People are so judgmental about looks but claim they are about body positivity

@@oooh19 Saying there is an ideal body type isnt judgemental. Ppl who dont have it will of course feel "judged". You can be positive and realistic. There will always be an ideal. That has nothing to do with body positivity.
I love to see analyses of actors that are purposefully put in clothes that don't suit them. I learn so much from the reasoning why it looks off and the comparisons of course.
Yes, the psychological set up of that is fascinating. And so many people accidentally do this in real life. I also would love for her to discuss a specific style such as preppy old money and the results when you put it on each body type. This is so important because many of these styles tend to stick around and then forever keep coming in and out of style.
Great video like always! Would you consider making a video with "basics" for the body types? I find it so hard to find t-shirts, button downs etc. because they are usually too boxy for my body, but wearing dresses everyday is not practical😭

I have the same issue! I work in a business consulting firm so i need to look professional but button downs are very boxy on me too. I also have the issue where the shirt either fits my curves well but gaps at the bust 🙄 the alternative is to wear shirts that have enough "give" for my bust but then the bottom part is so shapeless and huge! And makes me look frumpy.
What i now do is wear button downs in softer materials. Think chiffons, satins, silks or even soft cottons rather than stiffer cottons or linens. I buy them in a size that has enough bust room. And i always, always tuck them into my pants. This small adjustment makes me appear professional while also honouring my lines (waist emphasis etc)
My go-to casual look is a flowy shirt or blouse (not baggy) with jeans or casual pants, rather than a t-shirt. And again, tucked in...a bit loosely tucked is fine
One thing particularly tricky with TR is fabric thickness. In general even if there is a flowy or draping design a thick fabric often is too much. I think this is because it interferes with the delicate bones and small curves and makes us look blocky. So anyone who is TR when shopping remember thinner fabrics are much more likely to look excellent. You can work around this if an item is structurally curvy like a qipao, but so many items just aren't designed that way.
This is so helpful! I'm a Romantic and am 4'11, but have always felt weighed down when wearing clothes that fit traditional petite styling tips- long cardigans, long pants + boots/heels. Now I know why. I feel much more myself in ankle-length pants and cropped cardigans.

I have never heard a petite given advice to wear long cardigans! Wow! I’m 5’2” and was always told to fit to my scale. But I admit I had not tried ankle pants until I discovered Kibbe.
@@stephanien6237 yeah, I've been told it makes you look taller because it "elongates" you- especially if you wear a monochromatic look. I just feel heavy in them.
Yeah, I never understood why the standard style advice you hear never worked for me. Until I found kibbe, and it all made sense. I'm a 4'9" TR.

I used to think I was SG and never felt so weird and kinda frumpy even though I liked the style. When I started dressing for a more lush, romantic type everything clicked perfectly. Sometimes you really gotta try styles to know your type. It also helps if your partner can point out that you have a very similar body types to celebs who are already typed
Same thing happend to me. I thought I was a SG but I never felt quite right in SG lines as they were too compact and made me feel large and stumpy. Romantic lines look the best on me, but I have found that my face leans more SG, which can be awkward to accommodate sometimes.

This video helped me figure out my type since I'm petite!!! People always wanted to put me in soft or flowy things since I'm "cute" but I always look a million times better in structured! TY!! Also, using your hand structure to diagnose your body type would be brilliant!
I'm 5'3/163cm and this video told me I'm actually not petite - mind officially blown!
I'm about 80% sure I'm a dramatic classic, and yeah dressing in any of the things you just described for the petite types would make me look super weird.
This channel has been so helpful for understanding why certain things look weird or straight-up bad on me, even if i might like the look of them on the hanger or in a photo, and knowing it's just How I'm Shaped and not some, like, moral failure.

Thank you!! I took the test and did get theatrical Romantic , which seems for the most part accurate for me. I’m 4’11 with an hourglass figure , and sometimes it’s hard to find clothes that fit me properly so these videos help immensely 😊
Being tall (5'7 or above), but described as 'delicate' and narrow bones usually means Dramatic! This personally helped me a lot. I look a bit like a Flamboyant Gamine in certain features but I'm too tall, so I try to use a mix of advice from both types, but more Dramatic!
Okay I am 5'6. My shoulders are wide,my breast are okay ,small waist and my hips are abit smaller than my shoulder length (if you get me,I can't explain well 😭).
My thighs are thicc too but my legs not so much.

I know that flowy dresses and skirts look good my body buttt it is sooo hard for me to wear casual clothes. Casual clothes or basics makes me look boxy and bulky. I think I am a romantic too and what works well for me is wearing a very form fitting pair of pants, tights or leggings. When the bottom is super form fitted, the top can be a bit more loose. It should have waist emphasis or be cropped though. A french tuck can help with that. One of my winter favorites for maximum comfort is wearing a short knit dress with tights or leggings.
I'm pretty sure I'm a romantic and the thing that has made the biggest difference in my casual clothes has been tucking in my t-shirts weirdly enough. I wear a lot of high rise jeans (the closer to my natural waist the better) and then I tuck my t-shirt and it helps to show my figure. Also, if it's a looser shirt I let it blouse out a bit to create a draping effect and that seems to really work. You can also take inspiration from a lot of 50s vintage, pinup, and rockabilly casual outfits since a lot of those silhouettes seem to work really well for romantics.
I don‘t think i‘m petite but this was so interesting! You talking about the harempants and ankle length pants got me thinking: how about a video on different styles of pants/jeans. I don‘t think i‘ve seen a video of yours on this topic and it would be really helpful since i‘m so not a dress wearing kind of girl :D
I am Theatrical Romantic and I describe myself as a tiny curvy person! And yes, a can be a very complicated type to dress. The type of fabrics very much matter and thin, flowy fabrics that are fitted but not tight are definitely the most flattering. But I very much struggle with finding the right clothing shape and materials for my body.
Can you do a video explaining kibbe terms vs. what we conventionally know them as?
For example: explain kibble’s definition of profits, curve, vertical, etc.
I feel like I mostly know what these terms mean specifically in kibbe, but I feel like I need clearer definitions and comparisons.
I have never had a hard time dressing back in the US, but I just moved to Paris and it seems that the fashion at the moment is more flattering towards dramatic, sharp lines and women with delicate, not-so-fleshy frames.
Meanwhile, I'm quite sure that I'm romantic: short, double curve with big bust aka the total opposite of the ideal in my current city.
I went shopping and almost all the shirts and dresses I found were straight up and down with no curve accommodation and the fabric is so weighty. I need help lol will definitely hire your services soon.

The more I hear you talk about body types the more fascinated with my own I become, and I wonder if you can do more for plus-size women? Because, as a fat person commonly perceived as a woman, its really hard for me to differentiate whether I'm either a gamine, a TR, or a romantic, because I would argue that my fatness is the most visible thing about me, rather than any specific shapes, though I _do_ believe I have Kibbe petite and double curve.
I think I might be a TR, but I also think that might be wishful thinking based on my style roots (earth, fire, moon), considering the suggestions you give for them.
I don’t know if you’ve already discussed this or made a video just on this topic, but I would love to hear you talk about each types’ recommended lines and silhouettes and then go through the effects for all other types wearing those lines, if that makes sense.
I’m a Flamboyant Gamine and I never thought of myself as “petite” before I found Kibbee. I’m 5’4” and I have sort of long arms and legs in comparison to my torso. My waist is short, so through Kibbee I learned that I look best in shirts that stop at my waist, but most shirts are typically long nowadays. Then it occurred to me… to shop in the “Petites” section 🤦🏽♀️. Problem solved! Lol now I have an easier time finding shirts that look good on my weird shape.
Cropped tops that hit right at or above my high waist work well! Maybe they would work for you too?
i love how i'm everthing i don't think is pretty on others haha ( not saying they're ugly, but we all got prefrence and our own sense of what is pretty) but maybe that is just the same as people with curls wanting straight hair, and people with straight hair wanting curls. your videos made me realise that... and also the fact that clothes do a lot to us
I went through such a ‘journey’ myself and while I still enjoy the things on others I have come to like ‘my things’ as well.

I am stuck between romantic or soft classic! As per the test i am SC, and i also feel i am more balanced hence that seems correct. The issue is that i am extremely short! (5 ft) although most people think i am taller by a couple inches (i look slightly taller than i am). But i dunno whether my height rules out SC...but i don't seem a pure R either 😭
@@minervarose7664 Exactly for me too, except my options seems to be soft classic or soft gamine. 5' tall, I don't look short in a photo by myself so I guess I have vertical going on and very proportioned, and my face is more classic or even natural - longish squarish with balanced features.

I'm theatrical romantic and I adore dolman tops! The drappy sleeves with the rooshed waist... only "t-shirt" that looks right on me.
It's funny, because my family, who are all much taller and bigger boned, have always referred to me as being like a little doll. I'm not just shorter, everything is smaller (head, feet, hands), but I have really long legs for being 5'2 and sharp, narrow shoulders.

This was soooo helpful! I’ve always been confused about my body type because I’m petite with curve. But with the mention of the bluntness in the jaw and angularity in the shoulders, I’m positive I’m a soft gamine now.

This is so helpful! I've been adding version things to my wardrobe for petites, and now I see why I like but don't love them. They're more for gamines, so they work for my height but not my shape.

I don’t believe in pure types personally as kibbe doesnt - it makes sense, by simple maths you are going to lean more one way or another!
@@elliejeanroyden Sure someone might lean one way or the other but its still useful to have the middle range as an option. My mother is soft classic and I'm definitely sharper and longer than her, but one of my sisters is dramatic classic and in comparison to her I look small and much less dramatic (and she is 8 years younger!). Yes, maybe I lean a little dramatic but the pure classic category just fits so much better.
I'm a huge 60s fashion lover and I've been wearing mod fashion for over 2 years. I find many mod staples such as geometric shapes and loose/straight waist cuts don't flatter my romantic body, though it looks great on flamboyant gamines. Tips on how I can wear more classic mod style and not look "bulky"?

Hi, love your work, would like to see a video on why some classic styles don’t work on x body type. I never had a wrap dress before and I believe I’m a flamboyant natural autumn colouring and I saw this chocolate brown satin wrap dress and had to try. 😅 it looked like a bath robe, not even a satin/silk bathroom, like a chunky terry cloth one. I just don’t understand how something so soft and waist emphasizing looked so heavy and bag like on me.

Question for Romantics -- in the winter, I feel like a lot of my outfits make me look confined and bulky. Because, higher necklines and thicker fabrics -- to stay warm. I have a couple coats that are pre-Kibbe so they're not accommodating petite or curve very well -- it interesting how obvious this stuff feels now. -- I think a scarf that is a bit flowy or with some ruffle would be helpful -- any other ideas?

This winter I pretty much only wore short knit dresses with tights / leggings in a matching color. They are form hugging even when being made of a thicker material. If it is super cold, I add another sweater (but always check for the waist emphasis).
Sweater dresses and long/mid length coats where you tight at waist.

I have been trying to determine my body type, and I was thinking at first I leaned more soft-gamine, but upon deeper consideration, I think I am a soft natural. The biggest reason being the small, narrow bones required to be a gamine. Never in my life has anyone ever thought me smaller than I am (5'4") or considered me petite even though I'm not terribly tall. I've never been called small boned , ever. Just interesting. This video helped me confirm that a bit more when you went through the petite types.

I'm 5' tall and feel like I am more of a Soft Natural with some gamine essence. Anything too detailed looks like I'm trying to hard. I'm short but not delicate. I am very solid, busty, and compact, width in my bone structure.

I'm only just now old enough to be properly typed, and I actually think that I will feel more secure in my type in a few more years, because I'm technically still losing a bit of baby fat and gaining what I call my "adult" weight. I've been studying Kibbe for a few years now, and could never figure out if I was SG, TR, or R. I feel like I'm a little too lean to be R, a little too little girlish to be either TR or R, too mature looking to be SG, but far too small to be any other type 🙄. So far, I look great in R and TR lines, so I'm going with that for now.

I really relate to the clothing ideas for TR, the cinched edges. That has always been something that looks great on me. I feel pure R is a little too froofy on me, too soft not ornate enough, but every single time I post photos of myself to ask people in the Kibbe community they almost always say pure R, and it seems that the reason they give is that my hips are not super round and my waist is not extremely narrow but I do look small and curved still very noticeably. I am currently about 25 pounds overweight but it's well hidden because my bones are small so 8t just looks like I'm normal size. Still, very boneless looking. However, I see many other ladies who have very large hips and disproportionately small top half being told they are TR which always gets me because that's not double curve is it?? I guess it really is true, in my opinion, that TR is very misunderstood and most people don't know what a TR looks like. I have been "professionally " typed many times because I love getting the analysises done, it's so fun to read, and every time I've gotten TR because I send a ton of photos at different weights, and only got R once, but still whenever I share my results in the Kibbe community it's like no one ever wants to let me be recognized as TR, despite that those details and clothes look best on me and I am petite. I love Mila as an example of TR because the stereotype people have of these large hips for TR just needs to go.

I am flamboyant gamine, short, narrow and vertical, non-curvy, youthful looking, but I don’t like most of style suggestions for FG, because they include “playful”, “childish”, “cheerful”, which, combined with my babyface makes me a literal child and does not work well with my inner self. I appreciate that you’ve mentioned high contrast, waist definition and didn’t put emphasis on playfulness as many other Kibbe-based stylists do.
I’ve successfully incorporated broken lines, waist definition and structured fabrics in my wardrobe. Still feel a bit lost in terms of accessories, details and prints. I love bold statement jewelry pieces, but sometimes I doubt if they fit me or not.
I would appreciate styling advices suitable for mature gamine women.
Can you be 5ft and still be soft natural? I am from an ethnicity who are typically shorter in general than western ethnicities. But I feel I look better in soft natural lines than gamine lines. I am confused!

Joking aside though when you started saying all the stuff that romantics look best in all I could think of was how for my senior pictures I wore my Nana's Gunne Sax dress that she wore in the 70s as a bridesmaid and that is the most beautiful I have ever looked. The flow, the lace, the tiny floral details. I must be a romantic because no piece of clothing I've ever worn has looked so damn pretty on me before and I absolutely adore those pictures with all my heart because of how pretty they make me feel.
I currently fit a flamboyant natural but I’m only 5ft 1”. So when at a low weight I certainly do look petite such as a flamboyant gamine (but without the typical gamine face type), but when at a heavier weight, I just look short and fit a flamboyant natural more 🫤

Amazing video! Can you make a video of suggestions for each kibbe body type for those who wear hijab or modestly. ❤
I think once hijab and it’s associated dress code is brought into play, it becomes less about accommodations/honoring the silhouette (because for example, abayas typically have width + vertical. Petite + curve will be impossible and defeat its purpose) due to fixed dress code (e.g. romantics are encouraged to show off curves). There will be more emphasis on details (hijab style, accessories, shapes, fabric type/weight in terms of both clothes and hijab, patterns) to express one’s yin-yang balance. Actual accommodations could still be possible depending on how closely someone observes hijab guidelines.
Dramatics (and dramatic family) do well creating a narrow and sleek silhouette. Clothes don’t need to be tight but ideally they shouldn’t appear billowy/flowy either. Sharp pleating, structure, bold geometric patterns, heavier and stiffer materials, shoulder pads, long unbroken vertical line from head to toe, keeping a sleek hijab style (avoid too much fabric near the shoulders, keeping it close to the neck and below it), etc. Maggie Smith is a verified D, so maybe looking into her character in the Harry Potter movies can provide some inspo. If you want to wear a turtleneck with your hijab it’ll be easy to do here.
Naturals can handle modesty guidelines the best. They do well with loose and flowy garments, even billowy. They can take chunky details. The overall head to toe should not feel constricting. Turtlenecks can look suffocating so it’s probably best to cover the neck with the actual scarf if desired (or wear a chunkier looking turtleneck). Soft naturals would maybe use silk, or incorporate more yin influence, like large floral prints or something like that.
Classics need simplicity. They can’t handle a lot of volume but dramatic looks are severe or too bold. Similar rules to the dramatic but soften things up a bit. Polished but not too sleek. They could do chiffon. Other than simplicity I find this type hard to describe in these terms. Think of the middle ground between dramatic and romantic.
Gamines need to break their vertical line. Create staccato. Abayas need a lot more thought because they thrive in separates. To accommodate petite they can have tapering at the wrists. Instead of tapering at the ankles, I would try to have garments hover above the shoes so they don’t overwhelm the person. Crew socks could come in handy. Also, cropped jackets! A jacket that goes above your hips will help to accommodate petite. They can also do turtlenecks. The hijab style should feel crisp, so probably no chiffon. This and a good use of separates should help a hijabi gamine. Gamines also do well with lots of busy detail such as contrasting buttons and perky/quirky patterns, so take advantage of that. They can use some stiff materials too.
The actual hijab covering the chest can dampen a gamine’s spunk (too much fabric), so make sure whatever top you are wearing completely obscures your chest so that your hijab can just cover your face and neck. I think the traditional Turkish hijab style would be very elegant on a gamine. Even though you’re covering up head to toe, avoid the impression of “too much fabric”. Go for “precise amount of fabric” instead. That’s key for gamines.
Romantics need to rely on yin detail the most since showing off curves is off the table. They can borrow from naturals. Soft, round shapes like bows and ruffles as opposed to straight harsh lines. The hijabs also look soft and round, not sleek or crisp. Chiffon is great, as is any soft light fabric. Maybe avoid geometric patterns so that you can express your yin.

I will say that sometimes I think using celebrity photos isn’t helpful since they are always wearing makeup and the photos are often retouched so it’s hard to actually see bone structure etc

Nice video. Do you have examples of short women who are not delicate? It may be hard because women with that mix probably don't end up in film or television. I am only 5 feet tall, but not delicate nor have petite bone structure. I have width in my bones. I used to wear men's watches because they fit better. I think I am a mix of natural and gamine which I know may not be a thing but there it is. 😀
I actually think she's TR, when you look at pictures of her at lower weights you can see the sharp narrow square shoulders. And she really looks amazing in small sharp detail!! She also seems to handle structure better than R's do, from my observation (like corset boning as an example). I think the higher lushness of R garments is ever so slightly overwhelming to her - as in her face gets lost, even though her body can make it work.
I have done so much research and quizzes over a year and i think i can safely say that i am a theatrical romantic . I have also actually seen someone type someone with the exact same body as me as a TR too. Hadnt a clue that TR was rare or apparently desired so much 😂 personally i would prefer more to be a SD or a romantic type than a TR. I just accept who i am though and work with it.
Please make a video about dramatic classic, it might be the hardest kibbe type of all.
There are good examples of DC, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, taller classics. I admire and envy this style, very put together, timeless, expensive looking.

Can you please make a video about how to dress more casually as a romantic body type? I’m not the type of person to wear velvet & lace everyday, I’m more of a “tshirt+jeans” person (my style roots are Stone/Sun/Earth).
I’m a petite person who is very rounded/Yin dominant, and I think I may have double curve, but a lot of the romantic fabric suggestions feel really disconnected from my personal style. I try to dress in my best lines with waist definition, and shorter hemlines but something still feels off. Any suggestions on how to blend these things? Thanks!! 🪨🌞🌎
Can you do a video on tall and very narrow body types? I'm 5'7 110 lbs and wear XXS. Because my bones and body are long and delicate, people often think I'm taller than I am and often call me petite. Not sure where I fit.
Sounds like you are likely a Dramatic in the Kibbe system! They can seem delicate in the way people usually use the word because of how narrow they are, but they are not "delicate" in the way Kibbe uses the term
I’ve been following you for a while and your tips have helped me ! From what I can comprehend & if I’m following your tips correctly: I believe I am Romantic Body type & I’m 5’1-5’2 . Im still trying to figure this out & colors that suit me well… I’m fair skin but have some pink undertones in me …( don’t judge… I’m so new at all this !!)

I am 5 ft tall with a soft but balanced body type. I *think* i am soft classic. But, despite being extremely short, i never come across as "little" and people actually think i am a couple inches taller than i really am! Am i petite as per Kibbe definition?
it took me a long time to realise but i am 100% a theatrical romantic!!! i even got my sibling to do the kibbe thing with me (they did mine, i did theirs) bc i was certain i couldnt be but i actually check every box and i do kinda look like salma hayek lol

I took the test and found out I was theatrical romantic. I am sure about it because I am 1.65 cm with long legs and arms with narrow sharp shoulders and an “hourglass” shape. Thank you for your content its really helpful

I'm 5'1, but I do have broad shoulders and a bigger bust; I feel like I also have some features in the face that are too strong to be in harmony with softer shapes. what about soft natural i feel like a tina turner gamine leaning toward natural and i am just more confuse about how to dress. one thing i think people don't talk about flamboyent gamine yang can go sharp or wide twiggy and audrey hepburn are more dramatic undercurrent while lad gaga or tessa thompson are natural.
I think Kate Winslet is more than just romantic. She's tall, and her face and eyes include some drama and perhaps classic or ethereal.

I was wondering where they were are well. I'm guessing it's another one of those spots where Kibbe words don't have the same definition as they do in the vernacular. My friend is a SN and also petite - appears small, little, and youthful, but has broad shoulders and big hands and feet for her height. She needs to accommodate for width and curve but also her small size when she shops, which can be a struggle because traditional "petite" clothing in the vernacular sense often doesn't accommodate for Kibbe width.

Hey Ellie! Most of the kibbe examples you give of body types are celebrities, or photos of women who are very skinny. Would you consider trying to include more photos of everyday women? When it comes to body typing, it's hard for me to transfer the information you give to myself because there aren't many examples of women with average body weights.
Interesting how here in egypt most people, both men and women are romantics and theatrical romantics with gamines coming second and larger types are quite uncommon here
Are you supposed to keep ethnicity in mind when typing? I think so, but I’m not positive. Defining tall/short, wide/narrow by what would be average for your ethnicity.
Are soft dramatics taller theatrical romantics because I feel like I look amazing in every recommended TR style if the clothes were accommodated for my vertical. I’m 178cm so I’m quite tall, in photos and irl I often appear smaller than I am so my vertical doesn’t seem to be too crazy but ofc im not TR at that height. I landed on being a soft dramatic as i am not at all wide and have long sharp bones but I am also pretty curvy especially on the hips and thighs. Def need to accommodate that, I am very drowned by natural lines. So SD Are the closest I get for my height but the lines I wear most are longer versions of TR and they look stunning.

I wouldn't say flamboyant gamines are petites. They have really long bones more than often (think Audrey Hepburn, Penelope Cruz etc,). Kibbe himself says a flamboyant gamine will not have a delicate bone structure,

No only 10! True naturals, gamines and classics were gotten rid of by kibbe years ago ♥️
I might be somewhere in between when overweight/obese but with my normal weight, I’m probably more gamine. I’m definitely petite at 5’0 but I also have small hands and feet.

I think what confuses me the most are shoulders, I’m am not slim like many of these references. I am losing weight right now just from health. But my shoulders, to me, just stick out so much. I have double curve, I am petite both literally and in my vertical line, but my shoulders just seem so wide idk why
You could be SN or FN. SN have curve accommodation. If you’re elongated, then you’re FN. Your vertical and width cancel curve or double curve, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t be curvy. Most FNs are, actually.
