The show was to celebrate Prince Charles birthday. He asked Rowan to perform this particular sketch as it was his favourite. It was updated to this performance.
That was part of a special performance for Prince Charles birthday, and that routine is one of his favourites. So much so that he had personally requested for Rowan to come and perform it again, its actually a much older routine but was amended slightly to bring it up to date.
This is actually called "A Warm Welcome", and is a re-warming of his old skit from the show you reacted to earlier. The original is much better due to the more practiced flow. Thank you for reacting to more Rowan Atkinson :)
From England, we have a weird rivalry with the French so it’s makes sense to the British viewers, and even my French friends loved them being called out. Its all comedy in the end 😂😂😂
Defence lawyers have one of the most thankless jobs in the world, but it's absolutely crucial that they exist. Their job is to make sure that the defendent gets the _correct_ punishment for their crime, so they have to put forward if there are mitigating circumstances or, if the client declares not guilty, they have to stand by that, they have to challenge the evidense so no one is judged on false charges.. That's what their job is supposed to be. Unfortunately, it's not always reality.
It's not that lawyers are lying, but they have an ethical standard in what they provide their clients. Also, it is standard that every defendant is entitled to proper defense. It's morally imperative. You can't pick and choose. Sorta like free speech. I hate Nazis, but they have every right to utilize the 1st Amendment without recourse. Now, lawyers can quit (unless it's a public defender/court appointed). But lawyers are to work for their client, and look out for the client's best interests. And they're not allowed to betray their clients or former clients, except in certain circumstances. Just like in certain circumstances the 1st Amendment doesn't protect some kinds of speech (calls for violence, threatening violence, yelling fire in a crowded theater).
It's the Princes' Trust (Young people realising themselves in terms of work, business, or vocation) fundraising event for Prince Charles birthday called 'We are Most Amused.
I’ve seen an earlier version of this same sketch on here a few times, this one is slightly different in a few places. The Americans weren’t in the original, I’m guessing Rowan added that part so he could fit in a Trump joke in order to make it more current.
in the original version there are no Americans. and the French are placed in a common pit with the Germans, "so they have something to talk about," as Toby explains. Damn brilliant!
Lawyers do not lie...(in court that is) Seriously, it's incredible this needs to be said. Their goal is to make sure the OTHER party does their diligence. Whether that is by actually proving the guilt of their client in a legal way or by giving the accuser the best tools to get their outcome. Anyone who deals with lawyers on the regular understands their use. I've used them to get money owned(apparently some people think they get to decide what my job is worth and ignore the price they previously signed up for /facepalm. Like...they NEVER win this...they agreed on a price beforehand, seriously...) to me as well as to stop slander against my business(shitty employee that got fired, it happens)
Lawyers do not lie in court. The purpose of a defence lawyer is to keep the prosecution honest. In other words, they are not there to protect bad people from the law, they are there to protect good people from bad prosecutors and bad judges. If an obviously guilty person goes free, that is the fault of the prosecutor, not the defence lawyer.

Well that would explain the Americans bit. I knew had seen this before, but that was new.
I had not seen this updated version! Thank you!
He used to call out the Germans before, not Americans lol. He also used to end it by turning it over to Adolf. lol
Tysheen should definitely watch Monty Python's Life of Brian.
happy belated birthday young lady
This is not the original sketch from the 80’s. He changed things around to suit modern times.
I`m glad you enjoyed that, here`s another for you to check out. Rowan Atkinson - Teacher roll call

Nicely put, except that's the joke :-)
A lot of pretentious twaddle. The point is they rob you blind. Please don`t overthink. Liberal is another word for pseudo intellectualism.

That's right. In the original it was the French and the Germans, because "I am sure you got a hell lot to talk about" ... 😄
Love your reactions.
But (sorry) you could use the J key to back up a little after pausing, it helps keep the flow of the comedy.
Prince charles and camilla were there.
In Hell yes
Have you shown Mr. Bean to your kid? I have shown him to kids at 5-7 years, they think he's hillarious.
