- Luca Pretolesi Mixing and Mastering Willy William & J Balvin. This tutorial covers Luca's final stem mix and mastering of Willy William "Voodoo Song" which was re-released by J Balvin 1 year later as Mi Gente, and then a 3rd release featuring Beyoncé. The Voodoo Song was originally produced/written by Willy William and mixed by Phil Greiss in 2017 then given to Luca for stem mastering. "Mi Gente" was nominated for a grammy and has become one of the most streamed songs of the decade.

@@psysword lol, "just Fabfilter MB doing the work there", like the plugin just loaded itself into a specific track and done the work by itself without anyone's lead/tweaks. Watch your mouth mate, cause kids might take that statement too seriously. Stop giving credits to the tools, just ask Luca to mix with just the DAW's stock plugins as a challenge on the same song where you're mixing with the most expensive plugs out there and i promise you he'd still destroy your ass. Plugins doesn't mean Taste / Vision / Experience. It's not Fabfilter ProMB doing the work, it's the mixer who used it and how he did it.

@@costinvaly1 I agree with your comment on where he would destroy anyone with standard plugins is correct but I have got to be honest with you since I bought fab filter plugins a couple
of months ago my mixes have gone up 10 fold. They are incredible and the features they have are crazy good. Pretty much only use Fabfilter now and soundtoys. Also plug-in alliance to a certain point.
Some people may easily take 10 years to reach the level of knowledge compressed in this 13 minute masterclass, amazing.
It's crazy the amount of dynamics this song has while being loud at the same time.
Luca = GOAT of mixing\mastering.
Gotta appreciate how he literally throws gems of knowledge if not secrets for free and for anyone to enjoy.

In the sidechain part, is he ducking the kick or the instrument. Or is he ducking everything else in the instrument except the midrange? What exactly is happening?
Dj Plink sidechain with compression just in that range of thevocal
He is expanding the midrange of that vocal triggered only when the kick hits= louder when kick hits and normal when there is no kick = more dynamic !

in parallel only above 4k to be exact
guys, contrast it's still important no matter what. He doesn't go "auto-pan everywhere", he's specific with it. Just because you'd put it everywhere over all your drums it won't make you any better, maybe worse at best. Because there's a great quote stating about contrast in life: "If everyone is a winner, then there's no winner no more." If everyone affords a lamborghini, then the lamborghini wouldn't be perceived as a special car anymore. Also, everything-the-same = no dimension a.k.a one dimensional, because there's no clear sonic variation. Variation is what takes a one-dimensional material sounding 3D. Be wise.
