati points across the stage and the camera 'swings' to look where she's pointing) are absolutely on-point. It raises a video that's basically 'just concert footage' to a whole new level.
I think they are the best thing in music today. Tatiana is a rock goddess. The band is insane. I saw them in person several mos ago and they sound just as good in person. They are a must see 🙏🙏
Tatiana has the ability to express LOTS of emotion in her vocals with her stylistic changes (not just the growls). Love watching you react to Jinjer and can't wait to see what else you've come up with. 😁
Watching you face and seeing the moment you actually took it in and you realized how amazingly super talented this band is and how they make music that reaches in and grips your soul hard!
Julia, (Юлия - in Russian)) - you make me happy in musical sense. Everytime) Tati (to my mind) - is our Princess of Metal Music. But Jinjer are no Tatiana only. This bass, drums, guitar... You know, you hear it. Couse you are the Professional. Thank you for this one. Thank you for your excellent reactions, your job. This is very important for many musical people. And my cry: more Dimash, please)))
Oh, wow, what an amazing take on this song! I love how you got the hip hop vibes right away and how much you enjoyed! Please, do more Jinjer, they are amazing and they do push composition to a crazy beautiful place. You will always find contrast and eclecticism in their songs, can’t wait for you to do Ape and Home Back and frankly just any song you have on queue 💥🔥
Good Lord! I just love your reactions. Your emotions cannot be faked. Even on stuff where I'm not a fan of musically (this doesn't qualify, I love Jinjer) you are entertaining and informative. Don't change your approach please. Thanks for your time in doing these! God Bless!!!
Love your thoughts on the lyrics! Glad you're putting out more Jinjer reactions, you're one of my favorite people to watch since you go into so much detail beyond "hot lady scary" (which is also completely true and valid lol)
I can't wait until October to see these guys (unless they postpone again). Julia as you listen more to them you'll see just how diverse this band is. I just really love them, their sound, Tatiana's vocals, everything is just so fresh sounding and awesome! The sound you heard at the end was from the bassist. I think I saw a live version of this and he made that sound. When I first heard it I had to re play it a few times because it was such a unique sound coming from a bass. It's kind of like I never knew the beginning part of "For Whom The Bell Tolls" from Metallica was actually Cliff Burtin playing the bass, I always thought it was a regular guitar (I found out after I saw them live and I was blown away). Anyways, the band is amazing, Tatiana is amazing, and I can't wait to see them!
Yay!🤘🤘 Another Jinjer reaction, thanks Julia! Lovely breakdown of Tatiana's vocals here and your genuine reactions are a joy to watch. And yes I am part of the Jinjer crowd and I don't mind you re-emphasising Tatiana's (and the band's) greatness😁😁
Experiencing Jinjer music through your responses adds a great dimension of knowledge on one hand (although I'm not familiar with most of the technical terms you use, TBH), but more important is watching someone who's not a metalhead connects so deeply to their music. They are truly unique, inside and outside the metal genre. Your natural responses (for example on 9:50) shows what music means to you. Good job on the career choice! ;)
11:51 This was the highlight of my day. Also, to answer your question about the "alarm" sound at the end, that's the bassist. He's hitting a low note on the 1s and then flicking a high string note on the 3s. It's an amazingly simple-yet-effective compliment to the guitarist's syncopated riff.
12:35 that was the Bassman. He first playes the root note and then hits a chord with the tritonus. (Yes, at Times there are two guitar tracks, even though they have only one Guitarrist) They'll just have some backingtracks live, for that.
Julia watching: Pisces - giggling, panting sounds, big eyes, "WAAAT?!" Perennial - shocked with vocal transition in live Teacher, Teacher - headbanging. The moral of a fable: only two Jinjer tracks and Julia is a metalhead =D
I love how you react at 9:51, just smily and laughing at how good it is. I have this with other bands (Vildhjarta as an example) where you just can't hold back and have any other emotion other then laughing because it's so damn good. This is something that only music can give as an emotion and I'm happy to see you've discovered this in metal music as well.
Teacher, Teacher was my first Jinjer song. I was so ready for it to just be an almost pantera style groove-metal song and then I got smacked in the side of the head with what it actually is. Always a joy to listen to.
So many things to like about this reaction. A genuinely knowledgeable person actually 'reacting' and above all the best hair I have ever seen. Thanks Julia
Awesome as always. You're not alone in picking up the hiphop cadence in this one :) If you're wanting to hear more of her high belts, then I Speak Astronomy is a must listen. The music video is fantastic too.
Just an awesome reaction Julia! This is the type of reaction that is just how I felt first time listening to it, spot on ... wonder if I was alone almost shouting "NOO DONT PAUSE!!!!!" in the end there when you reached ... just before the wall of death happened ... :) Your reaction there is brilliant! :)
I was drawn here by Julia's extensive technical knowledge of music. Of course it doesn't hurt that she's a gorgeous ginger that enjoys listening to Jinjer (and Tatiana especially!)
There is a proper live version of this available. JINJER - Teacher, Teacher! (Live in Melbourne) | Napalm Records And as you can imagine Tatiana and the guys knock it outa the park.
This is their second best clickbait song, the other is obviously Pisces, but they never disappoint! My love and prayers to Jinjer and the rest of the Ukraine!💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏
That alarm sound at the end is coming from the bass, he's hitting all the strings in down strokes with all his fingers to produce it. He does do it live except you don't hear it as clearly as in this music video.
Actually I tried raking all the strings like you've explained but get a huge wall of sound rather than the ring. I'm pretty sure it's the higher strings pulled and let slap on the fretboard. That would give you the ringing sustain.
@@alijafri2022 it's down strokes, you can see it in the video. I've also seen Jinjer play live, I got to be right in front of Eugene. Here's a video that actually shows him playing this song. He doesn't actually hit all the strings just two of the higher strings ua-cam.com/video/3vPA1jH2za4/v-deo.html

They are a must see 🙏🙏
A ginger reacting to Jinjer. This sweet irony is not lost upon me....and it's amazing. Great reaction!!
Tatiana has the ability to express LOTS of emotion in her vocals with her stylistic changes (not just the growls). Love watching you react to Jinjer and can't wait to see what else you've come up with. 😁
This song is in another league . It’s my favorite by far
The drummer with the blast beats!! I felt a cramp coming on just hearing it lmao. Rock on bro!!
Watching you face and seeing the moment you actually took it in and you realized how amazingly super talented this band is and how they make music that reaches in and grips your soul hard!
The "alarm" sound was the bass playing a full chord with a lot of "twang".
She is like having a 4 person vocal group in a tiny little package
The ending of this song is one of the most powerful vocals in any rock or metal song ever, just goose bumps every time… 😳
Julia, (Юлия - in Russian)) - you make me happy in musical sense.
My favorite performance and song by jinjer. Always amazed by tatiana’s voice and the band is amazing. Thank you for this reaction.
FINALLY you revisit Jinjer! I've been waiting for this and you did not disappoint! I really wish you would react to their newest song Home Back.
This song is an absolute masterpiece!
Phenomenal songs like this deserve a fantastic analysis.
Thanks for doing that.
Also thanks for your smile. Can't help smiling every time you do
Love your thoughts on the lyrics! Glad you're putting out more Jinjer reactions, you're one of my favorite people to watch since you go into so much detail beyond "hot lady scary" (which is also completely true and valid lol)
If you want to see how Tatiana and Jinjer have evolved over the years, take a look at their "Scissors" video.
This is a great idea. Or the video of Exposed As A Liar live, released as "JINJER - Crowd Factory Official DVD Trailer"
You're the shiz Julia! I love seeing people appreciate things that are so far out of their normal bounds.
Great reaction, Jinjer always kills it! For that “siren” sound at the end is from the bass player Eugene, who is a monster bass player!
Yay!🤘🤘
Another Jinjer reaction, thanks Julia!
Lovely breakdown of Tatiana's vocals here and your genuine reactions are a joy to watch. And yes I am part of the Jinjer crowd and I don't mind you re-emphasising Tatiana's (and the band's) greatness😁😁
Julia you are great and I love your analyses so much! Really doing their music justice with your comments and I thank you for that
Experiencing Jinjer music through your responses adds a great dimension of knowledge on one hand (although I'm not familiar with most of the technical terms you use, TBH), but more important is watching someone who's not a metalhead connects so deeply to their music. They are truly unique, inside and outside the metal genre. Your natural responses (for example on 9:50) shows what music means to you. Good job on the career choice! ;)
And 11:50 is hilarious
11:51 This was the highlight of my day.
Also, to answer your question about the "alarm" sound at the end, that's the bassist. He's hitting a low note on the 1s and then flicking a high string note on the 3s. It's an amazingly simple-yet-effective compliment to the guitarist's syncopated riff.
Now let's enjoy her lows and screaming with Pit of consciousness live in Kiev. So good played and mixed.
Hands down my favorite Jinjer song. Thanks for reviewing it!
My god I love watching you. You’re reactions are amazing
12:35 that was the Bassman. He first playes the root note and then hits a chord with the tritonus. (Yes, at Times there are two guitar tracks, even though they have only one Guitarrist) They'll just have some backingtracks live, for that.
I really like that you mention and appreciate what the band is doing too, even though your focus is of course on the vocals
Julia watching:
Pisces - giggling, panting sounds, big eyes, "WAAAT?!"
Perennial - shocked with vocal transition in live
Teacher, Teacher - headbanging.
The moral of a fable: only two Jinjer tracks and Julia is a metalhead =D
re-watching in anticipation of seeing Jinjer in concert this Friday in Seattle!
She takes you on a storytelling journey of pure awesomeness
Love the reactions to jinjer! I hope to go to their performance this year!
I have been waiting for this video on this channel! Oh my god made my friggin day!
Awesome as always. You're not alone in picking up the hiphop cadence in this one :)
If you're wanting to hear more of her high belts, then I Speak Astronomy is a must listen. The music video is fantastic too.
Always brightens my day to watch your reactions Julia! Just puts a smile on my face :)
(Live in Melbourne) | Napalm Records
And as you can imagine Tatiana and the guys knock it outa the park.
When you hear the live version from Melbourne, you will appreciate her voice even more. She's killing it in that version
Love your reaction and insight! Great job. Welcome to the Jinjer family! I get chills when she hits those higher notes toward the end. Love this band!
