I’ve seen a lot of people say things like “Ubisoft made a better Star Fox than Nintendo,” but if you think about it, Nintendo almost always gets other people to help make Star Fox rather than doing it themselves. Argonaut, Rare, Namco, Q-Games, Platinum... the only one developed solely by Nintendo EAD is Star Fox 64. Coincidence that 64 is the most well-regarded game? Maybe, maybe not. But if there’s a studio I’d trust for Star Fox, it’s Retro. They haven’t made a dud yet.

+Artsy Omni Yeah, quite funny. I need another Star Fox game. Haven't played one since Adventures and Assault on Gamecube. Damnit! I need a Adventures 2 and Assault 2! Those games are so great! Adventures is extremely flawed but despite those flaws, I like it very very much.
I can only hope the rumored Star Fox Racing game acts as a good supplementary until a real game is made. Adventures style or Assault style game is released.

correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Platinum games only worked on making some assets while the game itself was made by nintendo?
If that really is the case i'd LOVE to see Star Fox receive the same treatment Platinum gave to Metal Gear by doing Rising.

ITS NOT A STARFOX GAME. when the team who created the game showed it to each system developer they said ok. however when nintendo saw it they saw potential to mix. They asked the people who developed STARLINK if they could somehow put starfox into the story. this is why its a nintendo exclusive

Cbg exactly, video games by nature are repetitive, you're repeating the same mechanics and gameplay until the game is over. That's neither good nor bad, just a simple fact. It comes down to whether or not you subjectively enjoy the gameplay that you "repeat" until you reach the end.

I can mostly agree with your points in the video but I honestly think this game looks fantastic on my TV. I was actually surprised by how good the visuals look on the Switch considering the frame rate is solid. I've played so many games on the Switch where the resolution would get pretty low and I've gotta say that this isn't one of them. Since this is the second game on the Switch utilizing the Snow Drop engine it's clear to me that it's a good engine overall for multi-platform development. Finally, I will say that if this game didn't have Star Fox in it I would never have bought it because it would be all the worst things that Spawnwave says in this video (this is also why I don't know if this game will sell super well on the other consoles) with few redeeming qualities considering the cost of the game. However, they've implemented Star Fox so well into this game that I'm just having a blast playing as Fox and pretending this is basically just a side-adventure game for his crew whilst someone makes a brand new Star Fox game. After playing this game for about 10 hours so far I'm actually excited about the possibility of a new Star Fox game on the Nintendo Switch where I'm hoping they use Star Fox 64 as a template where you do go to many different types of worlds and space environments and also throw in a little Star Fox adventure where Fox gets to show off his Smash Bros skills in direct combat from time to time. Also, please just make the Arwing moddable similar to this game where you can do different things in different environments without requiring different vehicles like the landmaster or the submarine.

The game doesn't look "fantastic" because first of all you're playing on a low powered Switch. The textures are low res and it has some weird normal map pop in or LOD that makes the models look ugly up close. It looks good over all but not great.

Okay man, I enjoy your content a great deal but I have to make it known that this game is getting a woefully raw deal. I feel the inclusion of Fox, although awesome and I'm happy it introduced me to the game, is massively overshadowing the rest of the game. There is a really solid foundation here that people just want to brush off by saying "Eh it's only worthwhile for Fox." That's a huge disservice to the developers. I really enjoy the characters in this game besides Fox despite the pretty standard plot. They're fun with a lot of chemistry. And the gameplay is really satisfying despite the ubisoft curse of waypoint collecting. Please everyone give this game a far chance outside of Fox alone. It deserves better.

TidyWire I couldn’t stomach the “diversity quota” cast and found Fox and co. far more tolerable in terms of dialogue and personality. If Fox wasn’t in the game, I would have dropped this one.
      Roll call:
Razor LeMay: Badass rocker chick with hairy arm pits and “tough as nails” attitude. “Best Pilot in the galaxy.” Feminist trope? Check.
Shaid: Badass roguish space pirate alien chick with snarky attitude and obnoxious one-liners.
Calisto Chase: Badass adrenaline junky “Latina” chick with a cyborg arm and a huge blonde fro that’s also a child prodigy. Speed-obsessed.
Hunter Hakka: Samoan Buddhist military grunt with no personality.
Mason Rana: Naive Pakistani/Indian dude with no self-esteem yet somehow a genius that creates super tech and a green-horn rookie. Beta.
Levi McCray: Obnoxious white kid “dudebro.” Your typical awful male trope in feminist propaganda that acts as the “jobber” to showcase the intellectually/emotionally superior female (see the first 3 character listed here).
      Judge: Bay-Max.

After watching the whole review, I will add that I would enjoy the game without Fox. I bought the starter kit and Razor and her ship and I played with her for the first hour or so.

@@conventional124 I agree with you guys. Oversaturation doesn't just mean owning multiple consoles. I was growing really bored of games probably last year. because I was playing only certain kinds of games and I considered game genres I wasn't really familiar with a waste of time. I tried a FPS game for the first time ever because it was kind of silly (Super Noah's Ark 3D on Steam :) ) and I actually loved it. I started playing a lot of FPS games, and I decided to be way more open minded going forward. Now if a game looks fun, doesn't matter the genre I generally give it a try. :) Also I find that owning a Nintendo Switch really opens me to a ton of different Genres :)

I played StarFox 64 in my cousin's house back in the day, but my real first StarFox game was Adventures. So for me, part of the StarFox formula is a game that has great flying mechanics, but if possible, some boots on the ground action. That's why StarFox Assault might be the closest there is to a perfect StarFox for me. If they fix the controls for Fox on the ground, then I'd suggest the next developer follows that formula. We could have an amazing game on our hands!

I'm interested to see what kind of DLC they have planned for this when it comes to story/game play stuff. More missions and story like the starfox addition would be welcome even if it stars the main cast, they could use more fleshing out anyways.

You didnt mention the benefits of buying the digital/digital deluxe version once in the video. Yes its toys to life, and its cool to have those physical toys, but honestly you get a much more complete and better experience with the digital versions. I mean, I've absolutely felt this exact way the entire time I've been watching videos about this game... I think I've come to the conclusion I'm going to buy a Star Fox pack and the digital deluxe version. I mean his ship pack is at most $20, so $100 vs like $250 or so for all extra packs and weapons you'd need... I don't like digital either, but I had to but super Mario party digital cause I got it for $36 the night before it released, but I have more physical games in my collection than I do digital (not counting little indie games), but a few digital never hurt, and it's just a much better value seriously...

hey hi there, irl Fox McCloud here; gunna change my username soon but it’s ok, anyways
although 64 was great in reason of console working with game, there hasn’t been a starfox game that has been true to the og formula (64 based from nes+snes prev entries) until starlink. in the canon timeline, 64 is mainly a nesHD version, and it ends on Command. i prefer to think either it’s a “some time after” sequel of zero where they go off to dilly dally and not retire but do jobs without pressure or it’s a “whole other realm” type thing like mm+oot. but also it’s fun to let the imagination go when thinking about canon of sLink :) however the gameplay although limited is by far more freedom with flying freely AND as much of an open world feel as provided. the feeling of guiding on planets after entering atmosphere is amazing (you can stall out and crash lol) and the boost into the storm clouds where that dark oil type rig is……. OOOO MMM CHEFS🤌KISS🤌
final statement: we may never get another Nintendo-dev’d sf game because we all know how they give their B class *still coveted* franchises to other devs for them to have mostly privilege and less intrusive response so 1. it’s close if not better, 2. it gives me more and asks me less than Zero will, and 3. the graphical world they made is astounding. you can’t tell me those voice clips are NOT better than 64’s. im with you there but like, cmon man…….
*sorry for the long ass wiki😅thank you so much for reading🦊*

got it digitally on a half off sale (which put it at retail price for normal games i guess). It wasn't bad, played through it in a couple days when I had a lung infection. It has huge potential, the fighter parts in space plays great.
unfortunately, it has alot of glaring problems. All the outlaw bases up in space are cut-paste, same fight, same enemies, same type of turrets in the same spots for all dozen or so bases, with identical interiors with (i am pretty sure) identical placement of mines. even organic pickup placements are cut and paste for the most part. if you check, all the plants growing on the plains are always in pairs of 2, with identical distance from each other across all plants across all planets.
elements introduced on the first planet never comes back anywhere else, its introduced then disposed of, the progress is mainly grind-building after a little while.
if you look closer, even alot of the animals are reskinned copy-pastes between planets. come on
My starfox storyline bugged and became unplayable without starting a new game.
It was not a bad game, I did have fun with it, but it could have been so much more. It is sad to see that such a potentially great game with such great polish is also so lazily made in gameplay and world building, especially with the insane price Ubi demanded for it just to get to play it with all the weapons. Which, if you don't get, you can't even access large portions of the game and rewards.

I think the scale thing with the grass and such is kind of intentional to represent the toys-to-life aspect. Like the toy you have on your mount is to scale to the ingame model. Although if that's the case the planets and everything else is also realllly reallly tiny. Like if the whole game world would fit onto a soccer field.

I mean I love this channel a lot, that being said this was one of the most bias and mediocre reviews I've seen in a while! You didn't like the game? Fine! But you focus so much on everything wrong on the game! That didn't even bother mentioning the couch co-op? I mean how did you missed that! That is a coll feature, I mean is repetitive yes, I give you that but it's a good repetitiveness, it satisfying repetitiveness. The controls on the ground are really good, and even better in space, dog fights are great, too easy? Up the difficulty, take the auto aiming out and the difficulty spikes dramatically, another thing that didn't mentioned, was the extra estar fox content, and how cool it is! I mean I can go on. Again I love your channel but this review was boderline one of the worst for a channel with this quality.
