HELL YES! I’ve been commenting about this movie since y’all watched the first one way back 😅👍 idc what anyone says as until Prey this was my favorite Predator movie! So stoked for this one, I hope you will at least find enjoyment out of it…I’m sure you will since you guys are like me, willing to go into something not to seek flaws but it’s entertainment factor first😉👌
Predator 2 was also my favorite over part 1. Loved the fact that got to see more Predator, their tech and our first look at the Xenomoroh skull! Which was meant as an Easter egg never meant to be anything more.
If I remember the story correctly, in order to prepare for this movie, Adrien Brody basically dropped himself alone in the rainforest they were filming in, in order to get into the role. He isolated himself, read military training manuals, ate an extremely strict diet, and put on about 25lbs of muscle, all to craft the character of Royce; to make him seem naturally intense and on edge. And man, he really stands out, probably one of my favorite characters and performances in the Predators universe.
Also worth noting that Brody was primarily known as a dramatic actor. Seeing him put this kind of an effort into action films at about the time superhero films were only just starting to get this kind of effort out of their stars...I feel like it should have been a bigger deal than it was at the time.
I never knew that! I’m gonna have to look that up, that’s so interesting! Method acting is so intense. He really was the absolute standout roll of this film so it paid off!
He looked like a stringy plucked chicken, especially with his beak😂. And he badly needed a pack of sore throat lozengers. Plus Danny Trejo and Oleg Taktarov characters died pretty pathetically considering how tough they are in real life. I will say though that I really liked Laurence Fishburnes character and it was a shame he did not get more screentime.

@@mrdavman13 becoming a bad blood comes in many ways of ignoring their code of honor, fighting dishonorable (killing innocents, unarmed, cloaking in a duel, killing other yautjas and more)
My favourite scene is the fight between the Yakuza and the bad blood (Falconer). Falconer is the only predator who followed it's code of conduct despite being a bad blood.
I got to meet Danny Trejo briefly at Scarefest back in 2016(ish?). He was rushing down a side hall we were in to an event he was running late for. I exclaimed "Danny Trejo!" and his face lit up. He still stopped for 30 seconds with a warm smile and handshakes, giving us well wishes to enjoy our time there, and he was gone again. He was my first celebrity meet and greet and he set a high bar for the rest.
The weird alien creature from the cage is actually an easter egg. It's the original design for the 1987 Predator film that was eventually rejected and made more humanoid. JCVD was signed on to play this version of the Predator, but quit when he realised his face would be covered for the whole film!
That, and the fact that the original design in action looked downright terrible in the dailies and McTiernan and Fox were not happy with it. Glad Stan Winston got involved and changed it completely to the iconic creature it is now.

If you wanna know what happened to Royce and Isabel after the movie ends, in the video game Predator: Hunting Grounds in the collectible audio files there is a debriefing of Isabel (and it’s the same actress Alice Braga) when she gets back to Earth on what happened before and after the events of the movie. Apparently before the next hunt began, they found the ship of the next squad of predators, but it was not cloaked, and the doors were open. Before Royce set foot on it, a bag was dropped from the trees in front of Royce, inside was a set of Predator armor and weapons, that were made to fit a human! Essentially an invitation from the Predators (likely the good ones) to join their clan as a *Human Predator*. Isabel knew that Royce loved hunting and killing more than anything, so he put on the armor and weapons, turned on the cloak, and disappeared into the forest. Leaving Isabel to use the ship to get back to Earth. I really recommend you look them up on UA-cam and react to them because also has Arnold Schwarzenegger himself in character as Dutch using audio diaries to say what happened to him after Predator and where he is now, and it’s absolutely amazing.
The scene with the dead soldier that you indicated might be a chest burster reference. That was actually an "homage" to the original Predator movie, where Blain was killed by the Predator's "Energy based" weapon that entered his back and came through his chest.
Criminally underrated movie, All-star cast including two academy award winners, 4 predators, new Alien species, lore and a predator claws vs a katana, and yet some people say that prey is better than this one , shame.
I mean they aren’t necessarily wrong, this and prey are my favorites of the films, I always felt this one was underated or I didn’t hear about it much ( I don’t remember if they saw prey yet so let’s not go into detail, just wanted to say I’m a fan of both films ❤)
No chest bursters...it's a reference to first movie with Jesse Ventura. Remember he gets laser blasted by predator. It's puts a huge hole in his chest. He was shot from behind so rib bones exploded forward
I'd seen this movie a few times before I spotted it, and I don't know how many others caught it. When we're introduced to Topher hanging by his parachute, he says he's got nothing to cut himself down with. Then when the Spetznaz finds that poisonous flower, he pulls out a scalpel kit to collect the poison. Yeah, it's not a field knife, but it would've gotten the job done. This is a hint that he's not what he appears to be.
The Predator: hunting ground game also continues Isabel's story (and Dutch) with the actors reprising their roles. In terms of canon, the films are hard canon, I'd say the game is secondary canon and the comic tertiary canon if not outright rendered non canon by the game. I haven't read the comic but Isabel isn't seen in it is she?
The creature used as bait with Topher Grace's character is actually a nod to the original design of the Predator. When Jean-Claude Van Damme was first cast as the Predator, this was the look they initially went with. However, during filming, both Van Damme and the design were scrapped. Kevin Peter Hall, known for Harry and the Hendersons, was brought in to play the Predator, and the iconic creature design we know today was created by Stan Winston. I'm a nerd.
Truly the most underrated predator film, 2nd or 3rd best for me. Btw the reason his chest is blown open is because of the predators plasma caster, like how Jessie Ventura died in the original.
This film is somewhat overlooked but I think it’s a really good one in the overall franchise. It has the spirit of the first film, especially with the recurring score and random comedic moments. Glad to see you guys reacting to this one!
The reveal that Topher is a serial killer and THAT'S why they chose him is still amazing. It almost makes sense that he's a doctor and THAT'S why they chose him for a combat unit, but then you get the reveal and you realize he's just as much of a predator as the others. He's just more quiet about it. Stealthier. This movie is honestly way too underrated. It's got characters you love to watch. The action is solid. The effects are good. And can I say that after watching The Pianist I would NOT have pegged Adrian Brody for "action star."
Adrian Brody won the Best Acting Oscar in the same year that Daniel Day Lewis was nominated. I think people ought to have believed in him a bit more when this movie was released.
@@mezmerized4lifejay654 I see Unfortunate that it doesn't look like it. A Xeno Queen jaw bone would have roughly fit in size, but not the teeth lenght either Eh...
I saw this about 8 yrs ago, but it was so much more fun watching it WITH u 2. It was interesting that you asked why they were fighting each other when they're the same species.... um look at us humans, non stop at war all over our planet. Loved this flick
If you pay attention to his character, when Royce has time to think he is self serving and tends to be willing to sacrifice others but when he has no time his instinct is to help the others
For a bit of context The three predators Beserker also known as Mr black or super black he was the one responsible for the kidnapping of the deadliest members of different species and he is one of the youngest yaujta to kill Xenomorph. Tracker also known as flusher he is the handler of the dogs which they flush out prey during the game “hunt” Falconer uses a bird like falcon to scout ahead to scout any prey They are bad bloods which mean they don’t follow the honor code. They will kill anything with overwhelm force and even though the prey don’t pose any threat. They are super predators which mean they are bigger, stronger, and more aggressive then the jungle hunter style type. They have a more streamlined head with swept back dreadlocks. They were in a blood feud with the jungle hunter style type for centuries it began with the nightstorm predator. An ancient predator who thought the honor code let prey far to more leeway and he united all super predators under his command. The planet they were on was the game preserve planet the bad bloods were sent there for a punishment because they broke the yaujta honor code.
@@exoterric yea I get the two mixed up sometimes but falconer isn’t a bad blood though because he fought yakuza in a fair match. But it says the trio was all bad bloods so I don’t know if he is a “bad blood”.
@@daedaedaboss335I forget where the statement is but I read somewhere that falconer was still quite young, around the same age as the trio from avp so he still had somewhat of an honor system left and was not corrupted by berserker or the others just yet
Ahhh it’s happening!!! This movie is a gem 💎 an underrated masterpiece!!! Fun fact: In the comics, you find out that Royce and Isabelle actually get together.
In the video game predator hunting grounds also explains their fate through audio logs and Isabella is a playable character Her and Royce eventually found a predator Landing station but Royce’s time on the planet changed him and he decided he wanted to go meet the predators, Isabella begged him not to but he left so sorry to say but they eventually broke up😢 Isabella made it back to earth and is now a member of the O.W.L.F. and now hunts predators, we still don’t know what happened to Royce but the game is getting future updates so maybe one day we’ll find out his fate The game also reveals what happened to Dutch after Predator
Fun fact: the ending was supposed to be different, when they walk into the clearing a ship was supposed to land with Dutch (Arnold) coming up to them and saying "do you want to do it for real now?" Thus following the original cannon where honored humans are allowed to join on hunts. This was scrapped due to issues with Arnold Schwarzenegger's availability.
This started out as the third Predator movie. Robert Rodriguez wrote the script for it back in the mid 1990's. But Fox wouldn't make the movie because they considered the script to be too expensive. Fifteen years later, the studio finally decided they wanted to do his script.
These Predators are Bad Bloods, they don't follow the code, they kill for fun and for power, to show they're the superior hunters because they aren't limited by pride and honor.
It's interesting that Laurence Fishburne did the 'Flight of the Valkyries', given that he was only 17 years old when he starred in Apocalypse Now. Also his character in Predators was in the Air Cavalry before getting dropped into the game reserve, and gives off the same nutty vibes as Marlon Brando's character Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now.
@@GreyDoofus88 duuuuuuuude! Never crossed my mind. That is one hell of an Easter Egg/homage/cross over and I never would have caught it myself. You're a high class nerd.
30:10 The tune that he’s singing is Ride of the Valkyries, made famous in the movie Apocalypse Now. A very young Lawrence Fishburne had a supporting role in that movie as Tyrone Miller, one of the soldiers on the boat with Martin Sheen’s character.
can we just admire how Adrien Brody got jacked and became an unrealized action hero. I would have to say this wasn't exactly the best action movie but it proves that this dude has more chops than people gave him credit for. Dude proclaimed he wasn't about to be pigeon hold to playing only soft or brooding dramatic and rom/com roles but can actually throw down if needed.
This was the first time we were introduced to another race of Predators. The so called Super Predators which are larger, tougher, and generally much more exaggerated than the well known variety.
As a veteran, i feel it's necessary to point out that dying with an ammo reserve is not tactically viable. There's a reason everyone carries a knife/bayonet/tomahawk.
The main Bad Blood Predator is called the Berserker Predator. The one with the flying drones that fought the guy with a sword in the field is a Falconer Predator, and the one with tusks in its helmet with the war dogs is the Tracker Predator.

Nobody's mentioned it yet, but you described the spike pit as like in that Tomb Raider game, you may notice that some of Lara's outfits in the 2013 game are in fact based on the Predator movies. Her Guerrilla outfit is Adrian Brody's from this movie, and her Hunter outfit is Arnie's from the first movie.
Underrated movie; probably not made for award winning, but it is still enjoyable. Thanks for bringing it to the channel ^^ *Proceeds to run for popcorn and brb*
The real name for the species of the predators is Yautja, and just found out there’s two new predator movies being made, badlands being based in the future and prey 2 which will be set during world war 2! There’s also a lot of references in this movie to the original in most of the scenes.
WW2 would be a fantastic setting, I've always thought WW2 would be a great setting for a vampire movie, mainly because any time I watch a modern day vampire movie I always wonder what they got up to during the war in Europe since it would have been a time where people were dying every day and so no one is going to call a death mysterious, WW2 would have been an all-you-can-eat/kill buffet for a vampire or predator. Really gonna look forward to Prey 2!

I’ve been super excited for more movies I don’t know about anybody else but I loved 2018 predator they weren’t going on strength anymore but smarts which makes sense because that’s pretty much how you defeat them in earlier films you had to outsmart them vs just using force. there is actually a comic telling the after story of Royce and Isabel if your interested. also when they found the traps with the army body and the predator was able to get past the traps to kill him it proves they have adapted to jungle traps since arnie's time.
This is very underrated movie. As a die hard predator 1 and 2 fan when this came out and i heard Adrien Brody is gonna be protagonist i was a bit sceptical but he badass with that automatic shotgun! I only wish danny trejo survived longer
What I really like about this movie is that the creators clearly truly loves this universe. Several parallells and callbacks to the original movie, very faithfull costume-design and outright telling us about the Yautja civil war that was started by Nightstorm.
Hi Ari and Denise, So happy I gotta see your reaction to predators finally :)) The Predator's names are tracker falconer and berserker!!! I remember coming home on my last day of school before the summer break and watching this movie. Don't remember what grade that was, but such a warm memory. It's sunny outside, I'm watching Adrien Brody beating the hell out of a predator, feeling good cause there are three months of freedom ahead of me.
Think practically or emotionally? To me, that was what was keeping Royce alive....his control of emotions. He wants to help. You can see his empathy shine in pockets of the movie. Hes a deep wound, ole Roycy boy.
The scene I like in this movie is when Edwin tells Royce that he is a good man, and Royce replies with regret that he is not a good man. This shows that Royce had done some bad things in his life that are unforgivable and couldn't take it back, and that he will never forgive himself.
Isabelle correctly guessed that he is black ops, that means doing things where if you get caught your government disavows any knowledge of you because you've been asked to do things that the geneva convention or human rights groups would frown upon. So he's likely killed a few union leaders or third world politicians, Jason Bourne stuff.
Just FYI, Derek Mears played the smaller Predator in this movie. He will be in Las Vegas, NV. on Jan. 17 to 19, 2025, in the "Days of the Dead" convention signing autographs and taking photos with fans. As well as dozens of other celebrities.
When you pointed to the back of your head when talking about the feeling of being watched, I couldn’t relate more. It’s like a pressure feeling at the base of your skull, it’s the wildest sensation.
My absolute favorite of the franchise but sadly underrated. So just know, if they follow the lore of the last video game Hunting Ground, (wich is canon) with this story, we can had back Arnold for a future sequel.
That part when they both said “If it bleeds you can kill it” part before they start to watch was a badass way to start the reaction 🔥 I’m a recent subscriber and every film you have all watched has been a classic and always cool to watch both of your reactions too
NICE! I watched this on DVD on my birthday with my parents when I went to Walmart and bought this! A sequel was considered and it was going to be "DIE HARD on a spaceship" where Royce and Isabelle as well as their human and alien counterparts fight off the Predators and hijack their space craft in order to make their way back to Earth, and when they arrive, they are shocked to learn that they been away from Earth for 200 years. Hicks from the ALIEN movies was going to have a cameo, asking for their help to fight the Xenomorph. Sadly it was cancelled due to the FOX/Disney merger. It would have been awesome to see.
The predator at theend is called Berserker and he was the youngest of his kind to ever kill a xenomorphs, also super-predators are soposably less strict about their code than the OGs.
ah yes, Predators!! i still don't understand the hate this movie got AND still gets, people still like to smash this movie to bits and i absolutely don't get it. every time i rewatch it i like it more and more, i love how every character is so despicable in their own ways, but they all play a part and get kinda redeemed by just being team players in this sick hunt. also, everyone complained about Adrien Brody, but hell nah he KILLED IT, he was a totally unexpected badass in this film and him alongside Isabelle became two of my favorite Predator protagonists :D thanks for watching it y'all, this was great as always!!
@@OfficialMediaKnights dude I only know him as a romcom actor! But Jesus jumping Christ his scrappy ass got skinny-swole for this movie and I am here for it.
In the comic *Predators: Preserve The Game,* a one-shot comic sequel to this movie, Royce and Isabelle survived for more than two months in the planet. They were fighting against all sorts of creatures including a four-armed Yautja mutant which they defeated. At some point the Predators 'awarded' Royce a set of Yautja hunting gear: cloaking device, biomask, armor, etc. At the end Royce managed to rigged a ship and sent Isabelle back to Earth while he stayed back in the planet, wanting to face the Predator overlords. Epic, bro.
You guys HAVE TO watch "Pandorum" if you haven't already, as fans of good spooky sci fi you will love it trust me!! 🥰 if you like Predators, Aliens, Event Horizon... Pandorum is another perfect and less known one
Glad to see more people discover how great this movie is. The set, sound and costume design are all phenomenal. The story may be simple but there is enough meat on the bone for the caliber of actors in the movie to elevate it. The original is still my fav but I think I have seen this one the most times. Whether watching it myself or watching reactions. Great video. Keep up the great work.
I got to attend the attend the red carpet premier and after party with the cast and crew of this film, in Austin in 2010. This was shot at and around Austin area at Robert Rodriguez's studios. As a lifelong fan of this franchise, it was a dream come true.
according to the comics, they end up sending a predator suit for Royce (Brody) to use and then release a genetically modified 4 armed predator to kill him, in the end, The girl ends up on a ship back to earth and Brody goes on a different ship to find the predator planet, this is because they were there for so long that Brody thinks he is not mentally fit to go back to earth
Easily my second favourite Predator film. This film kept the feel and gave us SO much more interesting lore and grew the threat and scope of things in a similar way to how *_Aliens_* did from the original *_Alien_* movie. While *_Prey_* & *_Predator 2_* were also really solid, I appreciate the way that this one did something REALLY different from the format and made all of its characters - who are objectively dangerous people who would likely be villains in any other movie - into memorable individuals that you care about whenever something happens to them, because you see those little moments of humanity in them... which makes the serial killer reveal even better in juxtaposition to teaming up with the normal Predator. That's always how I felt that the two different types of Predator behave: To the regular ones we're also potentially something to be honored for winning a hunt, whereas to the bigger ones, we're just something that they need to get better to kill. Essentially Predators just being all about the difference between hunters & murderers for the aliens AND the humans makes the title just perfect.
Another predator movie that was underrated. Like you say, its not going to win any awards but it was far from terrible, it just gave us more information on the predators and continued their legacy. Just as @Suthius85 says, these predators were bio-engineered, a rogue outfit, not part of the usual predator society. I don't have as much information as Suthius85, but im willing to bet that this outfit was seen as artificial, being genetically enhanced is not exactly honorable and an unfair advantage, it probably wouldnt have sat well with the predators as a whole. It makes sense that they would be in a small civil war i suppose. Anyway, really glad to be on the predator journey with you, its nice to see you enjoying them. Much love from the UK.
Exactly! This movie delivered exactly what it intended to deliver, a fun time. That adds a bit of context to why there would be conflict to begin with! Thank you for watching this with us. Sending all the love to the UK ❤️

Oh my God that is awesome I never thought of looking up to see what happened after this movie but that is exceptional lore
So how did she fly an alien ship back to earth.

Prey is better, but this is easily the next best after it and the OG.
@@afroahmed3989 IMO Prey is an equally good movie in general, but this one gets the chef's kiss for being so loyal to the style of the original.

I only recently discovered the Predator gurgle-click noise is Peter Cullen aka Optimus Prime!!
Underrated! Adrian Brody’s weird casting as a “badass” lead, but I thought it fit the offbeat casting of the original film.

Ahh right... good catch..
Never understood why this movie doesn't get more love.
I love that he was the ultimate predator of humans....a serial killer. Such a good twist.
Predators: Surviving Life is the sequel comic showing what happened to Royce and Isabelle.
@@valeria262 Isabelle is in it yes.
@donnyc99 does anything from the game contradict anything from the comic that you know of?
Underrated movie, the franchise exploring that planet was phenomenal.🤝🏼
It’s a cool concept and they kept the pace going! We thought it was a fun one 😄
I'm a nerd.
When I heard you say Eddie Brock, I was thinking "Tom Hardy isn't in this movie." Then simultaneously realizing, "ohhhh, she meant Eric Foreman" 😂
Spirit of the first??? No dude this movie just copy first one difference was +3 bad blood predator's
@@Pavel.Balevski u mad bro?
The reveal that Topher is a serial killer and THAT'S why they chose him is still amazing. It almost makes sense that he's a doctor and THAT'S why they chose him for a combat unit, but then you get the reveal and you realize he's just as much of a predator as the others. He's just more quiet about it. Stealthier. This movie is honestly way too underrated. It's got characters you love to watch. The action is solid. The effects are good. And can I say that after watching The Pianist I would NOT have pegged Adrian Brody for "action star."
Yeah, when all the other guys the Predators picked are beefy warriors & killers, you should probably be wary of the skinny quiet dude...
Adrian Brody won the Best Acting Oscar in the same year that Daniel Day Lewis was nominated. I think people ought to have believed in him a bit more when this movie was released.
Also the fact that it’s Topher Grace that played the role. Who would have suspected him to be a serial killer when he’s Eric from That 70’s Show?

The three predators
Beserker also known as Mr black or super black he was the one responsible for the kidnapping of the deadliest members of different species and he is one of the youngest yaujta to kill Xenomorph.
Tracker also known as flusher he is the handler of the dogs which they flush out prey during the game “hunt”
Falconer uses a bird like falcon to scout ahead to scout any prey
They are bad bloods which mean they don’t follow the honor code.

Her and Royce eventually found a predator Landing station but Royce’s time on the planet changed him and he decided he wanted to go meet the predators, Isabella begged him not to but he left so sorry to say but they eventually broke up😢
Isabella made it back to earth and is now a member of the O.W.L.F. and now hunts predators, we still don’t know what happened to Royce but the game is getting future updates so maybe one day we’ll find out his fate
The game also reveals what happened to Dutch after Predator
Fun fact: the ending was supposed to be different, when they walk into the clearing a ship was supposed to land with Dutch (Arnold) coming up to them and saying "do you want to do it for real now?" Thus following the original cannon where honored humans are allowed to join on hunts. This was scrapped due to issues with Arnold Schwarzenegger's availability.
I love that Brody nailed this movie, he was awesome in this! He almost sounds like Logan in X-Men and I never realized that until now. 😅

Yooo great choice of film and reaction. Much love to y'all🤙🏽
Another predator movie that was underrated.
