every episode without fail, jon will ask for more context on a scenario and alex will remind him that she also knows only what she read out to him🤣 i can’t imagine young jon reading problem sums of dylan buying 8 watermelons and not having enough money to pay for them, but when the question is “how much money does dylan still require?” jon’s response is “why does he need so many watermelons? if they’re all for him they’ll go off - i bet he could get one and save himself $10.30 if he wasn’t such a greedy bastard.” or something to that effect 🤭🤪

To the one with religious parents who dont want them to move in together: Same thing happened to me. The time came when my bf and I wanted to move in together, I lived with my dad only because my parents are divorced. My dad is the religious one, I pretty much just told him I wanted to move in with my bf. He just said he didn’t agree and that I shouldn’t do it, time passed and he just did as if it wasn’t happening. When the time came and I actually went through with it and moved out he wouldn’t really talk to me. He was pissed for like a month or 2 because he thought that by saying that he didn’t want me to it wouldn’t happen. After time kind of did its thing and we started talking again, he told me welp you are out of the house, it means you can take care of yourself and you can pay your college yourself. (I knew everything else I had to take care of myself. I was not expecting the college thing because that is how it has been in our entire family, college gets paid by our parents, move out or not, married or not, kids or not). No one in my family agreed with what he was doing but when he told me that, I didn’t fight him. I said ok 👍. I was going to do whatever I needed to do in order to finish my college. All this to say: You gotta choose what you want, wait until school is done or you gotta put your pants on and deal with it yourself.

Love the podcast! I agree with Alex when she says it is confidence is what people are attracted but unfortunately we live in a world where certain physical attributes are validated more than the others, leading to people feeling more confident than others. Yes, the people need to look within in order to feel comfortable with how they look and find that confidence but the individual who wrote that particular question might feel more confident by either going to the gym or fixing their teeth. There is nothing wrong in asking to be externally validated to feel confident!

In case the secret person is reading …not only will you regret it for yourself one day looking back on a lifetime of denying your true self but also you say you love your partner but does he deserve to spend his life married to someone who will never be fully in it? You have already taken 7 years of this persons life if you love him at all let him go so he can find someone who can be fully fulfilled by him. You should love yourself enough to do it for you but if that’s too hard then love him enough to do it for him.

I’ve worked in the dental field for 12 years now:
The gym being 10 dollars a month, which is what I do, he can easily be a part of. But that is a long journey and a time commitment and if he struggles this much with confidence now, a better body won’t help him. But yes, he should work out.
Teeth are so interconnected with overall health, physically and mental! He should work on his teeth first financials while he works an out and sees a therapist (or just works on his confidence) not all girls are that shallow.

Exactly! How many of us would be comfortable saying NO to our boss who decides our livelihood on a seemingly innocent request? This is 100% on this guy. Sure she should have deflected it but he’s in the position of power. This screams Harvey Weinstein to me…

    • @xtinaroma
      @xtinaroma 3 місяці тому

It depends on the boss, though, on their personality, the relationship with the coworkers, etc.. It could have been a genuine move from a person who fancied another person, regardless of power dynamics.
I know that if my boss asked me out, I'd be free to politely decline and not fear any repercussions.
If he asked me to just have a drink, surely it'd be unusual, but with the kind of person that he is and with how informal his style of communication is, I would not immediately think of an abuse of power.

    Help with tipping:
    Sit down-
20%+ is for good to great service (not how good food is… did server fix issues and was aware of your needs?)
Poor to average service is fair to give 15%+/-
    Takeout service- 10%+
Ps…. Use discretion. Show great people that they deserve great recognition and be aware that togos at sit down restaurants are usually taking time out of the server’s day and taking them away from their tables… which could mean less tips from others. ❤ be humble… be kind.

Tipping: as a server, I make $2.13/hr while Chick-fil-a workers make $12+/hr. I’m going to make an educated guess that I do a lot more work during my shift and care a whole lot more about my customers as a server compared to a fast food worker. They are so different, if you tip the fast food worker 20%, you’d better tip your (good at their job) server more than 20%. This will always be a topic for debate.

It was scoffed at, but all the following would protect victims if they were mandatory in relationships:
    - paternity tests
    - debt transparency after engagement before marriage
    - Background checks for criminal history at the start
Bad things happen all the time. Leveraging "trust" and "love" are the biggest ways abusers lock in their victims.

So the studies do not reflect that living with someone before marriage helps divorce rates. It’s actually hinders it. (Rosenfeld and Roesler) So even though it’s an outdated concept, it has some validity. (Now the study doesn’t go into the quality of marriage) There is something about commitment at first, without no escape routes, that helps many relationships develop into “one.” One person, one goal, one life.
IMO: Moving in with someone before marriage with the chance of leaving, just does not encourage much needed compromise, that is forced in marriage. Marriage is duty, but worth it. (Though I believe in extended dating 1-2 years at least, not more than 4 years.) ~Again random stranger’s deeply thought out opinion~

Jon- I would look into strengthening your hips and lower back. This might be a cause to why you keep getting injured.

Don’t lie to that guy about his crooked teeth. You need to fix both. You need to go to the gym or work out at home and you should fix your teeth first.

I don’t agree that they should be bound by his parent’s beliefs regardless of the fact of him being dependent on their help with school. I think that’s a ridiculous. No one should hold something over their head. Do what I say or else, that’s some crap

18:48 Jon…it doesn’t matter where it was, no means no. Picture this, 3 employees female 1, female 2, and male 1 go to out of state training. All three end up in female number 1’s room before everyone heads to their respective rooms. Female number 2 steps out to make a call to her BF leaving female 1 and male 1.
Male sexually assaults female number 1 and she repeatedly says stop. He doesn’t rape her but she has to fight to keep him off her. So is it her fault because she allowed him in her room? Fuck no it’s not. It got reported to HR and the male was placed on paid admin leave.
Some people are trusting, Jon you ARE victim blaming! Check yourself
