Not to mention we deserve to be able to live in our home state if we want to and not be considered one of the undesirables that get snuffed out. and the idea of running away--as a Texan--leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I want to fight, just don't know how... maybe we can get together and start doing massive work strikes everywhere until our demands are met.
I wish there was something we could do, but all of the channels we citizens have to influence the government are either blatantly rigged or only to serve the purpose of giving false hope. I bet you the reason someone like Bernie Sanders, someone who can cause real change will never be elected is because companies don't want him in office.

THAT was the beginning of this slow but steady move from being able to survive in America to clawing our way through this dystopian oligarchy. You’re amazing, @ben_brainard and I can’t wait to see you when you’re tour brings you home to Floriduh.
Thank you, Ben, for being a voice! Sometimes in our own states we don’t even hear about these things. They really try to pass them under the radar.
Agreed!
It happens on both sides. Both sides use shady tactics and subversion to push their agenda. Illinois snuck a bunch of gun control into a bill that was about amusement parks.
I've found that if I want real news about the US, I need to watch news programs from other countries. Often, they hear more truth about what's happening here than we in the US do..
I teared up at the end. I mean I really did. Because we did this. We keep electing the same old dead guys over and over and expecting change, which isn't going to come unless we start at the bottom and work our way up. Good job zs usual, Ben.

My only question is: When the hell did Florida learn to read?
He stated once he pretends to not know how to to get out of work.
He wrote all that down in Spanish and is just translating it on the fly.
My guess is sometime between the "nineth" and "twelth" grade.
You know, sometimes when you're living in a less shitty state, you forget that it's not just the federal government being taken over that you have to worry about. I feel for everyone in these states, and thanks for the reminder Ben.
Local and state politics are far more relevant to an individual's daily life than federal politics by a long shot.
@@abberss They absolutely are, but it's easy to miss the slow takeover of the country when you aren't living in the places that are already being taken by the fascists
I just so happen to be unlucky enough to be growing up in such a state and the amount of laws I feel as though I have to learn to protect both me and my friends is truly saddening
Oh don't you worry, once they get their states under control they'll go for the rest of the country.
I wish more people got this. Everything he described is blatantly unconstitutional and unpopular, yet this is how the crooks we call “politicians” legislate on your behalf while lying directly to your face and saying “we’re just protecting the kids”.

The thing is, it doesn't need to hold up in court. It doesn't even have to pass. This is one in a series of laws the governor has been pushing to try and solidify Florida as a Republican stronghold (he barely won his first term, but his strategy of aggressively making Florida out to be heavily conservative seems to lure more Republican retirees here while scaring away Democratic ones).
Of course, with the current Supreme Court I wouldn't be surprised if the bill were to "stand up to scrutiny" despite its clear constitutional violations.

My only wish as an independent was that he did the same with the democrats. Both sides are corrupt .
@@leolordfulHe does, but it’s less frequent. They don’t have a dedicated video, but there are segments in some others where he does. I know he went after California’s CARE Act, and the Biden administration for approving Project Willow. Anyone got any ideas on what we should do? Because We need to do something, and my first inclination is to run away to somewhere safer, but that won't work. Those places we run to can change into this as well if you don't fight back.

I'm in CT and we widely consider ourselves a 'sanctuary state' with lots and lots of legislation on the books protecting trans & gay people as well as reproductive rights. But every other day I hear or see or experience discrimination, violence, and hatred. If we're not even safe in those states that /have/ laws on the books protecting us, we aren't safe anywhere.
