runway models aren't paid as much as you'd think. only supermodels get paid a lot.
Many aren't paid at all, lol
Amy Duong what makes you a supermodel?
xxxsasukation who said this person is a super model lmao
Yaa even with big pay checks there’s just too much inconsistency with those pay checks. It doesn’t matter if you get paid $1k for a job if you’re out of work for x amount of time because other clients won’t hire you. It’s a huge hustle
xxxsasukation professional models with worldwide fame and high payment are usually branded as supermodels, though this title has become controversial lately, become some of the really high paid models in the industry only are because of their background (Kendall Jenner, Bella hadid...) etc
Supermodels are basically famous, skilled models that get paid a lot. The normal runway models barely live with their salaries.
are these IG models really tryna say editing and plastic surgery is rare?! lmaoo get outta here, they know damn well how toxic IG is
The male model said the truth about photoshopping
Hmm exactly, but I think every time the runway models say something like that they get offended
For real, iPhone apps are crazy with that.
And then they all say that they’re okay with being photoshopped
Amen. Even when IG "models" say they promote "body positivity" it's a lie cuz they don't show their real body/faces cuz it's hidden behind filters, photoshop, plastic surgery, etc... And, Miriam lie, she definitely don't look 29. I'm 29 and she looks twice my age.
what is odd is that runway models have actually made me feel confident over the years with how unique and different they can all look whereas growing up with social media and instagram, “Instagram models” are the ones that actually made me feel insecure and not worthy of my body and face.
Runway models are selling clothes and their work and beauty is more like art and admiring a sculpture in a museum.
Instagram models get plastic surgery, wear pounds of makeup and filter every pic. They don't even look like their pictures. Also instagram models aren't models. They are glorified marketing and some of them are engaged in sex work like prostitution and pornography.
Real bro I feel the same
Instagram girls (hardly models) looks cheap and trying hard. Hence, not admirable.
its true!! even women that are in the gym edit the photos its terrible !
this is straight facts
“I photoshop my body to make it look a certain way and that’s okay” “I’m against plastic surgery, and I’m all for body positivity”
Are they even trying 😂😂
Editing a picture vs cutting yourself open??? Are you trying to say they’re contradicting themselves or that these quotes are ironic when the two aren’t even comparable..
I liked the bump, but might as well get it shaved down.
@@stitch626ichbruh wtf are u talking about they literally say that they did surgery and that is cutting a parts of their body, fix your wording pls cause it kinda makes no sense
The word “influencer” just makes me cringe so bad
Cuz that word is associated with cringy SJW’s and professional victims
gypsy 1999 I’m talking about “Instagram influencers”
gypsy 1999 huh
Yea I don’t really get the “influence” part
They influenced me to cringe
-Runway Models: Saint Laurent, Alexander Wang, Off White, Gucci
-Ig Models: Fashion Nova, Sugar Bear hair, Slim tea, Fabletics
It's a whole nother word.
Wait a minute fabletics is actually good 😐 do a lot of Instagram girls promote them or something?
Instagram models are more for the likes and comments and “clout” i feel rather than an actual runway model, they don’t really focus on the looks of the models but promoting the brand they are representing.
Flat tummy tea
Noemi Garcia sugar bear hair 😭😭
But it doesn't always cancel out. After all, emma chamberlain collaborated with Louis Vuitton....
Off the rip Alize, Jessica and Gary literally SCREAM elegance, professionalism, and humble.
Humble? The way the were looking at the instagram models and making faces definitely read "We're better than you"
@@torbjornhogstrom-vj3mkcuz they are
@@torbjornhogstrom-vj3mkyeah that's because they are
@@ahwidmwprjqisnq No human is inherently worth more than anyone else. And looking down on others only reveal ones own lack. A person who is truly successful and happy with themself has no reason to view themself as superior and walk around with an inflated ego. They will just do their thing and lot others do their thing.
@@torbjornhogstrom-vj3mk if i worked hard all my life, had sleepless nights, worked so hard that i cried every night, me, personally, woldnt say i would feel "superior" to someone, but i would have feeling of pride and joy that i worked harder then a guy who has done nothing in their life. im not saying its ok to look down on someone, but its very hard to accept someone who has done nothing even remotely close to what you have, equal.
IG models when they say "we are so natural and spontaneous, that's our charm", they actually mean: "we manufacture ourselves and our personality in order to appeal to a community", that's how you know social media is just a world of its own when it comes to superficiality and masking everything about yourself.
Yup!
Preach!
I think its worse that runway models are not inclusive, have harsh diets, and they have to be super skinny
And ??
Also most of them aren't even natural lmao
It’s funny how the Instagram “models” look rich and are trying to look soooo good and then the runway models look so natural that it looks like they aren’t even trying.
Fr their so beautiful
They, runway models, are so elegant!!!!
@@Steph489 i mean all of them are beautiful but u can definitely see the try hards lol
Sasha true and idk if it was just me but I feel like the ig girls were low key jealous of the models. But that just the way I see it ❤️
Its important when being a runway model to look like a canvas rather than a painting.
ewwwww why did the asian ig model say that asian girls are "not gifted with their bodies", but then talk about how ig modellng is about 'body positivity' and 'owning your flaws'??
the other problem with that is that there are 48 countries in asia. and she’s probably only talking about japan, china, korea etc. and tbh everyone looks they’re own way. so idk why she even said that
Jesus give the girl a break, she was talking about her own body not having natural curves as a general result of her genetics.
ikkk It made me sad about my asian body to hear that in order to make it pretty you have to augment it.
@@CC-hw3et she literally said asians arent blessed with good bodies so thats why she put in implants. Part of that is true in the sense that asians are genetically slimmer and have smaller boobs and butt. Disheartening to hear that she said in order to make asian bodies pretty we would have to put in implants
@@unlucky673 no it's not just those certain countries. honestly I think it's just what everyone says it just depends tbh. I'm Laos and Thai but I'm really curvy, but my aunt is petite and she has no butt or big boobs. so I just thinks it varies
Says a lot about our world when runway models who are stereotypically seen as "snobby" are actually down to earth, more real than these "inclusive" Instagram models. "I'm against plastic surgery" gets plastic surgery. "I don't really like photoshop" photoshops pictures to "enhance".
This.
I think a difference is Instagram models become Instagram models to be insta famous, to get likes, followers, sponsorships, validation. While runway models have often come about doing this in a different way. They are scouted, been doing this since childhood, went to an agency, wanted to be a runway model. They aren’t often searching for all (if any) of the same things Instagram models are. When people looking for fame and validation on instagram achieve it, their egos and sense of entitlement shows through.
I am honestly more inspired by the runway models than the Instagram "models". As harsh as it sounds, two of the three influencers don't even look like humans. The runway models look so real and warm.
THATS the word i was looking for! Inspiring! Thank you
They do "look human" tho. Being in shape and wearing a lot of makeup doesn't mean you don't look human tf
Why are you dehumanising them for? Your comment screams jealousy.
they are most certainly not in shape @@Denzz2
REAL
i'm not the only one who noticed how much more natural the runway models' makeup is than the instagram models, right?
Fashion models have to be attractive without makeup or filters. Models take neutral headshots with no makeup in addition to their portfolio so photographers can easily see their bone structure and proportions which is a base for anything additional that may be added in a shoot.
And?
instagram models usually do make up that is more suited to be photographed that's probably why and obviously because of influencer culture
I refer to that have at dramatic makeup as Instagram makeup, I’ve never seen anyone in person with it on
@@mariae.h.9403 its just that when you model the goal is to look naturally elegant and putting all that makeup like it models defeats the whole purpose
It broke my heart to hear that the male model couldn't find a job because people thought he was too dark skin he's gorgeous and y'all tripping
Exactly!
D. Val he sure is handsome, really smart too

The runway models seem much more professional to be honest.
They are trained professionals.

The unprofessional model wannabes get culled really fast. You’re left with people who can adapt quickly, learn the walk, take instruction well, and are excellent at interviews with a measured speaking tone.

The difference in class and elegance is so apparent here. The models seem to have a perspective that is shaped through hardwork, experiance and travelling meanwhile the Instagram 'influencers' seem totally amateur in principality and how they view things, like how are you going to justify photoshopping your body? That's insane to me.

Well said
Thats the problem with creating your own version of reality on the internet you come to believe its separate from the real world. World travel matures and changes human beings thats why the Runway models are the way they are
I could definitely sense the insecurity of Instragram models. Also, they didn't seem honest. I do admire that they got where they are now through their hard-work and all but they're not too professional with the way they carried themselves. And it's ironic that the runaway models actually made me feel better about myself than the influencers.
For some reason runway models make me so much less bad and conscious about myself than the “body positive insta models”
EXACTLY! I feel like in the quest of being body positive, ig models just make me focus too much on myself and my body while these runway models just say “I was naturally blessed with a nice body” and move on
Same! I don’t know what it is but they make me feel so good lol
I thought she was 49
right!! they seemed much more genuine and secure in themselves whereas the ig “models” felt like they were constantly trying to prove themselves
Same especially since I'm tall and thin and Instagram models are all plastic and photoshopped
IG Modes: Tries to twist the questions
Runway Models: "That was not the question"
Me: 👏👏👏
Yes, but at the same time, how can you say you "stand" against photoshopping, but then continue to work in the industry? If you are against photoshopping, something heavily done in the modeling industry, you ought not stand with its practices and policies, and yet she said she has allowed people to retouch her photos and she continues to support the industry despite the things she's against. So even though that was not the question, it is still natural to correlate the two.
@@GenerationNextNextNext however the ig use more photoshop than the runway models so, what was your point?
Sora Gen Next That same girl trying to twist the question said she was against plastic surgery, yet she has done surgery, and look into her ig acc, she might have done boobs or butts too. If she can have opinion on that’s, why can’t the model say she was against photoshopping her photos and also the photoshopping done for the models are not nearly as much as the Instagram models photos. IMO, that insta model is just a hypocrite.
Sora Gen Next they didn’t say they stand against it they said they were not ok with it ! Her job in the industry is to pose for the photos. That’s all they said and the guy said if it was a heavily photoshopped photo he would not do it ! You can’t base the whole industry off of a bunch of people
Sora Gen Next because all their job is, is to pose and create an image that will sell something. They don’t have control as to what happens to the picture after. I worked with ford agency when I was younger, and I every picture was retouched, as a child! The issue is partly consumers, they like the image they see and they buy these things, or use the services being advertised. People say they don’t like image being photoshopped, but they still purchase these from these brands
Gosh I have such a problem with these Instagram models, they’re everything that is wrong with this growing awareness of beauty. So hypocritical. They say they don’t use filters and don’t support plastic surgery but they do both!! I’m surprised to say the runway models feel more real.
Walking Contradictions 😮 ??? You hit it on the head these fashion magazines don't want that its natural beauty like "GIA CORONGI, by the way a grate movie 😮
its interesting to see how the IG models present different from the runway models. the runway models are almost without make up, simply dressed and seem more relaxed while the IG models look like they are constantly performing - full on make up, tight revealing dresses etc. its like one big show
I thought the runway models finna be egoistic and looking down on the “ influencer “ but... more like the opposite.
Sophia Chrin yeah it was as if the influencers were trying to prove that they’re worth as much as them
Miguel Hernandez - makes sense, looking through these comment sections they got bashed to the infinite so i don’t blame them 🤷🏼♂️
Emma Emma yeah and that’s what made them better, r you okay?
Most influencers have pretty fragile egos. Take the numbers away and there goes their confidence.
Calamityking - can u blame them tho? it’s not only their confidence it’s their income too
The girl in white, She just felt so insincere. Like she wants to prove that instagramming is on the same level as being a real model. She answered yes to almost all of the questions. Which caused some contradictions.
Same, felt she was "listening to respond" versus to "listening to understand"

@John Mark seriously bro. Right after she says she is kind of against plastic surgery she admits to it. What a joke. She’s boring af too I can’t stand her voice.
She contradicted everything she said within a minute
Can we talk about how runway models don’t need to much to look attractive. They just look so classy, natural and the aura around them is different
Fashion models are meant for art while Instagram models are meant for attraction that’s probably why I felt more insecure about looking at Instagram models than fashion models.
“i’m a social media influencer, instagram model, and social media content creator” these feel like the same thing said different ways

Mmmm many runway models struggle with accumulating a following on Instagram right now unless they’re intwined in some sort of celebrity scandal. Most runway models stay comparatively unknown

The instagram models always contradict themselves. First: my body is fine, we're for body acceptance. Then, Photoshop is OK, it sells the clothes.
Also how they say how they promote natural beauty, but 2 out of the 3 got plastic surgery done

Exactly! I mean they influence to do what basically?
Prob with IG models is they think the modeling industry should cater to them. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. The primary function of models is to essentially act as mannequins for designers in order to show off their designs. Designers create sample sizes for their creations in shows and models need to fit into them. Unfortunately, your job isn’t to uplift women. You’re just a vehicle for designers to show off their clothes. The IG models in this conversation see modeling as this glamorous job but are blind to the realities. They aren’t acknowledging the women who move to the US from economically deficient companies that live in model apartments barely getting by. IG models just see success related to sponsorships and likes on posts.
I think that huge designer brands have the resources to be more inclusive.
@@themorrigan4445you missed the point. It's not about the person, it's about the clothes. Runway models are like extras in a movie. They are there to serve the spotlight, they aren't the spotlight
Im an aspiring fashion designer, and one of the main reasons why we use people who are taller, have longer limbs, and are skinnier, is that these characteristics allow us to fit more detailings and layer garments proportionally (such as a blouse under a puffer you are able to extend the blouse longer to accentuate it). Also on top of more allowance, the body type creates more flattering drape like long legs allowing the fabric to sway elegantly to match the vision of the look. So these make for mainstays in what a model should look like. There are other characteristics that may a model may or may not have such as broader shoulders to give a sense of strength and works well with more masculine looks, or longer neck to accessorize or collared garments.
Ultimately you would think designers want to create clothes people can actually wear and not just be seen once on the runway and maybe another time on a red carpet.

Runway modeling isn't about just being skinny and tall. The charisma and the overall walking on the runway decides if the model is really 'it'. Regardless of size. Being a runway model is obviously way more difficult than being an instagram model (not against them at all). And this is an obvious fact because the runway/modeling/supermodel industry existed way, way, way before Instagram models.

People think too much about themselves when it comes to professional runway models. It isn't about you, it is about the clothes. The fashion designers use one size, thus they need models to fit those standards. It would be so much work having to fit clothes to different sized models, find all those different sized models and hope that they don't let you down on the day.

Okay but for real Miriam is all ''against plastic surgery'' - one second later she's like ''yeah i've had plastic surgery'', I- hunnyyyyy
Instragram models: Oh yeah we don’t do photoshop that much/ever.
2 minutes later: So yeah I photoshop my pictures so I could look a certain way because bOdY poSiTiViTyyYyYyY
Actually adults still get fucked up. I had to delete my social medias because it was too much for me. And I'm 25
@@jenna8987 good for you
Jennashikari ! I also deleted my Instagram because it was too much. Idk when these models are gonna start being as raw as that dude. Everything he said was spot on and amazing
They literally said that it was just small things and don’t promote changing major things about their bodies.
And 3 minutes later : "oh i had a nose job cause positivity"
We needed this vid!!! I’ve been signed to multiple different agencies in New York, and in Hawaii and I have no social media. It’s very different
What a nice “debate” for a change! More positive conversations please 🙏🏻
Of the instagram models, I only like Chantelle. The other two are exactly what the runway models were criticizing about instagram models.
Now the runway models, damn, they just seem more honest but also down-to-earth?? Very likeable.
funny enough, Chantelle gained followers since this vid was posted while the other two lost followers
❤️
I hate how the girl in the white dress kept trying to argue with facts about an industry she will never know.
🤣🤣🤣 the fact that she looks 40 and not 29.
@@trishabidesi8604 SHES 29?
she really isn't arguing shes saying stuff from her perspective.
Creed Shotgun which is arguing?
Lmaoo like stop talking as though you’re more hardworking than a runway model
It’d be cool to see designers vs fast fashion buyers!
Thank you for this video🥺✨
Insta models: "We want to spread body positivity"
Also Insta models: "I photoshop my photos to look better"
Mia Kala and getting cosmetic surgeries
I'll say it a million times, being overweight isn't body positivity. Promoting obesity is counter productive, unhealthy, and sends a terrible message to young girls and the general public.
Youwillstarvexx I completely agree, self love and self destruction disguised as positivity and diversity are 2 different things and it is disgusting and sends out more of a harmful message to young people like that of anorexia.
@@youwillstarvexx1548 I 100% agree with you on that
The face of Victoria when Jessica said it was OK to be flat 😆
Chelzi Macz
Jessica can get away with it. I have not seen her backside but nowadays even if you have a nice plump small butt it’s considered flat which is ridiculous but yes Victoria looked at her like, “ I could never” 😂
The instagram models were shook
Chelzi Macz could u plzzz tell me when exactly ?

Smile28 thank youuu
the difference between both groups and the energy they give off, the elegance and way to talk is so big, at some point i just wanted only the models to be speaking because damn, let actual smart, not hypocritical and down to earth people talk
instagram models saying it's okay to photoshop your body while spreading "positivity" is sad and funny to me.
I can’t be the only person that hates the word “influencer” lmao. "I'm an entrepreneur" - 20k follower instagram influencer
Nope I hate it too
I agree with you. Everyone's an influencer in a way. We all make impressions on people we interact with and even strangers and passers by. I don't have thousands of followers on Instagram but I still influence those who see my posts. And so does everyone else who interacts or socialises with other people.
I hate it too
it's so cringey when someone classes themselves as an 'influencer' 😬
I despise it too
*ig models: we don't retouch our pictures, we are proud.*
I literally took a look at their instagrams and it is blatantly retouched.
yup. 🙄
You can see the stretch marks on the black girl's thighs on her IG so she seems real asf to me.
They never said they didnt retouch their pictures
Illusion_ Central 6:30-6:44
😅😅😅
It's not just the matter of body positivty. What they didn't take into account is that these runway models are gifted with great facial features (symmetry, ratio etc) that actually seperate them form the mass and in comparison, the influencers are nothing special. You can say they are all beautiful in their own ways but that is something that no plastic surgery can help.
plastic surgery can transform you.
alizee is the definition of a classy and fair french madam.
Never did I think there would be a attractive male model named Gary.
Now you've seen two
three
Also his intelligence and everything idk
vad?
Just take out the r
Everyone is talking about how beautiful Gary and Alizée are, they are definitely, but oml is no one gonna talk about Jessica? Her natural features are so beautiful.
Yeah she is gorg af.
She is so crazily gorgeous
She was by far the most attractive
She's super hot
i can see gigi hadid in her
In my teen years, I used filters and edited my photos and it would make me feel insecure about how I naturally look. Now I've stopped altering my photos altogether and I feel much better sbout myself. These IG models talk about being yourself and loving your body, but there is no way you can truly do that if you feel the need to photoshop your pictures
I love Gary he’s so well spoken
Is it weird that instagram models with their "body positive" make me more insecure than runway models?
i think because it's clear that being a runway model is simply something most people cannot be. so their body types are unattainable. it's almost like being human art. whereas instagram models are just regular people...
Same...
Weirdly enough I think the Instagram models are extremely insecure and are always trying to prove themselves to the point of getting defensive, and it shows. Especially with the amount of photoshop these girls use and the fact that they are trying to defend it just proves how much they wish they could attain an impossible level of perfection, and that's not a healthy way for anyone to think.
I've never felt insecure because of runway models because it is understood that they were born that way- they got lucky, and now they just get to take advantage of it. Instagram models make me feel poor, because I could look more like them with money. But all the money in the world won't make me as effortlessly beautiful as a runway model, so it's easy to look past imo.
I know that runway models get retouched and that they’re Born with their bodytype. But i never know if a Instagram model edits his/her picture, and ik never know if what i see is real.
I see a lot of insecurity from the Instagram models, unfortunately :(
It's not surprising. Their entire career is based on being validated by strangers.
And the professional models are different how ?
@@naayahb4631 models sell clothes. ig models sell their bodies
Naayah Bailey Compare a fashion designer to a random dude
@@Djkhalid1234 they don't sell their body
I cant believe how well spoken and smooth the runway models are.
I guess that shows a prejudice of mine that it would be all about looks for them which i am very glad to learn that im wrong about!
The professional models just look so premium and class above
mariam: im very against plastic surgery
a few seconds later
"ive had cosmetic surgery"
mariam: *starts walking to the chairs*
D T and the photo editing one😹
D T YA!!!!! what a hypocrite omg. and she was so fast to explain herself lol girl bye.
@Isabella Carol breaking your nose doesn't require surgery.
Isabella Carol and nose breaks that DO require surgery wouldnt be classified as cosmetic. She said she got surgery for her broken nose then got the bump removed as well because why not. It was still a conscious decision
JayRaven79 :Gaming well hers did
is it just me or is the beautiful asian runway model who’s 19 much more mature than marian who’s god knows how old ? 😂😭
Emma Boylan she’s my favorite!!
I know right?
wish she was more positive about her race. growing up a lot of asian friends and I wanted to mimic other people because we were conscious about being perceived as stereotypes.
Mariam is 29 I’m dying
饭Kevin bruh, she looks old tho :0
The way the runway models talk and their voices are so nice
I'm in love with the guy's personality and POSITIVITY
Mariam: “I’m against plastic surgery”
*Next clip shows her saying she’s had plastic surgery*
The editors are petty💀
She's saying she loved her bump on her nose and at the same time it make her insecure... homegirl is insecure in general, doesn't have a solid view on anything
It’s not too bad cus she did break her nose 👀
She obviously has had lip injections too... home girl be lyinggg
Raya Marie In what time?
Seems more than just a nose job..
"we don't retouch photos much anymore" ah the lies, the lies
Yeah just 5 hours of Photoshop now rather than 6
Let's just say as girls....we know that's bull💩
Well, nowadays you don’t even need photoshop anymore. You can use AI photo editing apps to automatically retouch your photos with in a matter of seconds with a few clicks.
“One can photoshop oneself to beauty, but one cannot photoshop one’s ugly personality,” (Albert Einstein).
I know 😂 like when you’re runway you’re literally there in the moment so you like have to make sure you do it perfectly you can’t “retouch” a little and she was so pressed because they exposed her lmao 😂
im glad they all got along in the end. both groups were def throwing a little shade here and there
Basically a 23 minute long video of “instagram models” trying to convince themselves that they are also models 🤣🤣.
The fact that the IG models spend hours on putting on makeup and still look like the girls u would see daily at Starbucks and the Runway Models put on no makeup and just how gently they speak and how elegantly walk or sit... Like I always thought that Runway Models always had a mask of makeup but I guess not, I have a lot more respect for Runway Models now✨
Yes! Actually in modeling, especially when going to see clients or agencies... they prefer the models to wear very little makeup so they can see their actual features.
@@missbraindamage also they asked them to not wear accesories or anything, they are suppoused to be like a blank canvas for the outfits of the designer.
The lesser the makeup, the better it is in the modeling industry. That’s definitely true.
Runway models are born....not made.
@@deyanirax87 They're born and made.
The runway models could step into an photoshoot in exactly what they are wearing right now.
Ikr !
Stprincess fr tho lmao
Hey, I'm a small skinny 23 year old Japanese guy. Can I be a model? 😂
Thats what models are good for, everything looks good on them. Thats why all the brands use them instead of me and you
The difference is very obvious
Instagram models can say they don't retouch their photos, but realistically what will we know? they can do it whenever they want and odds are they probably will. Saying that they want to limit the use of retouching is just never going to happen. Instead for real models the photos are never touched going down the runway its there and then so you have to make it count, also it does determine if they get another job too. Still up to this date A LOT of Instagram models use retouch and I can see up to this date which is 3 years later they're still using it, so real modeling is more raw and hard to get into instead of being an Instagram model because yeah anyone can start up and build a community.
