- Mercedes M113k Rough Idle Misfire on Multiple Cylinders 3, 4, 5, 7 Smooth Running Test
Trying to figure out why my M113k mercedes engine idles rough. It feels like multiple cylinder misfires but doesn't throw any fault codes.
This is the first part of how to repair the rough idle on the m113k engine

Any updates? I'm having exactly the same issue. Rough idle, smooth running check shows off values, no misfires recorded.
No update, haven't had the chance to look at it since I uploaded this video. I will post a video if I ever get to the bottom of this.
Hi, I’ve got the same problem but for me is during cold start and smoothing out when it gets hot. Any ideas?
Probably bad o2 sensors or cats, you need to check live data during cold start.
👍👍👍
✌️
did you find what was in the end ? there is possibility that compression of the engine is not good , and the ECU is trying to balance , try and make a compression test
No, not yet. I guess doing a compression test will be my next move.
@@SlowFord i did on my e55 m113k , compression test today , all around 10.5 bars with cold engine and 1 spark plug removed from all cylinders , no difference between the cylinders , i also have the problem on idle , change the sparkplugs , all good , compression is good , i found an oil leak valve cover gaskets , i will replace them today (but i dont think is from there)
@@onetwo-fw9rg do you still have the primary cats on the car? How many miles?
yes i still have them 109.000 km
Have you tried replacing the electrical connectors to the coil packs?
No need to, I certain that those wires are not the problem. Just bought 2 new O2 sensors, the old ones didn't threw any codes but they are over 18 years and 300.000km old
@@SlowFord Update. I used techron fuel injector cleaner and haven't had this issue again yet. I found this from someone on the forms with the same issue as us. His solution was techron fuel injector cleaner and he also cleaned the throttle body. I haven't gotten to TB yet but he is claiming both made a huge difference.
I replaced all fuel injectors and didn't do any difference.
@@SlowFord Well my issue came back when it got cold again. You're not going to believe this, but replacing the trans mount has seemed to eliminate the issue more than anything else. It's running smoother than ever now even when cold. Still a tiny bit rough sometimes. I'm going to change the motor mounts soon and I think the issue will be 100% gone then. I don't even understand it. Replaced the trans mount in my e320 too, made the car sound/feel like an entirely new car. It was running loud, making all sorts of different noises coming from engine bay. Completely quiet and smooth now.
@@1n2333 i already replaced motor mounts and transmission mount. Still does the same thing when the engine is cold. Sometimes also does it when the engine is at operating temperature.
Same Problem here. No solution for now.
- O2 Sensors new
- Compression ok
- New Spark Plugs
- New Ignition Coils
- No secondary air
- New timing Chain
The Ignition timing jumps around. Its getting better when the engine gets hot. I have no idea what this could be.
I noticed that also, when the engine is running at normal operating temperature, it runns better. Have you tryied replacing the fuel dampener on the fuel rail? I still can't understand why is running like that. Btw my secondary air pump is still on the car and it runns like it should. I see you disabled yours and you also have the same problem.
Time for chain replacement?
Why do you think that?
@@SlowFord Stretched chain - timings bouncing around in the engine mechanically - constant attempts of the ecu to compensate this electronically which (attempts) appear chaotical? Just a thought, not a verdict.
i have brand new timing chain, timing chain guide, spark plugs wires and coilpacks new harness clips and still cant get rid of misfire for cylinders 5&7 any idea? 2001 5.4L m113 engine 170,000miles
@@larrydees3298 I would try swapping injectors (eg 4 to 5 and vice versa, then 6 to 7...), and examine / replace spark plugs. Try watching videos what spsrk plugs condition can tell about the situation with the cylinder. Good luck!
Hi,have you found the problem ?
Hi. Nope, nothing so far. I believe it may be the cats being to old and probably in some way clogged.
@@SlowFord it’s crazy…If you find something pls tell me.Thank you for your reply !
