I've been shooting with a kit lens for more than 3 years, it's a af-p 18-55mm but i'm looking to upgrade too. Once again your content hasn't dissapointed me ever. Good work man

The 18-55mm af-p is actually a pretty solid lens, I was quite surprised from when I've used it. Thank you again for the support man, I appreciate it.

The Z 50-250mm is an excellent kit lens. Even with other Nikkor F-mount glass (with the FTZ adaptor), I favor the Z lens for the focusing sharpness and weight. It’s the lens that’s attached to my Z-50 at all times.

The 50-250 is OK for landscapes, but I think there would be other better options, like using the FF 24-120 (I know when this was posted, the 24-120 may not have been out, but I would consider that, even though it's a bit heavier, it does give you an equivalent FL of 36-180 but you do get a consistent aperture throughout. It obviously isn't very cheap (like $1100) but IMO if you have the Z6 and Z50, the 24-120 might be one lens you can use on both for the same thing (landscape) but at different [equivalent] focal lengths. I mean if I was to pick a super tele for landscape I guess the 50-250 would be fine, although I feel that the adapted 70-300 FX AFP might be a tad better, but you said you didn't want to use the FTZ and that's understandable. (I would not recommend the 24-200, although on the Z50 it might be OK since you're using more of the center of the lens, it does get very slow at the l ong end, so there is where the 24-120 is actually better, despite being a bit shorter). The only downside to the 24-120 is it's not stabilized (doesn't have VR) and neither does the Z50 (but the Z6 does) so it would be OK on the Z6 handheld, but would have to be on a tripod if you were shooting in low-light on the Z50 (landscapes that is, if doing handheld, you'd just have to increase your ISO a bit).

@@410AK tough to say..if I was starting from scratch with the z50 , I would definitely get the kit..if you already have the 70-300, it works great on the z50..optically, they are both really good..if I only had a choice between the 2, it would be the 50-250..only because it's smaller and lighter because of no adapter needed and was made for the z

There is nothing wrong with "plastic" as long as they use the right one. There's a difference between PVC, PP, PE, PU, ABS, NBR, EPDM, PEEK, PES .. crosslinked, blended, particle reinforced, fiber reinforced.. Lots of "plastics" are way lighter and stronger than steel.
You do realize that big chunks of cars and planes are made of "plastic" these days do you?

Since I already have 4 f mount lenses (including a 70-300mm), and in Greece they don't sell the kit with both lenses plus the adapter, I can only buy one of the given choices. So I will buy the 16-55mm plus the adapter. I would love to get into the z system but the cost is too high for me.

    Nikon 70-300 AF-P f / 4.5-6.4 vs Nikon Z 50-250.
I am planning to shoot motorsport.
    Requires fast autofocus and clarity.
    In our country, Z 50-250 $ 130 more expensive.

I have z5 and 70 300 VR G lens. They working but AF very bad. Normally G lens opens maximum for easy AF but with the FTZ adapter, ít closes the diaphragm bfor the AF tracking start.

I actually liked the 50-250 (if you're comfortable with aps-c), it's a bit longer than the 24-200mm and also cheaper. If you're considering it but worried bout IQ then you should get it because image quality wise it's quite good.

Sounds like you are describing a disposable lens. Plastic lens mount and cheap "plasticky" feeling with a wobbly inside.
But for the price, it sounds like a reasonable addition to a Z lens collection/stable.
    Thanks for your post.

  • @r1berto1
    @r1berto1 3 роки тому

Mostly because of your recommendation I got it at Best Buy. It has since been returned.
I though it would be a nice addition to my Z lens collection. I use a Z6.
    Why I returned it:
1.) focus left much to be desired, Yes, it would auto focus but much of the time it was a bit soft. (especially trying to telephoto outdoors.)
2.) because it is a (DX) lens, using my Z6, that 50mm is really 75mm and so forth.
3.) it was plasticky, loose and it felt cheap.
4.) I found my self having to use a tripod, it still was not as sharp as the rest of my Zs.
Don't forget, You get what you pay for.
I just ordered its replacement the Z70-200 2.8 S (looking forward to it)
No, I am NOT a Nikon expert. I have only been using Nikon cameras and lenses for the past 51 years or so.
    My opinion was based on using the Z6 with a Z50mm 1.8 S, Z80mm 1.8 S and the kit lens the camera came with Z24-70 4 S.
    THANK YOU.

    • @TheProjectPhotography

Well to be fair the 50-250mm is supposed to be used with a crop sensor camera like the Z50. Using the 50-250mm on the Z6 will only get you 8MP images, probably why it's so soft. The 70-200mm is an incredible lens and I have full confidence you'll enjoy it.

Got the Z 70-200 2.8. It is a huge hunk of heavy class. Incredible images, using a Z6 it is a heck of a replacement for that DX 50-200mm. Thanks for your input.

For a travel, I think it's okay, unless you worry about, the background a bit, then not. You can go easy in different zoom range.
The Z-kitt lens from Nikon, is different
It's more cinematic, then the F series, comparing from generation.
    That's why the Z-kitt lens,
    from Nikon looks good.
Im not really a fan from zoom lenses or big primes. But if i have to make a choice and save money, in zoom ranges yeah i will take it.

    • @TheProjectPhotography
      @TheProjectPhotography  4 роки тому +1

The Z lenses are certainly something else, I think that the F mount stuff still works great. But the Z series is just something else.

@@TheProjectPhotography Yes the F, lenses work fine, the Z lenses is bit nicer and cleaner.
      I have this one,
      14-30mmF4s landscape and 30mm streetportrait.
50mmF1.8s portrait, with more light, and dark situations.
105mm F1.4e full body, and full blurry background. If i put this one on a DX body than i will have a bigger zoom.
