Being a romantic, I find it really difficult zo dress well for my body without looking too inappropriate. My family is really religious and showing skin is looked down upon..also I feel like some women appear distant and hateful whenever I do dress in a way that is flattering to my curves, making me just want to hide. Anyone else?
Literally! I could wear the exact same outfit my friends are wearing, but am seen as inappropriate or am doing too much & i am the one who's seen as a h*e , or am asking for it , simply bc i have a curvier body. But if i put on baggy clothes or anything that doesn't flatter my body , ppl say that i never put any type of effort in my outfits🤨. It's literally exhausting 😭. Oh & what said about women are being distant & hateful, I've experienced it too! Girl , it's pure jealousy! Our body type is seen as the ideal body type by men , with result of women being jealous & hateful , cause u attract all the mens attention without even trying/wanting too.
Same. In anything to oversized i look much bigger than i am. in tighter showy things i look super sexual. I alleviate by wearing a coat on top of my tighter things
I am soft dramatic and people tend to think that I am not nice because how I look and get surprised when they talk to me. I have heard many times things like "look!" "You're nice" "you are intimidating"... 😅 I have learned to have fun with those reactions and to ignore if other girls look at me like you said, I recommend you to do the same, you just look for clothes that you like and feel comfortable with, the rest doesn't matter.
I absolutely adore this. 😍 As a short, small chested hourglass (not a true pear, as my shoulders balance my hips) I have always seen fashion advice that tells me how to de-emphasize my hips. There is usually no respect given to individual body types and everyone is instead told how to appear long, lean, and straight. I have always ignored that advice and dressed in the form fitting clothing that flatters my own shape.
This is exactly me, right down to the smaller chest! I thought I was a pear my whole life until I saw a photo of myself from behind and my shoulders perfectly matched up with my hips. GO us!
@@giffiengo5729 I used to think I was a pear too. Most people don't realize that it's the shoulders and not the breasts that give balance to the hourglass shape. I did the same thing with seeing myself from behind when I was looking at photos to check the fit of my corset.
i’m 5’9 and SUPER curvy (my waist and hips have a 17” difference) and i’ve come to find that low or mid rise jeans actually show off my curves way better (and are easier to fit lol) !! i used to wonder why i looked so square/boxy in clothes even tho i have such intense curves, but then i realized that my jeans going all the way up to my natural waist didn’t accentuate it at all and instead made it look bigger by accentuating my ribcage instead. i’d say definitely try as many jeans styles as u can!! for me, a low rise boot cut balances out and accentuates my hips amazingly and a mid rise straight leg/sturdier jean gives a more relaxed look while still making my waist look as small as it is. finding the perfect top length:pants rise ratio for ur proportions is life changing
Exactly - high rise creates a line exactly where there shouldn't be a line. Lines create width. I have never understood why hourglass guides always claim high rise is the most flattering. Also, if you look at outfits with low rise jeans, you'll see the outfits show off the curves more (assuming the top is fitted). Keeping the same color throughout the abdomen lets the eyes notice the curves of the waist easier.
Thoroughly agreed with the low rise jeans! Although most of my jeans are either high rise or mid rise since they are more popular and easier to find these days, I feel like low rise jeans with a cropped top that shows off the waist works perfect for me 🤩
@@julieme7927 this!! I am 6’1 but I actually have short legs and all my “length” is torso. High rise pants are so much better on me because they make my legs look longer and balance my height
@@julieme7927 most of my height is in my torso, my legs are fairly short (they are about average length, so a bit short for my height). i’ve noticed i have to size up a lot in low rise jeans for the proper fit since they tend to be designed for straighter hips and butt (i’m an 8 in high rise jeans and a 12 in low rise) but since i don’t mind the number it’s worth it to me! maybe try sizing up a bit if u like the style. if u don’t, ignore me of course lol
Would love a video on slightly conservative clothes that would suit this body type! Honestly struggling to find clothes that are flattering but don't make me feel like I'm dressing for the male gaze
I feel your struggle. I've found that long blazers along with tight pants or top help. The blazer covers my thighs and the tight fitting cloths underneath don't make me look over weight. If I want to go for an even more modest look, I'll pair: blazer + loose top + tight pants OR blazer + tight top + loose pants. Midi a-line skirts look flattering and can cover up curves as well (make sure the material is thin so it doesn't look bulky).
I love that you actually explain what we’re looking at. Also thank you bc I’ve really struggled being okay w my hourglass physique. I always felt fat & unhappy w myself even when I was very lean. Bc I would wear all the wrong clothes that would add 20-30 lbs to my physique. Your video is teaching me to embrace my curves, and love the physique I naturally have.
This is so true. I always feel a bit fat even though I don't weigh much. The skinny leg shape always looks so much nicer for me (because they can wear shirts that's over sized and look mega skinny ☺️ but I want to try and embrace my curves and smal middle more.
I feel like a very important caveat to this video is that these rules only apply to hourglass women who want to show off their curves. As someone who prefers a more masculine/androgynous look, I want to look more straight and angular so I often follow the opposite if these style “rules”
This is super informative - you can see how the more boxy items make you look younger/almost awkward because they are too overpowering. The rounded shapes meanwhile make you look elegant, polished, and mature. Still youthful obviously, but with a greater shine.
This was really helpful! I love how comfortable looser clothes can be, but as a soft dramatic I usually feel sloppy in them. I do struggle with finding casual clothes that fit my body type. I would look out of place wearing trousers and a blazer at my workplace, but a t-shirt and leggings feels too casual and doesn't flatter me very well. I'd love some advice for this struggle of wanting to feel put together but not over dressed :) thanks!!
Maybe wrap tops? Those are about as casual as T-Shirts, but show off curves better. I personally like to wear more casual dresses that are cinched at the waist.
I am soft dramatic too and I like to wear looser clothes with a cinched waist. High waisted skirts, mom jeans wide leg or boot cut jeans with a shirt or blouse tucked in work really well, as well as loose dresses with a belted or cinched waist. I also like lightweight, colourful harem pants and palazzo pants with a high waist for when it's hot. For tops, flowy blouses, wrap tops and peplum tops work great but t-shirts with slightly lower necklines and soft flowy fabric work well too. I think looser are totally fine on soft dramatics as long as you define the waist and keep the fabrics flowy and soft. My absolute go to is a high waisted pair of pants and a soft sweater or blouse tucked in
My casual go to as a soft dramatic is a large baggy tee that is down to my ass, and leggings. Sometimes I’ll knot the shirt on the side. But I make sure the shirt is long bc it shows off our lines. Should be to your thighs. The crop tee and leggings thing is not for us !
As a 5'2, E-cup woman, it's always felt like a hit-and-a-miss finding clothes to suit me. I knew that boxy, floaty, or high-necked styles inevitably drown me and make me look stocky, whilst pastel colours drain the very life out of me. But I never understood why...until I found this channel! I think I'm probably a Romantic or Theatrical Romantic but I'll definitely use the tips in this video!
this is so great!!🤩This past year I've really understood just how important it is to dress for my shape. As an hourglass with very wide hips, I've had so much trouble esp finding pants and bottoms that don't make me look super wide. Also came to realize I'm attracted to boyish/oversize styles but it's SO unflattering to my frame & I get lost in those clothes. Thanks a lot for the tips and plz keep them coming!❤
I just found your channel and you know your stuff! I'm a soft gamine and everything you saying makes sense on to why I love a high neck and I need curve accommodation and petite accommodation. I can have some softness, but I need some sharpness too plus must have some contrast! Great video 🙂
I have never heard anyone describe themselves as a "soft gamine", specifically. But I appreciate the verbiage! I think it is well suited for language used to describe a specific aesthetic and style. I particularly like it.
I have a true hourglass, I have a pretty large chest, small waist and round hips. I resent the idea that 'to look good' I have to show that off. I know this isn't what your video is about but I've never, not once, really wanted to empashize my curves, No deep meaning or reason but I just love oversize things. Are they the things that make me look the thinnest? Nope but I have a rule of thumb with clothes... if I put them on and I love the way I feel and look in it enough to do a little dance? That's what I am wearing and not once has that involved 'showing off my curves' which I feel is just such a HARD FAST rulñe for curvy women. In the end you're going to shine most in whatever feels good to you.
You’ve been doing a great job with your channel! I hope to see more. 😊 Topic requests: 😇 - identifying your body type (maybe explain how to do using old photos?) -professional outfits for romantic body type (that navy velvet jacket!) - casual outfits for romantic body type (without cleavage) - what to do about VERY “yin” arms (those cute little puff sleeves with the elastic are always way too tight!)
Great content ! Something to add though ✨️ To consider when having curves ; consider the vertical ratios as well ! High waisted jeans don't fit me even though I have defined curves because I have a short torso :) low waisted jeans actually fit me just right, leaving enough space so it doesn't look I have boobs on shelves 😂
Me too. It’s so hard to find low waisted jeans though. I literally have one pair of shorts I’ve had since high school 10 years ago that are actually low waisted
@@danyg1400 I’m not saying it’s the same as fat, I know some people do that, but what I mean is she doesn’t really have to accommodate curve. She can wear any top even without a bra because her breast are not that big. She can wear any skirt cause her butt isn’t big enough that it would make the skirt dangerous to wear. Her thighs are not that thick that she couldn’t wear a short dress without it riding up. Those are the things that to me mean to be curvy. She has a bit of something something but it isn’t really a thing she has to keep in mind when choosing clothes or defining her style. For example a very curvy girl has to consider that if she wears a certain top it will look way too sexy when she isn’t trying to. This isn’t really the case here. Hope I cleared that up.
Very helpful video, but if I may add a suggestion, a lot of hourglass women tend to have tummies, have big thighs and big boobs etc. We know we look good when we're dressing fancy, however It makes it harder to dress in a more flattering (and 'appropriate') way for multiple scenarios - casual, business etc. A vid on that would be really helpful, and if possible it would be good to see it on a model who has a heavier frame, although as you said romantic type is not weight specific
so much yes. I find I always look dressy and struggle to find good casual styles. I really struggled when going through teachers' training because I had to find clothes that looked good on me but were not too short or low-cut.
You are young and beautiful and look great in everything! But i do love the edge that the "before" outfits give you. They also make you look younger, which is not a big deal at the moment, but may be a concept to explore in a couple decades 😉 (as spoken from experience)
As someone who struggles to find my Kibbe, I really appreciate your videos! I’ve always been short, soft and fleshy, but I have a thick waist and not much of a bum or hips. Someday I’ll find my style!
This was really well done! I love a good striped mariner and I’m drawn to boxier silhouettes but I often feel my outfits look a bit off. This makes a lot of sense, some great ideas to try
Where have you been all my life!? I’m 43 and have learned to see so I can make my own clothes! Every pair of pants has a gap at the waist and tight at the bum (even the more recent “curvy” lines. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
i can tell you enjoyed making this video and i love how your facial expressions varied; you look more happy and relaxed in clothes that were better suited for you! so true
Could you do a video for hourglass friendly styles for each Kibbe type? A lot of soft gamine rules are different than just hourglass rules, so it’d be cool to see a video tailoring this to each type
Romantic 5’3” here, I’m still new to kibbe so take my words with a grain of salt lol - but the one thing I feel doesn’t really work for me is the mom jeans because my arms and legs are already very balanced length wise, so when I wear very high waisted pants with a shorter top it seems like that balance is thrown off and my legs suddenly look too long for my body and my torso now looks too short. I feel like mid rise honors the already proportionate nature of my limbs…. Thoughts, anyone?
As someone who is petite you have to be careful with high waist because if it actually goes beyond your waist because they are made for someone longer this will not look right at all! :)
I recommend the channel "petite dressing", after I saw her videos, everything made perfect sense suddenly. I am small and curvy myself and lots of the tips do not apply, or do apply differently when you are petite (e.g. high rise jeans are too high and wide belts are too wide).
Yes I love the Petite Dressing channel. That was where I saw suggestion about really thinking on which height of pants waist looks best on you and it helped me. I think my torso woukd be considered shortlike where the waist curves. Below that is my belly button and belly button is about where probably my most flattering pants/skirt waist goes.
Omg I follow you in tiktok. So glad I found your UA-cam Channel. I much prefer this Plattform, since it allows more in depth videos and love the community more.
I'm very hourglassy (idk my kibbe type but think long limbs and broad shoulders with DD cups and an ass to match) and my main struggle is professional/work dressing. I either look too frumpy or end up veering into too sexy, which is a struggle especially as I still sometimes pass as a teenager! If you haven't already a video on non-sexy options for gals with T and A that would be amazing.
I feel your pain! What I find works best is fit and flare styles. It doesn't have to flare too much but a soft fabric for a skirt that flows through the hips (vs pencil skirts) works well. V necks that aren't too low. For pants flared trousers work better than skinny styles. I also find fabric types helps with sexy vs professional too. Lace or sheer fabrics will lean sexy, and cotton/linen will be more professional.
What about simple and modest pieces with softer fabric types that are form-fitting in just the right amount without clinging to the body? Dear Peachie has this really great video about masculine and feminine aesthetics and what specific elements you can manipulate to lean more towards one direction or the other, so I'm thinking of trying to soften the look in a more subdued way and using the elements that lean the least directly towards sexiness. Subdued flower prints, maybe? Especially smaller patterns, I think, but not too small so you don't look too young. Lighter tones rather than dark. Just trying to share what works for me in a similar situation, except I'm also petite, so I really do understand the underage looking face concern hahah. :)
Being 5'10-ish and fairly curvy 40-31-41, I found this video very interesting. I'm having a hard time placing myself on Kiddes scala. I find myself trying to play down my curves most of the time, so I don't feel like it looks vulgar. If I wear a dress like the one you do (and you look beautiful in it!), I would feel exposed.
Im a bit confused I don’t know if it’s a cultural difference but she isn’t what I would consider curvy… she looks very slim to me idk how these body types works. According to this scale I am very curvy but in my country everyone says in so skinny… I wish she would explain that a bit better 😭
I find mid rise jeans work best for me, Mid rise just rises up over the hips. High waist makes me look like I have a very short torso and even longer legs. Yes soft , light material works best for me , oh yes A-symmetry and the flared bottoms look amazing on me . Although I still look great in a bodycon but I can really see a dress or trousers are levelled up by flare/trumpet/frill/ruffles on the end . This has made me feel excited and motivated to find a new dress and one of those fluffy wrap jumpers x
Thank you, Body and Style! This was a great video for me as a dramatic classic, even though you emphasized more yin types. I am slightly tall (5’7”) and on the slim side (American size 2 or 4, depending on the brand/cut), but I still have an hourglass shape (36-27-37). I have known since I was a teenager that I CANNOT wear baggy/boxy clothes. I need a fitted top and/or waist emphasis. Other than that, I struggled well into adulthood to dress my body. My mother is a petite, cute gamine with a very youthful gamine essence (think Twiggy). As with many daughters, I grew up emulating her style, and I looked awkward and terrible. Learning about my proportions and sharp/soft balance with the Kibbe body typing, and now learning more about my essence (classic mixed with ethereal) from this UA-cam channel, have really helped me understand and accept myself the way that God made me. It’s a cliche, but we all truly are beautiful in our own way.
because i am fairly big chested for my frame (cc/d and 4'10) and my shoulders and hips are the same exact width, i always find it super hard not to look boxy whenever i wear not slim fitting clothes and it looks like i don't have waist definition when i actually do. i think i'm a romantic and most of your tips could work for me. thank you!!!
I wanna cry right now. All these years I've dressed in straight and relaxed lines thinking I don't need curve accommodation just because I'm skinny. No wonder they always dragged me down. Thanks so much for the insightful video!
Yes! But the unique thing about the kibbe theory is that the looks that look contemporary on her may look effortless chic on a flamboyant natural for example. It’s not really “wrong Vs right” but more so the effect that an outfit gives YOU based on what YOU look like. This can help figure out how to intentionally dress to pull off a vibe - the ones that are flattering on her in this video seem to be because she wants to have a feminine vibe by showing off her soft curves 😊
Want so much more info, I don’t even j ow what to ask but I’ve always wondered if I was missing something when picking out styles/clothes. Especially when I gained weight , I felt so out of touch of what look goods on my body. Looking forward to more content! Thank you, you are wonderful and so easy to listen to!
hi ellie-jean!! i would love more videos like this- helpful body styling tips that aren't so heavily kibbe! obviously kibbe goes into more detail but for some people, it is confusing and intimidating enough to steer them away, and the consultations, though i understand your pricing, aren't as accessible!
I'm a soft dramatic and the current oversized trend makes me feel horribly dumpy and I've always felt more comfortable in curve accomodating, more adjusted clothing. Thank you for these tips!
So helpful, loved this video! Do you have any ideas for more modest looser fitting outfits for a romantic kibbe? Really struggling with this as I don't like to wear the more fitted styles all the time, even though they are much easier to style!
I'm a classic kibbe with romantic essence and this video is probably the most helpful thing ever happen to me. Because i don't look good in sleek classic and minimal clothes. I need some prints, textures, sexiness and softness. But on the other hand I am not a soft classic nor romantic or theatrical romantic which driven me crazy. So it turned out i have romantic essence. NOW I'TS TIME FOR SHOPPING I'M SO HAPPY !! :)))
I was anticipating this video! And it's finally here! Yay! Unfortunately, a lot of these tips don't work for me. You see, I have a big bust (DD) and a short torso (with equally wide hips.) When wearing crop tops with high waisted jeans, I become a bust with legs. Lol! I feel as if I am forced to wear dresses or one-color outfit for all eternity? Any tips or tricks?
i actually think low rise works better than high rise for an hourglass body, make sure it’s actually low rise and not mid rise because otherwise it looks awkward and pair it with a long tight top and it reallllly accommodates the hourglass shape, with high rise it often makes you look boxy as the waist looks the same width as the hips but low rise really shows the difference between the waist and hips especially with a tight top that’s long and really shows the smaller waist!!
Thank you for I video full of examples and information. I’m looking to find the right clothes for me and you have been so helpful!! Glad I found your channel.❤️🌷🌞
Hi!! I've heard you talk on Tik Tok about seasons and colors and how they affect your appearance. Could you make a video explaining how they work and how to recognize them?
I totally see the difference and agree your body looks better in the outfits that flatter your figure. I have a true athletic hourbody figure myself. However, I HATE everything you suggested would be flattering. I HATE ruffles, empire waist, belted dresses, small patterns, fitted blazers, all of it. I will be much happier wearing my striped tops and boxy blazers and oversized fits.
Thanks for mentioning the neckline. Deep Vs work really well on me, as I think they do most hourglass body types. They also seem to de-emphasize an aging neckline as the eye is drawn to the V not to the neck. I can't do the ruffles and puffed sleeves but they look lovely on Ellie-Jean...I will probably never fully understand the Kibbe system but I think the Introduction to Kibbe body type system article I found online is easier to understand than the actual test which can also be found online.
Hi, I really like your style roots theory. I feel like I am very much stone, I love simple, comfortable clothes, a little sporty-outdoorsy silhouette. I absolutly hate blazers, I look horrible in them. Maybe you could make a video on how to dress for work/job interview/formal ocasion for people who hate blazers and look bad in them? For example work outfits for each style root. That could be such a great series of videos. Wedding attire for each root, romantic look for each look etc. I feel like me being a stone, I struggle a lot with what to wear for dates, business ocasions, weddings, christmas dinner etc.
While the tips are great for TR and R types, I have to be honest... you look better in most yang/non-recommended outfits! Kibbe always says that we look at ourselves through really subjective eyes and I can definitely see it here. I'd say the matte, clean cut jacket was your best outfit! It looked very classy and neat on you, you wore that outfit instead of the outfit wearing you like with some other clothes. I think you have a lot more yang than you think and you should show it off! So yeah, the tips are great for yin types but not really for you/classic types.
I stopped there and make my thoughts too, but dont think the same .. I think the depth from the dark velvet is too much and stands out 🤔 but the softness is very nice for her
I completely agree.. the matte blazer looks waayyy better. The velvet made her look cheap.. everything she didn't like made her look much more refined and expensive.
I think the blue dress is definitily not designed to be worn with a belt no matter what body type you are. Therefore it simply does not work with a belt. A belt would look good on a shirt dress- which has a completely different cut.
I clicked because I have a small rib cage and wide hips. I’m an FG so most of these don’t really work on me. It’s really tricky because wearing baggy/boxy stuff seams like a missed opportunity to highlight my figure but rounded, soft stuff is a no-go either. Edit: I got typed and I’m actually a short FN or N.
You seem to have identified your own yin/yang balance in your body, so you're most of the way there! If your lower body is more yin, you can go for rounder pants, softer (but not loose) trousers... and still go for straighter, more tailored pieces on your upper body - FG is all about contrast so have fun with it!
Thank you so much for your videos, I'm learning a lot and now I know why I've always hated how my style looks on me I'm a theatrical romantic true summer who LOVES edgy and angular clothes and autumn colours (lucky me, I guess), so now I'm trying to find a balance between my taste and what nature gave me Being more educated on the subject really helps, thank you!
Thank you for another lovely and informative video! Could you tell me where to buy the white peplum top? Also, to echo comments others have made, I would love to see a video about dressing this body type in a more modest way that still honors the shape. Of course what modest vs. revealing is subjective, but for me it means no cleavage and less clinging to the body. Wishing you all the best!
Great tips! ☺️ I do think you looked great in the lower waisted pants though, it really showed off your smaller waist! I thought even more than the high rise jeans did! ❤️
For all those who are confused about their body shape because it doesn't exactly fit the criteria of a certain one: it is possible - and even happens frequently - that you fall in between two different body types. I, for example, have - according to various calculators on the internet and my measurements - a mixture of a gentle hourglass figure and an inverted triangle figure. My shoulders (103 cm) are a little wider than my hips (high hip = 98 cm, low hip 101 cm). However, my hips are wider than my bust (91 cm). My waist (76 cm) is defined but not extremely; some clothes actually make me look like I have a rectangular body shape. Others make my shoulders look wider than they actually are, some make my hips narrower. Oh, and: it doesn't matter if your shoulders, bust, waist or hips are 2 cm too wide or too narrow to fit the criteria of an hourglass figure. Such small, measly deviations don't matter. Besides, as they say, it is often the case that you are a mixture of two body types.
I… im so confused… I don’t know if it’s a cultural difference but she isn’t what I would consider curvy at all… she looks slim to me I don’t know. I don’t understand this scale. According to it I am on the curvy side but I’ve always been teased for being skinny… I… I don’t get this…
@@SocialExperiment232 likely cultural differences. She is talking just generally "having curves", which is still weird since I think most people do, even if it's gentle curves like hers. A lot of her advice would make us very curvy people look overly sexy instead of just nice...
That dress looks great on you! I'm definitely an hourglass shape. I have the 0.7 waist to hip ratio and all. I'm not sure what my face type is. I just found your channel end looking forward to learning how to dress with more elegance. 🥰
I had no idea about this waist to hip ratio! I never considered myself hourglass because I have hips dips but I've just done the maths (26 inch waist and 37 inch hips) and turns out I am lol thanks for this new piece of info
I like more how you look with most of the more loose tops you discarded (except the sweater), honestly more sophisticated. There are other clothes that would show curves and look nice too.
The dress looks great. I'm 48 now and always wear dresses, as I'm petite and curvy. A lot of clothes engulf me, that's why great fitted dresses are my favourite, especially Karen Millen. She gets this style right every time. I'd never heard of these yin and yang terms, so thanks for that. I've usually worn straight edge to my dress or skirt bottom, but I will try a frill now too. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love Learning new things, especially now my body is losing tone xXx
This video is GOLD! Finally I know WHY some this look not so good on me. I'm a soft classic too and I'd really love to buy a dress like yours... I'm going to a wedding this summer and that would be GORGEOUS! Could you tell me it's brand, please?
Basically just keep it rounded and the fabric soft. the higher the neckline the more it will fight with your figure, but I completely understand wanting to feel modest! Or you could wear a turtleneck for example with a long necklace which would break up the lines and create an illusion of a low neckline without showing skin!
Completely agree about keeping lines rounded and soft. Try draped necklines (like a cowl style) or ruching to provide accommodation for your curves while still having plenty of fabric and coverage. I am 32D, so while I’m not extremely busty, my chest is relatively large for my smaller frame, so I have to shop for blouses and tops that accommodate.
This explains why I don't like stripes as a theatrical romantic. Oversize street style never works on me either. I love silk/satin especially on my dresses or thick stretchy fabric
Can you link to the one shoulder dress or tell us what it is called or where you got it? I have a wedding coming up to attend as a guest and it’s perfect.
Thoughts on color making us feel more comfortable when things are fitted? Darker colors fitted, lighter colors looser cuts? I know for me I used to wear black everyday for work and never had a problem, but nowadays if I wear a pink or a beige I always of sudden felt self conscious of maybe looking too provocative or other women treated me differently ( with disdain) . Otherwise wearing brighter colors maybe patterns when they’re more fitted it somehow works( camouflage)?
Being a romantic, I find it really difficult zo dress well for my body without looking too inappropriate. My family is really religious and showing skin is looked down upon..also I feel like some women appear distant and hateful whenever I do dress in a way that is flattering to my curves, making me just want to hide. Sad
i feel this so much
I absolutely adore this.
Same! I love my shape
omg we have the same body type! It's a bit hard to find a similar style about hourglass/curvy people but with small chest.
We are so similar, I’m quite short and I always thought I was a pear! Turns out I’m an hourglass :,)
Although most of my jeans are either high rise or mid rise since they are more popular and easier to find these days, I feel like low rise jeans with a cropped top that shows off the waist works perfect for me 🤩
Low rise gives miffin top even when I'm underweight. Maybe it depends more how long or short your legs are rather than your curviness.
Is the male gaze also the lesbian gaze? Or are only males predatory?
@@tula1433 only males
The options shown in the video are already modest
@@tula1433 both can be predatory, just like any human. But I’d assume the “male gaze” only refers to men
I love that you actually explain what we’re looking at.
The crop tee and leggings thing is not for us !
finally, a video on CASUAL wear that I can relate to! 😭 you have no idea how MUCH you've helped me. I'm so grateful I found this video
Thank you that’s so great to hear! It sounds like you really get it, that’s exactly what you need as SG! ♥️
@@elliejeanroyden Could you add the links of the clothes in the description, plss??🥺
Topic requests: 😇
- identifying your body type (maybe explain how to do using old photos?)
-professional outfits for romantic body type (that navy velvet jacket!)
- casual outfits for romantic body type (without cleavage)
- what to do about VERY “yin” arms (those cute little puff sleeves with the elastic are always way too tight!)
Great content ! Something to add though ✨️
To consider when having curves ; consider the vertical ratios as well !
This is also my body and denim and trousers are a constant struggle 🥹 dresses and skirts typically work but so desire a great pair of jeans
I don’t know if it’s a cultural difference or something but her body isn’t what I would consider curvy… in my country she is slim. I’m confused.
I gave up on button down shirts years ago and go with crossover/wrap tops for business professional. I would LOVE a video to address this!
This explained exactly why I never liked how I looked in tucked in t-shirts. I never had the right words for it. Thank you!
*sew
i can tell you enjoyed making this video and i love how your facial expressions varied; you look more happy and relaxed in clothes that were better suited for you!
@@elliejeanroyden that makes so much sense, thanks for the reply! ♥️
I recommend the channel "petite dressing", after I saw her videos, everything made perfect sense suddenly. I am small and curvy myself and lots of the tips do not apply, or do apply differently when you are petite (e.g. high rise jeans are too high and wide belts are too wide).
@@happytofu5 I love her channel, as I'm also petite and curvy:)
This is such a struggle for me - it's so hard for hourglass figures to do casual!
@@Ariel68peanut flared pants aren't flattering
Never have I ever left the house with an uncinched waist dress and it felt right.
It's pretty easy to know what hugs the body shape. There are times you don't want to show of curves however.
A lot of the "wrong" options actually look very contemporary and more "chill". The "right" looks either have a more 90s feel or are a bit more preppy.
I have that lipsy floral dress! It’s so pretty. However, I’m pear shaped but it’s still very flattering.
hi ellie-jean!! i would love more videos like this- helpful body styling tips that aren't so heavily kibbe! obviously kibbe goes into more detail but for some people, it is confusing and intimidating enough to steer them away, and the consultations, though i understand your pricing, aren't as accessible!
This is all so very interesting. I've never heard of yin/yang body types before. Glad I found your channel x
I was explaining something similar to my husband today. Your video is fantastic and very educational.
I'm a soft dramatic and the current oversized trend makes me feel horribly dumpy and I've always felt more comfortable in curve accomodating, more adjusted clothing. Thank you for these tips!
I love velvet and shiny clothing. Also haven’t found a ruched dress I didn’t like. Great tips shared here, thank you so much! 😊
I feel like we would be absolute friends. Love what you share in such a concise, soft manner 🥰🤍🙏🏼
Great explanations! I love videos like these, because as a more visual learner, I can *see* the concepts you teach 🙂
So helpful, loved this video! Do you have any ideas for more modest looser fitting outfits for a romantic kibbe? Really struggling with this as I don't like to wear the more fitted styles all the time, even though they are much easier to style!
Layering clothes and finding tops and dresses that drape are best for women with an S curve or those who enjoy looser but fitting garments ❤️
Your channel is such a gift bc I am a soft classic too! 💞 to my SC sis you’re doing amazing
Thank-you Ellie! I actually think on you, the blue dress with puffed sleeve was stunning without the belt.
This was a very informational video dear Ellie! Thank you so much!
You're making my kibbe type more easy! This helps me a lot. Thank you so much!💖💖
I was anticipating this video!
Girl I'm in the same boat so I got rid of the few skinny jeans I owned and went to lower rise, but they make my belly stick out :(
I do love your looks with those boxy jumper and top. I think they work great because they're cropped so they still highlight your waist
i actually think low rise works better than high rise for an hourglass body, make sure it’s actually low rise and not mid rise because otherwise it looks awkward and pair it with a long tight top and it reallllly accommodates the hourglass shape, with high rise it often makes you look boxy as the waist looks the same width as the hips but low rise really shows the difference between the waist and hips especially with a tight top that’s long and really shows the smaller waist!!
These are some of my favorite looks I’ve seen from you, you look fantastic!
This was mind blowing! And what a beautiful inclusive way to describe body type. 💕
I think you look good in every "don't" outfit as well. Honestly, I think you're slim enough with a proportionate enough body to pull off most things.
Omg, I don't know how this works but it really does! They really work so much better, never knew about this before!!
Thank you for I video full of examples and information. I’m looking to find the right clothes for me and you have been so helpful!! Glad I found your channel.❤️🌷🌞
omg, this dress is DIVINE 😍 you look so amazing in it
Thank you for this video, it makes so much sense 😊 I've never loved to wear boxy clothes and high necklines. I don't really know the kibbe concept.
Thank you for explaining things so clearly and concisely. Your principles can be applied to any age / style preferences.
Yupp! I LOVE my body shape, I'm more of a pear. I feel like these trends either hide everything or fashiova where it's too tight. Thanks for this 💕
Thank you so much for this!! Where did you get that dress, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Hi!! I've heard you talk on Tik Tok about seasons and colors and how they affect your appearance. Could you make a video explaining how they work and how to recognize them?
This is a game changer. I'm 5'1" with curvy hips. THANK YOU!! :)
I’m a natural ingenue and my body type is incredibly similar to yours! Thank you for these videos, they’re inspiring and very helpful☺️
"Wear what you want , just wear your size" My aunt once said this!
Wow I loved this. You literally have my exact body type.
Watching this as a flamboyant gamine to see what I need to avoid 😁 all the "wrong" examples are my best lines. great video!
@@frang.8995 it looks great with a belt though
Fab intro, lovely lady & thanks for the info!
Thank you so much for your videos, I'm learning a lot and now I know why I've always hated how my style looks on me
I'm a theatrical romantic true summer who LOVES edgy and angular clothes and autumn colours (lucky me, I guess), so now I'm trying to find a balance between my taste and what nature gave me
Being more educated on the subject really helps, thank you!
Basically you're saying for this body type, wear more fitted styles and avoid Jonny Was tablecloths. Good advice!
I really love your style omg I've subscribed almost immediately. the vibes, the style, the colors, it's so perfect!
Blue Dress looks great both ways but I prefer it without the belt on u.
Thanks for all these wonderful tips!!

I like more how you look with most of the more loose tops you discarded (except the sweater), honestly more sophisticated. There are other clothes that would show curves and look nice too.
Fantastic video, I'm 50 and I learned a lot! Thank you!
Wheres the dress from??? Absolutely gorgeous very TR too ! 😍😍
This is all awesome! What would you recommend in terms of necklines for busty girls that want to be a little more modest?
This videos has been soooooo helpful ong
That’s so great to hear, thank you!
I have always loved peplum and softer fabrics and I just realized this is why. I thought I was a dramatic but I am definitely a soft romantic too :)
This explains why I don't like stripes as a theatrical romantic. Oversize street style never works on me either. I love silk/satin especially on my dresses or thick stretchy fabric
OMG! Thank you. You just put in to words my fashion Goals! ❤
Can you link to the one shoulder dress or tell us what it is called or where you got it? I have a wedding coming up to attend as a guest and it’s perfect.
The boxy t-shirt looks amazing though!
Thank you for this video!! It's fantastic.
The other soft natural body type videos in the playlist are hidden... 😢 Please can you upload more videos about how to style soft naturals?
It’s so tough as we get older. I’m definitely an hourglass but hitting 50’s and my waist is disappearing from a side profile.
