You can do that on Pc. Modders released a texture pack as well, so it looks up to date.

As a PS4 owner I look at the X's backwards compatibility with envy.
OwtDaftUK it's really sad that Sony isn't doing their customers this service. A huge library of old PS3 and 2 games are at their finger tips, and they aren't taking advantage.
Cause, Sony want you to buy new games and make them more rich.Cause of this, I can't see ps5 supporting ps4 games and hardware.
I don't think it's possible for them to do PS3 because of the CPU but the fact they won't even let you play your PS2 games I think is a bit cheap.
OwtDaftUK if the Xbox one can play 360 games then the PS4 can play PS3 games, I don't think the CPU has anything to do with back compat.

Game still looks good for being 7 years old.
It really does. But I don't like the animations, even when I played through it in time for Witcher 3 the game looked good in stills but kind of jarring in motion. Just a personal preference though.

It's a great looking game, primarily the shadow dithering, and inconsistent dialogue animations as low points, TW2 is superb looking.

Hi guys ,first off thank you for the quality content !! Secondly ,is it worth you guys uploading and keeping the video private until the 4k encoding has finished then release it to the public ? I'm pretty sure Linus tech tips and many others operate like this but it may not be viable for you guys to work like this.
DigitalFoundry that cinematic depth of field with ubersampling was always known as a framerate killer i remember i played witcher 2 on 680gtx back in 2012 with ubersampling off and cinematic depth of field of apart those 2 all was maxed out and i downsampled from 2560x1440 to a 1080p and it ran beautifully more an average of 50fps with some drops to low 40's.
And if my 980ti can do 1080p with ubersampling(4k performance hit)without that cinematic depth of field at 60+fps with a few drops below 60, then you could have done the same with a regular 1080 at 4k just disable the cinematic depth of field the game regular depth of field is beautiful enough and the performance hit is not worth it.
The lighting looks noticeably better on PC than xbox one...

Well the Xbox one X version is the 360 version but enhanced you can't change code so drastically where frame rates and fully blown ultra textures are used

They absolutely could, it would just require going back to the original code and putting a option for an unlocked framerate.
It would still be the 360 code, it would just need a patch to enable it. It's not the first game to have an option in a 360 game to remove the cap, bioshock, bioshock 2, bioshock infinite, and saints row 3 are examples.

The backward compatibility versions are the versions I was referring to. They had an option even when they were released on 360 to uncap the framerate. It usually dropped the v-sync on 360, but with bc it forced v-sync so it uncapped it, but didn't have the screen tearing on xbox one hardware. I'll suggest you look up digital foundry's backwards compatibility video on bioshock 1 & 2 as they explain it better than I can. Saints row 3 never came to current gen outside of backwards compatibility.
The fact that they got Witcher 2 running on the 360 looking good and at a reasonable frame rate is impressive.

Sure, the PC version of Witcher 2 maxed out (even without Ubersampling) looks amazing, but damn, the X360 version at 4K with the stuff the X1X does looks jawdropping all the same.
PC ver honestly looks more jaw dropping to me.
The 360 was not an excellent port....it was barely playable with drops down to 14 FPS. It was a ballsy endevour however to port it to 360.
Christopher Scott Please provide proof that it ever dropped down to 14fps! I played through the game twice on 360 and NEVER saw it drop below 24-25fps on its most demanding scenes or sequences. No one who has played or reviewed the 360 version has EVER stated that the game dropped that low. Quit lying to yourself!
Just out of curiosity you can tell 24-25 fps? for me it's either fluid or choppy (regardless of game)

Xbox One X is running a emulated old Xbox 360 game @4K, the textures and assets are untouched but you still get great results in 4K on the Xbox One X

Yeah 3 has too big map for and too much ?. For first play it won't matter but on second and next play it matter (Sorry for grammatical mistakes. U know what i mean). Witcher 1 and 2 don't have this problem. Witcher 3 is good game with a lot of stories in every location (Kaer Morhen, Biały Sad, Novigrad, Velen, Skellige, even Wyzima).

Yselian I have heard that the code was a mess for witcher 2 so that may be a reason.
Yselian Its the 360 version being enhanced so obviously there will still be limitations, they cannot change the game completely, so they didnt remove pc assets they werent there in the first place from the 360

From a PC gamer perspective, this isn't bad at all. I own the ps4 too and wish they had something similar for ps3 games, what they have now is a terrible solution.
Just as well RPCS3 is coming along nicely, that'll be your solution in the near future.
I believe emulations on PS3 titles is nearly impossible due to the complicated nature of the cell processor. This was the main reason all multiplats ran at lower resolution and worse performance than the 360. I can imagine emulating it must be a nightmare, let alone increasing resolution and adding AA like microsoft does through hardware.

Hm...not bad. Especially on the Xbox One X; however, I felt that it was a little weird to leave out the regular Xbox One as it would have been neat to compare the two alongside the 360
Daniel Pierce default xbox one just does a 360 emulator, only the X is upgraded towards 4k on the backwards compatibility games
It'll be a similar story to every other game on back compat. No screen tearing, higher texture filtering quality. Great game, definitely worth picking up

Man, the Xbox team should really be proud of their work with 360 emulation. Higher-level geometry out of an emulator? Frankly, that's amazing.
This game has that Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines effect on me where seeing just a little of it makes me want to replay the whole thing all over again.
Definitely gonna revisit this game on my X1X now! Xbox is KILLING it with the back-compat games looking/running better on the X1X!

Yeah, on pc I would probably turn off that depth of field effect too, some of those scenes looked better just due to having that turned off on the x.
I remember how graphically demanding this was on PC when it released. Playing it on max settings with Supersampling was madness!
I liked the story of Witcher 2 more than Witcher 3.
It's closer to what books were about. I also prefer some other aspects of Witcher 2 to Witcher 3 - which an amazing game, but W2 as far as I am concerned is the closest we ever got to the books. Wild, ambitious and riddled with difficulties during development, I think this is CD Projekt's most impressive achievement to date.
If someone told me that TW2 was a current gen game I would've believed them, this game looks pretty good even by today's standards.
Actually witcher 3 looks not that much different, just bigger world, and better lighting, without stupid one color filters, which are not seen in this video.
I played this on 360 first, despite owning the PC version (couldn't run it). I was blown away how 360 could handle this game. Played PC version last year after beating TW3 on consoles, and damn, it still looked great.
The witcher 3 has a much better interface but the story of the witcher 2 as superb, not including w3 expansions which were brilliant
Witcher 2 had always that strange yellow-ish graphics/effects filter on it's envoronment.
Seems to be almost GONE in the X-version which makes the game look almost totally different!

Isn't there two versions of the PC game? There is the Standard Edition and Enhanced Edition (Director's Cut) on Steam.

Even though I had Witcher 2 already for my PC, I bought Witcher 2 because I preferred to play third person games on console. However, I just can't get pass the vertically stretched look. It is very noticeable if you have played the PC version.

So to sum up the vid: CDproject Red made a good port of The Witcher 2 on Xbox360 and it looks even better on Xbone; however, PC is still master race.

A lot of people prefer the light on Xbox, it's just "better". PC's light is "dumb".Did you disabled "Ubbersampling" on PC? At 4K it's not necessary.
He did say, "with ubersampling turned off no less" when mentioning how taxing the game was to run at 4k.

backwards compatibility is alright,but all and all,if you really want to have a better 4k experience for the witcher 2,just get any gtx 1060 pc from amazon,or build your own like a lego set,and run 4k 60fps witcher 3 with texture mods.Not to mention the absurd prices from most 60 dollars to 40 dollars for a year of multiplayer,its better right now to own a ps4 pro for exclusive single player games and pc for multiplayer without having to deal with greed and locked behind a subscription games which you can get cheaper and permanently yourself.But take my advice,just wait 2 years after the release of ps5,to get the next gen gtx cards and intel cpus,if you are new to pc.
This port is good for xbox gamers who already have the game. If someone wanted to play this game in 4k, the best way is to do it on PC.

YES! I still have a poster of TW2 in my home. I WISH Iorveth was in TW3. I wanted to know more about his personal life, background, story - and wanted him alongside me. He was my favorite character in TW2.. there was an air of mystery to him, and a charm. Wish CDPR at least included him as a big expansion.. alas..
one just cannot fully appreciate the magic of the Witcher 2 ....its atmosphere, artstyle, music, ...geez..i loved the game years ago but after I saw the game in this video ..there is only few games with such a strong magic
Xbox x looks better than pc. On 360 you had better colors and more natural lighting - without the overbearing bloom on PC - but the sub native res coupled with hideous texture filtering and fxaa really muddied it. Still looked great for a 360 title though. On X everything's fixed and honestly Witcher 2 benefits far less from 60fps than Witcher 3 does.
Also the 360 version has more responsive gamepad controls.
It truly looks great, Microsoft did a great job with this enhanced version for the Xbox One X. I always wanted CD Projekt RED to add the more natural lighting of the 360 version to the PC version. Even if the PC version has better textures, shadows and effects, the 360 version looks more pleasing to the eyes. The PC version has too much bloom and saturation, also it has unnatural character shading.

The 360 port was very impressive considering the hardware limitations. Not only did they retain the beautiful art direction of the PC original, but in my opinion the colors of the 360 port actually look better at times.

As a PC gamer i have to say that i was really amazed when i first saw The Witcher 2 running on a X360, in theory it should not have even been possible due to hardware limitations, but CD project red pulled through and made an exellent version, for the obvious dowgrade here and there it was actually The Witcher 2 running on a console. Such a talented team.

PC still looks leagues better... Microsoft's infatuation at cash grabbing from resolution fappers is hilarious. Resolution doesn't beat a smooth frame rate with higher settings, and never will.
That framerate was virtually locked to 30,, that means it was smooth. And also slow, but smooth is a description of consistency not speed.

The PC version looks so much better! 😂 I do agree that that jail scene did look better on the X, in regards to lighting. Although I'm pretty sure the enhanced version with the lighting fix is also on PC.

Some of the best graphics 2011 had to offer. Skyrim, the War in the North and LA Noire were released the same year, and weren't comparible (at least without mods).
Then again, other amazing looking games were released that year such as Crysis 2, Space Marine, Arkham City.
Everyone needs to support CD Projekt / CD Projekt RED. Seriously, buy their games even if you don't plan on playing. They are definitely one of the good ones. Respect!

Which is nothing more than an absurd statement by Richard. Of course the game is demanding at 4K maxed out on PC, partly because of the depth of field that's mentioned throughout. Turning that down or off alone would send the frame rate drastically upwards. It's just nonsense that continues to perpetuate the myth that you need a Titan Xp or 1080Ti to run anything at 4K on the PC.
I’ve also noticed that Geralt’s face looks smaller or thinner in the Xbox Console. Thank god I got the Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition because I get to see more of those upgrades

This one's really nice. I'd like to see a game that ran @native 720p with unlocked frame rate, but performance frluctuating as low as 20, running on the X. That way, we could really see the full power of the emulator. Imagine the original game running @720p30 while the X does 4k60, that would be AMAZING.

In my opinion, consoles should be compared to consoles. PC Gamer will always be ahead in processing power and hardware. I find a comparison without a fit between a PC Gamer and a video game console. Everyone is bald to know that a medium-cost or high-cost PC Gamer will be superior to any powerful or equivalent console.
The Witcher 1 is still the best one, hoped the sequels would continue that. Sadly not.

Debatable, the pacing of the story and the voice acting are measurably better in the series 2nd installment.

Have this on pc and on 360. I downloaded on 360 since the wife took over my pc a while back( works from home and needed powerful pc). Well, after playing it on pc it was hard to play it on 360. Now, playing it on xbox one X it is very enjoyable. Kudos for Microsoft and their backwards compatible team!!

Good job guys! I am currently playing through TW2 on the Xbox One X for the achievements but if you don't care about that then there is no question that the PC version looks much better. It looks great visually by todays standards and I'm really surprised to hear Rich having trouble running the game at higher framerates since TW2 runs pretty solid on my old outdated PC. The X1X has some weird textures which probably not meant to be displayed at 4K and there's tons of pop in. Still such an amazing game and I am eternally grateful to MS for making this game backwards compatible with 4K enhancements. I tried playing this on the One S and couldn't do it. Was just too ugly!
