I adore Daisy Edgar-Jones. She has been captivating in every role I’ve seen her in. She’s just so natural.
This is my first time seeing her in a movie. She's brilliant. I've been meaning to see Where the Crawdads Sing but haven't yet. I really need to. She's becoming a new fave already.
She seems like such a gentle soul. She's far more likeable than Helen Hunt

Yay!! I’m one of the few that liked there was no kiss at the end of the movie. Idk… I loved how their relationship grew in the movie and then just imagining it to continue to grow.
Team No Kiss here as well! They've known each other a week, she's got a lot of trauma to unpack, and trauma bonding is not a healthy start to a relationship. Normalize people taking their time to get to know each other before sucking each others faces off.
Glen powells story of his first tornado experience in the movie was based on his real life first experience, which was the infamous jarrell 1997 ef5 called the dead man walking tornado

She's good. Like a really good actor. The scene where she was saying in the moment when it mattered I got it wrong was phenomenal. I could feel her emotions like it was real
There was supposed to be a kiss between Glenn and Daisy at the airport at the end of this! Spielberg saw that cut of the movie and demanded that the kiss be taken out.
Good decision because it would make it too quick but we all know that they will kiss ... just not on screen
This movie basically pulled the same trick as the Alien franchise to make it good. Make the sequel have the same title, but this time it’s plural.

As someone who spent my childhood in Kansas this movie hit home because our town had storm that could cause as much damage as a tornado, though thankfully had one directly hit us. So I loved that as exciting as it is to chase storms they still showed how bad the aftermath is for people who lose their homes and even their lives.
And for people who never lived in tornado alley, no it’s not something they made up for the movie, it’s 100% true that you can learn to smell and even feel when storms are coming because of how much the air changes. It’s why I love the fact that not only was this movie shot on location in Oklahoma and throughout tornado alley, but most of the extras who were playing the amateur storm chasers were in fact real life storm chasers, who would leave the set whenever there was a tornado warning and the film crew needed to shut down the set for safety reasons.
Yeah, pre-tornado weather is eerily calm. Back in 2018, an outbreak happened while I was driving home from work. I luckily got home safe just before it touched down, but I still remember how scarily quiet it was and how electric the air was. The damage from the storm was so bad you wouldn't know a forest used to even be there.
They've since turned the area in a park but you can still tell a tornado came through from how some the trees are twisted.
Finally! Y'all are the first reactors that I have seen to get jumpscared by the chicken lmao! (I got spooked too lol)
Fun Fact: In the rodeo scenes, Glen Powell's parents are sitting behind him and Daisy and Maura Tierney (from ER; Liar, Liar) plays Kate's mom.
And the original mother from the first film is sitting beside him.
The town was also not Stillwater but Chickasha!

I rewatched the original one before watching this one. Loved the movie. The movie did not feel like filled with filler content. The buildup was great.
My siblings and I once drove across Kansas in a van while a tornado caught us by surprise. There were no deep ditches or buildings nearby to take cover. We just drove through, prayed and survived.
I liked that they didn't kiss. She may have faced her fears, but that doesn't make the trauma disappear. At the beginning of the movie, she still has flashes of her ex. So I saw this more as her first steps to healing.
this movie was quite the adrenaline rush, especially when they get up close and personal with the twisters
There’s a real life legendary Storm Chaser and UA-camr named Reed Timmer, only he has a REAL tornado intercept vehicle called THE DOMINATOR 3. And this one is better in every way than the custom Dodge Ram pickup Glenn Powells character used.
It was a Ford F-350 that went through a $750,000 transformation to become a moving fortress/scientific research vehicle. It has kevlar composite coating with 16 gauge steel all over the vehicle, polycarbonate shatter resistant windows, can withstand winds up to 200 miles per hour, weather monitoring equipment on top as well as rockets that are shot into the tornado to gather data, and most importantly it’s shaped like an aerodynamic shoe/tortoise shell that can be lowered down so that the winds can’t get under and flip the vehicle over and has spikes that drill into the ground to anchor it.
Put I’m guessing they didn’t go with that for the movie because they needed a budget and Dodge wanted to see as much of their Ram as possible unobstructed by armor.

and none of this detracts from the pleasure of watching the movie. Except it dees raise the question - How in the seven hells is that pickup stil road-worthy at the end of the movie? Now, if this was a Toyota Hilux, that would be understandable...
@@jakubfabisiak9810 yeah any random pick up truck wouldn't stand a chance going directly inside the tornado like they did in the movie. First of all, you would get seriously injured by broken wind shields and debris flying like missiles towards you.
I watched a react video with a couple of meteorologists and their immediate reaction to Kate explaining the science behind her experiment, before seeing what happens, was “hmm I don’t know about killing a tornado, if anything it seems like that would make it temporarily stronger.”
So at the beginning of the film when Dorothy starts reading increase elevation and wind speed immediately after they deploy the absorbent material, it’s possible that in an early draft of the film, her experiment DID make the tornado worse, making her even more responsible for her friends dying.
Maybe they thought that would be too much guilt to put on her and have us still like her, I guess, so they just dropped that thread?
So a little fun fact at the motel scene where there was a guy complaining to the motel manager, that guy who is complaining to the motel manager that is the late bill Paxson‘s son who made a cameo in the movie.
Gen Powell is also in Top Gun Maverick.
I love that they used Frankenstein in a theater as a call-back to 'The Shining' drivie in scene of the first movie!

I live in Oklahoma, and pretty much every newer house has a storm shelter now to prevent casualties from the tornadoes
I spent almost 14 years out in Oklahoma growing up, I only saw a tornado once. It wasn't even on the ground, it had been, but there was a couple acres of fields behind the apartments I lived in, with a forest and a river running through it. The tornado was mostly hidden by the trees from where I was. But as soon as it hit the river, it went back up into the clouds, over our apartments (you could see the debris flying over us, then touched down up on a hill, destroying a ton of businesses and homes up on that hill. That was the closest I had ever been to a tornado.
I really want to go storm chasing someday and actually see a full on tornado in person. I've always been obsessed with storms, ever since I was a toddler.
This film was fun and it's a shame you didn't get to see it on a big IMAX screen (I really wish I'd seen it in 4DX with the shaking seats, etc.) I'm old af and remember in 1974 living in north Alabama when about 10 tornadoes came through in one night during what they now call "The Storm of the Century". From April 3-4, 1974, there were 148 tornadoes across 13 states and even Ontario, Canada, with 30 of those being F4 or F5. Went through lots of other tornado warnings over multiple years but never got to see one. I had friends who went down in their basement during a warning and came up and their house was gone. I expect we'll see more of these and hurricanes as climate change marches on.

I think the El Reno town and the biggest tornado in the film is an Easter egg but idk
Because in 2013 I think El Reno got hit by the biggest tornado on record at 2.6 miles wide

27:36 I have a theory, maybe what Javi said is true. Kate shouldn't have had the idea to destroy the tornado. The goal of Javi and his 3 dead friends was to fly Dorothy and collect tornado data. However, it is possible that Kate also gave an idea of what if they could destroy the tornado at the same time. It's possible that Kate and Javi and their best friend Javi haven't been friends that long, but Kate and Javi have the same chemistry. that's why he mention that.
This movie was amazing. It will definitely age well. ❤❤❤
On April 29, 2022 I came face to face with a high end EF-3 tornado
Fun Fact on August 28, 1990 a violent F5 tornado Kendall and Will counties with 29 People dead and 350 injured with a 16.4 mile-long damage path from 600 yards to a half a mile in width
The rain wrapped tornado (rodeo) scene made me so mad in the theater! Like girl you can’t see it until 9/10 times it’s too late, that’s why they’re so dangerous!

I really do enjoy this soundtrack.
When I saw this in the theater, I was actually happy they didn't have the two of them kissing and madly in love after spending just 36 hours together in a working relationship..... and ended the movie with a more implied relationship having developed during the credits scenes. The survival instant love has just become such a Hollywood trope, that I think Spielberg made the right call on that one and had the kiss scene edited out. It's a case of people seriously needing to get to know one another personally to determine if they're right for one another on a relationship level.
I'm not thrilled that they went with the overcoming nature and saving the day with those few chemicals versus that massive tornado.... but we can't stop Hollywood from being Hollywood, now can we. Besides, it was better to end this fun film on a high note as opposed to complete devastation, so I do get why they went that route. At the end of the day it was a very fun movie..... and can we just realize that Javi basically left Scott directly in the path of this massive tornado when he took off on him, leaving him nowhere to go?
Not even Bill Paxton's character in the original was that cold-blooded (Bill was trying to help Jonas by telling him the unit needed to be weighed down, and by trying to get him out of the tornado's path ~ just sayin'). I'm really not a fan of Javi, even if he did come to Tyler's rescue at the very end, and finally started thinking of other people..... but when he essentially laid the blame on Kate for the deaths of their three friends.... he was done for good in my book. There's just no coming back from that, no matter how sincere his apology was.
I'm agreed the first part that you said about the kiss scene cut of the movie, however, I have to disagree on Javi, because look I'm not saying that he holier than thou, instead, he should just tell Kate the truth straight up, because the only person who know about it was Tyler, also, I'm wouldn't say that Javi was 'coldhearted' nor 'cold-blooded' that he left Scott on the road, cause keep it mind that he the one so worry about the damn tornado getting the data and don't care helping others who those are going to the shelters or who affected aftermath from it.
Now, not gonna lie, yes it's was f*cked up that he put the blame towards Kate what happened five years ago, but he not a saint either.
I feel like they left it open ended enough that if there’s a sequel, we may get an explanation that her experiment didn’t actually stop the tornado after all. Javi himself even gave a couple of other answers before saying “we’ll believe it was your experiment anyway”, basically.

I live 30 minutes from Lawton and they are indeed cloud seeding and it works!!! Also the main street that was tour up with motel where she drove through where the lights hang around is downtown Chickasha, 40 minutes from me. I got to see them filming it was neat!

look, i get why the kiss was cut, on some level i even respect it...but i love them and i wanted them to kiss lol. spielberg said that the movie was about kate's journey and not romance which, absolutely correct, but i also feel that she reached that fulfillment the moment she agreed to work with tyler and stop letting her trauma "take more from her"

I wish gal woulda mid act tracked down Helen Hunt as being a student of this career to ask her how she was able to keep propelling herself forward in her career towards tornadoes after losing her father. That woulda been a nice little cameo 3 minute heart felt moment to help her regain her confidence.

Ok so a Villain within the corporate team never mind. The Hillbillies are the right team the good guys. This scene is just like the drive in only it’s a Rodeo interesting. Also the small town was hit without warning interesting how they reversed these two scenes. In the original it was the drive in then the town.

This film was so disappointing. The VFX & the cinematography is great but the story is boring. Plus, Daisy Jones character is so unlikable & just boring af. They promoted the whole film around Glen Powell's Tyler Owen's and it ends up being about her character having mental health issues. I'm not trying to see that in a natural disaster film.
Conclusion - If you are famous and have Money Girls would find your obnoxious behavior and your pestering cute.
