Wow, pleasantly surprised to see Lars featured! I know he gets a lot of hate, but Lars is quite an important drummer in the evolution of metal drumming. Never forget that.
There would be no Metallica if Lars didn't start it. HE kept it together when it looked like it was falling apart.
a truly phenomenal look at what we needed to see....in both denmark AND america's most immersive drummer, and the benchmark fellow of which we all looked for direction on the kit at some point or another. it was guys like lars who showed us how to get down. thanks so much modern drummer, you dont know how much it means to have him show us this.
The King. No more words.
My biggest influence ❤
For anyone wondering about that snare. It's not actually a bell brass snare as Lars says it is. the model number is LU1465B30. It's his normal chrome signature snare you can buy, but the special 30th anniversary edition that is coated black. It is still 3mm of steel, not bell brass. (unless Lars has some secret snare that is disguised to look like that one but is actually a Tama bell brass underneath, but I doubt it.)
Thank you! Finally someone with the same thought as myself. Seen him throwing that snare to Jimmy. You would not do that with a bell brass.
Don you happen to know what the bottom cymbal of the hi-hat is? It’s sold as A Byno Beat singles. So practically you can have whatever under.
This is the best episode of the MD channel! Thank you for that!
great to hear lars talk about his drums, it’s not always that we get « drummer » lars interviews, he always talks about the band rather than his instrument.
thanks modern drummer ❤️
Which he did here as well. Just look how he turned over queatikn about coated heads
Excellent video and here to add my voice to those who love Lars's drumming!
Great to see Lars do an actual drum feature for Modern Drummer. I would love it if he agreed to do an episode of Drumeo. #wanna
Wow what a rarity, there are videos far and few between of Lars talking about his kit, brilliant upload. I travelled from Ireland to Amsterdam for the first shows of the 72 seasons tour and was standing directly behind Lars in the snakepit. The energy was ferocious and understand what he means about hearing the drums acoustically and thru the PA. Thanks for the upload I never clicked so fast
Wooooooooooooow. You guys did it! AWESOME!
Very cool! Not often an artist does his own rig rundown and this is one of the most comprehensive ones I've ever seen. No stone left unturned and cool insights. Well done guys!!
They're really killing it this tour. ❤
Great David! Love that Lars took time to do this with you and gave a look behind the scenes.
Very cool to see him doing it by himself 🙏🏻😌 and he seems to be enjoying talking gear
Lars is unquestionably my favorite drummer to get me into drums.
Amazing rundown video
This is the ultimate kit run down I was waiting for!! Going to see Metallica in Toronto and at Sonic temple festival in 2025.
Great interview David and modern drummer ! 🤘
This was so awesome! Never thought id see Lars talking about his drums this way! Hell yeah!
22:00 makes perfect sense-with four kits, you want consistency, so using triggers/samples is perfectly justified-even to the purists.
Lars is getting some old man mannerisms. We all grow older. Love the man.
Hes alot more agreeable than in the past ...
Getting old makes you accept alot of things you never would have in the past ....😂🎉
Maturity...😂
His cymbals ALWAYS look incredible! The colour of them is amazing!
AWESOME, THANKS MD!!!
I’m watching this with a huge smile! The way he explains with detail the who and why’s is so amazing! Amazing kit and that black snare is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
How does David not know Ahead Stick are Aluminium? every interview he says something that makes me thing he does not work at that magazine.
Finally someone notices this, i swear this guy knows nothing about drums and is the fakest person ever and heres an example, in charlie benante's kit rundown when charlie was talking about his roland triggers and how he blends his ACOUSTIC DRUM with the TRIGGERED vinnie sound David said "oh you must really depend on these triggers" even after hearing that he blends the two sounds and he could play the set without them charlie still had to correct him. And during Danny Carey's kit rundown he kept on sucking up to danny for no reason and when danny was talking about the song "chocolate chip trip" David for some reason said, "is that another thing we have in common, we both liek chocolate chip cookies" he sounded like a teenager trying to find things they and their crush have in common.
@@noahthedrummer5150Danny Carey said the song was named that because they were eating so many chocolate chip cookies in the studio. They were literally talking about eating chocolate chip cookies.
Laz You Rick ...
I wanna know what's up with the dude's eye....
@@CorridorOfChameleons94Looks like he might have a prosthetic.
Lars was my hero and in many ways still is. This video gives me hope that one day we'll get a Lars appearance on Drumeo!
I see lars ulrich kit rundown, I click faster than lightning.
I’ve been drumming since 1993. Lars, Bill Ward, Dave Lombardo and Mick Harris all got me to dive head first at the age of 16. 🤘🏻
Impressive having consistency between 4 drum kits.
Thank you for this video!
Bought the clear bag from kislux to go to a concert. It was GREAT! Breezed through security and wore it as a crossbody so I could dance and groove!!
Thank you for this 🔥
Out of all the drummers in the world, lars is one of them
Lars is one of the most creative metal drummers
Much love to you Lars! You're one of the guys that taught me how to play drums in the 80's and you'll always have a fan in me!
The Tom’s look 10” and 12”. Great video! 👍🤟
I was thinking the exact same thing
I was confused when he said 12 and 13. Nearly everyone says 10 12
Love Lars. Good to see a video like this. Appreciate it team ❤
