We were honored to provide the acoustical design for this beautiful studio. Amazing studio, even better people at Studio DMI! We can't wait to visit in a few weeks to hear the final result!
Truly appreciate you all for your time and effort with this tour. I really enjoyed the design of the whole space and the overall aesthetics. Even though this isn't the general purpose of the tour, I'm a bit curious of the budget as I'm considering to make investments into my new creative space. Thank you all and God bless 🙏
Out Of All The Setups Ive Seen(I've seen a lot) This Is One Of The Better Ones, Very Purposeful And Functional , Good Job On the Explanation , Shout out to the Camera Person too,,,,Word
I am presently in Europe, and I tell you, this studio can only be imagined and executed in the United States of America. Give credit where credit is due.
The facility looks amazing. I have Trio 6 BE at home and love working on them. One observation after watching the video was the lack of visible high quality AC power conditioners and cabling. Its often a weak point on the pro side of things and a part where studios could learn a thing or two from the audiophile worlds. Conceptually is very simple - keep the noise floor low so you don't mask the fine details you are expected to process, don't loose or degrade info in your signal paths, and don't let the signal be changed without your express intent. I have learned it is remarkably easy to wreck what starts out as good audio with crappy power bars, AC cables, wall outlets, and poor signal cables. What I see in the video does not inspire confidence. BTW I have seen people try to condition at the main electrical panel ( Maybe done like that here?) . That never works as there is too much inducted noise captured along the way to the gear for that to be effective. I think they could take this studio over the top with a bit more attention to these finer details in system design. I have spent big bucks on the AC and cabling in my tiny home studio and it makes a big difference. Its really roots and foundational so the investment in good equipment can really shine. Sometimes its not about all the glamourous gear and eye candy.
This is truly a world-class studio, hats off. Not sure I follow the 7.4.4 Atmos logic versus 7.1.4 or 7.2.4. And sadly, I have to admit that I have not heard anything at all from any of the recording artists mentioned at the head of this clip.
it's probably just mono bass with duplication for better dispersion / control of room modes. some subwoofers today come with LFE in/out expressly for daisy-chaining like this while still only taking up one output on the audio interface
Very nice but alot of the problems mentioned that people have when mixing at home such as bass problems is mainly down to them not using a reference track.
Hi Luca, I hope that you will make episodes about hardware and routing because you use more than one converter at the same time, especially with Metric Halo ULN8 you use it as Hub, so it's not clear. and how to route between two patchbay : Dangerous Music LIAISON &SPL MC16 Mastering Monitor Controller. really need a long Episod about routing and working flow
Immaculate acoustic design is a bit more common than most think. Any world-class facility has no real choice but to spend lavishly on room acoustics. The great majority of such rooms however, do NOT put a large computer display smack dab in the heart of the stereo soundfield. The reason should be obvious. I have found arm-mounting to be the only way to go for the display in the center, so it can be dropped out of the way when not editing. You will not find an acoustic design anywhere that includes a large flat panel right on top of the console bridge. In fact, console bridges are lower than ever to protect that very special area for listening. A display low and to the side is an enormous improvement to any mixing room acoustic.
I have the same Monitor Focal Trio and I would like to understand why in the mastering room, unlike the producer room, the position of twiiter are inside (center) instead of outside (external) , is it better to have a narrower focus stereo image in the mixing ?
Bcz that will give a false sense of image! Also the low frequencies will start collapsing as they are closer the modal spot of the room which is the center of the room
@@PlatinumMastering yes it does, placing 90% two-way monitor designs on their side makes the tweeter dispersion vertical and not horizontal. no sweet spot. it also causes phase shifting at its cross over.
@@PlatinumMastering it makes a world of difference…! Only very well trained ears will notice the difference in sound in terms of certain frequencies during mastering.
there is a lot of hype right now, but being honest I think its just quite a passing trend. Still remember that time everyone claimed 3D in cinema was going to be the next thing and no one would not watch in that format. yikes
good music is suposed to sound good even on one speaker .....90% ppl need only a beating hypnotic rythm to call it music ....and some cool few words repeating ...i realised that after doing some automatition programming for days and nights and months ....they just dont care about that art part at all
@@DBTHEPLUG point? 😅 i've (or anyone in studio) put so much hard work on detailes and them do not even notice it ....averidge listener have real bad speakers
i was just watching about, when music used to be more then music ua-cam.com/video/3yAqL-Jtqy4/v-deo.html ....so i'll share it with u ....music was everything to us when i was growing up ...it was sound ...today its video ....and 90% information average man is recieving throught eye senses ...that is the the point

Wow! Lot’s of money spent that is for sure. However these guys returned the worst master I have ever heard in my life, and it even had an obnoxious audio message from Luca included where he explained what he did to “fix” a perfectly good mix. The master was almost worse than the unmixed production ref mix. Impressive - unfortunately not in a good way 😂 unusable, total disaster. On a good note, my mix with a limiter was in the national radio top 5 for 12 weeks. Drake album sounds questionable to say the least.
I love the chance at getting to see inside a world class recording studio but man you guys need to work on learning how to film these better. There were so many times that you lost focus or that I was distracted by the flickering of the LEDs in the studio because they didn’t match up with your shutter speed. Lots of little issues with camera positioning and losing focus. Please learn how to use your camera for filming better for future videos. Rent a nicer camera if you have to.
Man, you need to work on learning how to not be so distracted. There were soo many times you could have covered your eyes. Lots of little issues with your complaining and moist b*tching. Please learn how to not be such a prude for future comments. Rent a nicer monitor or sun glasses if you have to.
*It is sad to see that facility in LAS VEGAS of all places and they are using PRO-TOOLS, when that place is right in the back yard of the ONLY digital platform on earth, that is Analog Silk Smooth in the box and a 25 Console Replacement just to start. I have a studio myself and first I noticed was the amazing design. I would love that for a room I'm working on.
Gavin, you did a fantastic job on these rooms! Studio M sounds amazing in this video.
awesome!
For a well known mixing and mastering engineer he is the perfect example Pro tools is not the only industry standard D.A.W.
It was Logic? Pro tools is still industry standard in College and Universitys curriculum.

In the dance music industry none of the pro engineers I know use pro tools. It's good, and quick for live music recording and editing
might be the coolest studio ive seen. but whats even cooler? THEIR FRIENDSHIP
Luca Pretolesi’s studio room is very historic because many of the hits we hear are being mastered in that room before it was heard by a billions. 🤯
Luca uno di noi, col caffè Borbone da 20 cent a capsula rimane umile e ci fa sentire meno poveri.
I can’t believe how identical Studio M is to mine. It just goes to show, that research pays off! 👏🏻
These rooms are next level. Stunning!

Always love hearing from Luca. He’s changed the way I work on my own mix/masters. Great video and great tour.

Make sure to take constant breaks if you’re monitoring 80+
Huge distance between Focals and sub. No any delay adjustments in spl desk. Interesting 🧐
Huge? Maybe 3 feet or 1 meter. Oh well, whatever.
Thanks for making me feel so broke

A 98-inch LCD display on the front wall or a projection screen that size or slightly larger is what you need then.
from where comes the table in studio M? Looks like Zaor Table.
My dream
do they Monitor now in separate computer 💻? AD capture in logic ?
Oh my god
Turn the lights on Sir........
amazing. I'm an artist. hopefully one day I would make it to your studio
Hope is a good thing. Keep doing your thing, you'll get there...
Never heard of one single band you mentioned
Luca is mostly known for his work with electronic DJs, pop artists, and hip hop. Not very often traditional “bands” in those genres
