  • Learn how to doctor up any cake mix to make it taste homemade, the basics of baking, and how to level a cake.
    Follow the recipe on the back of your cake mix box but swap out the water for milk, and add an extra egg. Some people like to swap out the oil for butter but I find the cake is more moist with oil.
    Get creative and try different ways to doctor your cake mix. Swap out the water with lots of different options of liquid like coffee for a chocolate cake or 7up or a variety of sodas for a white cake!
    I bake my cakes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit and check them at about 30 minutes in to see if they’re done. Smaller cakes could be done as soon as 20 minutes in.

    Instead of using flour to 'flour' the cake pan, hold aside a tablespoon of the dry cake mix! Works awesome!!!

    Wonderful tips. I will use them all.
    Milk, flour in pan, 2 cake mixes and more mixing of wet ingredients and less with dry ingredients. Plus sifting the cake mix. Genius !
    Can’t wait to impress my family and friends 🌞

    Great video! Very well done. Couple more tips ... for chocolate or red velvet cake use cocoa powder instead of flour to dust pan. Also, apple sauce instead of butter or oil. The cinnamon apple sauce it great in a spice cake 🎂😊💕

    Great tips, especially to sift your cake mix.

    • @lennybuttz2162
      @lennybuttz2162 4 дні тому

      You don't need to sift a box cake mix. They use cake flour which is a finer flour and it's sealed up inside a bag so it's not going to clump and if it is clumpy then it's really old and you shouldn't use it anyway.

    I loved this video and it is very informative! How long to mixed the wet ingredients before adding the dry cake mix?

    • @IcingOnTopBeckysCakes
      @IcingOnTopBeckysCakes  Рік тому +2

      Thank you! Just mix the wet ingredients until they’re all blended. So not long at all.

    I was interested in using one box mix and adding ingredients to make a double recipe with no additional sugar. I don’t know what or how much to add. I just wanted to cut down the amount of sugar per serving

    Great step by step video! How long do you recommend mixing the ingredients once you pour in the dry cake mix? Just worried about over mixing. Thanks!

    If you use cake strips, the tops will be level. No waste that way, and more even baking. Available from Wilton and on Amazon.

    Thought it was an extra egg, swap out water for milk, or cream or buttermilk. And swap out oil for double the amount of butter.

      There are so many many ways to doctor a cake mix. I’m just sharing my most basic method. Personally I don’t like the butter method because oil keeps a cake more moist some people use half butter half oil but yes there are many different methods.

    Uhm did you just wake up from 50 year coma? I was using these tricks since I was 12 and I learned them from my grandma. BTW I was 12 in 1972. Maybe in your next video you can invent the wheel.
