I’m a vacuum collector and technician and have many Dysons. Usually the average Dyson owner doesn’t know how to properly clean their vacuum but this is wonderfully done and explained perfectly. If I ever need to send someone a video on how to clean their Dyson, I will send them this video. Again wonderful job and a new subscriber here

My HEPA filter has a bunch of black soot like substance. I can run my fingers on it and it comes off. Water does not rinse it off. What would be the best way to get that off? Or should I just get a new filter?

Thanks for this video! Small additional tip- I use a seam ripper (typically used for sewing) to clean the hair out of the brush- I personally find it easier than scissors. Thanks again!

Great idea! Especially because of the natural curve of the seam ripper to prevent any damage from being done to the roller! Thanks for the tip!

My Dyson must be older, it doesn't have the same structure. I inherited it, and I never had the instructions or a manual. It is an upright, meant for pet hair .
The purple filter is a flat, round disc. And the cyclone can definitely be rinsed.
I'll have to check if the ball comes off 🤔
Very glad to find your video!

    Hey there! Awesome clean!
Nice little extra cleaning tip I found out yesterday!
Where the rollers hook to the thing in the middle, you can take the prongs off either side with a torq or hex screwdriver, nice little hiding place I found a bit of wrapped up fluff and hair.
Also in the same wave, the rollers themselves, the black side of the rollers, you can take off and clean the plastic caps and around the roller inside (Don't take the grease off of the bearings though) hiding places everywhere! I was shocked how much had managed to get into those hidden places. :) x

Just my $.02, I have a air compressor They are not all that expensive but the return is worth it. After each use of sweeper I blow out all the filters , bin, cyclone and vacuum head. The purple cyclone collects a lot of fine dust particles. When you lift out the cloth filter you will see several ports and at the very bottom of the cyclone is a round hole. This is where you use the air compressor It will blow out tons of fine dust from the ports the large hole at the bottom and the mesh screen. This also keeps that sweeper odor away. The air compressor will blow dust from underside of refrigerator air up your tires blows off dust from sanding on wood projects and clean your sweeper.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to clean out the dust that collects INSIDE the cyclone. This didn’t work for me but I’m not giving up lol.

@@juliebaker1112 Your welcome . My wife said a air compressor is a necessity. We use it every week just for the vacuum alone. Now that winter is coming our tires will loose a little psi so we air them up. No need to go some where and pay what ever it cost at a convenient store. Family and friends stop by and you notice a tire is a little low . Well you can fix that problem. If you can request a Christmas gift. A decent compressor will set you back + or - $150 and up. Something else is a portable air tank ~ $40-50 bucks which you can fill up and take it with you. My brother in-law seems to always have a low tire or a flat. The portable tank will fill the a car tire or a truck enough to get it to a repair shop. It may seem like I'm a tire salesman I'm not . I do a lot of repairs and work in my garage on my stuff and family that's all for now. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas.

Hi Michelle, I have a suggestion for you. Trade in that nasty Dyson Ball for a Riccar with a bag. My R40 P Riccar came with an 8 year warranty, 40 ft cord and what I like best is the large paper bag seals when you remove it from the machine. No dust or dirt escapes from the bag during the removal process, neat, :-). I had a Dyson Ball and I used to go through what your going through now, that nasty dirt cup and filters to wash and dry. YUCK. Trade in now for a Riccar and you will never regret it. Riccar's can only be purchased from a Riccar dealer. Not available in stores or on Amazon. You will love your Riccar trust me. Best decision I ever made. John in Ohio. P.S. I do not work for or sell Riccar Vacuums, I am just as very satisfied customer. Have a nice day Michelle.

Is there a reason why the cyclone cannot be run under water and dried out like the clear canister or filters? Good, clear video, thank you.

I avoid using water to prevent any water getting into the nooks and crannies and not drying properly causing dust to get gummed up next time I use my vacuum.

TIP: Get it even cleaner with an air compressor, like the parts you can't get wet.

Thank you very much from Ohio. Mine was working in the upright position but not the vacuum position. Knew something was an easy fix but didn't know how to do it. With your video, I was able to unclog the brush assembly where it was stuck as the spinning mechanism. Thank you for saving me hundreds of dollars on a new one ❤

Thank you for sharing this valuable video..can you advice how I can take out a sock that is stuck in the hose at the back of the vacuum x

    • @MesseswithMichelle
      @MesseswithMichelle  2 роки тому +1

Why are socks always the culprit for clogging vacuums 🤣 I haven’t encountered having a clogged hose but if I did the only solution I can think of is using something long enough to reach the sock and gently trying to push it towards the base to get the sock close to the opening of the hose under the canister and removing it.
