This video was amazing. I could see every step you did clearly and up close. The verbal instructions were very precise and left nothing to be misunderstood. I appreciate very much that you took the time to create such an explanatory tool which was very user friendly. Bravo and thank you. Julie

by far the best maintenance video for a dyson I've seen. I've done all the routine things for years (filters and brush) but needed to see how to get those jets exposed so I could finally clean those. I had a clog that I couldn't figure out and it was definitely coming from inside there.

Since I've cleaned a few of these Dysons and a few other "Bagless" vacuums, I've come to really, REALLY, appreciate our Kenmore canister vacuum and our Kenmore Upright, both use really good filter bags. Just take out the bag when it's full, throw it in the garbage, put in a new one, and it's back to business. It takes more time to find where I put the bags than it does to actually change it. Every three- or four-years I brush what little dust there is on the inside of the vacuum out with a brush, replace the HEPA filter, clean the beater bar and check the belt.
They don't get used much anymore because we run a few Roomba's, which are bagless, and really pretty easy to clean (Hair around the rollers being the most time consuming), but I won't get rid of the Kenmore's.
I'm working on one of these DC50's now for a friend and it's plugged solid with dust and dander and who knows what else. I don't think I'll ever own one of these. It's a nasty job.
    Thanks for posting the video!

One thing I love about the 5 dysons we have….they are so easy to clean & repair. My DC50 is 10yrs old and going strong (for what it is)

I have the same vac. I found it on the side of the road and the head wastnt spinning. I took it apart and cleaned the head and it worked. I decided to give the filter a clean - so literally ran water through it - so much dirt came out - did that until it ran clarn let it dry over several days nad then put it back together - worked a treat. Thanks. Needed to be reminded how to remove head as it needed a clean. great vid.

Thanks for the video! Picked one if these up by the side of the road, and we'll see once everything dries if it was worth the hour of deep cleaning.

Good video! I did have a mild anxiety attack that you were taking out those tiny screws over that thick plush carpet and I had to look away at the very end just in case you were gonna impale yourself with the screwdriver 🤣

I tried what you said and everything worked so far it's not picking up the cat here but it's picking up the sand and the dirt out of the carpets the rotating brush compartment I have to use tape to seal it together it was a part and now I got a lot more vacuum power

It was useful seeing the internals, though realising the upper part was all plastic, I just ran it under the kitchen sink and left it to dry.

Very helpful! I just wish I could find a video that how to remove the plastic cover on the brush bar. There is a bunch of dirt stuck under the cover that I can't get to. Great video though!

Can you please help? Where does the small black part that looks like a screw can go in it go to? It says 'Dyson 11-6206' on it. For multifloor 2. Please google a picture of it. Thanks.

Good video but not really necessary to take the collecter drum to pieces. It can all go under the tap or use a hose. Along as it's dry before use obviously.

I think being able to air blow it saves having to wait for it to dry.

This is a terrible design these cyclone type filtration systems on vacuums. All the Dysons use this design right, and I assume they are all screwed together like this. Caked with dirt! And only way most folks could do this is by paying a service center or replacing the part? How long before they cake up?

I've been dreading it for days. Had to break it up into several jobs.
The cleaning head has a narrow bracket at the edge that holds hair and cannot be opened. I've used an awl, tweezers, and a clamp to clean it. Not fun.
On top of it my cat is starting a spring shed lol. This video motivated me though.
