I think you should be able to appreciate someone's beauty just as you would their character, opinions etc regardless of sex or status without it being inappropriate. The fact that you are openly talking to your wife about it too, shows you meant nothing but kindness toward this person. You said it first, we should all be trying to be genuinely kind to each other.
My older sister and I were engaged the same year. I got engaged in March and she in September 2021. She waited until this year to get married, which allowed for us to focus on one at a time. I eventually stopped caring about planning a ceremony because the only thing everyone could talk about around me was her wedding. I ended up canceling the ceremony,and invited a few people to our court ceremony’s. I think it depends on the family, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to spread out the dates and time. But, the mom didn’t have to tell her about the engagement ring.. it’s suppose to be a surprise.
Also not everyone has the money to throw all these parties. My husband and I didn’t do a bachelor/bachelorette party, bridal shower, honeymoon or whatever else was said haha. We didn’t do anything to celebrate us and no one help plan anything. We had a pool party a month after getting married.. because his family was flying in for vacation. My older sister did all of the parties and I was her Matron of Honor at her wedding. Again got just depends on the family.
I think she was a bit hurt by her husband calling another woman stunning.. it’s completely understandable.. and the way he said she looked like she’s a model made it worse.. and then he said she had kids.. to deflect from the fact that he called her stunning. I think she caught onto that. Anyway stay blessed and happy and John don’t call Any other woman stunning unless it’s your wife! Lol

But I would definitely feel some type of way if my partner said that in front of friends that you know don’t like me. It would be hard for me to believe that it wasn’t a hint of truth in that since they had a complex/rocky relationship in the past. Also, in reference to the other wedding story, just wait until the wedding is over. Brides wait months/years to get married and her sister is likely already stressed out, but excited for her big day and being celebrated as a couple. If your sister got engaged only weeks before your wedding although you would be happy, how hard is it to wait until after the honeymoon. I think it would be normal to feel like some of your spotlight was stolen. If it was months before it’s whatever but a few weeks prior… before or after not close to the date
