    I've had 2 dysons, both stop working after a few years and Dyson doesn't want to know. Thanks for videos like this saves people buying another expensive vacuum.

      You get a five year warranty on Dyson uprights so it's odd that they didn't want to know.

    Thank you! I took mine apart and cleaned all the filters etc (ran the motor/ball one under the tap and that worked just fine). Having waited a couple of days for the parts to dry, I’ve just reassembled. I plugged it in and it started with a roar! I thought I’d broken it, but it settled and now the suction is so strong it was sticking to the wooden flooring. A new lease of life! Brilliant.

    The hard part for me was opening the inside filter casing.... I went back to this video three times and did notice he had difficulty too, so I kept at it and FINALLY got it open. The filming got better later on but I had a hard time seeing what he was holding at first cause he was below the camera view. But other then that it was very helpful. Why do they have to make this wonderful vacuum SO hard to deep clean? sheesh

    It was especially funny to me when I first heard someone from the UK call it a Hoover. I live in North Canton, Ohio, the home of the Hoover Company. (The high school teams are call the Hoover Vikings!). I bought Hoover sweepers for most of my life. They didn’t last long. Then, I bought a Dyson over ten years ago. It’s worked wonderfully all this time until a few days ago. I’m looking for clogs, as the motor is still going strong.

    Easily as clean as a 'Brand New one' .
    A large bottle brush is good for cleaning the long Flxi Pipe too.
    Well done mate.
    Also pop a fibre air freshener pad by the Hepa filter for added Fresh Fragrance .

    Thanks for the video, we found it very useful. I have the animal dc40 like this one plus 1 in yellow and they both had stopped picking up properly. Driving me crazy not being able to clean properly and didn't want to be buying any new ones during lockdown. Thumbs up!

    My reasoning for taking apart was more about smell than suction. The previous owner must have at some point sucked up water or submerged the cyclone for cleaning. If this is you, here is why. The inside gasket is made of neoprene. Go sweat in your sandals and smell them...or wear a wetsuit for a day. That's exactly what hit my nose when using the Dyson DC40.

    Very informative, but also a great advertisement for buying a BAGGED model. I have a Dyson, as well as a pair of LG bagless units (large house), and they’re such a pain to clean with all the miscellaneous filters. I’d rather insert a bag, fill it, toss it.

      make sure the valve at the back bottom of the ball/hose is closing when you take the hose. there is a pipe/valve that moves when you pull the hose off to divert suction to the hose.
      if you get some suction from the hose but seems blocked there is a section to remove to unblock it on the back next to the valve. hope this helps

    So much for the Dyson claim of "No Loss Of Suction"
    Any vacuum that needs to have pre and post filters will eventually suffer from clogged filters.

    • @walruspolish
      @walruspolish Рік тому

      That's because most people don't treat them properly. i.e. don't wash the filters regularly and often overfill past the maxfill line.

    • @hermanmunster3358
      @hermanmunster3358 Рік тому

      @@walruspolish You only have to use th8e cleaner once, for the filter to cause the cleaner to lose a degree of performance. It may not be immediately noticeable to a user without some way of scientifically measuring the performance, but as the filter filters out dust, it will clog Iover time, so "no liss of suction is a spurious claim.

    • @walruspolish
      @walruspolish Рік тому +1

      @@hermanmunster3358 hence washing the filters / emptying the bin within the manufacturer spec to maintain performance. Using it once would reduce the performance by an indeterminate amount. Any vacuum needs maintenance.

      ‘hoover’ is commonly a generic term for a vacuum cleaner, regardless of the brand and even though there is a hoover brand - or you can say you’re going to do the hoovering or hoover the lounge etc.

    idk if mines dc40 or 50 or what but i have a small ball allergy and cant seem to think how am i gonna clean the head see through part properly? urs has buttons to take cover off mine doesnt. i have taken the roller out and still thats not enough. i know the 2 filters and that but just this front of the head part is bugging me as i know not to use water because its motorized. any help please i tried searching and couldnt find a video. but this is my second video i see u do. edit: when i mean roller i meant the sleeve. also since day one i like to mention i never use the pipe. the suction on that well its hardly there for some reason and its new and ive tried to find whats wrong and nothing is. its just crap. but the head normal sucking is great.
