@nobleaichi - procrastination & being easily distracted are actually just symptoms of being overwhelmed. The way you can most effectively tackle procrastination/a distracted mind is to make sure you're not trying to take on too much. Especially if you're a perfectionist, procrastination is usually a symptom of the fear of not getting something done perfectly, immediately - this causes us to just put it off rather than to just do it, and risk it not being perfect. Our minds can't process all the info that is being thrown at us every day, which is what causes a lack of focus. We have NO idea what to put our thoughts into. It's about creating moments of intentionality and not trying to do too many things at once :)
@@islandgirl75 thanks for the information. I'll feel unwell unless I do the right things in the right way and I've been like this for years. It caused my productivity to perish, I guess.

This reminds me of the concept of. Always tell the truth, but if you are a liar, just focus on not lying. Taking this mindset shift can help you in your improvement journey!

The to-do list one was the best one for me. I am totally guilty of the "brain dump" thing. I mean, I do usually divide my list into the part of the day that I want to do it (e.g. before breakfast), but I don't even properly follow that anyway. They say to max out the to-do list at 3 or maybe 5 tasks, but I can't do that! I have more than just 3 things to do, you know? I have never heard of the ABC method for to-do lists before, so I'm glad I came across this video. I'm going to try it!
Great video! I stopped having resolutions years ago because they made me feel bad for not completing them. Now, I just focus on finishing what’s already in progress (I.e. guitar lessons, Korean language lessons, etc.) so I won’t get overwhelmed with something brand new on top of what else I have going on.
@@mariana-vieira you really don't. It may feel that way since you dont have an brirish or american accent either, but for narrating that is absolutely perfect and irl very impressive.
Her speech is very clear and there is absolutely nothing wrong with having an accent. We need to get out of the mindset that American and British English is the standard.
@@adipurplishchic I don't think that it's wrong to take Englands (extended to british) english as the standard, after all it's called english for a reason. Still there shouldn't be any shame in any accent, cause the main archivement is to express one self in multiple languages.
Thanks for the great video. It was a good reminder to me to set one primary resolution/goal. I have too often overwhelmed myself with excess stuff! By the way, thanks for the Rize app suggestion. I just downloaded it and will see how it works for me!
Habits to Quit as per the video: 1. Creating a to-do list as your braindump 2. Not being on top of where your money is going 3. Waiting for the "ideal time" 4. Using electronics before bed 5. Being overly ambitious with goals and resolutions
i always have 13-15 hrs screen time and idk what to do about it. its like i cant go on my day without having to touch my phone every minute. i need a solution- 😭
To break a habit you need to set a clear objective: I will watch less than an hour a day of TikTok”. Make the habit a little less easy: set a limit in your phone settings for that app and put the phone uncomfortably far from you when you are resting. And make a substitute habit easy: leave a book nearby instead. Or the TV remote. Once you conquer your first habit then set another one: reducing instagram time, or youtube time, so you get closer to the big goal of reducing screen time one habit at a time. You should also start a habit tracker so you record in which days you do respect your limit. It motivates you to keep going
the pain of lack of attention her dog feels when she gives attention to her smartphone is heartbreaking, stop scrolling at your smartphone, it's bad for your dog's mental health
Oh mine... Actually I need 2 resolutions 😅😅 not less. Because I will have to do my exam as national accountant and to subscribe at my second Bachelor (while working). Not escapable... But yes, I see the power of saying: less is more. And it prevents a lot of stress.
*11 Stoic Traits I Wish I Knew In My 20s:* 1. Take a short term loss in order to have a 5-10 year play 2. Will look for one quality woman 3. Alpha by own definition (you set your own rules, guidelines, etc.). 4. The real troubles (hell) these men go through, but others won't know it. Ability to weather the storm. 5. Intimacy becomes Child's play and a crutch. This is many men's Achilles heal. 6. Consider legacy. Name, reputation and legacy are the only things men have. 7. Wealth accumulation is used for an internal strategy for comfort, not for an external validation of the world. Only comes when playing the long game. 8. Focus on skills NOT focus on the hours. 9 Talent finds you. 10. Nothing scares you. 11. Strong ability to control all sorts of different urges (from drinking, smoking, dirty websites to nail-biting/nail picking) - if you relapse. Learn and study everything to control your mind… (or it controls you = NOT GOOD). Take it easy and I hope you found one thing helpful in this list.
On the point of not waiting for the "ideal" time, I applied this in a much more militant way to my life to deal with ADHD and depression. Sure, ideally, you'd brush your teeth once in the morning and once at night. That's the ideal time to do it. But if I only feel like I can brush my teeth right when I wake up and right before I go to bed, what happened was I didn't brush my teeth at all. But once I moved to "think about it, and do it" I started being able to brush my teeth consistently at least once a day. Brushing my teeth at 2pm and eating afterwards is much better for my teeth than not doing it all because I'm stuck on the idea I "have" to do it before bed, when it's most "ideal".

This is the best New Year's advice - to have only one resolution for the year and accomplish that one resolution! Totally with you on that :)
Thank you for making us again aware of poor habits and encouraging us to get rid of them.

That’s so sweet, but I still think I have a heavy, over exaggerated accent 😅
