Yes! Another ripping Van Halen cover!! Brother, you crushed this, and you were just tearing that Wolfgang up ! Awesome song. Killer guitar. Monster tone. And a fantastic cover. You are just one heck of a player, and you do the Van Halen stuff so well. My all-time favorite Band by 2 miles! There will never be another EVH... or VH for that matter. Never. You rocked this, bro! Rock on!!!
I think you're starting to get the hang of it...😁😁 But seriously, it really is crazy you don't have more subscribers than you do. I have watched a ton of VH content since UA-cam's inception and would rank your guitar covers among the best if not the best ever uploaded. The least I can do is let you know that I appreciate every minute of time that you put into doing these. I'm sure it is a labor of love for you but it's total ear candy for me. Keep up the great work!
In all honesty, I think I did figure out a LOT from Aftershock. If you mess around enough, you are bound to have some moments where things come together. For me, it was how he got that sound. It only took 30 years! Haha. And thanks John for the support. Sometimes it feel like I'm in a blackhole with the channel so it is really nice to hear this kind of support! Thanks again! :-)
Thank you, you beautiful son of a Scandinavian Sheep Herder!!! Badass cover, AWESOME playing. Thank you again. Looking forward to more of your work. RESPECTFULLY, L. Albert Jackson Munoz 👍😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don’t know why I haven!t ran across your channel before! I am totally blown away at not only your playing, but your knowledge of how King Edward got his tones! Neurological issues in my old man arms and hands have somewhat robbed me of much of my past ability to play. So now I can live vicariously through your playing on your channel! Looking forward to more of and appreciate your videos and the work it takes to make them! Including your originals!
Welcome aboard! So glad you found the channel as well. I hope I can do all the songs justice for you and I REALLY appreciate you taking a listen to my original! Thanks so much!!
Awesome cover. So glad you jumped into the Balance album. One of my favorites. Question- how did you do the W/D/W with your Kemper? Or did you add the effects in your DAW?
Thanks Jeff! Balance was because you requested it. So for the w-d-w, the Kemper can't do it because you need to be able to have a dry signal. The Kemper, to my knowledge, can't split an effect. So I no longer use the Kemper for any effect other than the flanger. Reverb, harmonizer, delay, etc are all in the DAW. It is really nice too because you can record with a dry signal then add stuff later. If you record with effects then you got what you got. Know what I mean?
@@TheRetroGuitarist I am trying to teach myself some recording techniques w/ AUD Apollo + Logic, and your explanation makes total sense. I am just using a real amp w/ a Two Notes Captor to bring my signal into my interface. Thanks again for taking my request!
Always enjoy your VH takes and was really surprised at this deep cut and how your mix or remix of the material brings out elements that were missing, i.e. Mike's amazing bass groove on this one. I revisited the tune and am also floored by Alex's playing and blissful tone. Great EVH playing as always but you brought out the fun factor on this. That's a high bar to meet!
That is much appreciated! It isolate the instruments one by one (drums, vocals and sometimes bass), then put each one on their own track, then I mix it down. The bass isolations often times end up sounding bad so I'll play the bass parts. The vocals can have some guitar bleed as well so I have to clean them up too. This stuff takes a LOT of time.
Great cover. I love the melodies that evolved from the Sammy-era of VH. Not present on the DLR era. Alex's drumming also got really laid back and effortlessly cool too. I love raw innovation of the DLR era but the progression they made musically with Sammy doesn't get talked about enough I feel.
Thanks! I agree. They were a different, more refined band with Hagar. The song structure with Hagar is more complex, in general, too. Once you try playing this stuff you realize just how nuanced the songs and Ed's play was.
I loved the way you improvised the end solo. I just learned drop dead legs and that outro was rough. I’d like to throw some of those licks in. Hope to see that, take care.
Yea, those things are toughest part of the song. I just practice going up and down the neck with the octaves until my hands know where the notes are automatically. It's like singing and playing at the same time. One becomes automatic after awhile.
This is a great tune off of an criminally underrated album.
No Doubt!! It kills me that Balance is so overlooked
Yea, and when I started learning this stuff and listening to it, I realized I under appreciated it as well!
Balance is one of my favorite VH album..😊
I totally agree!!

Damn that tone is awesome! Nailed the song as usual 👍
Thanks! I think I'm finally understanding how to get his tone. Not there yet but it is getting closer.
👍👍👍 These riffs and chord sequences are what fascinated me so much about Eddie. And then this incredible rhythm accuracy! Brilliant musicianship!
Couldn't agree more! Eddie was one of a kind with more than just fast tapping passages.

Wow, thank you! I do in fact herd sheep at times! Haha!
Wow….you are a true student of the King. Killer as always!
Thanks Bryan! I'm trying...
That was simply awesome cover. Looks like you’re in your zone and having a blast playing this one. Smiling just like Eddie would do. 🤌🤘👍
I’ve really enjoyed watching your channel grow and admire your dedication and playing. Keep going 🤙

No problem. Thanks for being a big part of the channel. Do you have any recordings we could hear?
@@TheRetroGuitaristno recordings yet. Not the player you are. 😎
really good
Really great playing. Always in control, exceptional phrasing, just like the recording. 👍
Thanks so much! I really work on the control thing a LOT.
Thank you for your GREAT PERFORMANCE❗❗👍👍
Thanks for listening
@@TheRetroGuitarist Thank you so much friend❗👍
本当にありがとうございます😍😍
Very nice! Yes, an underrated album with great songwriting.
Agreed!
You have many great vids but I believe this one may be the most spot on...and that is saying something. Well. Done.
Wow, thanks Jet! I think it might be because of the sound breakthrough I made recently.
Fantastic
Thank you so much 😀
One of my favorite songs from the Hagar era
Bravo very nice sounds killer!
Thanks!
Never heard this song. Damn it funky!
Welcome aboard the VH train.
@@TheRetroGuitarist been on the train. I’m a 80’s guy. Just never heard that song
Maybe I should say Welcome aboard the VH 90s train! :-) I had no idea this album was so good until I started doing some of the songs.

Many thanks!!
I don't always comment but when checking out your takes I make sure to give it the thumbs 👍
Thanks! It's always nice to hear from you guys!
"Killer!" Appreciate your guitar skills.

I like the way you improvised the out solo in drop dead legs. Could you show us how to do some of those licks? Please!🤘
Thanks! I think I could do a breakdown video of some of Ed's licks.
I loved the way you improvised the end solo. I just learned drop dead legs and that outro was rough. I’d like to throw some of those licks in. Hope to see that, take care.
Sounds gorgeous!! Well done!! ;))
Thanks a lot!
sweet! looks like you had a good time recording this!
I did!

Such a badass tune.. I always screw up those octaves at the end of the first solo haha

Great tone man!!! Are you using Fractal or something like that?
Well done brother.
Thank you kindly!

Welcome!
Eddie would be proud.
👍🏻👍🏻❤️
Where did you get that red Wolfgang? Thats badass!!
It is a 2016 version that they don't make anymore. I LOVED the color and the mat finish. I got it off Ebay in 2021 after looking for months.
What profile are you using its killer makes the playing even better
I plan on doing a video about this soon. Stay tuned.
@@TheRetroGuitaristoh excellent! Looking forward to tuning into that .
I like this style of video, and your watch! Like always bad@ss!
Yea, it's a new camera. A real one now not just some webcam or Gopro. The videos should start looking a little more professional now. And thanks Perk!
Did u repaint the headstock?
No, I think this lighting in the room is what you are seeing.
I loved this album. Sad that it was Sammy's last with them. :'(
It really is sad. Going back and listening to the Balance songs made me realize how I underappreciated this album.
Did u swap Floyd’s?
No but I did changed the fine tuners to a gold color.
他の音を下げて ギターの音をもっと聴きたかった😅デジタルエフェクトじゃなく アンプからの音だよね?
素晴らしい!
Thanks! I have a version with no vocals too. I use the Kemper with effects in the DAW.
i thought its kenny loggins playing guitar
Not a fan of that tone.Feels like i'm drowning in a chorus pedal.
I assume you're referring to the beginning part where that is the flanger. Past that the effect is not on.
Nice!!
Thanks!
