At (12:15). It is my understanding that Physical Starter Packs include 1 toy and one digital ship. So one is good for Co-op. And yes, one can play Co-op with the Digital versions.

I have played so many great games because of you sharing your passion with us. First I played Phantasy Star 1-4 because of you. I loved all of them, and even though I'm a big RPG guy and would have mostly likely played them eventually, you were the first person I heard talking the series up so much and the reason I sought them out in the first place. Then I played all of the Ys games (except for Memories of Celceta, Strategy, and the Japan-only PS2 remakes) because of you and the series retrospective that Game Sack did. Those games were incredible, and without you the series would have felt too daunting to get into. It still seemed daunting at first, but it was because of your passion that I didn't give up. Lastly, there are Shenmue I and II. I just beat Shenmue II last night, which is why I wanted to leave this message today. I was aware of the Shenmue series and I remember how hyped the fans were when Shenmue III was announced, but I'm not sure if I would have played I and II without you. It's a hard series to sell people on because it seems like it would be boring. "Well, in Shenmue I you walk around, talk to people, buy capsule toys, and eventually you get to drive a forklift." And then there were all the reports of glitches in the rerelease that would have scared me off completely if I hadn't heard so many good things about Shenmue from you. And I'm so glad I played these games. Shenmue I and II were two of the greatest games I've ever played. They're also the first two games I ever got platinum trophies for. They were incredible experiences, and after I beat the first game I waited a few days before starting the second because I needed to savor the first game a bit more, like eating something delicious and not wanting that taste to go away. I have been hoping and praying for a Rogue Squadron sequel/remake for a long while. I thought Battlefront 2 would haven given me a taste of that, but nope. I just hope that with StarLink I get a something similar. I am patiently waiting for my copy in the mail today.

Got it the day it dropped not knowing it was 'toy to life' game, and ended up buying all the weapons and an extra ship. $140 in total for this game and the extras.. i'm not even mad. Very fun and action packed.
I just picked the deluxe digital version up on Switch for $40. It's actually a lot better than I thought it would be. The deluxe version has all the extra stuff included, which I'm glad for because I feel like the toys would just be another thing for me to misplace. I'm genuinely impressed with how huge and seamless the world is, and the sheer amount of things to do. Definitely a solid game, and the Star Fox content is a nice bit of nostalgia.
I think star link is best suited for the Nintendo switch because of the star fox started kit with the ship. I’m happy to being able to use a pro controller and just keeping the jet and stand for a cool collection to have bro.

It showed promise, but god damn Ubisoft and their open world side quests. Fetch this, destroy this, hack this, save this, etc. If you go out of your way to explore the first planet, you've essentially discovered pretty much everything the game has to offer. That said, if you don't mind repetitive tasks, it's fun to play.

Growing up I didn't play video games so the aspect of Star Fox being in a game really hugely appeal to me until you hit the end of the video and couch Co-op was brought into it then I was sold!!
I personally hope this is how they approach all the next Starfox games in the future after this I want ubisoft to have full control of the Starfox franchise
I got the Switch version so I could play as Fox in his Arwing. But I got the digital deluxe version. There is a lot of repetition, but you get a lot of XP and in-game currency when completing those tasks.
I bought digital so I don't know if I can put my weapons on backward, but how cool would it be if putting on the flamethower backward gave you a speed boost or something? Also yeah, I'm thinking of buying the starter set even though i already have the game digital because I want that Sweet Arwing toy.

My life literally consist of playing video games and working out. I watch your videos while I workout and get super nostalgic. I'm a 90's kid, so hearing about your gaming experiences in the 80's introduced me to so many games I want to play, that I have never played before. My Backlog is insane, but im determined. I was thinking the exact same thing, especially when choosing the planets it reminded me of how you would choose your route and each route had different diffuctlys etc.

The Playstation version should have had Ratchet and Clank and their ship as their exclusive content. As for the Xbox version maybe a character from Halo and one of their UNSC ships. The fact that Ubisoft showed bias towards Nintendo and apparently didn't even try to give the other versions similar offering as their exclusive content to make them more appealing is a big oversight on their part.
I got into this super late because i found some starlink ships at dollar tree. Bought the starfox version tho and having fun with it. Basically new age starfox game

Wait can I not buy the toys and still get the arwing digitally? Like through dlc? Because that's what stop me from buying lego and skyrim because I couldn't find all the rare toys
In space there are "Gravity Caches" that require levitation weapons to open. I searched for almost an hour before concluding that you need to buy the weapon to get the gear in these chests.
Maybe I don't really need all of these toys for modding my ships in the game, but honestly I love starfox toy ships, after all I'm a starfox fan from childhood days and there's still a child in me of course, i really love starlink game and I thank Ubisoft for including starfox into the game.

Star Fox zero should have been a game that used its motion control as option instead of its main design element. Also it should have never had the gyro copter
My problem with Star Link is that Ubisoft has everyone so busy telling you that you don't need the toys that they actually forgot to have a place online where you could really get a good look at all the toys! I still have no clue what is coming out outside of the starter set and when!
Wow. Since switch has come out, it actually feels like they listen to fan input. Every complaint I've blogged about, from lack of new fighters, to peripherals, to the need for a space exploration game, they've constantly addressed.
I said this elsewhere but I'll say it here too, it will not surprise me at all if the Switch version outsells the others by a pretty decent margin, much like what happened with Soul Calibur 2 back in the day (the data is a bit old but you can find stories from back then that show the Gamecube version did indeed sell many more copies than the PS2 and Xbox versions... which really makes me wonder why the hell Namco hasn't ported SC2 HD to the Switch yet so we can have all three guest characters together). I know I'm picking this up on Switch for sure.
Actually the PS2 version of SC2 sold more and by more then half a million. You also have to look at the fact that there wasn't a lot of GameCube fighting games compared to the PS2.
Not sure how I feel about this, I think sega's afterburner from the late 80's is one of the most ambitious and exciting things I ever saw, even space harrier was kind of like that, that is the spirit they need to bring back, fast moving games with that sense of urgency.
Despite being graphically inferior to the other versions, the Switch version seems to be the definitive version. I may prefer physical over digital, but when I buy this game I'm going the digital deluxe route to have all the ships and content unlocked, without the need for the toys.
sold lol, your review and fox being a playable character is what did it for me. WHAAT HAVE I DONE, at the end of the day i get a cool game with alot of content and a arwing to pose on my desk. I said I wouldnt get another toys to life game but this looks so much worth it.
On switch you also get a digital version of the ship you get in the PS4 starter pack and a digital version of the shredder weapon you get in the PS4 starter pack.
Come on, most of the game also require to do the same thing over and over again, so making it fun to do it is the point, and I think this game hit the point.
Nice little review... but think it might have been tainted by it being a free copy? Also, I would had been sold if it was just a StarFox game and not another game with the StarFox bolt on. Sounds ok, but not enough to buy into it for me.
I finally got so fed up with the background chatter that halfway through the game, I just took speech volume to zero and muted everyone. I enjoyed the game so much more after that.
The fact that Ubisoft decided to release a defect game cartridge was enough for my interest to completely die. If I'm gonna get it at some point, then maybe I'll go digital once it's really cheap. If they wanted to do a physical release, then either pony up with a cartridge with the complete game on it that won't require a 6GB patch to even function or don't even bother doing a physical at all
Played it for a couple hours and it already feels like I've seen everything this game has to offer, also there's loot you can't access unless you buy a weapon with the right element
I will only buy this game on switch when it is dirt cheap because of the day 1 download that is needed to play. To me the day 1 download means it has no physical copy, so the value has dropped. What a shame.

so get a micro sd card?? 4gb is not a lot compared to other games, almost every game out on other consoles requires a download of 20gig or more to build a world this big is going to take a lot of memory and until Nintendo lower the prices of cartridges over 4gig most companies will only fit the essentials on the cart and have the rest as a digital download. I really don't understand peoples problems with a download for a game this big and expansive
no, Its not the fact the SD card is expensive or not it is because if i buy this game at full price with the game no fully on the cartridge and in ten years when they no longer support the game, my switch breaks. When i go out to buy a new switch to play the game I have purchased and maybe all the figurines i have bought also, none of it can be played. IT IS ALL JUNK. Maybe they should have made a little less plastic crap and maybe spent a bit more money on a larger cartridge size. But that is just me, you do whatever you want to do.Also the money i have did not fall from a tree. If i give them my money which i worked hundreds of hours for then i must have faith in their product in the future, which i don't. so they can swivel.
I am not talking about the SD card being expensive,I am talking about the cartridge the games are on, if you aren't nintendo, developers of switch games are only provided with 4 gb of space on that cartridge which is an insanely small amount for a game nowadays as a developer you can pay for bigger cartridges but its hella expensive and why would you do that when you can have part of the game as a digital download. so having the base on the cartridge and having the rest as a digital download is perfectly reasonable secondly, If you only buy games that you're going to be able to play in 10 years then you must buy literally no games.
Starlink is a good game. Need on line battle and camping. It has so much potential. But. Graphics: 9 Controls: 9.3 Story: 8 Play: 6.3 (is so repetitive) Fun: 6 when colectin stuff (farming) 10 when battling. Love when play out the planet.

I heard Fox appears in the main story and that they actually put in the extra production to implement him into the cut scenes. Is it worth playing through the game as a story driven starfox game? Its seems a bit overwhelming with the gameplay.

My question is, I love collecting all the collectibles in-game, but would I be forced to collect all the toys to unlock all the collectibles in-game? Get the digital version, if you somehow get a second hand physical version without the mount and toys than you'll essentially be locked out of the game since you need to use the mount at least once to start the game.
Here's a quick question: If you could only get either two weapon packs, or a ship pack, which would you pick? I'm thinking weapon packs for the different options.
I live this game, but why is no'one talking about how bad the controls were placed? You can't boost and turn at the same time unless you use the claw technique. This could have been fixed by allowing the option to swap the sticks. I would be really angry about this if I didn't have an Xbox one elite controller that has paddles I can use instead.

Funny how most people are buying this game just to play as Fox McCloud. They should have just made it a stand-alone Starfox game.
They did: Star Fox Zero, and I heard it wasn't too good.

Starlink seems like a amazing game
Johnny basically only tolerated it because of the Fox McCloud inclusion and stated that it got boring and truthfully I can see what he's getting at.

I was thinking the exact same thing, especially when choosing the planets it reminded me of how you would choose your route and each route had different diffuctlys etc.

The Playstation version should have had Ratchet and Clank and their ship as their exclusive content. As for the Xbox version maybe a character from Halo and one of their UNSC ships.
The fact that Ubisoft showed bias towards Nintendo and apparently didn't even try to give the other versions similar offering as their exclusive content to make them more appealing is a big oversight on their part.
Sony and Microsoft dont care enough about this game. Nintendo worked out a deal with Ubisoft and even helped develop some of the Star Fox stuff.
I got into this super late because i found some starlink ships at dollar tree. Bought the starfox version tho and having fun with it. Basically new age starfox game
My 1st playthrough will be 100% starfox. No extra weapon. Pretty hyped

In space there are "Gravity Caches" that require levitation weapons to open. I searched for almost an hour before concluding that you need to buy the weapon to get the gear in these chests.

Maybe I don't really need all of these toys for modding my ships in the game, but honestly I love starfox toy ships, after all I'm a starfox fan from childhood days and there's still a child in me of course, i really love starlink game and I thank Ubisoft for including starfox into the game.

Yep; this game doesn’t have cut scenes on one screen while you’re supposed to keep paying attention to flying on the other.
Star Fox zero should have been a game that used its motion control as option instead of its main design element. Also it should have never had the gyro copter
My problem with Star Link is that Ubisoft has everyone so busy telling you that you don't need the toys that they actually forgot to have a place online where you could really get a good look at all the toys! I still have no clue what is coming out outside of the starter set and when!
It makes me wonder how well it would have done without the Start Fox branding. Ubisoft seem to be handling Nintendo’s IP’s rather well.

Wow. Since switch has come out, it actually feels like they listen to fan input. Every complaint I've blogged about, from lack of new fighters, to peripherals, to the need for a space exploration game, they've constantly addressed.
I said this elsewhere but I'll say it here too, it will not surprise me at all if the Switch version outsells the others by a pretty decent margin, much like what happened with Soul Calibur 2 back in the day (the data is a bit old but you can find stories from back then that show the Gamecube version did indeed sell many more copies than the PS2 and Xbox versions... which really makes me wonder why the hell Namco hasn't ported SC2 HD to the Switch yet so we can have all three guest characters together). I know I'm picking this up on Switch for sure.
Actually the PS2 version of SC2 sold more and by more then half a million. You also have to look at the fact that there wasn't a lot of GameCube fighting games compared to the PS2.

Not sure how I feel about this, I think sega's afterburner from the late 80's is one of the most ambitious and exciting things I ever saw, even space harrier was kind of like that, that is the spirit they need to bring back, fast moving games with that sense of urgency.
I got the starter kit for switch and I'm not disappointed in the slightest.
Despite being graphically inferior to the other versions, the Switch version seems to be the definitive version.
I may prefer physical over digital, but when I buy this game I'm going the digital deluxe route to have all the ships and content unlocked, without the need for the toys.
sold lol, your review and fox being a playable character is what did it for me. WHAAT HAVE I DONE, at the end of the day i get a cool game with alot of content and a arwing to pose on my desk. I said I wouldnt get another toys to life game but this looks so much worth it.

Id probably get it just for the Arwing toy and mess around with the game when bored. Seems fun enough
On switch you also get a digital version of the ship you get in the PS4 starter pack and a digital version of the shredder weapon you get in the PS4 starter pack.

Nice little review... but think it might have been tainted by it being a free copy? Also, I would had been sold if it was just a StarFox game and not another game with the StarFox bolt on. Sounds ok, but not enough to buy into it for me.
I finally got so fed up with the background chatter that halfway through the game, I just took speech volume to zero and muted everyone. I enjoyed the game so much more after that.
The fact that Ubisoft decided to release a defect game cartridge was enough for my interest to completely die.
If I'm gonna get it at some point, then maybe I'll go digital once it's really cheap.
If they wanted to do a physical release, then either pony up with a cartridge with the complete game on it that won't require a 6GB patch to even function or don't even bother doing a physical at all

I will only buy this game on switch when it is dirt cheap because of the day 1 download that is needed to play. To me the day 1 download means it has no physical copy, so the value has dropped. What a shame.

@mazrimalthor the game on switch needs a 4gb download to play. The whole game is not on the cartridge. I find it weird nobody reviewing the game mentions it.

4gb is not a lot compared to other games, almost every game out on other consoles requires a download of 20gig or more
to build a world this big is going to take a lot of memory and until Nintendo lower the prices of cartridges over 4gig most companies will only fit the essentials on the cart and have the rest as a digital download. I really don't understand peoples problems with a download for a game this big and expansive
no, Its not the fact the SD card is expensive or not it is because if i buy this game at full price with the game no fully on the cartridge and in ten years when they no longer support the game, my switch breaks. When i go out to buy a new switch to play the game I have purchased and maybe all the figurines i have bought also, none of it can be played. IT IS ALL JUNK. Maybe they should have made a little less plastic crap and maybe spent a bit more money on a larger cartridge size. But that is just me, you do whatever you want to do.Also the money i have did not fall from a tree. If i give them my money which i worked hundreds of hours for then i must have faith in their product in the future, which i don't. so they can swivel.

as a developer you can pay for bigger cartridges but its hella expensive and why would you do that when you can have part of the game as a digital download.
so having the base on the cartridge and having the rest as a digital download is perfectly reasonable
secondly, If you only buy games that you're going to be able to play in 10 years then you must buy literally no games.
Starlink is a good game. Need on line battle and camping.
It has so much potential.

Fun: 6 when colectin stuff (farming) 10 when battling. Love when play out the planet.

I kinda like the fact they're always talking, they're always talking about story related content or side missions. Saying a heavy loot based game is repetitive is like saying a hoes only shoots out water.

Does that mean all the ship module and weapon can be bought with in game currency or still I have to buy it with real money? similar to Disney Infinity where I have to buy all the character and level digitally but using real money..
I totally forgot about this game, Johnny! I don't have a Switch, but if I did, that's the version I would get because of Star Fox. But I'm sure it will be fun on the other platforms as well.

I heard Fox appears in the main story and that they actually put in the extra production to implement him into the cut scenes. Is it worth playing through the game as a story driven starfox game? Its seems a bit overwhelming with the gameplay.
Will i be able to change characters weapon and upgrade guns and ship without the toys? Will i be able to do everything without the toys as if i were to play with the toys? Or are there things that may be left out?

Yes you can do all that without the toys.
Switch version : inferior visuals, far better character = most of the sale. Ps4 = far better visuals, forgettable cast = low sales.

Would rather have a proper Starfox game that is 100% in the Arwing. No more running around on foot or controlling a drone, or a tank, or etc etc. Just let us fly the damn plane.
My question is, I love collecting all the collectibles in-game, but would I be forced to collect all the toys to unlock all the collectibles in-game? I understand the starfox one is exclusive to the switch, but are there other exclusives that will only be unlocked by buying the plastic toys? (another way of saying it)
I really wish they would release a physical version that doesn't force you to get the toys.... then again it is their main business model, so I guess the only option I have is to wait for a second hand physical version... never the less, I must say the graphics looks beautiful for the Switch version though
Get the digital version, if you somehow get a second hand physical version without the mount and toys than you'll essentially be locked out of the game since you need to use the mount at least once to start the game.
Here's a quick question: If you could only get either two weapon packs, or a ship pack, which would you pick? I'm thinking weapon packs for the different options.
I live this game, but why is no'one talking about how bad the controls were placed? You can't boost and turn at the same time unless you use the claw technique. This could have been fixed by allowing the option to swap the sticks. I would be really angry about this if I didn't have an Xbox one elite controller that has paddles I can use instead.
Can you change weapons/pilots/ships mid game play without having the toys and mount? Really keen on getting this game to play without buying all the extras as mentioned if this is a feature.
