A6600 is the top range of Sony apsc. It’s not cheap, not light. The target market is for those who already have owned many apsc lenses to have longer life battery apsc camera. Otherwise, I would recommend a7iii or new a7c. The new a7c could have very close weight or size to a6600.

The lack of UHS-II really doesn't help with clearing the buffer as well. They should've added 4K UHD 60fps even if it came with a 1.2 or 1.3x crop and 20mins limit. Overall A6600 is great a solid APS-C camera

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  5 років тому +1

Yeah... no UHS-II is an interesting move. Heck, I would take 4k/60 with a 10 minute limit - just for broll. This is a solid camera for sure - is it $500 more solid than the a6400 🤔

Thanks so much, again, for this video (I rewatched it today). I have now had the Sony A6600 for almost one year. I love the image quality I get for still photography. The camera is small for what it does and perfect for us travelers. My two issues: menu system is obtuse and IBIS is among the worst for those cameras considered for videography. Still, IBIS is fine for me when shooting stills and I'll use the weebill s when I travel. Again, I love this camera and am committed to the Sony body style.

I like Sony a6xxx body design most than what the camera can do. It’s sleek with a minimalist touch. No protruding viewfinder head on the top plate. The a6600 design plus factor is that it no longer has a built in flash and the more it is sturdier. It’s a design mark for pro cameras. Also, the larger battery it has now and it’s bigger grip effect distanced itself from the other a6xxx models. I use the a6600 as my get up and go camera along with my Nikon system.

@@TechGearTalk Nothing too recent. My last major camera purchase was about 12 years ago and back then I spent about $3k. I want to invest in something that will be future-proof for a good deal of time. I don’t mind investing the money (maybe $3500) if it’s going to be at the top of the charts for the next 5 years or so. But if it turns out to not be truly amazing then I might go with the Sony a6400. I just read this article today which has me a little concerned. I - er - still wonder if the LCD on this is better than the previous 6000-series cameras, which had a problem in sunlight. Hope your detailed review covers that.
I agree, photo subjects in review vids aren't important, but it's nice to see some imaginative and creative ones sprinkled in there. It is important to see such things as image stab, color, resolution, and even a bit of the lens performance (bokeh, flare, distortion, DOF, etc), esp. if there's a kit lens.

Ok, so a few options. When you say wildlife, I'm assuming you mean you're going to zoom in on animals from far away, that requires a telephoto lens (that is not normally the first lens I recommend ua-cam.com/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/v-deo.html , but you are mentioning a very specific use).
There are a few options I can think of. First, I would go with mirrorless - it's smaller, lighter, and you can see your exposure in the actual electronic viewfinder.
Next, here are a few combinations:
      Fuji X-T30 + XF 55-200mm lens
Sony a6400 + 70-350mm (a little lower cost) or 70-300mm (top of your budget)
      Nikon Z50 + 50-250mm
      Canon M6MKII + 55-200mm
      All can general great images.

Tech Gear Talk i just watched the vid. Thank you.
i purposely bought the body only due to advice from others on UA-cam and other places stating that the sony a kit lenses are really poor 🤦🏻‍♂️, i could have picked one up today with the 16-55mm and the 55-210 for £480. Instead i bought the body only for £250.

As I mentioned in the video - I understand people's advice about the kit lenses not being the best, but unless you know what focal length/s you want, I think it's the best choice to start with.
All that aside - for portraits I tend to use something between 35-85mm on an APS-C sensor. For birds and wildlife, you'll want a much longer zoom. Sky is the limit here (or rather, your budget).

Tech Gear Talk ok thank you very much for the reply, my budget is around £1000 so i think i will pick up 2-3 lenses based around the portrait/dogs side of things, in the future i will look at getting into the more expensive zoom lenses, i just want to get to know my camera and learn the basics.
Thanks again for the reply and great channel + community.

I just ordered 6600 with kit 18-135 ( I believe that it is a little bit better than the Cannon 18-135 Nano.) and additional Sony E 50mm f1.8 OOS with my budget. I like night city photography, but I am not PRO so I hope this camera will give me what I am expecting from the autofocus. Probably I will buy some better lens for wide angle nature photos.
