27:45 had a very similar situation, turned into him being the most amazing person then snapped one night because I wanted to go to bed and he wanted me to push him. Choked me out, held me down while screaming at me for 3+ hours, then held me hostage for days until I forgave him. Exactly what Jon said “if they have the ability to do it in the past, they can do it again” don’t listen to Alex.
In regard to the woman dating a person who’d previously gone to prison for aggravated assault… it’s completely okay for that alone to be a dealbreaker. I agree to always keep your guard up-and give it a LONG time to see the evidence that he’s truly changed before allowing your lives to intermingle or him to meet your child at all. Dangerous people can keep it buttoned up for a LONG time to try to pry their way into your lives and then become abusive or harmful when you are too intertwined to cut it off easily.

If someone went to jail for any violent charge, including aggravated assault, I would never let my guard down around them. Especially if I had a child. He went to jail for 6 years, does she know the details of what he was charged with? How has his time living in prison affected him. Is that the only violent event he’s had or the only one he was arrested and convicted of?
John was describing Vision so clearly like the guy in Endgame who was dating Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's sister. And Alex was still so confident it was Yondu who was in an entirely different movie and wasn't dating anyone in the GOTG movie lmaooooo

Hey guys I just wanted to say first that I love the podcast. I also did want to address the question about the girl who's dating the guy that was diagnosed with CHS. CHS does in fact leave people bed ridden (or shower ridden) because of uncontrollable bouts of vomiting that can last quite some time. It is true that once you stop smoking weed the symptoms go away but it is important to be aware of the fact that THC is how many people seek comfort and when diagnosed with a condition that strips you of your only coping mechanism, it can be very difficult to overcome. It is possible to be addicted to weed and having a diagnosis like that while simultaneously having an addiction to weed is very conflicting to an individual. I just wanted to shed some light so this person doesn't seem like a couch-potato stoner type who doesn't care about his health.
Jon, I totally understand your fear of public speaking, it is my absolute biggest fear and have tried to avoid it all my life. You just have to remember everyone in the audience is there because they are excited to see you and listen to you and Alex. At least it’s not a crowd of people who don’t want to hear you talk like a group of classmates during presentations or a boring business lecture 😂
I truly hope OP from the sexual assault story finds some clarity. No one wants to be that person doubting the claims of a victim, but the whole situation surrounding the incident as well as the aftermath is questionable at best. Even if her partner meant well... "THE ROAD TO HELL IS PAVED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS." Rebuilding trust is arduous; doubt and suspicion will cling like a shadow to every hopeful thought. I wonder what the catalyst to his admission was? Perhaps the chick threatened to tell OP and he wanted to get ahead of it with a "beneficial" spin? I'm so sorry and enraged on OPs behalf.

As someone who used to work in fast food for a long time people throwing their personal garbage in our dumpster drove me nuts! Bags, used tires, arm chair you name it, they tossed it. The reason it’s frustrating is because garbage pickup for us isn’t the same as the city. They’re private companies the businesses hire. So pickup may not be when you think it is. If you dumped 8 of your bags we may not have room for our own garbage before pickup and now have to pay for an additional pickup. That being said, yes I used to use our dumpster to throw out my own stuff at times 😅

I had the weed thing, I was in denial but more like in disbelief that it was a real thing. Like how can you get sick by smoking weed? But it’s actually a thing. You throw up non stop, the only thing that helps is extreme hot showers. I was stuck in the ER for a whole week, I was hooked up on so many drugs that I don’t remember anything in the ER. When I was admitted, the doctor did his own concussion and that finally did the trick. If the girl sees this, there is famous (celebrities) that have gone through this and have spoken out loud, maybe showing those interviews might help him realize it’s a real thing.

Six bags of trash just dump in the commercial businesses’ dumpsters. Spread it out if you feel bad but people post videos dumpster diving all kinds of things and don’t get fined (still crazy imo) so this is just the reverse 😂. The dog 💩 tho, def walk it back to your house!! I’ve had that done to me and you know sometimes the trash collectors just grab your bags and go, so that means the small things at the bottom get left behind! That’s a terrible neighbor that just leaves crap in your bin.

Alex, I'm pretty sure you have ADHD with the dog food story at the end 🤣 and always forgetting things. I just realized I had it earlier this year after a lifetime of things like that and then thinking I'm just forgetful or lazy lol. Also sounds like your oppositional defiant disorder stemming from the ADHD is why brain doesn't prioritize when Jon is asking you to do something and good thing you've worked through it with your reference of the past and how you want to make less work for him because he's your partner. I love the way y'all put that!

I’m with Alex on the dumpster thing. My MIL does the sneak dumping but I just drive out to the dump. Is it a little far? Yeah. Do I not have an anxiety attack over it? Yeah.
