Its a heavy beast but I was in the safari van 90% of the time so weight wasn't an issue. The poor people lifting the bag at the airport scanners had an issue tho.

I was able to track birds on the z8 no problem at all. The teleconverter is mainly made for this lens so image quality is also good. The only issue is the weight. tracking a bird with a 5kg lens is not fun.

Hi how does the autofocus perform with the Teleconverter on the 400mm f2.8… will it be suitable for birds in flight please with 1.7 tele ?
