Excellent video! I recently picked up the slightly larger DC41 in that color scheme. After the hose was repaired its a fine little machine, though it doesn't feel like the sturdiest thing in the world. My Ball Total Clean UP13 (DC41 Mk2) is much better. Great video Dorian! Looking forward to seeing the 14 Allergy soon! Thats my favorite color scheme on the 14. I just love the look of an all silver Dyson.
Great save Dorian 👌 I like yourself can't believe that machine was thrown away when all it needed was a clean and a new set of filters. I've had to have a few things replaced under warranty on our DC40 Animal Erp, the pre motor filter split, so got in touch with Dyson and they replaced it, then the brush roll motor burnt out last year, so got in touch with Dyson again and they collected the machine and when it came back to us, they had replaced the floorhead and Post motor filter. The thing with the DC40 is it's seals need regular cleaning, otherwise the performance drops and it develops the whistling sound, so every few months I'll give the seals a quick wipe down with a wet wipe. I can't believe our DC40 is 5 years old already, though once it needs replacing I'll get a Sebo Felix I think 👌. Will look forward to your full house demo with this 😊
@@HooverLux Most of bagless cleaner's flaws mainly come from people's neglect. They somehow miss the fact that you have to wash/change filters and give the shroud some TLC every now and then
Loved this and followed along, but still can't use my vacuum. I'm disappointed you didn't take the lower hose off. Mine's broken. Can you do another video about that?
I do agree with you that for older machines that won't be used often that pattern filters are usually fine, but as a preference I like to use genuine if I can get them. Even with my DC01s, DC02s ect. That's just my fussy preference though. Nothing wrong with pattern
Watch alot of your videos and just realised i hadnt subscribed to your channel mate , so have just done so . We have a dyson v15 corldess but i also wanted a corded machine and we got a 2nd hand dc40 so as per watched this video to see how to up keep it and maintain and solve any issues . Brilliant as always . One thing ... i didnt know you could wash the part with the cyclones in it with soapy water , was always advised not to do this . I see you did it so presume its ok , as seen others take it all apart very fiddly and footery . And some just bang the dust out . Personally i dont think thar way proper cleans it and when it comes round to it think il wash in sink with soapy water like you did .
Thank you and welcome to the HLux family mate. Yeah, I wash them as normally I get them and they’re absolutely filthy, but after one use they manky again lol. It ok to do them every few years.

Thank you 😊. I have a yellow DC14 that I refurbed before, I’ve not done the house demo yet, so I will be filming that on the weekend first.

Oh wow, you’ve had a few parts replaced, that’s really good! I really can’t wait for you to see how it did 🤗🤗
I really like the look of these vacuums, its very common for those filters to go bad on these
Unfortunately that's the case with most recent models. Poor design+lack of care=fucked 😂
You’ll love next weeks full house demo.
So true

Cleaned up well great video 👍
Yeah, I’m so pleased with it. House demo ready for next Monday and it’s now on eBay waiting for a new owner 🤗

Next time!
Outstanding as always!!
Awwww shucks, you’re biased my sweet honey child 🤗
I just did a similar video on my Dyson DC40 trash find. Lol 😂. The dust bin needed replaced and that’s all. I’m not a real big fan of this model.
Yeah, I made this a few weeks ago, we all seem to be doing our dyson vids 🤣. I’ve another DC14 coming up in a few weeks.
When I had one of these the change over pipe would blow dust everywhere 🤣 but great save mr Lux 👍
Ah yes! The amount of battering that little hose gets, I’m surprised they don’t fail after a few weeks. I was lucky this one was ok.
Other day I just picked up a Dyson V6 animal with charger on side of road. It's was clogged. Worked find after a cleaning
People just don’t take care of them

I’ve been searching for a genuine DC40 post filter and I can’t find one less than 30 quid. I’d then have to sell the machine 30 quid more than I want.
@@HooverLux yeah that's very expensive. Even I wouldn't pay that. It has to be worth it

Amazing refurb mate
Thank you, hope you’ll enjoy the house demo next Monday 🤗
@@HooverLux I'm sure I will!
