  • Strawberry ~Boxed cake mix Hack~ Better than a bakery cake!!!
    This cake is so delicious 😋
    I have tried it with Pillsbury and it seemed drier. This cake mix is hard to find so when you see it stock up.
    Walmart and Big lots usually sell it.
    Perfectly Moist Strawberry Supreme Cake Mix. Follow the directions on the box however replace the water with heavy whipping cream and add a cup of sour cream.
    1 large container or Strawberries adjust if making 1 box.
    Cut some Strawberries to go in the cake and icing add 1-2 table spoon of sugar and let refrigerator for 1 hour or over night. I don't like mines super sweet.
    When cooking your puree I added about 1/3 cup of sugar.
    I used a large steam table foil pan from Sam's club.
    When making your icing add how much you like. I don't like a lot if icing but my family does.

    Hello, you can save yourself a step on the puree. There is a trick I learned from my chef I didn't know this till she had tought me tricks.
    Its better to get frozen strawberries because its freshly picked in season, then fresh strawberries because there just hand picked whenever and may not have full devolved right.
    it won't be as juice and flavorful as frozen berries.
    So, use frozen strawberries 1 cup into a small sauce pan. Then 1/4 cup sugar let it simmer on medium high heat about 4-5 mins this will break down the strawberries and do the puree for you
    So,for every 1 cup do a 1/4 cup sugar.
    Skip the blender,unless you plan on dumping it straight into your cake.

      Also,be sure to watch it,just stir it occasionally and for bigger pieces it's ok to break it up with your cook utincle.
      You will see the strawberries naturally break down.
      You can also,do this with other frozen berries like blueberries,cherries and or mixed berries. You can obviously, do whatever cake you want. Doesn't have to be white. Lmao
      I just like experimenting with flavors and textures and for me I notice fruits and white cake go. Chocolate and cherries with whipped topping is amazing!
      But,you can do what you want.
      Also, to soften up a cake you can use either one of these:
      yogart
      pudding
      apple sauce
      sour cream or
      Mayonnaise
      Don't worry you can't taste them but,these things can help make cakes softer in taste. And key is to never over mix but just incorporate it.
      All these tricks my chef had tought us in school it really makes a huge difference.

    The trick with the mixing part is, mix like you would if it is a completely from scratch cake, egg whites first, fluffy them then add sugar and egg yellow part then the oil and butter, then a touch of vanilla and flavor extract, and finally the cake mix with the pudding if you are adding that.
    I absolutely love your strawberry purée!! 😍 and for the frosting, you can make your own using cream cheese and butter and sugar, and add a bit of that purée to the mixer. It would be basically completely homemade. 😄😉

    Quick tip! If you use your electric mixer to whip air into your canned frosting it makes it very fluffy... Then mix-in your fruit 🍓

    Do half a cup heavy whipping cream,2 cup of whole milk,1/4 cup butter milk and 1 16 oz tub of sour cream,strabwrrry extract (1tsp),you’re puree and the other ingredients plus 1/4 melted butter with the 1/2 cup oil.

    Want your cake to rise up double? Beat your eggs white stiff pics. Blend all other ingredients together with the yolks and blend in your meringue in , gently in 3 times , with a spatula . Another tips, for the frosting, it's to runny so here's a trick ,one cups of butter with 4 cups of icing sugar, one tsp of lemon extract, 1/2 tsp almond extract and one tbs of Vanilla and 2 tbs of strawberry reductions without sugar( 1 cup of frozen strawberry with the juice, cook it till it reduce half or a little more, must be like a paste ) I put the same in the cake batter , I put 1/2 c of strawberry reductions so I make 2 cups of strawberry reductions. Do this the day before with the frosting.

    I have also used freeze dried strawberries in my mix just to keep it from being to runny. They add a great flavor very intense. I buy the at Walmart in the dried fruit section. Give this a try in your next cake. This is a great recipe. By the way please do add some sour cream it make it so delicious.

      You will also need to cook about 10-15 minutes longer than the box says. Start with the box time and continue from there.

    When it comes to store bought cream cheese frosting. Duncan Hines is the one. It's so not worth it to get a generic brand or any other kind. There are just some things you can't cheat on. When it comes to store bought. If you can always make it yourself. A Duncan Hines cream cheese frosting is ok when it comes to carrot cake, when you don't make frosting. Anything else will completely ruin the cake. Trust me! She's got it right. I actually like pillsbury strawberry frosting versus any other brand strawberry.

    I was watching your cake and I like it. You did everything right. I saw that you put everything in but I only saw you used 1 1/3 cup of oil and it should have been 2/3 cup of oil to double when using 2 box mix. But I do commend you for making it. Great job trying!     You have to be careful not to over mix your cake batter. I would say no more than 3 minutes using electric mixers. If it still needs to be mixed lightly mix by hand after the 3 minutes.

      You can blend frozen strawberries with about 1/4 cup of sugar. You mix it in with your cake batter. You save some for your frosting. I hope this helps in the summer you can use fresh strawberries but frozen works just the same.

      City Girl
      Dense (bars) kind of cake is 1 box cake, 8 oz cream cheese softened, 3 eggs. After mixing, you can add anything you want, for the holidays we add 1.5c dried cranberries and 1 pkg white chocolate chips, anything you want 🤷‍♀️
      325°f 35-45 minutes, you'll want this slightly overdone.
      No bigger than a 9x13for the bars. These also make wonderful biscotti because it's so dense 🤩
      For a cake without added stuff;
      Lighter cake, 1cake mix, 8oz softened cream cheese, 3-5 eggs, 1c whole milk or 1/2 & 1/2, for a slightly denser, moister cake(bakery-ish) use 1/2 c sour cream & 1/2c heavy cream (unwhipped) the sour cream & heavy cream option makes for better layers of you wanted to stack.
      We never frost the first 'cake', the second, do whatever you like.
      The cream cheese really comes through in both, in the second cake, it comes through better with the sour cream.

      Great question and thanks so much for watching. I did ask her and it was a our cream. I'm so glad I added it ❤️ it's a special ingredient you can add in most cakes. Other people also commented who also add sour cream.

    So where’s the recipe? How much sugar did you put in strawberries? How many strawberries did you use? How big is your pan?

      I did old school so 1 table spoon for your strawberries after you chop them and let sit in the fridge for at least an hour. Doing so will create a syrup. I made a large cake which was a large foil pan from Sam's because I used two boxes of DH strawberry cake mix the Pillsbury does not taste the same. Now the strawberries I used a large container of course it would be half if you are only making one box.

      This cake is so delicious 😋
      I have tried it with Pillsbury and it seemed drier. This cake mix is hard to find so when you see it stock up.
      Walmart and Big lots usually sell it.
      Perfectly Moist Strawberry Supreme Cake Mix. Follow the directions on the box however replace the water with heavy whipping cream and add a cup of sour cream.
      1 large container or Strawberries adjust if making 1 box.
      Cut some Strawberries to go in the cake and icing add 1-2 table spoon of sugar and let refrigerator for 1 hour or over night. I don't like mines super sweet.
      When cooking your puree I added about 1/3 cup of sugar.
      I used a large steam table foil pan from Sam's club.
      When making your icing add how much you like. I don't like a lot if icing but my family does.

    And I forgot to tell you it will taste like it was made from scratch instead of what the cake box tell you change the recipe up just like you said your girlfriend cake taste good yours will too just keep practicing like I did I been hacking box cake for a long time

      I’m sorry I’m just getting back to you I was saying that the box I add jello pudding and one stick of butter and I use buttermilk Instead of vanilla pudding you will use a packet of strawberry for a strawberry cake
