    First off nice video. Trashy parks are the common in upstate ny. I've had my nox 800 a week and have found everything from pulltabs to a diamond ring. My main concern was the fact you weren't wearing gloves and actually had glass in a hole. That could of ended the hunt for the day right there. The other thing that was noticed was you passed on targets. Only takes a few seconds to dig them. Your video showed exactly what to expect from a public park and what one could expect to find.

    Speaking of license plates, reminds me of when my daughter was playing around with a detector in the late 90'sand found one of the old long plates on a lake beach.

    It looks to me that the depth chart is way off. Looks like most of the coins are reading between 4-8" and they are about an inch or two. Your thoughts??

  • @petbytes7167
    @petbytes7167 3 роки тому

    The EQX 06 DD coil would be ideal for situations like a trashy park. I pulled out over 300 coins from a park that inexperienced and ill-equipped detectorists avoid due to the high amount of pull tabs, bottle caps, etc.

    Enjoyed watching. I took mine out on it's maiden voyage two days ago and hunted both days. It's was good call out what I thought was under your coil - Digging big holes for a 20, I would probably just perfect popping them out with a probe, but we've all done it. I was more worried you were going to stick your hand in a hole that had broken glass connected to a bottle cap. Gloves. :) I
    appreciate that you took time to video your hunt and post it. Thanks a bunch! Keep them coming....

    Man...that's some rich looking soil there! Nice and dark. The Nox is a great machine. I have been using an AT-Pro and an X-Terra 705 for the last 5 years. Bought a Nox 600 last week...first dug target was a silver quarter in a park I thought I had pounded with the other 2 machines. I have the smaller coil as well but have not tried it yet.

      Steve I have 5 extra coils for the 705. 2 of the CoilTek coils, the WOT 15" and the 6" Digger. The other 3 are Minelab coils made for the XTerra series. All at different frequencies.

    I started detecting 50 years ago with BFO and TR detectors. Quite a few years before clad coins.
    People are so lazy anymore, dig everything, you'll learn your tones and you will start recovering gold rings.
    Not preaching, videos put out good info but 4-6 hours of swinging your detector and trying different settings will get you in sync with what your detecting is picking up. HH

    That machine is impressive. I could watch you hunt with it all day long. Which means if I get one, I'd be AWOL 24/7. Thanks for showing us in detail what the equinox will do and how it works. Saw a video comparing it with the Deus and the AT pro and the 800 came out way ahead. If anyone would like the link to the comparison ( was really honestly done) let me know. Fyi, the AT pro failed miserably. Thanks again.

      Garnet Carmichael he was running the ATPro at 3 out of 8 bars of sensitivity. Not exactly fair. But yeah, I would hope the Equinox is a better machine. It would be embarrassing for Minelab if it wasn't.

    • @GarnetCarmichael

    • @danb7211
      @danb7211 6 років тому

      We need to move on. The ATPro came out in 2011 i believe. It's old tech. But why not be fair when doing comparisons. There's no need to skew the results, especially when the outcome is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

    • @GarnetCarmichael
      @GarnetCarmichael 6 років тому

      Dan B . I don't recollect any mention of level of sensitivity used on either machine. He only mentioned " settings out of the box" or " factory settings" I think we both envy the the capabilities, and if owned one, would have to start from scratch and rehunt everything we've hunted before. It's that good

    Cool. Honestly though, I think the 0-50 VDI on the NOX was a huge mistake. There aren't enough notches between common target types. I think I'd still rather use my AT PRO in a park full of pull tabs. :) Although if you were running with more tones it might make it easier to hear the difference between a square tab and a nickel, who knows. I know it's easy to hear with the pro. One coughs, one is smooth.

    • @aroundthecoast3334
      @aroundthecoast3334 6 років тому

      You’ll be leaving plenty behind then.

    • @MrBottlecapBill
      @MrBottlecapBill 6 років тому

      The NOX in an infested aluminum and bottle cap environment will be leaving a lot behind as well. Especially modern steel core clad and gold. You don't see anyone pulling that stuff up with this machine UNLESS they dig everything or get lucky in that one solid 13 zone(large rings). If you watch actual gold VDI testing on the NOX it's all over the place. It will certainly find it......but are you going to dig a solid 13 after finding 120 solid 13s that were square tabs in an hour? I might....lol. Most other people will not. With the AT pro you can eliminate about 80% of pull tabs based on sound alone........combined with VDI probably 95%. The NOX is a nice machines and I'm still going to get one because there are places it will certainly come in handy. The local park.........not one of those places unless I'm hunting silver or copper only.

    I don't have a nox yet. But, been watching a bunch of videos on it. When you get a good target but it jumps a bit, try switching over to 10hrz. now if it is still around the same id then its probably good if it jumps to a higher range then its probably junk. I will be experimenting with this when i get mine. ;-) . Keep the nox videos coming.

I can notch out those pulltabs with a golden umax I'm not knocking the machine but lets see some of the notching features of this unit. This is from the manual.
      Park 1 is optimized for modern coins and larger
      jewelery with a default discrimination pattern set
      to reject many common aluminum foil-like targets.
      Field 1 is for general hunting with high trash
      rejection. This assists in locating desired targets more
      easily. The default discrimination pattern is set to reject Target IDs 1
      and 2 (most coke signals).
      Looks like they are optimized for different types of detecting.

      Hi Gene. Yes, you can set them up that way, but even with a volume of “0” you still will hear ALOT of clicking when you go over the “0” volumes targets, I know because that’s how I setup my program today for a trashy park I hunt, and gave up after 1.5 hrs of digging 12/13 solid signals which were all square tabs/beaver tails. I’m not giving up on the Nox yet, but I’m thinking this is better suited for open field hunting versus trashy parks. We will see 😁

    • @DesignCutters
      @DesignCutters 6 років тому

      Lord Caswick seems like all parks around me also have so much trash the signals come like automatic weapon fire - makes it impossible to pinpoint with coil. FYI pieces of old tv antennas give great numbers/signals in the 30s. Trash signals just like good targets for me in park 2 default mode, multi.

    • @DirtFishing

      Zone 1 is -9 to 0 Zone 2 is 1-11 zone 3 is 12-13, zone 4 is 14-18, zone 5 is 19-40 I set zone 2 and 4 to a lower frequency and zones 3 and 5 to a higher one.

    • @johnroach1062
      @johnroach1062 6 років тому

      One way to set up if you still dig other numbers. Why wouldn't you just reject all but area for nickels and dime or penny up and set to fifty tones. This is like the E Trac trashy coin pattern. Just wondering what you think about that pattern? Thanks

    • @DirtFishing
      @DirtFishing  6 років тому

      You can do that and I have ran it that way. I didnt use 50 tones though. I will try that next. Yes it would be the same idea as the trashy park pattern and make for some quieter detecting for sure.

    Just got my 800 and am new to detecting. Do u only suggest turning off iron when in trashy areas or when it is ideal for that?

    • @DirtFishing
      @DirtFishing  5 років тому +3

      Since you said you were new to detecting I would disc out the iron until you get a good feel for the detector. If you are mainly coin hunting I would disc out the iron. relic hunting you could listen to it but in real trashy areas it can get overwhelming.

    • @DirtFishing
      @DirtFishing  6 років тому +1

      It is lighter than than the Etrac, it has more tone options, it is waterproof, cheaper, more programs, faster. Cons, it does not have the FE and CO numbers, no sunray probe, not much in the way of coil selection, yet. No option for auto sensitivity. Both seem to have around the same depth.

    If the trash is found between 13 and 21 why keep diggin those numbers. The keepers are all over 21 except gold. Why not take the machine to a non trashy old property and show us how it does without the trash. Im not interested in pull tabs and clad. However I have yet to see anyone with a nox dig a beer cap. Not a twist off, a hard beer cap. Im wondering why.

    • @DirtFishing

      I dont really have any old property to take it to. Most of my detecting is limited to public parks and schools. I have dug some some rusty beer caps. They hit about where a nickel does. 12-13. Sometimes they have a little iron sound sometimes not.

      I actually thought he was being way too careful by using a freaking screwdriver/garden scoop 🤣 Over here no one seems to give a shit as long its not their private home unless u have their permission. When I hunt I use a landscaping edge cutter to make large squares, and usually do my best to put everything back the way it was, but it does leave a few dirt marks. Considering this video was made it February in a few weeks in march the grass would have came out like nothing happen anyway. The only place where I think I would get fined for doing this would be beside a government building and thats a whole different story..

      If you want a machine that tells you exactly what your target is your gonna have to wait. And you may need a loan for it. I think Part of the fun of this game is being a detective and the unknown. If we all knew what it was the good stuff would be gone in short order. The person who works hard to understand signals and setups will dig. And they will be rewarded.
