  • If you’re concerned about an oxalate sensitivity problem or creating kidney stones from consuming too many high oxalate foods, we might need to ask are we wrong about oxalate sensitivity issues. If you're trying to figure out what are oxalates or what are oxalates in food, understanding oxalate crystals and how they can form renal stones and other troubles can be important.
Instead of searching for an oxalates food list or running for the hills in fear of calcium oxalate stoners or uric acid kidney stones, it can be helpful to understand how the kidneys work and issues that can restrict the kidneys from doing their job correctly. You may also need to understand mineral absorption when it comes to dealing with oxalate overload or oxalate sensitivity issues.

i like this video and i would love to see a conversation between you and Sally K Norton on this issue. the problem with what you're saying is that it doesn't address the problem of a body already loaded with oxalates. i've dumped enough oxalates to know the value of eating low-oxalate. however, what you're talking about could also be incredibly helpful in dealing with my situations. i certainly know i have liver/gallbladder issues. you also don't address things like Roundup and the lack of seasonality of our eating patterns. a main component of Roundup is oxalic acid, so if you're not eating organically or avoiding most plant foods you might be getting inundated with oxalates given that they're spraying that garbage on everything now and in increasing amounts cuz it no longer works as well. and the glyphosate in it is antibiotic--our guts don't stand a chance.

I agree with you!!! If there are only “oxalate sensitivity” (Sally kind of mocks people for saying that) in some people then why are there huge stone crystals coming out of my forehead??? It must be my over active imagination or something!! In my book the only people who think they don’t have an issue with oxalate are the ones who still want to eat their potatoes, Swiss chard, spinach and chocolate and won’t know until they are diagnosed with some awful disease when they are old!

The thing you have to understand with oxalates is they need minerals to survive. I grew up on a farm...and farmers know that if the soil doesn't have proper calcium, the plants will not grow and survive. Calcium is needed for the plants to uptake the nutrients from the soil, which is why oxalates bind to calcium. Since oxalates bind to minerals in the plants, you gotta ask, are we really getting minerals from any plant foods, or at least not what we think we are getting? Because oxalates bind to the minerals in the plants, are minerals really bio-available? Oxalates (and other plant anti-nutrients) are the plant defenses to survive. Oxalates are the worst of the plant defenses. Oxalates not only bind to calcium in the soil, but once we eat them, especially high oxalate foods, they rob calcium from our bodies, like our bones, teeth, our whole skeletal system. Oxalates will bind to any mineral, but they especially love calcium, magnesium, potassium. With all this plant eating that the FDA has pushed for years and years, you gotta wonder if this isn't partly the cause of 80% of the population being magnesium deficient.
Plant oxalates have been used in manufacturing for ages. They use oxalates to clean heavy machinery. And, Bar Keepers Friend is made from oxalates. That's why women who use Bar Keepers Friend a lot, without wearing gloves, end up with crippled looking fingers...oxalates. Considering oxalates under the microscope look like chards of glass, or like eating asbestos, I think you are missing the damage that oxalates can cause. The body cannot dissolve something that is like glass. I have personally felt a hard pointy object poking out of my top gum...and now know that lemon dissolves oxalates, which is exactly how I dissolve it, before it leads into a full fledge not fun hurting, until my body can rid itself of what it's trying to get rid of. I've talked to people who said they felt like they were walking on glass. Stopped eating all the beans they were eating and within days could walk normal again. I've also been told a daughter saw an oxalate piercing the skin of her mother's back, as she was wondering what she was feeling. All you have to do is search for pics of oxalates.
It's not just oxalate sensitivities, it's the fact the body cannot digest or dissolve oxalates. They are like chards of glass. Eye grit in the morning is oxalates. Tartar is oxalates. Our bodies cannot keep up with the over-abundance of high oxalate foods we are eating. Grains, alone, are a staple of the American diet, which are super high in oxalates, as well as gluten-free grains. There are studies done connecting oxalates to heart disease and cancers. Fibroids in the uterus and/or breasts of women are oxalates. I know that for a fact, when a friend, now a client, told me she was eating a whole bunch of celery (the whole thing wrapped with a rubberband) every day, for a looong time. She had uterine fibroids and the doctors wanted her to have a hysterectomy, but she kept putting them off. She saw a post I did on FB about oxalates and messaged me. I about died when I heard how much celery she was eating EVERY day, because of that darn Medical Medium and his celery juicing. She immediately stopped...and was feeling better within days.
I've eaten a CV diet for 4 1/2 yrs. Last year, 3 yrs into CV, at age 68, my allergies of 48yrs disappeared. About a month later I had a wicked oxalate dumping from my lungs. A little scary, but once on the other side, I felt amazing! Now I know my allergies were caused by oxalates storing in my lungs. When you eat an overabundance of oxalates, what your body can't get rid of, it stores them in your organs, or wherever your body can find to store them. And it will not release them until it feels it is safe, because releasing too many at once, as you can imagine, glass chards floating thru the bloodstream is a heart attack waiting to happen.
Just found your channel. You have some great information. If you do interviews, you should think about interviewing Sally Norton, maybe picking up her book "Toxic Superfoods," so you better understand oxalates. She has 58 pages of research notes. She has helped thousands of people finally realize why they are so sick...and got their life back.😊 BTW, did you know that over consumption of oxalates cause hiccups? In rat studies with oxalates, right before the rats died they had hiccups.

      Questions:
-are you eating vitamin A on your carnivore diet? (Liver, eggs, dairy, etc?)
      - can you eliminate waste three times daily?

    • @audreygregis8721
      @audreygregis8721 3 місяці тому +2

@@MissJemimaPuddleduck Yes, I eat eggs every day....several of them. I go thru about 15doz every month. Dairy is inflammatory for many people, and it puts weight on me faster than I can blink, so I rarely ever eat dairy. Lots of Carnivores have the same problem. Dairy was designed to grow that mammal. Once it's grown, there isn't a "need," rather it becomes addicting, because of the galactose (sugar) in dairy becomes addicting...just like the white stuff. If I do eat dairy, it might be goat cheese, which is similar to the protein size of human milk, but that is rare. Instead, I take magnesium, calcium, potassium powders in citrate form, as oxalates like binding to citrates. I do that to ward off oxalate dumping, from years of eating high oxalate foods. Liver capsules, if I muscle test I need it, but too many Carnivores become Vit A toxic, because of eating too much liver. Depends on the person! Eliminating 3 times a day???? NO Carnivore would do that, because eating a Carnivore diet, the body utilizes so much of what we eat, there is nothing to eliminate every day. Maybe 2-3 times per week, but even then it's very minimal what the body needs to eliminate.😊 When I ate a Paleo diet for 15yrs, yes, I had to eliminate at least twice a day...and I also had to drink copious amts of water, as well as take magnesium in various forms, just to stay regular. Now that I'm Carnivore, my colon has never been happier! Within TWO days...ALL of my gas issues disappeared.😊

There are studies proving oxalates cause cancers and heart disease....and lots of other health issues in the body. Totally agree with everything you’ve said! Going on a low oxalate diet won’t FIX your issues as much as some groups would make you think that that’s all it takes. I’m taking an HTMA test as I believe I have tissue calcification ( from high copper and heavy metals) and Candida. I’ve heard Candida can actually create Oxalates, as you mentioned. And my gut health is poor, I can identify with the bile issues, stomach acid issues, etc. It’s all connected! I think that some people think it’s a life sentence in dealing with Oxalates….and I don’t think that’s the case at all.

I really love your perspectives, and approach to everything you’re doing for digestive and gut health. You make it very clear, very simple and I can also tell you have a great sense of humor. Every time I hear you announce your book, “kick your fat in the nuts.” I just laugh out loud every time. 😂 can you talk about pooping like a champion. Lol I want to assume that you’re a Capricorn? But anyway seriously this is one of the more lighthearted, but clear and simple and logical approaches to oxalates I’ve ever heard because everyone else I’ve watched kind of has made me scared of oxalates. I do have some digestive stuff going on, I’m still not very clear what’s happening. I’ve developed food sensitivities everything besides meat and eggs. It’s the only thing my body seems to be able to appropriately improperly break down right now. I suspect I develop leaky gut, and some deficiencies with my absorption, I’ve lost weight I’ve had diarrhea for like eight months, and they just found a CDF infection, and they gave me antibiotics… I wish I could see someone like you in person. Because right now I am having a treat myself because I feel like these doctors don’t really know what they’re doing and they don’t know what they’re doing either. So right now I am just taking HCL with each mill, trying to make sure that I do have enough acid in my stomach and taking some oxy to make sure that the front and the back and are working while before I start working on the rest of it. I am considering an element diet to hopefully wipe out the Sebo once and for all, there’s there’s no doubt about it I I definitely have Sebo, I’m bloated like crazy, I’ve gone between either constipated or diarrhea, which has a very foul smell. It certain times I just feel like my food is literally not moving. I take colostrum in the morning, I drink bone broth before I add breakfast I take HCL with each meal just one bite into it. take digestive enzymes after I have finished my food and wait sometime afterwards until I take axle. And at night I am taking butyrate but before I have that I have homemade natural lemon and ginger water that I make. I don’t heat it up I just let it soak for about an hour or two I’m afraid to take any more antibiotics and I probably shouldn’t be but I am taking a probiotic because unfortunately, but honestly as a woman whatever is going on in my G.I. track is messing up my vaginal pH and when I don’t take the probiotics, I am left with a very strong scent that I have never dealt with before in my life and it’s chronic I can’t get rid of it. It’s not BV but I’ve noticed that when I start taking the probiotics, it goes away, and when I stay taking them, everything is just fine and regular but if I miss even a day or two of my probiotics, the smell comes right back

  • @BuggsSunny

    The video is misleading.
The body detoxifies substances through liver pathways, involving phase one and phase two pathways. Phase two pathways, specifically conjugation pathways, use chemicals like sulfur, glutathione, methylation, acetylation, and glucuronidation to bind toxins with compounds from the diet. This binding makes toxins safe for elimination through bile, either via the kidneys or the gut. Oxalate, however, lacks detoxification pathways like those for metals and other chemicals. The body doesn't possess the ability to naturally detoxify oxalate by conjugating it, unlike other substances. Conjugation makes toxins safer, but oxalate doesn't follow this process.

Yup! Massive Oxalate Issues. Poor stomach acid. Sludgy gallbladder. Stool often gree, which I’ve learned here means there’s no sizzle from low levels of stomach acid. I’ve assumed that if I eat a fatty meal, the Calcium in my diet/supplement is binding with the fat leaving oxalate free to accumulate in liver, causing more sludgy bile, etc. Sulphate peed out as it exchanges for the elevated oxalate levels, and detox is impaired.

Hi @Drew Lipinski and @Josh Koya, There are too many variables to have a clue how long it will take. I see clients see improvements after a couple days of using Beet Flow and I see clients who need to put in an lot more effort for months to really see improvement. One reason is that a person might have things going on that are thickening the bile even more while they're taking steps to try and improve it. so one thing that can help is to check out this video about things that can thicken up and make sure you're taking steps to improve or remove these mistakes: ua-cam.com/video/PjL-0HYGLYQ/v-deo.html
Also, when we hear about bile deficiency and the symptoms that go along with it, my view is that most of these people are actually making enough bile, it's just too thick and sticky to flow. This video explains that more: ua-cam.com/video/BX_pxI-GGc4/v-deo.html

Only time will tell who’s right on this topic but I’m putting my money on plants not being safe for human consumption. Tony, you are playing the what if game, so what if oxalate cause poor bile flow, or low stomach acid, I bet it does. I do know my cattle won't eat Rhubarb which is very high oxalate. My dog spits out Lettice which is very low in oxalate but he says it's the same color as spinach.

Could kidneys be taxed by other toxins that liver is stuggling with..like metals etc? I know its not ideal..but supplementing oxbile seems to help with kidney function ( improves gfr) could this adding bile be taking pressure off kidneys? Ps. Trying to improve own gall bladder function hasn't worked so far. Sensitive to tmg, beets etc

I just came over here from the video on how to get bile moving. You mentioned the beat green supplement there. I found out I don't do so good on beat greens, the hard way.
I had some beats growing in the garden late last fall. I didn't want the greens to go to waste so I was munching on them in September-October. One day I apparently ate too many. 7 leaves about the size of an average womans hand. Less than an hour later I knew something was wrong.
My problem has always been the opposite of diarrhea. After the beat green feast I could tell my guts were locking up. Over the next few days I literally almost died. It took a month to get 'normal' again.
I did a lot of thinking at that time. I couldn't do anything else. I'd eaten a smaller amount of greens about a month previous and was locked up for 2 days. I put it together. THE BEAT GREENS...
I also recalled a time at my moms house when she fried up some beat greens. I'd been curled up on the bed for two days after that. Didn't know why.
There's another odd parameter to this I won't get deep into regarding overfertilization and a potential potassium overdose.
Anyway I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Beet greens, and beets, are some of the highest oxalates foods. After eating a diet high in oxalates for a decade...my body was screaming at me. Honestly, I don't know how I didn't kill myself or land in the hospital. Once I went Carnivore, ditched all the veggies and morning blender protein shakes that I stuffed with greens and other high oxalate foods...my colon was never happier. In just 2 days, it was amazing. That was 4 1/2yrs ago....and I've never looked back. After 3yrs eating CV, my allergies of 48yrs disappeared. Plus, so many other benefits I've seen. I'd highly recommend Sally Norton's book she released this year, Toxic Superfoods, or watch any of her interviews on YT. There are eye-opening!

@@audreygregis8721 Thanks, but I was raised on a fairly high meat low veg diet. It was the sugar, grains, and antibiotics that did my guts in early, I'm quite sure.
I've done carnivore for long enough that I lost track. I've fasted for weeks at a time multiple times. Two times over fifty days. Even then, I needed enemas to kinda feel empty.
      My colon is still slow.
All meat all the time is not a cure for me. I'm getting more into fermented stuff. Got some cabbage stinking up the kitchen now. Maybe eventually I'll attempt fermented meat....

@@gmw3083 Hey, I totally get it. I just wanted to mention about the beet greens, in case you didn't know. I was raised on a farm, so meat was always the centerpiece of our meals. Unfortunately, we didn't know about oxalates back then, or I wouldn't have eaten all the bread I ate. Nor would I have eaten all the dairy that I loved...even years later trying raw cow and raw goat milk. Nope, can't do dairy. If I knew all this, I'd still have my tonsils/adenoids...and wouldn't have suffered with allergies for 48yrs. Dairy was not my friend. Bread was my #1 nemesis. And the period between 55-65 believing the lies about those supposed superfoods.🤦‍♀Watching what son#2 went thru, as we were learning about Celiac disease 20yrs ago, made a lasting impression. Then learning about oxalates at age 65, still makes me SMH.

Beets are so easy to grow. I never used to eat them, so the greens were a new experiment that didn't go well. I also like fermented beets better than cooked. So I really plan to learn to ferment everything. I'm developing a taste for high vinegar content. That's the shortest chain fatty acid that's readily available. Acetic acid that is...

Thanks so much for this video ! It is all so confusing indeed !
As far as I know, it’s not just about “kidney issues”, it’s that certain plant based foods like spinach, potatoes, sweet potatoes, kiwis etc., often also trigger really bad joint and muscle pain. And they happen to be said to be “high oxalate”. Although those foods are highly healing for the gut and in many other aspects.
So in short: when restoring stomach acid, our body won’t react as strongly anymore in many ways?
But for that, we need a wide variety of nutrients, right? And the so called “high ox foods” are part of it?
    Thank you! 🙏👍

How does CIRS play into this? With CIRS there is a genetic inability to complete the process of removing biotoxins from the body. They accumulate in the bile and keep reabsorbing.
