    I was looking for MV Agusta 800 opinions, then find yours review. Im very glad that you recorded it, but in the back was S1000R, so Im very interesting in this review and yours opinion. Thanks for recording yours opinions. Most of them are from youngsers pumped up, and so eagor that they have nothing to say about facts like you.

    Fantastic review, very precisely described, it was a real pleasure to listen.
    I’m about to buy this model and I’m now much more confident on the choice I’m about to make.
    This was REALLY helpful.
    Thanks so much for the effort to make this video.
    Cheers from Milan, Italy

    I've been living and riding in San Diego the past 20 years. That was a great review. I saw two of these bikes (both owners were over 50) at the same time on Saturday on top of Palomar Mountain outside of the general store (open) and Mother's Kitchen (closed).

    • @GareyCooperdude
      @GareyCooperdude  3 роки тому

      We are pretty lucky to live here Paul. I generally ride a few hours on a week day when traffic is less than an issue. And I ride purely for the fun of it which I am fortunate to be able to do. I always avoid Palomar on the weekends.....too many younger people trying to impress for this old guy, LOL. I have a few favorite local roads I call "my private Nurburgring" that I concentrate on....how about you?

    Hello Garey, from NYC! I also own a S1000R, 2017 model & you're right on the money with your review. I think the your seat is a Saddlemen if I'm not mistaken. I also purchased one,but a different model. #justsayin 😅

    Torn between this and the RR. Main concern with is is lack of wind protection when going high speeds

    • @GareyCooperdude
      @GareyCooperdude  5 років тому +1

      Jeremey, I've ridden both and while the engine and controls are very similar the machines are quite different in feel. And yes you will get buffeting at high speed on the single R! But as a street machine (strictly my opinion here) it is much more livable on a daily basis with nearly the same level of performance. So, my question to you would be your intended purpose or use for the machine and factor that into your decision.
      One of the biggest differences to me was that fact that the double R is geared very tall, for the track I would suppose. So, around neighborhoods and regular roads you are in first or second gear which can make the throttle and ride a bit more "nervous" if I'm explaining it correctly. While on the single R, with its revamped mapping and lower gearing you are and can be in 2-3 gear which makes for a easier ride at those lower "normal" speeds.
      Both are great machines by the way and good luck with your decision!

      Garey Cooper thanks for your input! Leaning toward the R.

    Really good and informative review. Purchased my s1000r brand new 1 year ago, and sounds like we have a lot of the same opinions about this bike. It is indeed a fantastic machine. You mentioned near the end that the Aprilia vs BMW will be the last video of the s1000r, can I ask why? Are you selling it or focusing on making videos with the Aprilia?

    • @GareyCooperdude
      @GareyCooperdude  5 років тому +3

      It is because I now have three motorcycles! This is a first rate problem to have I know...but I do cannot keep three machines. As the Aprilia is the newer of the two naked that I own I will indeed be selling the BMW going forward. I want to do one more ownership review of this machine which I hope to be a side-by-side comparison of the Aprilia/BMW.

      Great question and how has your bike been running?

    • @Nessaj87
      @Nessaj87 3 роки тому

      @@pcofranc It has been running great! Got 9000km on it soon. Been a pleasant ownership, not had any troubles at all. I do not ride it that hard, don't do wheelies and similar like maybe the bike was made for : ) But I love the sheer power this bike can put out.

    Can you still feel the heated grips through the hush puppies?

      Sorry! Just seeing this one, got past me somehow. The answer is yes you can feel the heated grips through the "Grip Puppies."

    How much does it cost to have your engine timed and adjust valve clearances? I'm a daily rider and have a 2019 model BTW.

    Thinking of purchasing this grip puppies. My right hand seems to cramp after 30 minutes with a 7/8 bar grip. How hard is the install? Also are they removable without ruining the under grips?

    • @GareyCooperdude
      @GareyCooperdude  5 років тому

      The install is a bit fiddly but not very hard really. Just use some dish soap and water to coat the inside of the grip puppy and slide/push it on over the existing grip. And yes they will remove without damaging the original grip underneath.

    Garey: Would you consider trading the S1000R in for the 2019 S1000RR?

    • @GareyCooperdude
      @GareyCooperdude  5 років тому +1

      So, the correct answer here is; absolutely. The Beemer R or RR bikes are just really good machines. However, I have to say that personally I'm physically past the clip-on sport bike age, so if I were to go back to BMW it'd be a new version of the R or the R1200 RS which I think is pretty cool. The 1200 is the opposed twin and this is just so BMW. The R and RR are the inline 4's and despite what people say about them being not "characterful" are simply awesome motors......
