Great video, but the attack and release in Pro L2 work differently from the ones we usually found on most limiters and compressors. From the manual : "Apart from the fast 'transient' stage, the limiter has a slower 'release' envelope stage that responds to the average dynamics of the incoming audio. The Attack and Release knobs control how quickly and heavily the release stage sets in. Shorter attack times will allow the release stage to set in sooner; longer release times will cause it to have more effect."
Great tutorial. The remendations for attack, oversampling, lookahead are spot on. A lot of UA-camrs just throwing this up with default settings where it doesnt sound as good as other plugin alternatives.
Damn perfect timing..... been using pro-l for ages but all day today have been trying to learn more about how to actually dial in the settings rather than just leave on default and turn up gain. Thanks man. Beat gives me alina baraz X galimatias vibes
Idk how I didn't find you sooner. All these tutorials be boring as heck. I love how yours are to the point, informative & funny as fuck at the same time.
personal tip! In mastering stage, ONLY for club version, i do push the volume to -7 lufs using more than even 4 limiters, as i look for -1db reduction on each one till i reach what i want. Digital sound temps to break easily and this is a good way to achieve nice loudness and clarity. Of course, if you don't have a great mix you won't have a great loudness.
@@shoonrobben733 Yes, i do!, don't worry, CPU wont die!. It will take like 15m to render, but Quality is there, focus on mixing stage, wait for next day to master it, hear again if you like what u did and happy mastering stage. Perfect example would be Raito - Dark Orb or Soul Arrow, that guy does an outstanding mixing and master
Please help me with a video tutorial on how you mixed and mastered this particular beat and voice to sound full the way it's sounding. Please I want to learn from it. Thanks
it doesn't hurt anything, though it's exactly as he said in the video: the distortion that's present with less oversampling can give it a crispness and more oversampling will usually be closer to the pre-limiter signal. Personally, I always use 16-32x oversampling as I think it's clean sound is where the Pro L-2 outshines other limiters; I would go with a more colored limiter or soft clipper otherwise
i wouldn't suggest mastering for -14 LUFS for anything, master to the loudness which sounds right for your genre, don't worry about being turned down, better this way, than being a lil too soft just to hit a number which makes no sense anyways. use your ears! i would suggest to leave up to 1dB of peak headroom for conversions, so there won't occur any intersample peaks, but even that depends on the song.
I definitely agree, it doesn't matter as long as there is no clipping, Skrillex apparently got his lufs to -3 to -5 ranges, when I mastered my first track and put it at -14 lufs it was way too quiet for the genre
i really like mastering between about -8 and -10 lufs (short-term). gives me plenty of loudness but also doesn't kill the song (louder mixes can get to -7 or even higher before it begins to fall apart)
Hey bro checkout some dancehall trap vybz kartel ,squash6ix boss ,intence yengboss, nottnice records ,a few examples I just want to see your take on that type of music bc your a very good producer in my opinion
Hey, I have a novice question that I’m sure someone could help with. I’ve just bought this and I love it. I really like the gluey sound when I dig in by about 3db or so. when I’m getting 3db of reduction my LUFS are up at about -6-7. I’m looking for -14. When I turn the gain down to get -14 LUFS, the limiter isn’t touching it and it sounds spikey and not as good. How can I turn it down, to get -14LUFS, while still limiting it to a pleasant sound? Thank you.
Use whatever LUFS level sounds best for your song style. Spotify will automatically reduce it to -14 LUFS when you upload. This is what actual mixing and mastering engineers suggest when I ask them about their target levels 👍🏻

This comment should be pinned to this video. Thanks for this info! :)
Yep both the attack and release control the release. 99% of the UA-camrs don’t get this right.
realest quarantine haircut in the game
shush pea brain
My girlfriend is mad cause I noticed your haircut right away and never when she gets hers done
Unkle Ricky that’s disrespectful 🤣😂
Best comment in the history of UA-cam!!!
I don't think you would notice too when she's cheating on you 😂😂
Stop lieing u have no gf
Oh you messing up😂😂
I always have to watch these tutorials twice. The 1st time is purely for the comedic value, then the knowledge value.

Your videos are effective and entertaining at the same time.

Whoa 😳 that’s a lot of limiters haha -7 lufs integrated??
@@shoonrobben733 integrated might be -7.5, indeed a lot of limiters, but applying 32x oversampling on the final render makes a huge sound diff
@@Max-C-92 thanks for the tip! Do you apply oversampling on the previous limiters as well?

this is dumb just maximize then limit
Despite practicing social distancing for a very long time, I haven't gotten any better at it.
Please help me with a video tutorial on how you mixed and mastered this particular beat and voice to sound full the way it's sounding. Please I want to learn from it. Thanks

Great tutorial again bro. Just got your 808 kit, holy shit those hit hard
Amazing format !! for Tutorials !! I really like the muñeco !! :D
So are you bouncing out two masters at two different levels? Or are you using one loud master and letting the streaming sites turn it down?
This was exactly what I needed to know. Thank you.
the video i needed, thanks
Great info again🤙🏽

Best limiter ever
great video. what happens if we master for CD lufst and upload it on Spotify and other online platforms?
DevaStation Crew the platform will play back your upload quieter so it matches the other -14 songs
The "Ker - Kee - Kah" part had me dying laughing!!!
GREAT Video! > SUBSCRIBED!
Is it a good idea to always keep the oversampling at maximum level when exporting?

BRO where do i get that Octopus light? Thanks for covering the FabFilter L2 it's my go to as well

Very useful tuto bro !!! Thanks😉
What channel strip do I put the limiter on, is it the vocal chain, beat, or both?
The final thing on the stereo bus/master buss.
Ayyy 😀 I just copped this last week 😀
Please read the documentation regarding attack and release this is not a compressor..
