Rowan Atkinson is a comedy genius. He is best known for his comedy skits & sitcoms "Mr. Bean" & "Blackadder". He's also done a few "Mr. Bean" & "Johnny English" movies. His physical humor & facial expressions are priceless.
@@stephenshampine11 Rat Race is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and Rowan’s performance is definitely a high point there. “Eet’s a race! Eet’s a race! I am ween-ing!”
he has also a bit "speech of the father of the bride or something which is hilarious. I have this that bit from another German performer and just later learned that Rowan did it as well. No idea who was first or maybe both took it from someone else but it's really funny.
Rowan is easily one of the funniest people alive. He's been on talk shows and just with his face, just his eyes he can floor an entire audience with very little effort.
Rowan Atkinson is the real name of the person playing Mr Brean. He is such a versatile actor and played many other roles. It is really impressive he does it all without speaking a word. You could have someone do the voice over in a different language and it would still work just as well. This whole show was great, it is called ‘Rowan Atkinson live at the theater’.
A discotheque is just a name for the disco halls that were common from 1977-1982 in the US and the UK and all of Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America. You would hear this in America all the time (Saturday night fever, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, KC and the Sunshine band, ect._)
Just him, on stage, reading the 'School Register' has to be one of the most hilarious, intelligent and brilliantly performed comedies ever. What utter fun from just reading out names - amazing!
Most people would just call it a disco but this is an academic lecture so naturally the instructor uses the more formal full version of the word, discotheque.
Britt, your hair looks wonderful! Yes, Rowan Atkinson is his real name. You’ve got to see him as the Devil doing orientation on the first day in hell, or as the school master having a conference with a boy’s father. Hilarious!
In the beginning I wasn't sure if you just didn't know Rowan Atkinson at all or if you never heard his real name before. I'm glad it was the latter one. FYI discotheque or disco (more common) is indeed a sort of club where they play music. It's the same or at least similar all over Europe in each language. It's so common over here that I found it quite amusing that you didn't know its meaning. Funny how in the U.S. they use a differnet term.
Lol loved it Britt! Please you have to react to Rowan Atkinson Toby the Devil. BOTH the old and the new version!😆😆😆 You’ll know which is which by Rowan Atkinson’s (Mr. Bean’s) age
The other person who's actually talking is Angus Deayton. And discotheque, is just the full version of the word "disco" as in "Panic at the Disco", which of course, is basically another word for "nightclub", specifically one, where dancing takes place.
7:52 The term is _discothèque_ and is French for a nightclub (later, brought into English and spelled the same but without the accent mark). Its use this way is from the 1950s, although of course it was coined a few decades before that.
Discoteche, was the name of dance clubs in and around France during the 70's and 80's where you would go to listen and dance to Disco music as well as other types of music, where Record Albums took over for live Bands. As it made it's way to the United States the word Discoteche was shortened to Disco or Disco Club although the hipper crowd did refer to them as Discoteche to try and look cool to the times and fashion of the era.
My kids got me a red letter day to a Vinopolis in London, where you learn about wine and have some samples. They teach you the right way to taste wine and you'd be surprised at the difference it makes. First it's only a small drop in the wine glass, you swirlit around 3 or 4 times then smell it. That's called the nose. You find you can smell individual aromas that make up the wine. Then you take a sip, swill it around your mouth and spit it out. You can really taste the wine much better. You may smell oak, or vamilla, lemon or grass and it really does work.
Rowan Atkinson is amazing! You have to check out the drum skit! New sub here, loving your reactions. If you don't have Jim Croce on your list of music reactions, please add! He is amazing - Operator is one of my favs.
I'm from the UK and (nearly) old enough for this to be relevant. What was the Disco (short for Discoteque) are now called Night Clubs or Clubs. The narrator is using the long form of the name to make it sound like a stuffy, academic type lecture
He has a comedy Special called "Rowan Atkinson Live: One man shows". Although he has the gentleman from this video narrating and acting out some sketches with him, it's a fifty-fifty mix of sketches with and without talking.
His Mr. Bean character and his character in 1990s The Witches are the first things I remember seeing Rowan Atkinson in but his Johnny English films, The Lion King, and Love Actuality are probably what I rewatched the most.
"Mr. Bean" is for sure Rowan Atkinson's most famous character. His skill at mime and silent, or mostly silent, comedy is supreme, for sure. His face, his whole body is extraordinarily expressive! But he is also extremely good at verbal wordplay and witty delivery, as well! He had a whole stage show filled with these kinds of mime, mime with narration, other kinds of skits and sketches, in "Rowan Atkinson Live," from the early 1990s. A whole menu of bite-sized skits ripe for reactions; it would be a pleasure to watch you watch them all. "Blackadder" is a four-season show, each season set in a different period of British history. That show features Atkinson's witty repartee and clever wordplay. "The Thin Blue Line" is another TV show, this one set in a small police station, where Rowan is the chief of police, dealing with a motley crew of characters. That show is a personal favorite of mine. I'm assuming you've seen "The Lion King," where you might remember a certain bird named Zazu? If you only know Rowan Atkinson from Mr. Bean and this sketch you will not have put the name to a voice, but that's him! The animator's had fun giving Zazu Rowan's thickly expressive eyebrows!
Rowan Atkinson is the actor/comedian who plays Mr Bean. He also starred in a comedy series BLACKADDER as the main character Edmund Blackadder in episodes covering different periods of history from Elizabethan History to the First World War in the trenches in France. Google and check them out. Here's a fact you may not know. He collects and races classic sports cars (Jaguars, Porsches, Alfa Romaeo) and has won many races.
Hi Britt, I was lucky enough to do a wine certificate in the UK and my teacher explained the correct way to drink it with one simple rule. ENJOY IT! the only other tip she gave which changed the way I drink wine was to; take a sip, hold it in my mouth, and move it all around my tongue to hit all the taste buds, and to do so without fuss. Does anyone disagree with her?
Yes, Mr. Bean is Rowan Atkinson! He's brilliant. Some of my favorite Britcoms star Rowan Atkinson, especially Black Adder - there are several seasons, each one a different period of history. Some seasons include Hugh Laurie (House MD), Stephen Fry, Robbie Coltrane... the first season, Rowan plays the 'silly/dumb' character, but he reverts to the 'clever/sarcastic' character on the others.
watching mr bean has been a favourite activity of mine for decades. it has only been in the last 15 years or so that i have "discovered" rowan atkinson.. you might enjoy his skit "welcome to hell". don't know how to really describe it; utterly hilarious, brutally savage, but in a very witty, understated british way
This is part of a frikkin´ hilarious 1 hour show - you should check it out 😀 My class did this bit at a high school morning assembly and got a standing ovation - it´s brilliant
I think that ypu would enjoy his four Blackadder series. The four series are set in four different historical time periods; the 1400s, the 1600s, the 1800s, and World War I.
Discotheque - Pronounced Disco-tek, it's a French word I believe, hence all the unnecessary letters that are unpronounced. As you may have guessed, most people shortened it to just Disco, but technically, you'd go to a Discotheque, to go to a disco (ie a dance) and listen to disco music (dance music). And of course, when disco (the music genre) became unfashionable, they dropped Discotheque and started calling them Night Clubs, or just Clubs.
You should watch some black adder skits…very funny! Yes Rowan Atkinson is the Actor who plays Mr Bean…he talks about being Mr Bean on the Graham Norton show…is very funny as well.

Rowan atkinson, while being silly when portraying Mr. Bean, actually has a master's degree in Electrical Engineering. And if that wasn't enough, he's also a huge racing enthusiast and has owned and crashed some of the most exotic supercars 😆
Please react to the video: Rowan Mr. Bean Atkinson - Vicar You've done a lot of content on religion and comedians, so I thought it might be a good fit.
I have never heard of Rowan Atkinson. I do remember a movie or something with Mr. Bean, but I never watched it. Growing up in a very rural area of West Texas this kind of humour really doesn't resonate with me. We all have different likes though, and that is what makes this world great. As always I love your reactions Britt.
If you liked Mr. Bean you will like Black Adder. It's another comedy show starring Rowan. It is absolutely hilarious and has some future famous actors in it. Hugh Laurie, the actor playing House on the TV show is on the show in later seasons.
My favorite of this series of standup sketches by these two is called "Fatal Beatings" (link: ua-cam.com/video/fZMoB6ms2mE/v-deo.html ). It's darkly hilarious.

In the US we do/did use the same term. Discotheque was used in the 1990s and died out, apparently before young Britt's time.
"Discotheque" is seventies-speak for Dance Club.
Lol loved it Britt!

the LINK to the original video is missing :( - and R.Atkinson is an extremely interesting person with a surprising vita.
Angus Deayton is the narrator
I'm pretty sure that was John Cleese presenting him as well.
The narrator was Angus Deayton. His appearance is not entirely dissimilar to Cleese, but he is in fact a completely different British comedic actor.
Disco Tech was what he said.
Check Black Adder - he is fantastic there as well.
