for anyone thinking of making this: do it! by far his best meal prep out so far. been making it weekly for a couple months now and haven’t gotten sick of it. You can sub the brussels for broccoli or ground beef to ground turkey. Doesn’t matter. Tastes great all the way around!
Just made this, the honey garlic chicken, and two of the oatmeal breakfast bakes to start off the new year. Took less than three hours total and the whole house smelled delicious. Even my picky 12 year old wanted to try it all. Thanks for the great food and inspiring all of us to prep.
Love your responses on "how long to microwave" "until hot" and "why not use glass containers" "don't like 'em" (and nor do I). I'll for sure try out this recipe. Thanks for the gram measurements!
Glass containers are just expensive. And then you buy a glass container kit or something and it comes in all different sizes like wtf I bought two 6 pack of microwavable Rubbermaid containers from walmart for like 7 bucks.
For microwaving, you can also microwave the rice first with a hole in the center (helps with the heat dispersion) then take it out and heat up the beef with the rice after. That way your rice wont be half warm while your beef is smoking hot. It also prevents your veggies from becoming absolute mush from overheating them.
This recipe IS a real winner, I've made it four times as of tonight. I like to double the recipe and split it into seven portions to last two weeks, since my lunch schedule varies. I also replace the poblano peppers with jalapeños (which is 4 jalapeños since I'm doubling the recipe) which gives a nice Asian level spice. Sprouts are kept in the oven 16 minutes. Takes about 1.5 hours for me since I'm cutting two pounds of brussels sprouts.
I did something like this for a while for meal prep that was on of my absolute favs. I did Korean bbq sauce with mushroom, onion, garlic, zucchini and red Chile flakes for heat as well. Saucy beef and rice dishes are awesome for meal prep because they taste great all week while say, chicken breast tastes completely different after a day in the fridge
@@deziking that’s why you only do it for 1 meal for 3-5 days. Ideally, you would also meal prep breakfast lunch and dinner. At the end you make something different for the week
This recipe is legit! I'm currently eating it and man I love this. I was a little worried that there wasn't enough sauce, especially given the corn starch, but holy crap was it good. the only thing I changed was using cholula instead of Franks hot sauce. I couldn't imagine adding more vinegar to Frank's. This recipe is fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone watching.
"I mean they're Brussel Sprouts, at best they're a 3 out of 10 anyway." Lol I used to think that too. It takes a bit of effort but you can get them to an 8. Air-fryer is spot on. Spray them with a cooking oil (50/50 extra virgin olive oil + water in a spray bottle works great, you want a flavorful oil), salt, white pepper, nutmeg and ground koriander (seeds). When properly roasted, toss in a nice coat of agave, serve with a dash of roasted paprika and roasted walnuts.
Made this for meal prep this week and it was DELICIOUS. I ended up adding more red pepper flakes and kept the poblano seeds in because we like extra spice. Loved it!
Just tried this recipe and it was FANTASTIC. Tried using ground turkey instead of beef and cut down on the apple vinegar and honey by a smidge. Had a great flavor and subtle heat to it. LOVED it.
Just made this tonight with a frozen veggie mix (broccoli, cauliflower, etc) since husband doesn’t like Brussels sprouts and it came out great and was so easy to make! I look forward to trying more of your recipes.

This is a fantastic recipe because of its adaptability. I substituted a bunch of stuff and it turned out well anyway. I used brown rice, japanese chilli flakes, 1/2 the meat, a different kind of hot sauce, slightly less honey, and regular white onion. Still was delish!
Just made this. So good!! I left out the red chilli flakes as I figured the hot sauce would give all the heat I needed, and I was right. Just enough to hang out on your tongue a bit, but not overwhelm. Very good!
With the small off chance that you haven't tried them, I personally love ikea's 365+ 34oz glass containers, I find they are perfect for me when I meal prep. I prefer the plastic lids with removable gasket with "snap-ons"(dunno what they're called) on the side, really like how securely they sit on there, the bamboo lids are trash on the other hand. But yeah, storing it in plastic containers while cold and transferring to a plate before heating is a good enough solution in the meanwhile, until you finally find those perfect glass containers, hope they show up for you one day.
I added 1 tablespoon of fish sauce to add a more beefy flavor to it, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce for more of an umami boost (wouldn’t say it’s as necessary because it’s such a strong flavor, will substitute for another tablespoon of fish sauce next time) and then salt to taste. Really good recipe btw, much appreciated for the work you put into it

Some tips for those who are looking to cut some calories out of this dish. Use half ground beef and half ground Turkey (reduces calories but still get the good taste of the beef), cook only half of the rice and substitute the rest with riced cauliflower ( you won’t even taste the difference). "I mean they're brussel sprouts. At their best they are 3/10 anyway." Bro you have to try maple(i use lakanto) siracha sprouts... so good. i toss them lightly with olive oil, hotsauce, pepper+salt, garlic/onion powder, spread them over parchment in a baking sheet, cook at 450F until just barely charred
Just made this today and it was delicious!! I used sriracha instead but it turned out amazing. Thank you for this incredible recipe and tutorial. Love your channel❤
Love the dish, if your still looking for glass meal-prep containers, I use the IKEA 365+ "rectangle glass food container (34oz)" with plastic air-lock lid (glass is pretty thick/heavy, oven safe, I take the plastic lid off when microwaving, however, you can choose from a variety of lids like silicon, bamboo, etc, just not all of them lock like the plastic does). They are only 6$ CAD ea (~4.50$ USD), and look very similar to the black 28oz containers you are using :). TBH any glass Tupperware set will usually have the size/shape your looking for, but, IKEA is nice that it lets you buy everything individually if you wish.
I just made this and it’s awesome! I accidentally used 85/15 so I added 100 cal to the total. I also decided it needed an extra half pound of brussels sprouts so I added 50 cal. I definitely suggesting using 90/10 because the 85/15 was a bit oily and if you were to drain it, you would lose out on those calories that are counting anyway.
Don’t often comment on vids but gotta say this is a fantastic meal - made it tonight for the first time and will be having this on rotation from now on. An absolute banger!!
Oh Im trying this for sure. Ill personally be substituting the franks for about 1, maybe 1.5 teaspoons of tabasco hot sauce. Just a personal preference in the kind of spicy I like. The vinegary bitterness of tabasco compliments honey quite nicely but is easy to over do.
Snapware makes a glass container that looks very similar in size and shape to the plastic ones used in this video, maybe the snapware are slightly larger. The lids are plastic with silicone seals. We use them every day they work well.
I would like to see more meal preps like the firecracker beef recipe. I will keep watching your videos if you can do the spicy beef asian style meals more. Thanks.
Regarding glass storage, I've also noticed that over time they don't stack very well, and will create micro shards of glass due to chipping from stacking in cupboards :/ Excited to try this recipe!

This is so good! I made it and added some other leftover veggies - some sliced red peppers and a few zucchini and it was so good! Thanks
I am new to the channel and I love the extra humor. " I don't know you wait til it's warm " 🤣🤣🤣 thumbs up video
Thank you 😎
Love that you list the weights as well. Best way to cook.
I'd already chosen this recipe for my lunches next week and was just going to use the written version on the website. Then you drop a 🔥 video to make my life easier - great stuff!
😎😎
This recipe is insane. its super super tasty and easy to make (as long as you buy cleaned and cut brussel sprouts). I have made this 3x already and its going to stay!
I'm making this one today! I've tried several of your prep recipes now and they have all been great.
I did a banana walnut version of your oatmeal bakes last week and it was really good. you should try it out!
Oooh that sounds awesome 👏
One of the best One meal prep recipes that I have ever seen. I will try this. Thanks
I started cooking chilli and finally learnt how to cook "from scratch". Can't wait to try this since it'll be my first spice blend and not using the ready made sachets.
dude I just made this and I'm shoveling this right into my mouth-parts as we speak. so good! thank you very much as always, you make the best simple/no fuss but great tasty-time meals, love your commitment to shoving veggies in everything (even if you don't like them - I love em!)
Man that looks tasty! I’ve always wanted to get into meal prepping, might have to give this a try. Great video, much love from Texas!
I appreciate your no nonsense presentation
"I mean they're brussel sprouts. At their best they are 3/10 anyway."
Bro you have to try maple(i use lakanto) siracha sprouts... so good.
i toss them lightly with olive oil, hotsauce, pepper+salt, garlic/onion powder, spread them over parchment in a baking sheet, cook at 450F until just barely charred
The clear and blue lid glass ikea containers are excellent.
I love your meal prep… but dude why do you hold the fork like that. 🤣
I love Brussel sprouts!! I really do I enjoy them and I love broccoli
Your shallow “skillet” gives me anxiety 😂
Lol I just got a new one with higher sides
@@TheMealPrepManual excellent recipes. Thanks
Totally agree regarding the glass containers
Just made this today and it was delicious!! I used sriracha instead but it turned out amazing. Thank you for this incredible recipe and tutorial. Love your channel❤
4:50 This comment is soooooo important on making meal prepping easier and more sustainable for anyone who struggles.
this is awesome. i substituted the rice with califlower rice and have the perfect meal prep for my cut. thanks man
I cooked this for my wife today. We both loved it! thanks
Josh.... I have followed and made several of your recipes. This one is the "BOMB" Keep them coming.
I made this, and holy, it is DELICIOUS. One of my favourite recipes now.
This video has just changed my life
Don’t often comment on vids but gotta say this is a fantastic meal - made it tonight for the first time and will be having this on rotation from now on. An absolute banger!!
I made it and it was really good. came to about 5$ per serving. I used bell peppers and i didn't have corn starch but it still came out amazing
I just made this ready for work this week and after tasting it out of the pan I’m so excited
This dish is delicious ❤ I added crystals hot sauce instead of franks. I also added red, yellow and orange peppers. Thank you
Finally someone who writes Fahrenheit AND Celcius!
Thanks.
Regarding glass storage, I've also noticed that over time they don't stack very well, and will create micro shards of glass due to chipping from stacking in cupboards :/
Excited to try this recipe!
