I met Daniel in 2005 at a summer camp, I was supposed to be the drum teacher but he was already killing it aged 15. Super cool dude too. So stoked to see he’s made it (No thanks to me of course 😂)
Daniel is the nicest guy! He talked about drums with my 14-year-old nephew backstage and was genuinely a good dude. I love Turnstile and what they're doing.
Having a world class drummer, so humble and down to earth will make or break a band. Turnstile is blessed with two such drummers and their collaborative energy, along with the rest of the band is what makes them so unique in my opinion. I'm an old school punk/hardcore/reggae soul that discovered Turnstile the summer of 2001 and got to see them live in Los Angeles in Feb 2022, which was one of Brady's last show and they absolutely blew my mind! Dan's drumming has that DC go go feel at times, especially when he incorporates the cowbells and I love the extended feedback between songs and interludes, totally brings Fugazi vibes to mind. Brady's riffs and sense of space was akin to Dr. Know. These guys absolute kill it live and looking forward to seeing them at The Warfield in San Francisco in March!
Amazing band. Each member incredibly talented and they all complement each other into an awesome whole producing great tunes. Best band I have heard in the last ten years!
I am SO excited and appreciative of young musicians who are energetic, appreciative of "classic" genre, and move forward musically all at once. BIG FAN.
I really think Daniel and his really creative drummer are the ones that give Turnstile that spice that makes them different from the rest. I admire him as a drummer so much. PS: of course the rest of the band kills it too 😂
I got to watch him record some of the album A.D. with Angel Du$t while we were using the same studio space - it completely changed the way I felt about drummers and drum parts in general. A true master of the craft.
Yea, I played with Dan in a band high school. He was always very reserved, but a super nice guy. I reached out to him on IG a few years back and I was shocked that he responded! We talked about some DC hardcore bands. I asked him about the Panda Bear colab. I look back to that period of time. I miss Dan so much and hope to catch up with him one day. I've been following his career and am still a huge fan of everything he puts out. Truly a force of nature -- FANG BANG. 🦇🥁🪘
We play the same cymbal set up. I used to have a Ludwig classic as well but I build my own drums now out of Keller shells, bearing edges everything... and a 14x8 Black Beauty snare.
Love that Roland SPD-SX! I was able to use it in a similar way for my Tribute to RUSH Drum Cover Project. Neil used those e-sounds in such a creative way. Especially in The Big Money and Time Stand Still. Also some cool sounds in Animate and The Pass. Cool video here!
Daniel is such an underrates drummer, that mix of pads and the acoustic drums is so cool and so modern (lol) real interesting to see all the details that make his kit, and coming from me that i play guitar lmao
if you combine all the power of every famous drummer on the hardcore scene into one and added in eloy casagrande for extra "Fuck you, I'll play as hard as I like" factor, you get daniel fang.
I don't know if anybody's noticed but Turnstile's song Holiday is totally in the new Taco Bell commercial! Looking at his kit, I would've never guessed he played such big cymbals. I also think it's cool that he doesn't play double bass and sticks with the single bass drum configuration while playing hardcore music.
which vic firth sticks does he use? At first I thought they were "extreme", but I noticed they are labeled differently that he is holding here in the video are they signature sticks? does anyone know more about this? sorry for my bad english I'm from Germany and I'm still learning.
@@krusher74 My 1963 Ludwig is this size. It’s called a New Yorker. Sounds amazing with lots of punch and boom. I bet most custom drum shops would make one.

The drums sounded so incredible at this show.
damn you can tell this guy loves drumming. must be cool to have a job you’re that passionate about. he’s also damn good.
My fav drummer rn. Mixture of punk hardcore drumming with melodic parts and sprinkles of other genres here and there. Love it!

This guy has opened my mind as a drummer, and for that I thank you Daniel! Til next time.

22:58 "So you're a drummer too" I mean he was/is only the drummer for the famous hardcore band called Trapped Under Ice.
pretty sure he also played drums on Turnstiles first EP Pressure to Succeed
Amazing
So sick. Dan shreds. Sam also fucking kills it. Hardest hitter ever when I saw him play for Trash Talk for a while.

nice idea for pedal

Damn, I want the Ludwig universal brass so bad. I didn’t he played one
can you tell is it the 5 or 6.5 one?
Imagine if zildjian k's didnt translate well to rock drumming. Got dang best cymbals ever

There’s a couple trapped under ice sets where he jumps on drums
“Old band Angel Du$t” wait he’s not in AD anymore!? 😢 damn… but such a good insightful video
He's still in there, well Wikipedia says lol
no he isn’t, tommy from gouge away is playing drums for AD atm, alongside other pop wig members
I don't think I know anyone else who would bring a K Con to this kind of gig
Snare is 14x6,5? Thanks
